Cardano Founder Welcomes Ethereum to Midnight Network

Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, has welcomed Ethereum to the Midnight Network following a partnership between Sig Network and the Midnight Foundation.

In a brief post on X, Hoskinson welcomed Ethereum while reacting to the partnership announcement. According to the announcement, Sig Network will enable Ethereum applications to access Midnight’s privacy infrastructure while keeping their assets on Ethereum. Its signing network allows a Midnight smart contract to control an Ethereum account and authorize transactions through a threshold of independent signers.

Consequently, applications can use Midnight to shield users’ balances, identities, and transaction histories while continuing to interact with Ethereum-based services such as Uniswap and Aave. It is important to note that the underlying assets remain on Ethereum, eliminating the need to bridge or wrap them for the integration.

Furthermore, the partnership incorporates notable features, especially selective disclosure and compliance controls. These features allow applications to reveal only information that is relevant without exposing users’ entire financial activities publicly.

Sig Network, which also powers Nightmode, says its solution enables developers to introduce privacy features without rebuilding their applications on another blockchain.

Notably, Sig Network is already live on Midnight’s stagenet. So far, it is supporting deposits, Uniswap swaps, Aave lending and withdrawals.

“What we’re doing here is we’re letting you take the best of Midnight and mix it with the best of Ethereum,” David Millar-Durrant, the CEO of Sig Network recently remarked.

Midnight Extends Its Cross-Chain Privacy Strategy

Meanwhile, Hoskinson’s welcome to Ethereum follows a similar response to plans to bring Midnight’s privacy feature to TRON, where private payments are targeted for December 2026.

The TRON initiative also involves Sig Network’s Nightmode solution, which aims to introduce privacy features to existing blockchain ecosystems while preserving their established functionality. The integration seeks to protect payment details and wallet information while retaining compliance controls.

Midnight Builds on Its Multichain Launch

Notably, Midnight’s cross-chain ambitions date back to its token launch. Last year, the project distributed its NIGHT tokens through an airdrop initiative covering users across eight blockchains, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana.

While eligible users on these networks received NIGHT tokens through the distribution, Sig Network is now working to extend Midnight’s privacy capabilities to applications operating within their respective ecosystems.

Ethereum and TRON are among the networks targeted by these efforts. Additionally, Sig Network has encouraged developers building on other networks, including Bitcoin, to reach out if they want to integrate Midnight’s privacy features.
