MetaMask users now enjoy a cutting-edge security alert feature to enhance protection against crypto scams.
In a recent tweet, Colin Wu, a prominent figure in the Chinese crypto community, disclosed that the renowned Web3 wallet MetaMask has joined forces with blockchain security provider Blockaid to help crypto enthusiasts mitigate the risks of a particular crypto scam.
Specifically, the MetaMask-Blockaid partnership has birthed a cutting-edge alert feature designed to shield users from potential phishing attacks.

MetaMask New Phishing Alert System
Notably, the collaboration centers around Blockaid’s decentralized application (dApp) scanning solution. In particular, Blockaid’s security system possesses the capability to comprehensively simulate all feasible user interactions with a dApp and subsequently assess the authenticity of such interactions to identify any malicious intent.
According to the report, the phishing security alert system is at the initial launch stage for mobile users. It noted the feature will make its debut on the MetaMask app next month, in November.
However, the alert system is already live for crypto enthusiasts accessing MetaMask via desktop. Therefore, users who participate in the experimental stages of the integration will receive alerts in cases where a transaction is deemed potentially malicious.
Also, the report noted that from early next year, the security alert system would function on the MetaMask wallet by default. Furthermore, the rolling out MetaMask-Blockaid security feature bears a privacy-oriented characteristic. The new module obviates the necessity of disclosing every individual transaction and signature request to external entities.
This robust MetaMask wallet security feature comes amid the unyielding recurrence of phishing frauds and exploits in the crypto sphere. According to Blockaid’s estimations, roughly 10% of the 5,000 new dApps that hit the market are potentially malicious.
In a recent report, Blockaid cited an incident where the X account of Vitalik Buterin, an Ethereum co-founder, was compromised to promote a phishing link. Blockaid noted that the scammers camouflaged a wallet-draining scheme as an NFT minting platform. In just an hour, the attackers had siphoned off approximately $1 million worth of crypto assets.
