Time magazine named Ethereum co-founder, Vitalik Buterin as one of the most influential people this year, along with musicians, world leaders, activists and others.
Appearing on Time’s 2021 Innovator List, Buterin is named alongside Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and others. In his profile of Ethereum co-founder, Buterin’s role is cited in building the Ethereum network to a market cap of over $ 400 billion and encouraging the development of decentralized applications and non-fungible tokens, or NFTs.
Praising Vitalik, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian said:
“No one person could’ve possibly come up with all of the uses for Ethereum, but it did take one person’s idea to get it started. From there, a new world has opened up, and given rise to new ways of leveraging blockchain technology.”
In 2021, Ethereum has become a dominant force in the cryptocurrency market benefiting from NFTs hype.
Britney Spears, Simone Biles, Tom Brady, Donald Trump and Tucker Carlson are also among the list of most influential people of 2021. It is noteworthy that the President of El Salvador Nayib Bukele was also included in the list.
