Infobae Argentina news media informed about the development.

There is a mighty wave of adoption sweeping through the crypto space, and no sector of human endeavor is left out. Club Tigres UANL is the latest football club to accept Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in sports. The Mexican club is partnering with Bitso, a leading crypto exchange in the country, to let fans buy match tickets with Bitcoin and the company.

With a recent alliance, it will be achievable to complete purchases inside the Tigres stadium or buy tickets for matches.

“Fans who have crypto with Bitso can now buy their tickets for upcoming matches, such as Tigres-America, next April 23 at the Estadio Universitario.”

The alliance between the two has been in place since November last year but has finally yielded fruits, leading to a breakthrough for the club’s digitally inclined fans. Bitso will be working alongside Boletomóvil and BitPay to make this happen. All Bitso users can buy tickets using their cryptocurrencies on the exchange going forward.

“Our commitment is to make cryptocurrencies useful for all people,” said Daniel Vogel, Bitso Co-Founder, and CEO. “We love this agreement between Bitso and Boletomóvil that will allow the daily use of cryptocurrencies for our customers at Club Tigres sporting events, thus extending its use as a payment method for any type of event.”

Developing new opportunities for crypto

In a world where fiat currencies have been around for centuries, cryptocurrencies need all the adoptions they can get to compete favorably with such currencies. With this alliance, Bitso and BitPay are creating new opportunities for cryptocurrencies to be adopted into mainstream sports.

Bitso, with over 4 million users, will be providing liquidity, while BitPay, which has been processing Bitcoin payments for many years, will let fans convert currencies easily. Bitso, which is also the sponsor of the Mexican national team, says its goal is to help Mexican football find its place in the rapidly evolving global digital economy.

Notably, Tigres Femenil, the female section of Club Tigres, was the first club in Mexico to carry out a crypto transaction. It sold one of its players, Stefany Ferrer, to Angel City FC’s US team using crypto.
