Bitpanda, an Austrian cryptocurrency broker, announced Tuesday that it had raised $263 millions at a valuation of $4.1 billion in a financing round led by Valar Ventures. This venture capital firm was founded by billionaire Peter Thiel.
Since March, when the broker raised $ 170million at a valuation of $1.2 billion, it has more than tripled its valuation. The current round also includes investments by Alan Howard, UK hedge fund manager, Radio Ventures and Jump Capital.
Although cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin possess strong volatility in their prices, larger companies are slowly but surely adopting them. Coinbase, another cryptocurrency exchange, saw its valuation worth $112 Billion when Coinbase launched its IPO back in April.
