XRP is struggling to translate positive ecosystem developments into price gains as the coin remains trapped in a multi-month trading range.
In a recent post on X, analyst ChartNerd said XRP has spent the last 10 weeks moving between a resistance ceiling around $1.50–$1.60 and a support floor near $1.25–$1.30.
The analyst attributed the lack of a continuous price increase to the asset’s technical structure rather than the absence of positive developments in the XRP ecosystem.
CoinMarketCap data shows XRP trading at $1.32, down 1.2% over the past 24 hours and 18% over the past 30 days. The coin has also declined 28% year-to-date, although it remains up 20.5% over the past 90 days.
XRP Price Trapped in a Parallel Channel
ChartNerd explained that XRP has spent roughly two months trading between its 20-week and 50-week exponential moving averages (EMAs), forming a parallel channel.
The analyst described the pattern as a period of price compression following its 70% rally in August. The attached chart shows XRP repeatedly moving between the channel’s lower boundary around $1.27–$1.30 and its upper region near $1.56–$1.60.
XRP’s latest price action places it close to the lower boundary. The token has struggled to regain higher levels after retreating from the $1.50 region earlier in October, with recent trading showing a brief rebound followed by another pullback.
According to ChartNerd, this consolidation is a normal technical development after a substantial advance. However, the analyst stressed that the next decisive move will depend on whether XRP breaks above resistance or loses its support floor.
$1.60 Breakout or $1.25 Breakdown?
ChartNerd identified two possible outcomes for XRP’s current structure. A clean break above the $1.50–$1.60 resistance zone will open the door to further gains as buyers have regained control after weeks of sideways trading.
On the downside, a loss of the $1.25–$1.30 support zone will expose XRP to further declines. The lower boundary has repeatedly served as a floor during the consolidation, making it a key level to watch as the coin trades near $1.32.
The analyst cautioned traders against anticipating either outcome before a confirmed breakout or breakdown. Until then, XRP could continue fluctuating within the established range.
Positive XRP Developments Have Yet to Lift Price
Meanwhile, ChartNerd also addressed frustration among XRP holders who expected positive ecosystem developments to translate into immediate price appreciation.
He argued that news and technical price action do not necessarily move in tandem over short periods. While developments in the ecosystem may support its long-term prospects, the current chart structure remains the more immediate factor shaping price behavior.
ChartNerd urged market participants to focus on the trading range rather than social media speculation, emphasizing that confirmation of a breakout or breakdown matters more than predictions.
