Elon Musk Directly Mentions Shiba Inu in His Tweet After Two Years

Date:

The Tesla CEO and owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, mentions Shiba Inu amid Twitter rebranding, raising eyebrows within the crypto community.

Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of the social networking platform Twitter, has directly mentioned Shiba Inu, again triggering speculations within the broader crypto community.

This development came amid Twitter’s recent rebranding endeavor that saw the iconic Twitter bird logo swapped for a letter X shrouded in a dark theme. In response to this action, Jonah Katz, an engineer at Twitter, tweeted that he would scroll six hours a day even if Twitter rebranded itself to a donkey.

Musk replied to the post with a laughing emoticon, noting that Twitter had used a Shiba Inu-themed branding with no substantial metric:

“We rebranded to a Shiba Inu dog for a while. No impact,” the Twitter boss remarked. Musk was not making a direct reference to the Shiba Inu asset but the dog breed which represents the face of Dogecoin and Shiba Inu.

Shiba Inu vs. Twitter

The Tesla chief likely referred to the period Twitter used the Dogecoin avatar on its homepage. Notably, a quick scan of Musk’s Twitter account reveals that the last time he spotlighted Shiba Inu was precisely two years ago when he actively talked about other sensational cryptocurrencies such as Dogecoin and FLOKI

Expectedly, the billionaire’s recent mention of Shiba Inu has garnered widespread attention from crypto lovers, particularly Shiba Inu enthusiasts. Interestingly, Musk’s tweet got nearly 100k more engagement than Katz’s, which started the conversation.

Meanwhile, Ragnar Shib, a renowned figure in the Shiba Inu community, recently asked the newly appointed Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino to integrate Shiba Inu into the platform, as The Crypto Basic reported.

Ragnar proclaimed that Shiba Inu has the most vibrant and significant community in the crypto space that would be willing to offer a helping hand in integrating Shiba Inu with Twitter. However, Musk remains a die-hard proponent of Dogecoin.

On the other hand, the new Twitter CEO appears to be interested in Shiba Inu, as revealed in her Twitter followings. In May, The Crypto Basic confirmed she follows the official Twitter handle of the Shiba Inu token alongside other crypto projects.
