CryptoCom responds to Bone Listings Voices.

Singapore-Based World’s Leading Cryptocurrency Exchange, Crypto.com Urges Shiba Inu Community to Make a Noise for Bone ShibaSwap (BONE) Listing.

One of the random BONE fans with the username @BoneShibariumG posted a tweet while tagging Crypto.com and asked the Singapore-based cryptocurrency platform to consider listing Bone ShibaSwap on their platform.

Hearing the voice of the Shiba Inu Community, the official Twitter handle of Crypto.com Customer Support responded and said: “Should we add the BONE token, we’d let everyone know. Make sure to follow us on our social media channels for all the latest updates and announcements!”

However, Crypto.com doesn’t provide further details yet, but such a response from the world’s most trusted Exchange Company clearly indicates that they’re seriously considering a BONE listing.

Bone ShibaSwap, the governance token of the Shiba Inu Ecosystem, is really gaining a lot of traction these days from centralized cryptocurrency exchanges as the much-anticipated Shibarium launch is near, and BONE will be used as a native “Gas Token” on the Shibarium Layer-2 solution. As per the last update from the blockchain services provider Unification XFUND, the Shibarium Public Beta TestNet is expected to come to life in Q3.

In the past two weeks, two major global cryptocurrency exchanges, LBANK and Bitmart, added support for Bone ShibaSwap, and trading is now live on these platforms.

Based in Singapore, Crypto.com is recognized as one of the top cryptocurrency exchanges in the world based on the daily trading volume. As per data provided by CoinMarketCap (CMC), the traders have exchanged hands with $394,279,760 ($394.27M) worth of digital assets on Crypto.com in the past 24 hours. As of 2022, the world’s fastest and most secure crypto exchange has served more than 50 million users, Wikipedia reports. Crypto.com users can enjoy trading more than 200 pairs on the spot, margins with up to 10x leverage, and 40+ quarterly futures and perpetual contracts.

Cardano Developer Launches Mercury: A Wallet-to-Wallet Cardano Chat Platform

Cardano developer Avatar Nick has launched a Cardano wallet chat system for the Cardano community.

Cardano is one of the most versatile projects in the crypto industry. In light of this, the Cardano community is attempting to utilize the blockchain the best they can. In the latest of such attempts, a Redditor who goes by Avatar Nick is working with his brother to launch a wallet-to-wallet chat system on Cardano.

Nick revealed Wednesday’s development on his social media accounts: Reddit and Twitter. “Today, we are launching Mercury! A Cardano wallet chat system,” Nick said in a Reddit post. He then further shared a video recording illustrating how the chat platform would function.

The platform would function as a peer-to-peer chat system. Per the illustration, Cardano users could log into the system using their Cardano wallet addresses. To chat with another Cardano user, one must type the user’s Cardano address in the provided field.

Several Cardano community users asked questions about the project, prompting Nick to reveal more useful information on it. He noted that the system is still “technically a centralized system” despite being built on a blockchain. Nick further mentioned that the messages are not transactions and do not incur any fees.

Questions requiring information on the encryption of the conversations have not received any answers yet. Some users have noted that they would not use the platform without an end-to-end encryption guarantee. Furthermore, Nick added that the platform is free of charge.

Nick and his brother Chris, who go by their first names alone in the community, developed an NFT project on the Cardano blockchain last week. The project dubbed SaturnNFT provides an easy approach to NFT collection creation on the Cardano blockchain.

According to Nick, these projects are their efforts to bring Cardano to the same level as Ethereum in terms of versatility in the ecosystem. The Cardano blockchain, often acclaimed as one of the “Ethereum Killers,” appears to grow massively since its launch in 2017 by Charles Hoskinson.

The Crypto Basic previously revealed that Cardano’s TVL had seen a massive surge in the past week following the announcement of the Vasil Hard Fork date. The Cardano decentralized exchange protocol ADAX Pro contributed the most to the TVL growth, with a 2,525% increase in 7 days.

Dates For Voting And Activation Of Terra LUNA Classic (LUNC) 1.2% Burn Tax Proposal Disclosed

0

Terra Classic LUNAtics inch closer to voting and approving a 1.2% tax proposal.

In a tweet yesterday, LUNC Burn, a Twitter account dedicated to tracking LUNC burn activities, disclosed that the 1.2% tax proposal for LUNC will be available for voting on September 10 and, if approved, activated around September 20.

“This is the official date’s for the proposal to activate the 1.2% tax burn. The prop will be on or before 10th September, and the activation date once it passes will be on or around 20th September,” the LUNC burn tracker wrote.

Notably, statements from LUNA Burn confirm sentiments from TerraRebel, a Terra Classic community group. In a tweet yesterday, the group informed users to expect the tax proposal to be available for voting within a week.

It bears mentioning that LUNC has surged in response to the idea of the tax proposal to reduce the excess supply of LUNC tokens. As reported by The Crypto Basic, the renewed demand saw KuCoin run out of the token as it surged by over 65%. Additionally, the trading volume on Binance peaked at over $1 billion.

If approved, the 1.2% tax proposal will see users pay a 1.2% fee on all on-chain transactions, including wallet interactions and smart contracts. This fee is then sent to the Terra-provided burn wallet to reduce the LUNC supply. Notably, the parameter change can not be applied to exchanges without the support of exchanges. Consequently, this has been a cause for concern for some users as most LUNC transactions occur on central exchanges.

However, two exchanges, including MEXC Global, have already supported the proposal. Notably, MEXC, as part of its two-week event to show support for the proposal, has already burned about 48 million LUNC in trading fees. While the proposal makes LUNC transactions more expensive, it appears that Terra Classic LUNAtics have qualms about paying the price.

The idea of taxing LUNC transactions first came in June. Still, a more comprehensive proposal by community member Edward Kim earlier this month has gained traction. Notably, LUNC DAO, a LUNC community validator, recently disclosed that LUNC community members had opened lines of communication with Terra founder Do Kwon.

LUNC is trading at the $0.0003508 price point, up 124.39% in the last seven days.

Ripple ODL Partner To Facilitate Cross-Border Remittances from Canada to Mexico in New Partnership

Ripple’s ODL solution has been tapped for cross-border settlements from Canada to Mexico.

Ripple On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) cryptocurrency exchange Bitso has partnered with Africhange to facilitate cross-border settlements between Mexico and Canada.

Africhange has successfully processed cross-border payments worth $70 million from Canada to Nigeria. With Africhange seeking to expand its services to Mexico, the company partnered with Bitso, thus allowing remittances to be sent from Canada to Mexico.

Rationale Behind the Partnership

According to an announcement, there has been a growing population of Mexicans who live and work in Canada due to the massive job opportunities in the country.

As of 2020, nearly 130,000 Mexicans reside in Canada, with the number skyrocketing in the last two years. At the moment, 21% of Canada’s population are immigrants. These immigrants, representing 15% of Canada’s population, constantly send money back home to their families and loved ones. Citing a report shared by Data Mexico, Africhange said a total of $146 million had been sent to Mexico from Canada as of 2022.

Commenting on the development, Olatunji Obaoye, Senior Product Manager at Africhange, said:

“By leveraging the blockchain and partnering with Bitso, one of the biggest cryptocurrency platforms in Latin America, we aim to provide a cross-border exchange experience that’s seamless, cheap, and fast.”

Obaoye added that Africhange wants to help Mexican immigrants living in Canada to easily send money back home to their loved ones. The company makes this possible by addressing the major constraints of cross-border settlements, like slow transaction process and high cost of transfers.

Carlos Lovera, Partnerships and Business Development Lead at Bitso, said:

“We are very happy to announce this partnership with Africhange, which reinforces our commitment to bring useful crypto products to migrant communities while confirming Bitso’s leadership in one of the most successful use cases of crypto technology: cross-border payments.”

Bitso is a top Latin American crypto company that has continued to foster cross-border payments using Ripple solutions. As reported by TheCryptoBasic, the cryptocurrency exchange collaborated with Everest for cross-border remittance to Mexico using XRP. It is noteworthy that Bitso has been a major player in large amounts of XRP transfers made recently.

Ripple Senior Advisor Says More CBDC Announcements Coming in “Next Few Weeks”

0

Welfare said he would reveal more of Ripple’s CBDC announcements soon.

Leading Silicon Valley tech company Ripple is a global payment provider, and its payment solutions have been widely adopted across borders.

While several corporate entities, like SBI Holdings, have partnered with Ripple for cross-border settlements, a few countries have selected the fintech company for Central Bank-backed Digital Currency (CBDC) projects.

In a recent interview, Anthony Welfare, Ripple’s Senior Advisor, revealed that the blockchain company is currently working on various CBDC pilots for nations like Bhutan and the Republic of Palau.

“Ripple has several pilots in progress for CBDCs, including the Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) of Bhutan and the Republic of Palau,” Welfare said in a recent interview.

He added that the major focus of RippleX is not only to allow developers to build on the XRP Ledger but to partner with top firms and countries for different initiatives, including CBDC.

“For Ripple, Crypto is in our DNA: our RippleX business unit is focused on making it easy for developers to build on and with the XRP Ledger, as well as partnering with others in the crypto space on use cases like NFTs and CBDCs (aka tokenized assets),” Welfare added.

A prominent Ripple supporter Crypto ERI shared the development on Twitter, drawing the attention of other XRP holders to the news. Interestingly, the tweet attracted not only the attention of XRP holders but also Welfare, who disclosed that Ripple would make more CBDC announcements in the coming weeks.

Significance of the Initiative

Welfare’s comment is considered massive to the XRP holders, given the importance of the initiative to the crypto asset. In a recent video shared by Ripple, the company noted that all new CBDC solutions would leverage XRPL for cross-border settlements.

according to Ripple Team:

“At ripple, we enable governments and central banks around the world to create new high-performance financial infrastructures built on blockchain technology more specifically; we help governments build and launch central bank digital currencies or CBDC.

These national currencies are powered by modern secure, centralized, and scalable technology. These CBDCs will enable central banks to implement their monetary policies more efficiently and effectively.

The Ripple team brings a wealth of expertise to every new CBDC solution working with hundreds of financial institutions, policymakers, and regulators; our solutions facilitate billions of dollars in cross-border payments around the globe.

Ripple’s CBDC solution is based upon one of the most reliable, sustainable, and open-source blockchain protocols, the XRP ledger (XRPL).

The XRP ledger technology is perfect for CBDC blockchain applications. It’s fast, with transactions completing two to three seconds, and it’s easily customizable and programmable. it’s reliable, having closed over 72 million transactions since 2012.

The ledger’s native functionality for issuing digital currencies also reduces the need for bespoke programming and reduces the risk. Finally, the technology is sustainable as one of the first carbon-neutral blockchains; each pilot is completely customizable and shaped to the needs of the central bank by an expert team.”

The more countries choose Ripple as their official CBDC partner, the more it will increase the adoption and utility of the XRP coin, which has been on a massive decline following the ongoing lawsuit between Ripple and the SEC.

Mysterious Wallet Moves 73,840 Ethereum to Huobi in One Transaction As ETH Dips 8%

Mysterious Wallet Moves 73,840 ETH to Huobi in the Wake of ETH’s Upcoming Merge.

Popular crypto platform WhaleAlert has observed a large deposit of Ethereum on Huobi, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges. The transaction, made just a few hours ago, amounted to 73,840 ETH, worth approximately $111 million at current prices. The identity of the wallet that made the transaction is unknown.

While it is not immediately clear why whales are trying to adopt selling, it comes at a time when there is a great deal of excitement and speculation surrounding Ethereum’s impending merger with its Beacon Chain, a PoS chain launched in Dec 2020. The long-awaited Merge is scheduled to take place within the next few days and is expected to be a significant catalyst for the growth of the Ethereum network.

Some experts believe ETH will boom in the wake of its upcoming Merge. If the price of Ethereum surged, the whales could see massive profits. This is not the first time large amounts of Ethereum have been transferred ahead of a major event. Just recently, an unknown whale moved 260,000 ETH (worth $434 million at the time) to Binance.

It’s still unclear what the purpose of these transactions is, but they could be related to speculative trading or even market manipulation. Either way, it’s yet another sign that big money.

The price of Ethereum has been on the rise in recent weeks in anticipation of the Merge. However, Ethereum is down nearly 8% in 24 hours to around $1,520, according to Coinmarketcap, as whale might be applying sell the news strategy.

With so much excitement and volatility surrounding the Merge, it’s no surprise that whales are making moves. Only time will tell the true motives behind these large ETH deposits. But one thing is for sure; the Merge will be a major event in the crypto world.

Hoskinson Says Sea of Red Does Not Reflect Cardano Strength As Crypto Markets Are Disconnected From Reality

Hoskinson laments plummeting crypto prices.

In a two-tweet thread on Twitter today, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson said that the crypto markets are disconnected from reality as prices keep falling in the face of macroeconomic constraints despite the strength of several crypto products asserting that “Cardano has never been stronger.”

Hoskinson says the crypto focus should not be on price but on how much utility the project provides. Additionally, the Cardano founder asserted that Cardano is changing the world thanks to the budding community, adding, “our best days are ahead of us.”

“A universal truth about crypto is that the markets are disconnected from reality. Cardano has never been stronger and frankly many other projects are also solid across the industry, yet you don’t see that reflected- just a sea of red. Macro factors always win out.”

It is worth noting that Cardano is on the brink of what developers tout as its most significant upgrade yet, the Vasil hard fork. The upgrade is set to improve user experience by improving the throughput and reducing gas fees. Additionally, it will help developers create more robust smart contracts and decentralized finance (DeFi) applications with improvements to its smart contract scripting language Plutus.

Notably, last Friday, the development team behind the Cardano network, Input Output Global (IOG), and Hoskinson confirmed that they expect the upgrade to go live on the main network (mainnet) on September 22. The new date comes after the upgrade experienced delays on two different occasions, owing to errors found in testing.

Consequently, with an assurance of the date of the upgrade, the Cardano ecosystem has seen a massive boost in Total Value Locked (TVL). As reported by The Crypto Basic, most decentralized apps (dApps) have seen a TVL boost of at least 10% in the last seven days.

As the buzz around the project heightens, Lunar Crush, a social sentiment tracker, ranked Cardano as the number one altcoin based on social and market activity on Sunday. It bears mentioning that the network’s token ADA has recently seen greater demand across exchanges, earning a listing on Robinhood at the beginning of the month.

Despite these strong fundamentals, ADA is trading at the $0.4616 price point, 9.42% down in the last 24 hours.

Former U.S. Prosecutor Shares Scheduling Updates for Ripple vs. SEC Lawsuit, Says Lawsuit To End Before March 31, 2023

0

Attorney James Filan has shared a scheduling update for the Ripple vs. SEC lawsuit.

The ongoing legal battle between Ripple and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has continued to linger for over a year. While the lawsuit was expected to be over before the end of 2021, several issues emerged that further pushed the suit’s conclusion.

Some legal analysts, like attorney James K. Filan, expect the Ripple vs. SEC lawsuit to come to its logical conclusion on March 31, 2023. However, there is a tendency that the lawsuit could linger further than the expected date.

Attorney Filan, a former federal prosecutor, recently shared a scheduling update for the ongoing lawsuit between Ripple and the SEC.

Motions to Exclude Expert Testimony

According to Filan, many disputes still need to be addressed, and the motions to exclude expert testimony top the list. The parties filed the motion to exclude expert testimony under seal on July 12, 2022. The process continued until August 30, 2022, when the parties filed replies to all opposition.

Currently, the court has fully briefed all portions of the opposition. However, any requests to seal portions of the exclusion motion replies must be filed on or before September 9, 2022, while responses to these requests must be filed by September 16, 2022.

Dispute Over Hinman’s Documents

Another critical issue that needs to be fully addressed is the SEC’s attorney-client privilege claim over William Hinman’s documents. It can be recalled that the SEC’s moves to keep the draft of Hinman’s 2018 speech were denied on multiple occasions by Judge Sarah Netburn. With Judge Netburn turning down the SEC’s attorney-client privilege claims, the commission was prompted to object to the ruling before Judge Analisa Torres.

Judge Torres is yet to rule on the Securities and Exchange Commission’s objection to surrendering the Hinman documents. Attorney Filan noted that if Judge Torres turns down the SEC’s objection, the agency may be prompted to file an interlocutory appeal to the Second Circuit.

However, for this to happen, the SEC would have to request certification of an interlocutory appeal from Judge Torres, which usually takes time. Interestingly, attorney Filan does not think Judge Torres would grant the certification in the Ripple case.

Motions for Summary Judgment

Furthermore, the parties must file a motion for summary judgment and Rule 56.1 statements by September 13, 2022. Opposition to the motions must be filed by October 18, 2022, and replies to each opposition will follow by November 15, 2022.

The parties are expected to also encounter sealing disputes in the summary judgment, just like the expert challenge motions.

“I am sticking to my prediction that District Judge Torres will decide both the expert and the summary judgment motions simultaneously – on or before March 31, 2023. I have no prediction on when the Hinman email dispute will be fully and finally resolved,” attorney Filan said.

Yesterday Attorney Hogan said that Ripple and SEC could settle before December 2022.

Two US States Washington and Pennsylvania To Tax NFTs

0

Washington and Pennsylvania Lead the Way in NFT Taxation.

Digital assets are notoriously difficult to tax due to the lack of transparency around who owns and trades them. This is especially true for non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which are unique digital assets that can’t be interchangeably exchanged like traditional cryptocurrencies.

Recently, two states have taken steps to change this by becoming the first in the US to explicitly list NFTs as digital assets subject to sales and use taxes. Pennsylvania and Washington’s actions signal a growing understanding of the tax implications of NFTs, as well as a willingness to adapt existing tax laws to this new asset class.

Pennsylvania’s Department of Revenue was the first to act, adding NFTs to its “taxability matrix” in June without providing any accompanying guidance. Washington followed suit in July, publishing an interim statement that proposed a schema for determining the “sourcing” of NFTs (or where, for tax purposes, related transactions physically take place).

The present ecosystem around NFTs is not clear regarding the identities of buyers and sellers, down to where they are located. Additionally, the way NFTs are currently being used – often as unique digital collectibles rather than for utility purposes – means that there is no easy way to value them for tax purposes.

NFTs Taxation Rules

Pennsylvania and Washington’s actions demonstrate a recognition of the need to provide clarity around the taxation of NFTs, even as the asset class itself continues to evolve. As NFTs become more popular and their use cases expand, other states will likely follow suit in clarifying their stance on taxation.

NFT regulation is still in its early days; thus, future changes might occur. The International Revenue Service (IRS) has perceived cryptocurrency as property since 2014; any benefits made from its utilization are subject to duty. As a component of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act marked into law in November 2021, President Biden required new revealing prerequisites for cryptocurrency exchanges that would oblige organizations to gather extra data. The IRS is required to issue further rules for the government assessment of computerized resources to determine how these new arrangements are to be actualized.

For the time being, those engaged with purchasing, selling, or exchanging NFTs should know about the potential assessment ramifications in Pennsylvania and Washington. It is likewise essential to follow any changes at the government level that could affect how NFTs are taxed.
