A Bitcoin wallet containing 2,207 bitcoins (roughly $150 million at current prices) has become active for the first time in more than eight years, according to data from blockchain.com.
These coins were worth $294,287 when the address in question went dormant, which means the address gained a whopping 51,044% over the aforementioned time period.
The wallet moved all 2207 bitcoins and now the address holds only 87 USD.
While it is not entirely clear why the wallet owner decided to move his coins right now, it is safe to assume that he or she wants to make huge profits during the ongoing rally in Bitcoin after two brutal bear markets.
It is also possible that the holder was lucky enough to recover his mnemonic phrase eight years later.
In January, former Ripple CTO Stefan Thomas revealed that he could not access his bitcoin wallet, which contains $469 million worth of BTC.
