In 2021, Bitcoin became legal tender in El Salvador, the first country to make such a move. The country population already works with BTC, alongside the Dollar. El Salvador doesn’t have any local currency issued by their central bank, which facilitated the arrival of Bitcoin as a legal currency. El Salvador’s president vehemently believes other territories should adopt BTC as a legal tender.
Two countries will adopt Bitcoin in 2022
President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, makes optimistic forecasts for Bitcoin in 2022. He made a bold prediction saying that two more countries will adopt Bitcoin as their currency in 2022. He did not clarify which nations would that be and when this could happen despite his convictions.
Suppose the adoption of Bitcoin by two more countries is confirmed. In that case, the introduction of bitcoin to more people and the number of territories legally accepting BTC will double compared to 2021. In other words, this could be one of the most significant steps in the blossoming of BTC on a government level.
Bitcoin will reach US$ 100,000
In addition to being adopted by more countries, Nayib Bukele believes Bitcoin will reach the most anticipated $100,000 in price.
In the starting three days of 2022, Bitcoin price is moving sideways. Each Bitcoin is now worth $46,925 per unit. Over the last two years, in 2020 and 2021, the start of each year was followed by a solid upward rally in crypto prices. If 2022 followed previous years, we could see BTC approaching $100,000.
In addition, Bukele believes that Bitcoin will be a problem in the next election expected to take place in 2022 in the United States, scheduled for November.
His latest forecast is that he will go to The Bitcoin Conference 2022 event with a new surprise for the market. In 2021, he announced that digital gold would become legal tender in his country.
Recall that the government of El Salvador recently acquired 21 BTC to celebrate “the last 21 days of the 21st year of the 21st century.”
