Shiba Inu Lead Unveils WHY Combinator, New Utility for BONE

0

The Shiba Inu team has unveiled a set of new programs designed to drive growth and adoption and foster innovation in the ecosystem.

In a blog post, Shiba Inu lead Shytoshi Kusama announced the completion of the 36 Chambers of Tech. The stack focuses on over 30 technological pieces, including AI, Shibarium, Web3 games, and the Metaverse.

Kusama noted that the innovation aims to make “powered by Shib” as common as that of brands like Google. He further stated that the 36 Chambers of Tech would seamlessly integrate individuals and projects into Web3, making the Shiba Inu ecosystem a household name.

Pseudonymous Lead Announces WHY Combinator

Furthermore, Kusama unveiled the WHY Combinator, a decentralized program that ensures that innovations in the Shiba Inu ecosystem are worthwhile. The pseudonymous lead stated that the program answers the “Why does this product or startup need to exist in the world?” question.

The decentralized protocol vets the purpose behind an innovation and prioritizes projects that solve real-world problems. Thus, the Shiba Inu ecosystem will only offer programs with long-term viability and impact.

Meanwhile, the WHY Combinator and 36 Chambers of Tech align with Shiba Inu’s push for adoption and decentralization. The imminent TREAT (Transactional Reward for Engagement and Access Token) launch is one of the final pieces to a fully decentralized ecosystem.

The Shiba Inu lead noted that projects on each of the 36 Chambers have TREAT as their utility token. The team also proposed a weekly TreatDrop to reward users and projects engaging with the WHY Combinator.

New Utility for BONE

The blog post also revealed the expansion of the BONE token utility. Currently the gas token for the Shibarium network, the Shiba Inu team plans to create a new utility for the token.

Kusama mentioned the ongoing project of building an L3 chain for Shibarium. The new solution will introduce roll-up functionalities, as seen in Arbitrum and Optimism. The roll-up feature would allow other chains to settle transactions on Shibarium while providing a data availability layer.

The pseudonymous lead noted that this innovation will drive the adoption of Shibarium and the Shiba Inu ecosystem at large. In turn, exchanges would also be attracted to native tokens in the marketplace.

Singapore Blocks Crypto Prediction Platform Polymarket, Calls it “Illegal” Gambling Portal

0

Singapore has restricted access to Polymarket, a cryptocurrency-based prediction platform, citing unlicensed gambling concerns.

The move aligns with Singapore’s Gambling Control Act 2022, which spells out significant penalties for those engaging with unlicensed operators.

Singaporean Users Blocked from Polymarket, Risking Legal Implications

Notably, users attempting to access Polymarket from Singapore now encounter a notice referencing the country’s gambling control act. The warning outlines penalties, including fines up to SGD 10,000, imprisonment for six months, or both.

It emphasizes that Singapore Pools is the country’s only authorized remote gambling operator. The notice originates from the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA), which oversees the nation’s gambling framework.

Furthermore, individuals found guilty of unlawful gambling operations face harsher penalties, including fines of up to SGD 500,000 and imprisonment for up to seven years. Moreover, repeat offenses could result in fines reaching SGD 700,000 and prison terms extending to ten years.

Previous Polymarket Regulatory Actions

Polymarket previously faced regulatory scrutiny in 2022 when the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) imposed a $1.4 million fine on its parent company, Blockratize.

The CFTC alleged that Polymarket offered off-exchange binary options contracts without proper registration. Polymarket was required to wind down non-compliant markets and adhere to Commodity Exchange Act regulations as part of the settlement.

The CFTC highlighted that Polymarket had operated over 900 event-based binary option markets since June 2020. These markets allowed users to trade contracts on specific outcomes, such as cryptocurrency prices or election results using blockchain-hosted smart contracts.

Debate on Decentralized Prediction Markets

The latest restriction on Polymarket also renews attention on decentralized prediction markets and their classification. In August 2024, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin addressed criticism surrounding these platforms. He clarified that prediction markets, such as Polymarket, function as tools for collective insight into significant events.

Buterin underscored their role in providing data-driven predictions without editorial bias, contrasting their function with traditional media or social platforms.

According to him, aligning Polymarket with the global gambling category is “a massive misunderstanding” of prediction markets or why people are excited about them.

Shiba Inu Lead Kusama Believes SHIB Can Reach $1T Cap, Says Doubters Will Be Surprised

0

Shytoshi Kusama, the enigmatic Shiba Inu ecosystem lead, has expressed agreement with the view that the SHIB token could reach a trillion-dollar market cap.

In a recent tweet, Shiba Inu enthusiast “Shib Research” shared a highly optimistic prediction for the SHIB token. The commentator boldly stated that SHIB could one day reach a market cap in the trillions.

Moreover, the enthusiast argued that SHIB would play a central role in a new financial system built on Shibarium. Given the radical nature of this forecast, Shib Research acknowledged facing skepticism from others, who see it as far-fetched.

Regardless, they remain confident that this vision could come to fruition someday, though they recognize it’s not something they actively think about on a daily basis.

Shiba Inu Lead Agrees with Trillion-Dollar Market Cap Forecast

Shytoshi Kusama, the mysterious and influential leader of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, responded to Shib Research’s tweet with a message of reassurance and excitement.

Kusama acknowledged that the general public might be surprised by such bold projections. However, in his view, those closely following the development of Shiba Inu and Shibarium should not be too startled by the potential future success.

“They’ll be surprised,” Kusama remarked, essentially agreeing that Shiba Inu could someday claim a trillion-dollar market cap.

Shiba Inu Price at $1T Cap

For context, Shiba Inu currently ranks as the 15th biggest crypto asset with a market cap of $12.21 billion. At this market cap, SHIB is trading at $0.00002073.

To attain a $1 trillion market cap, Shiba Inu’s value would need to grow by 80 times or 8,090%. Notably, a $1 trillion cap would correspond to a Shiba Inu price of $0.001696, a scenario in which SHIB would drop two more zeros.

Shiba Inu Marketer Argues for $5.9 Trillion SHIB Cap

Interestingly, Shiba Inu content specialist Lucie has previously expressed optimism for an even greater valuation for SHIB.

Specifically, in March 2024, she disclosed that she continues to believe Shiba Inu could reach a price of $0.01—the popular “one cent” dream—someday in the future. Notably, $0.01 would imply an approximately $5.9 trillion market cap for Shiba Inu.

Essentially, the leadership within the Shiba Inu project shares a unanimous view on trillion-dollar valuations for SHIB’s future.

According to them, those paying close attention to the ongoing development will have no issue welcoming these lofty outlooks.

XRP Breakout Explained as Analyst Identifies New XRP Profit-Taking Zone

0

Market analyst Arthur identifies a new XRP profit-taking zone amid the recent 10% price surge and subsequent pullback.

XRP captured market attention over the weekend with a surprising rally that pushed its price up nearly 10% on Saturday, Jan. 11. This surge marked a retest of the $2.60 resistance level, a price XRP hadn’t approached in a month.

However, the upward momentum faced a pullback shortly after, leaving market participants wondering what could come next. Arthur, a seasoned market analyst, shared his perspective on the breakout, the pullback, and potential future movements for XRP.

XRP Breaks Above Symmetrical Triangle

Arthur described the weekend rally as a bullish breakout from a symmetrical triangle pattern on the daily chart. Such patterns typically lead to major price moves, and XRP’s breakout aligns with increasing momentum and volume.

Despite the promising setup, the market analyst noted that confirmation of the uptrend is important before investors fully commit.  According to him, this could happen through price stability above key levels.

He called attention to XRP’s trading volume during the ensuing pullback. While volume increased, it didn’t surge to extraordinary levels, which could indicate hesitation among sellers.

Similarly, the current pullback has shown relatively low trading volume, suggesting it might be a temporary correction rather than the start of a bearish reversal. This adds weight to the theory that XRP could continue its upward trajectory once the market digests recent gains.

However, The Crypto Basic recently confirmed that XRP Open Interest in the derivatives market has surged to a new peak above $5 billion during the correction.

Arthur also highlighted the relative strength index (RSI). At 59.72, XRP’s RSI indicates moderate bullish sentiment. Importantly, it remains below the overbought threshold of 70, signaling that there is room for further price appreciation.

XRP Profit-Taking Zone

Meanwhile, the analyst identified several key levels that traders should monitor. On the downside, $2.50 is an important support level, as it was the previous resistance before the breakout.

According to him, if this level fails to hold, deeper support zones at $2.20 and $1.80 could come into play. On the upside, $2.80 is the next significant resistance target, followed by the psychologically important $3.00 mark. Arthur noted that these levels serve as profit-taking zones for investors.

Arthur presented two potential scenarios for XRP’s near-term direction. If the asset successfully retests $2.50 as support while maintaining momentum, it could rally toward $2.80 or even $3.00.

On the flip side, if selling pressure increases and XRP falls back into the symmetrical triangle, it could retrace to $2.20 or $1.80. In either case, the analyst urged traders to monitor volume.

He also discussed the importance of liquidity zones, essentially areas where significant trading activity occurs. Between $2.80 and $3.00, Arthur identified an upper liquidity zone where many short sellers might have placed stop-loss orders.

If breached, these levels could trigger additional buying pressure, pushing prices higher. Conversely, the lower liquidity zone between $2.20 and $1.80 could act as a magnet for accumulation if prices dip, setting the stage for a rebound.

Despite the pullback, Arthur remains optimistic. The rally demonstrated bullish momentum, but confirmation at key levels remains essential. At press time, XRP has broken below $2.50, now trading for $2.44 amid a 3.45% drop in the past 24 hours.

Dogecoin Price Prediction: Here’s How High DOGE Could Go If Bitcoin Reaches $13M

0

The Dogecoin price could reach an audacious two-digit figure if it follows Bitcoin’s path as Bitcoin targets the $13 million goal.

Saylor: Bitcoin to $13 Million

For context, the $13 million goal was conceived by MicroStrategy Chairman and Bitcoin bull Michael Saylor last year. Speaking with CNBC’s Squawk Box last September, Saylor boldly predicted that Bitcoin could reach $13 million in 2045, twenty years from now.

His prediction came at a time when Bitcoin was battling to conquer the $60,000 price territory after relinquishing it in August 2024. At the time of Saylor’s prediction, Bitcoin changed hands around $58,000. However, this battle at the $60,000 region did not discourage the Bitcoin advocate.

Notably, Saylor’s bullish stance on Bitcoin indirectly translates to a bullish stance on the broader crypto market despite him being a Bitcoin maxi. This is due to the close correlation between Bitcoin and the rest of the crypto market, particularly the top altcoins.

Dogecoin Price Correlation with Bitcoin

For instance, CoinMarketCap data indicates that Dogecoin price has followed Bitcoin’s direction over the past week amid the ongoing market uncertainty. However, the leading meme coin witnesses more substantial declines and gains due to its higher volatility.

Dogecoin and Bitcoin Price Correlation
Dogecoin and Bitcoin Price Correlation

This close price relationship confirms that altcoins like Dogecoin are likely to benefit greatly should Bitcoin reach the ambitious $13 million price target set by Michael Saylor.

To put things into perspective, Bitcoin currently trades for $94,250, down nearly 5% in the last seven days. For the crypto asset to reach the $13 million goal, it will have to rally by a massive 13,693%. Further, an increase from $94,250 to $13 million translates to a CAGR of 27.9% over a twenty-year period.

Dogecoin Price if BTC Hits $13M

If Dogecoin’s price follows Bitcoin’s trajectory and witnesses a similar growth rate, its price would spike by 13,693% in the next twenty years. With DOGE currently changing hands at $0.3325 at press time, a 13,693% gain would lead to $45.86.

Given Bitcoin’s and Dogecoin’s historical price performances, a CAGR of 27.9% remains highly feasible. For context, Bitcoin witnessed a 120.9% annual increase in 2024 alone, mostly due to its upsurge in Q1 and Q4. Meanwhile, DOGE saw a more substantial 252.8% rise in 2024.

Nonetheless, bear market years could dampen this projected growth. Despite this, price spikes during bull runs might make up for the increase that these crypto assets could record in a few years, considering the CAGR of 27.9%.

Why Cardano is on the Cusp of a Bullish Breakout According to This Market Veteran

0

Cardano (ADA) could be on the cusp of a bullish breakout, according to prominent crypto analyst Ali Martinez.

Like most crypto assets, the price of Cardano‘s native token ADA has struggled in the past few weeks amid macroeconomic headwinds. Just last week, the asset tanked about 24% from new year highs of $1.1519 to lows of $0.8789 as strong U.S. economic numbers tempered hopes of a near interest rate cut.

Still, analysts remain optimistic about ADA’s prospects. One such market watcher has now suggested that the asset has bullish undercurrents brewing below its recent price action.

Cardano (ADA) Buying Pressure

Cardano’s ADA could be on the cusp of a bullish breakout, according to prominent crypto analyst Ali Martinez. The analyst disclosed this in a video shared on Sunday, January 12, citing whale accumulation and a consolidation pattern.

As highlighted by Martinez, ADA whales, investors with holdings between 100 million and 1 billion coins, have accumulated 90 million ADA worth over $84.5 million over the past four days.

Martinez asserted that this buying pressure was supportive of a bullish breakout from a symmetrical triangle the asset was forming on the four-hour candle chart.

According to the analyst, this breakout could set ADA up for a rally to the $1.50 price point if it is able to break resistance at $1.10.

The target represents a 60% upside potential from the asset’s current $0.9396 price.

The Beginning of Cardano’s (ADA) Road to $6?

Martinez has previously suggested that ADA’s main target in the current cycle is $6. The analyst expressed this view on January 2, arguing that the asset was replicating its price action from the 2021 bull market.

The $6 target is almost twice the asset’s $3.1 all-time high and represents a nearly 540% upside potential from current prices.

Shiba Inu Lead Says Team Not Ignoring BONE for TREAT

0

Shiba Inu enigmatic leader, Shytoshi Kusama, reacts to claims suggesting that the team is prioritizing its upcoming token TREAT over BONE.

Some community members raised this concern after leading crypto exchange KuCoin announced its listing of TREAT, the incoming reward token of the Shiba Inu ecosystem.

KuCoin, alongside Gate.io and Bitget, announced that users will be able to trade TREAT starting January 14 at 11:00 a.m. (UTC). Following this announcement, the team behind the Shiba Inu ecosystem launched a promotional event to airdrop TREAT to users of these exchanges.

Community Suggests Shiba Inu Team Is Prioritizing TREAT Over BONE

While several community members commended TREAT’s listing on these major exchanges, some criticized the team for prioritizing the reward token over BONE.

In particular, pseudonymous community member Jon Snow asserted that investors expect the team to replicate its dedication toward BONE as displayed for TREAT.

Notably, the user urged the team to start working on BONE’s listing and integration on major platforms. This request sparked further debate within the community.

X user DankDollar argued that TREAT cannot succeed without BONE and Shibarium’s integration. This commentator proceeded to hurl insults at Kusama, describing the Shiba Inu leader as “irrational” in judgment.

Shiba Inu Lead Reacts, “I Won’t Forget Any Part of the Ecosystem”

Reacting, Kusama emphasized the team’s commitment to the entire Shiba Inu project. Specifically, he rejected the notion that it would ignore any component of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, including BONE.

“You think I would work my tail off for years and forget ANY part of the system,” Kusama remarked, labeling this claim a joke.

This indicates that the team has no plans to ignore any project within its ecosystem, including BONE, which serves as ShibaSwap’s governance token and the official gas token of Shibarium.

Kusama Criticizes FUDders for Spreading Misinformation About BONE

In a follow-up post, the Shiba Inu leader reacts to misconceptions about BONE. For context, a so-called Solidity developer with the username @shallowhal-i4n suggested that the Shiba Inu ecosystem team can potentially increase BONE’s supply by minting more tokens.

According to the user, the BONE contract shows that the token is still mintable despite the team’s claim that it renounced the contract in 2023.

Notably, Kusama characterized this claim as FUD, noting that the accusation is coming when the team prepares for TREAT’s launch.

He suggested that the timing of the FUD was a deliberate attempt to break the community’s spirit. The lead developer indicated that these bad actors will not succeed in their quest to sabotage the Shiba Inu ecosystem.

“I don’t move until the pieces are in place,” he noted, implying that the team follows a strategic plan in introducing projects and cannot be distracted by FUDs.

As reported earlier, Shiba Inu’s top developer, Kaal Dhairya, issued a statement refuting claims that the team can still mint BONE. According to him, the BONE contract has already been renounced via the TopDog contract, preventing the further minting of additional tokens.

In the meantime, the Shiba Inu community is focused on TREAT’s launch, scheduled for tomorrow, January 14. Notably, TREAT will trade on KuCoin, Bitget, and Gate.io, with users of these exchanges expected to receive some portions of the token via an airdrop.

XRP Open Interest Hits New All-Time High of $5.42B, Will Price Follow?

0

Derivative interest in XRP has surged to unprecedented highs as optimism of a price push to its all-time high intensifies.

XRP’s open interest is rising as the buzz around the ecosystem has continued to attract leveraged traders. On January 12, the open interest—a metric that shows the total market worth of open futures trades—has surged to a new all-time high.

The uptick comes as XRP price records an impressive but surprising spike in the past few days. For context, XRP surged 10% on Saturday amid the ongoing consolidation. Before this consolidation, XRP saw a massive 282% rise in November 2024, but open interest managed only a high of $4.29 billion.

However, the growing positive sentiments around the ecosystem have created liquidity, a component that is sooting to derivative traders as price looks to recover. This renewed interest also connotes heightened expectations of an imminent XRP price bounce.

Open Interest Reaches $5.42B

Data from Coinglass shows that open derivative interest in the XRP ecosystem reached an unprecedented high of $5.42 billion on Sunday, trouncing its previous record of $4.49 billion on January 7. However, it has consolidated to $5.37 billion as of today.

XRP Open Interest

Further analysis of open interest distribution per exchange shows that Bitget interestingly leads the pecking order. The exchange accounts for over 25% of XRP’s open futures contract, with $1.38 billion.

Bybit and Binance occupy the second and third positions, respectively, with $1.16 billion and $1.08 billion. Meanwhile, Gate.io and OKX complete the top five, with open contracts worth $907 million and $279 million.

XRP Seeing Bullish Developments

Meanwhile, the increased interest in XRP culminates in the latest buzz around its ecosystem. For context, Ripple recently launched the Ripple-USD (RLUSD), a native stablecoin that will expand settlement options on the XRP Ledger.

Furthermore, the XRP spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) buzz gained momentum last week. Ripple president Monica Long stated that the investment vehicle offering alternative exposure to the XRPL native token would follow the Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs.

Additionally, the meeting between Ripple’s CEO Brad Garlinghouse, CLO Stuart Alderoty, and US President-elect Donald Trump sparked traction towards XRP. Although the meeting’s details remain undisclosed, the crypto community saw the closed-door discussion as a bullish indicator.

Most importantly, the open interest uptick followed XRP’s impressive performance over the weekend. For context, the coin surged a combined 13% on Friday and Saturday, contributing immensely to the explosive derivative traction.

XRP Poised for New All-Time High

Meanwhile, market experts view surging open interest as an indication that the market is interested in an asset, which could spell bullish momentum. Moreover, the long/short ratio of 1.95 on Binance and 1.64 on OKX indicates traders are betting on higher prices for XRP.

However, XRP still trades within the micro range analyst Egrag Crypto identified. His analysis noted that proceedings remain unchanged until XRP breaks through the upper range at $2.9000.

He asserted that breaking past the crucial resistance would ensure XRP retests its all-time high of $3.5505. In the meantime, the digital asset trades at $2.4516, up 18% year-to-date.

Key Bitcoin Resistance Levels to Watch as It Bounces Off the 21 EMA

0

An analyst has identified key Bitcoin resistance levels for a significant upsurge as the asset bounces off the 21-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA).

Over the weekend, Bitcoin remained relatively stable, fluctuating within a narrow range of $94,000 to $95,000. As of the latest data, Bitcoin’s price is $94,173, reflecting a 5.31% drop in the last week.

While Bitcoin’s market capitalization holds at $1.864 trillion, its dominance has slipped to 54.2%. This modest decrease suggests a slight shift in investor preference towards alternative cryptos.

Amidst this calm, analyst Egrag assessed critical levels and potential future movements for the leading crypto. A key indicator in the analysis is the 21-day EMA dynamic support in the 3-day timeframe. Historically, Bitcoin has tended to bounce off this level, signaling potential price rebounds.

Accordingly, the analyst pointed to resistance levels at $103,000, $106,400, and $108,500 as potential next targets for Bitcoin. He stressed that a break above these levels could signal bullish momentum. In particular, Egrag noted that a close above $108,500 would be the ultimate bull signal for Bitcoin.

Concerns About CME Gap

While optimism surrounds potential resistance breakouts, concerns remain about a CME gap between $80,500 and $77,500. The analyst highlights this gap as a potential bearish target should Bitcoin face a downturn.

Historically, gaps in the futures market often attract price action, creating opportunities for filling these levels. With Bitcoin around $94K, a correction from this level could lead to declines exceeding 18% if the price possibly declines below the $77,500 range.

Veteran Market Analyst Weighs In

Veteran market analyst Peter Brandt has also provided insights, noting Bitcoin’s historical volatility and unpredictable chart patterns.

Brandt points to a possible Head and Shoulders (H&S) formation on the daily chart, which could suggest a decline to $73,000. However, he cautions against placing too much weight on this pattern, as Bitcoin’s charts often evolve into new formations, making them unreliable for precise predictions.

Bearish Levels to Watch for Bitcoin

Adding to the bearish concerns, analytics firm Glassnode pinpointed $88,000 as a critical price level for Bitcoin on Thursday. This figure represents the cost basis for short-term holders, who may sell as prices approach this range.

Given the lack of strong support below, the firm emphasizes that a sell-off at this level could trigger significant price declines.

According to Glassnode’s UTXO Realized Price Distribution, the next major support level appears near $73,000. This perspective aligns with the views of another market expert, who described the area below $92,000 as “free fall territory.”

Market Veteran Extends Olive Branch to XRP Holders, Reflects on Past Criticism

0

Veteran trader Peter Brandt, who has been active in the financial markets since 1975, has issued a public apology and extended an olive branch to XRP holders.

In a recent tweet, Brandt acknowledged that he had been harsh in his past criticism of XRP and its supporters.

He admitted to his rudeness but emphasized that his remarks were never intended to attack individuals personally. According to him, his critiques only targeted the speculative nature of the XRP asset and its volatile performance.

Brandt’s Perspective on Capital Preservation and Why XRP Falls Short

Notably, Brandt’s criticisms stemmed from his long experience in trading. Having built his career from modest beginnings, Brandt emphasized the importance of protecting capital.

This led him to question the wisdom of holding onto an asset like XRP, which has a long history of underperformance. Specifically, Brandt pointed out that XRP has historically experienced steep declines of up to 90% or more compared to Bitcoin, which Brandt views as the “store of wealth” standard. To him, this is unacceptable.

He explained that, as a trader, holding onto an asset that consistently loses value against a more stable one is “insanity.”

Meanwhile, Brandt clarified that it wasn’t the roller-coaster performance of XRP that he ridiculed. Instead, he focused on rather the “dogmatic, obnoxious” defense of the asset by some of its holders, even during periods of significant unrealized losses. His stance was rooted in his belief that protecting capital should be a top priority for any investor.

For context, while XRP is trading with an impressive 60-day gain of 272%, it is still down by 35% from its all-time high. Before now, XRP largely traded at around 85% of its peak value, with holders enduring losses for over half a decade.

In particular, XRP last saw an all-time high seven years ago. On the other hand, Bitcoin continues to reach new all-time highs as it enters a price discovery phase.

Essentially, Brandt pointed out that XRP holders’ refusal to acknowledge this financial deficit is what he had continuously criticized.

Parting Words: No More XRP Posts

In his message, Brandt made it clear that this would be his last public post about XRP, regardless of the response.

He offered his “olive branch” to the XRP community, thanking those who accepted it gracefully and leaving the door open for those who might respond with negativity or hostility.

Furthermore, Brandt reiterated that his trading philosophy revolves around cutting losses fast and allowing promising trades to grow, which he believes ensures long-term success. He closed with well-wishes for XRP holders, acknowledging their ongoing success.

However, he stood by his belief that an asset that regularly loses a significant portion of its value against a more stable asset is not a sound wealth-building strategy.

Notably, before now, Brandt had flipped bullish on XRP, suggesting that the asset could witness an explosive run in an analysis last November. At the time, XRP had broken out of its years-long consolidation following Donald Trump’s victory. His olive branch comes amid another impressive rally from XRP, which he recently called the “leader of the pack.”
