Bitstamp Says XRP Will Make History Next Year

0

Bitstamp, the world’s longest-running crypto exchange, has issued a bold, promising outlook for XRP as 2024 wraps up.

In a Friday tweet, the exchange boldly stated that XRP will make history in the crypto market by 2025. The tweet from Bitstamp quickly went viral in the crypto community, with the XRP Army cheering in support of the promising outlook.

Although Bitstamp did not explicitly specify the achievement it hopes XRP will attain by 2025, the most likely guess is related to its price. Aside from price, other milestones expected in 2025 related to XRP include the conclusion of Ripple’s lawsuit and the launch of ETFs.

XRP Historic Price by 2025

XRP has been trading below its all-time high for seven years. It last reached a peak value of $3.84 in January 2018 before tanking to $0.1151 by March 2020. This represented an astonishing loss of 97%, which occurred even before the XRP lawsuit.

Since this low of $0.1151, XRP has soared by 2,420% over the last four years to reach its most recent multi-year high of $2.90 on December 3, 2024. However, the value of XRP has retraced slightly and is now trading at $2.37. At this price, it is trading 38.69% below its all-time high.

Meanwhile, popular projections, like the latest one coming from Bitstamp, suggest that XRP will finally make history in 2025. For context, XRP only needs to rise by 62% to reclaim its 2018 all-time high of $3.84. Further gains would mark a new chapter for XRP, an event the XRP Army eagerly awaits.

Market commentators have offered multiple views on how high XRP could go by 2025. For some, a realistic all-time high for XRP is between $5 and $8, while for more optimistic analysts, double-digit values between $10 and $20 could be expected.

However, some ambitious analysts believe values above $100 are attainable, though such projections have been wisely dismissed as speculative and wishful thinking.

Caution for the XRP Army During XRP’s Historic Run

Commenting on Bitstamp’s projection, analyst JayDee expressed agreement that XRP will make history by 2025. However, he noted that the overwhelming majority of XRP holders may fail to capitalize on the promising market of 2025.

Specifically, he believes 95% of holders will get “rekt,” suggesting that those expecting overly ambitious prices for XRP by 2025 may be left holding the bag after the dust from the historic run settles.

Dogecoin to $10: Analyst Gives Timeline for Price Target

0

Notable market analyst Dima James Potts believes Dogecoin will surge to a double-digit figure this bull cycle, providing the timeline for its realization.

Dogecoin has shown strong recovery signs after a substantial correction yesterday. The doggy-themed meme coin bounced from an over six-week low of $0.26216 on Dec. 20, closing above $0.31000.

Furthermore, DOGE has continued its bullish momentum today, appreciating over 8% at press time to $0.345. Amid the bounce, a notable analyst, Dima James Potts, has provided his Dogecoin price target for this cycle.

Analyst Says $10 is Dogecoin’s Minimum Price Target

Potts acknowledged the crypto market’s cyclical paradigm, noting that Bitcoin and major digital assets tend to trounce their previous cycle’s highs in the fourth year of each bull run. With the analogy, the analyst predicted that Dogecoin would soon surpass its all-time high of $0.73995.

Furthermore, Potts stated that Dogecoin has outperformed its third-year performance in the last two bull cycles. For context, Dogecoin surged 72.37% in 2016 and 114.86% in 2020 but has appreciated by an impressive 282.67% this year.

Meanwhile, the commentary shows the analyst expects Dogecoin to close at around $0.31 this year before pushing to at least $10 next year. Notably, $10 is Potts’ base case prediction for 2025, as his chart shows the meme coin can reach $80 per coin, an extremely ambitious target.

Timeline for Dogecoin to $10

Concurrently, Potts provided a timeline for Dogecoin to reach the $10 target. According to his tweet today, the leading meme coin will attain this price level between February 11 and May 7, 2025.

The analyst suggested that Bitcoin might see multiple cycle tops next year. However, Dogecoin will peak on the premier asset’s first top within the date range.

Meanwhile, Potts speculated that growing adoption and technological advancement will drive Dogecoin’s rally next year. Notably, the seventh-largest cryptocurrency by market cap gained traction in November, as the establishment of the D.O.G.E. (Department of Government Efficiency) spurred attention.

Other Dogecoin to $10 Predictions

Additionally, Potts is not the only analyst speculating a Dogecoin surge to $10; other analysts have made similar calls. For instance, seasoned market analyst Ali Marinez asserted that Dogecoin will hit $10, citing a rally to the tip of its ascending triangle.

Meanwhile, Changelly and ChatGPT also predicted that Dogecoin will reach $10. The trading platform predicted that the meme coin would do so in 2040, while the AI bot expects this to happen between 2029 and 2034.

Here are 7 Events That Could Potentially Lead to Exponential XRP Upsurge

0

As market commentators expect further XRP upsurge, seven events are capable of supporting this anticipated price uptick.

Notably, XRP has performed exceptionally well over the past seven weeks, soaring 283% in November and sustaining gains in December despite the latest broader market correction that has pushed it to the lower end of the $2 mark.

XRP now trades for $2.35, up 3.23% this morning, but down by more than 5% over the past seven days. Amid the ongoing pullback, analysts believe XRP’s upward push is still at its infancy. Here are seven key events could further propel XRP’s value once the uptrend resumes:

Launch of RLUSD

Ripple introduced RLUSD, a U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin, on December 17, 2024. Ripple announced exchange partners like Bitso, Uphold, CoinMENA, MoonPay, and Archax, with plans for broader distribution.

This stablecoin, fully backed by U.S. dollar deposits, government bonds, and cash equivalents, aims to provide stability and liquidity within the market. The launch already positively impacted XRP’s price, catalyzing a surge to $2.7.

However, XRP has since corrected these gains amid the ongoing broader market pullback. While the RLUSD stablecoin might not directly impact XRP price in the future, Ripple CTO David Schwartz confirmed it could bolster liquidity, supporting price action.

Resolution of Ripple’s Legal Battle with the SEC

The Ripple vs. SEC lawsuit has lingered for four years. The most recent development saw District Judge Analisa Torres reduce the penalty against Ripple to $125 million, significantly less than the SEC’s initial $2 billion demand.

The SEC has filed a notice of appeal, indicating ongoing legal proceedings. However, some believe the forthcoming SEC leadership could throw away the case. A definitive resolution could remove regulatory uncertainties, potentially boosting XRP’s market position.

Approval of an XRP ETF

While the SEC has approved multiple Bitcoin ETFs, XRP-focused ETFs remain pending. Firms like Bitwise, Canary Capital, WisdomTree and 21Shares have filed for spot XRP ETFs, awaiting regulatory approval.

Notably, the approval of an XRP ETF could attract institutional investment, further enhancing liquidity and market confidence.

Onset of Altcoin Season

Altcoin season refers to a period when altcoins like XRP outperform Bitcoin. Market data suggests that a significant number of top altcoins have recently outperformed Bitcoin, signaling the onset of an altcoin season.

During such periods, assets such XRP often experience substantial price increases due to heightened investor interest and capital inflows. Market veteran Michaël van de Poppe has repeatedly teased the forthcoming alt season for this cycle.

Departure of SEC Chair Gary Gensler

Gary Gensler, the current SEC Chair, is set to resign on January 20, 2025. His tenure has been marked by stringent regulatory actions toward cryptocurrencies.

His departure could lead to a shift in the SEC’s approach to crypto regulation, potentially fostering a more favorable environment for crypto assets like XRP. Trump has picked pro-crypto Paul Atkins as his replacement.

Inauguration of President Donald Trump

President-elect Donald Trump, who has been a vocal support of the crypto industry, is scheduled to be inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, 2025. Ripple plans to contribute $5 million to the inauguration.

Industry leaders expect Trump’s administration to adopt a more crypto-friendly stance, which could lead to regulatory clarity and policies that support the growth of crypto assets, positively influencing XRP.

Establishment of Clearer Global Crypto Regulations

Globally, efforts are underway to create comprehensive regulatory frameworks for cryptocurrencies. In 2024, countries like Australia, the UK, Brazil, and South Korea have announced plans to introduce new regulations to provide clarity and protect investors.

Such developments can bolster market stability and encourage institutional participation, potentially benefiting XRP.

Ripple Pledges $5M in XRP to Donald Trump’s Inauguration

0

Crypto companies, including Ripple, contribute millions to fund the inauguration celebrations of United States President-Elect Donald Trump.

According to a FOX Business report, Ripple pledged to contribute $5 million worth of XRP to the Trump-Vance inaugural committee. This organization is responsible for funding the three-day inaugural celebration of Trump and his Vice JD Vance following their victory in last month’s presidential election.

Notably, the activities, including dinners, parades, and galas, will occur before and after Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2025. FOX Business claimed the company confirmed its contribution to the fund.

Other Crypto Companies Donations

Besides Ripple, other notable crypto companies have also donated heavily to the Trump-Vance inaugural committee. In particular, U.S. crypto exchanges Coinbase and Kraken donated $1 million each.

Other crypto companies, such as MoonPay and Robinhood, have also promised to contribute to the fund. However, they did not reveal the exact amount of their upcoming contributions.

Despite the contributions made by crypto outfits, their donations represent only a fraction of the $200 million the fund has raised so far. Interestingly, a source close to the fund expressed confidence that the figure could spike to $225 million before January 20.

Trump Wins Crypto Support

Meanwhile, the contributions from crypto companies demonstrate the industry’s growing confidence in Trump. According to FOX Business, the crypto industry has donated over $200 million in support of Trump throughout the election cycle.

Ripple was among the major donors from the crypto industry, with its Chief Legal Officer (CLO) Stuart Alderoty contributing 624,000 XRP, worth $300,000 at the time, to a Super PAC supporting Trump.

It should be recalled that Trump promised to provide lighter regulations for the industry compared to Biden’s approach to the sector. Since his reelection, Trump has made significant moves to keep to his campaign promises.

This includes his appointment of several pro-crypto officials into his cabinet, including Paul Atkins as SEC Chair and David Sacks as the first White House AI & Crypto Czar.

Given Trump’s support for crypto, investors are eager to see how the industry will evolve under his administration.

Japanese MicroStrategy, Metaplanet Raises $32M to Buy More Bitcoin

0

Metaplanet, a popular Japanese firm committed to accruing Bitcoin, has concluded its latest move to raise capital for more acquisitions.

In a release on December 20, Metaplanet announced it has leveraged a debt instrument to buy more Bitcoin. It disclosed raising 5 billion yen ($32 million) through a bond offering to expand its holdings of the flagship cryptocurrency.

Per the announcement, the latest offering is its 5th ordinary bond issuance. The Japanese firm noted that it offered the financial instrument to EVO FUNDS, who indicated interest following an announcement that it intends to raise another 5 billion yen in its just-concluded 4th ordinary bond issuance.

Metaplanet Raises Zero-Interest Loan for Bitcoin Purchase

Meanwhile, the Japanese MicroStrategy disclosed that the $32 million raised today carries no interest rate. This means it will not share retributions from its Bitcoin purchase or pay APYs to EVO FUNDS.

Furthermore, the loan repayment is due in six months, specifically June 2025. Metaplanet noted that EVO FUNDS will redeem the bond in full at 100 yen per 100 yen principal amount for each bond.

According to the disclosure, the value of each bond is 250 million yen. Hence, the firm will redeem at the rate on the due date or with a written request stating its intention for early recompense.

Metaplanet’s Bitcoin Play Yields Results

Since adopting Bitcoin as a strategic reserve in May, Metaplanet has incessantly stacked the digital asset. Notably, the firm has raised $61 million through bond sales just this week to buy more Bitcoin.

Meanwhile, the strategy fully mirrors MicroStrategy’s playbook. The largest publicly traded company holding Bitcoin has amassed 439,000 BTC ($42.3 billion), backed by its recent penetration into the financial market to raise capital to increase its stash.

Interestingly, Metaplanet’s adoption of Bitcoin seems to be steering the firm in the right direction. Data shows that the Japanese firm is nearing reporting its first operating profit in seven years, driven by its Bitcoin embrace.

In the meantime, Metaplanet holds 1,142.287 BTC ($110.5 million), ranking 15th among public companies holding Bitcoin.

XRP Bollinger Bands Tighten Again on 12H Chart, Hinting at Major 490% Rally to $13

0

XRP came under significant selling pressure that threatened a dip below the $2 level, but analyst Steph has cited a potential rebound that could propel its price nearly fivefold.

In a tweet on X, Steph highlighted that the Bollinger Bands for XRP on the 12-hour chart have started to tighten again. Historically, this technical setup has preceded significant price movements. The most recent example is the explosive 490% rally observed a few weeks ago.

The Technical Setup

The popular Bollinger Bands indicator measures market volatility and provides key support and resistance levels. A “squeeze” occurs when the bands contract, signaling reduced volatility and often foreshadowing a major price movement.

For XRP, the last time this indicator tightened on the 12-hour timeframe triggered a parabolic surge, elevating the token’s price from around $0.49 in the first week of November to $2.90 by the first week of December.

Will History Repeat?

Now, analyst Steph has noticed another Bollinger Bands squeeze on the 12-hour chart, speculating that another breakout may be imminent.

Currently, XRP’s price is hovering around $2.26, consolidating after its recent bullish rally. Yesterday, XRP revisited lows around $2.17, coming close to breaking below the $2 psychological mark.

Nevertheless, the observed tightening of the bands amid this price action suggests that market participants are anticipating the next major move.

If the breakout follows a similar 490% rally as seen a few weeks ago, market participants could see XRP’s price rise as high as $13.33.

However, while the prospect of history repeating itself is enticing, analysts like Steph are adopting a more conservative price outlook for XRP in the short term rather than targeting a lofty $13. Some believe that $13 could represent the peak for XRP in this cycle.

In the near term, market analysts are predicting a price rally to between $4 and $5 before another correction phase.

Key Levels to Watch

Amid the ongoing correction, analysts emphasize the importance of XRP maintaining support around the $2 level for a continued bull run.

Casi Trade suggests two potential scenarios: a correction with support near the trendline or further bearish movement below it. She noted that holding the $1.90–$2.00 range is crucial for XRP’s recovery.

Market commentators like Chad Steingraber and IncomeSharks also highlight the potential for a rebound, with Steingraber seeing a “double tap” at $2 as a potential launch point for new highs. So far, in the latest market downturn, XRP has held above $2.

On the other hand, some traders are watching critical resistance at $2.90, which could pave the way for further gains if breached.

Bitcoin Hits $92K Amid Sell-Off: Could a 30% Crash Be in the Cards?

0

Today, Bitcoin has plunged from $102,748 to $92,175, marking a 10.3% drop in the last 24 hours.

This development has sparked discussions in the community, with analysts drawing parallels to previous market cycles. Historical trends indicate that Bitcoin often undergoes significant pullbacks a few weeks into its price discovery phase. This has raised concerns that the current downturn may only be the beginning.

Historical Insights into Bitcoin Corrections

Crypto analyst Rekt Capital pointed out Bitcoin’s consistent pattern of corrections after rallying into price discovery phases. He cited that in 2013, Bitcoin experienced six weeks of upward momentum before facing its first major correction in the seventh week.

Similarly, during the 2017 bull cycle, a 34% retracement occurred in Week 8 after seven weeks of consistent gains. Likewise, in the 2020/2021 cycle, Bitcoin rallied for six weeks into price discovery before a meaningful 16% pullback.

Highlighting these patterns, Rekt Capital noted, “It’s Week 7 right now.” This implies that the ongoing correction is consistent with historical trends and that a major pullback could be in the works.

Is there a 20-30% Correction on the Horizon for BTC?

Adding to the discussion, popular crypto futures trader Satoshi Flipper emphasized the importance of studying historical patterns. He warned that a powerful correction during Bitcoin’s price discovery phase is realistic.

Notably, Bitcoin entered the price discovery phase in the second week of November after Donald Trump won the presidential election. Since then, the asset has seen consecutive days and weeks of new price peaks, with only a few instances of 3% corrections.

Meanwhile, Satoshi Flipper reminded market participants that a 20% to 30% crash for BTC is realistically on the table. Specifically, he highlighted that a 20% drop from Bitcoin’s recent high of $108,000 would result in a bottom at $87,000. Meanwhile, a 30% retracement could see Bitcoin falling as low as $76,000.

Already, Bitcoin has crashed by approximately 15% from its all-time high to $92K and has since rebounded to $95K at press time, though the danger still remains.

Can Bitcoin Defy Historical Trends?

A recent analysis by Glassnode shows that Bitcoin is now seeing lower average returns and reduced volatility in the current cycle compared to previous ones.

For instance, while Bitcoin saw 10.47X growth in the 2018-2022 cycle, the current season has only seen 598% growth. Likewise, this cycle has been the least volatile, with average drawdowns of -7.68% and a maximum of -26.25%. Previous cycles have had minimum drawdowns of 26% and maximum crashes of 72%.

According to the report, this stability indicates Bitcoin’s transformation into a more mature, institutionalized asset, making the likelihood of a crash similar to the last cycle less likely.

Market Expert Says XRP Fears Are All Noise, Provides Price Update Amid Downtrend

0

A market strategist insists that the skepticism from the recent XRP downtrend is all noise, as the asset is currently retesting a notable price mark.

XRP participated in the broader market capsize today as hawkish news from the Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell continues to drive caution among investors. The fourth-largest cryptocurrency is down by almost double digits in the past 24 hours, nearing sub-$2.

Amidst the growing skepticism, market expert Egrag Crypto has reassured the XRP community. In a Friday tweet, the seasoned analyst insisted that XRP remains on course from a technical standpoint, describing the saga as “simply noise.”

XRP Market Update

Per the commentary, XRP is simply retesting the December 10 low. For context, on that date, the digital asset dropped below $2 for the first time in ten days but rebounded strongly to close at $2.3709. The analyst stressed that even a drop below $1.9 is not a cause for concern.

Meanwhile, Egrag suggested that the retest could spark bullish momentum for XRP if the price recovers from the region. He stated that XRP could form a bullish double bottom on the higher timeframes, sparking a bounce to new highs.

Furthermore, Egrag asserted that XRP may be entering a macro range, where the price would fluctuate between $2.00 and $2.90. The analyst noted that the XRPL native token followed a similar course before now, previously ranging between $0.5 and $1.00 for months before the recent breakout.

Analyst Says XRP is the Better Altcoin to Play

Additionally, analyst DonAlt has speculated that XRP is the better altcoin to play in the current market. However, he noted this would be the case if Bitcoin’s surge to $107,000 was not its cycle top.

XRP

While admitting that the recent dump made all altcoins cheap, he noted that an XRP buy would be the best move at this point. Notably, he did not place an XRP price target, but other seasoned speculators have asserted further upsides to $4.6 and an ambitious $35.

Meanwhile, XRP trades at $2.1780, recovering sharply from a drop to $1.9601. However, the asset is down 8.34% in the past day and 10.62% over the last seven days.

Why a Bitcoin Drop to Around $70K is Possible According to Peter Brandt

0

A recent commentary from market veteran Peter Brandt suggests a further Bitcoin downtrend could be possible.

The past two days have been rough for crypto investors. Spurred by hawkishness from the Federal Reserve, the market has turned into a sea of red.

While some have suggested that the bleeding will likely stop soon, veteran commodities trader Peter Brandt has unveiled a scenario where this hemorrhage could just be starting.

Look out Below

Over the past two days, Bitcoin‘s price has dropped nearly 15% from record highs around $108,000 to lows near $92,000 amid slower quantitative easing expectations.

While market participants are hoping for a near bounce, veteran trader Peter Brandt has outlined one scenario where Bitcoin’s price could continue to fall to near the $70,000 price point.

The price action trader shared this analysis on Friday, December 20, citing an expanding triangle pattern on the asset’s daily candle chart.

The expanding triangle chart pattern often signals market uncertainty. Depending on where the price breaks out, it can signal the continuation of a trend or a reversal. It is usually characterized by higher and lower highs as buyers and sellers tussle for control.

Per Peter Brandt’s chart, Bitcoin entered this pattern towards the end of November 2024 as it rallied to the $99,000 price point. Price support is currently around the $90,000 price level. Brandt asserts that the asset’s price could tumble to around $76,000 if this support fails.

Still, in a separate post, Brandt suggested Bitcoin could launch a reversal to the upside from the support by the end of the day.

This view received support from fellow trader “HTL-NL.” The trader contended that the $90,000 price level could offer a good long entry, citing the 12-hour stochastic.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading near the $95,000 price point after bouncing from 24-hour lows around the $92,200 price point.

Jim Cramer Says Buy The Fear As Bitcoin Slump to $94,000 and Stock Market Collapse

0

Jim Cramer advises investors to buy into the fear amid a broader market pullback that has impacted the stock market and Bitcoin.

Notably, Bitcoin’s price has recently declined to $94,000, reflecting a broader market downturn following the Federal Reserve’s latest policy decisions. The Fed reduced interest rates by 0.25%, bringing them to a range of 4.25% to 4.5%.

Stock and Crypto Markets Down

However, Chairman Jerome Powell hinted at a slower pace of easing in 2025, indicating plans for fewer rate cuts than previously anticipated. This hawkish stance has unsettled both stock and cryptocurrency markets.

Major indices like the S&P 500 and Nasdaq experienced significant declines, with the S&P 500 dropping nearly 3% in the past five days. Within the same timeframe, the Dow Jone has slumped by 3.43%, while the Nasdaq Composite has dropped by a more substantial 4.12%.

Notably, crypto mirrored this trend, as Bitcoin led the charge, collapsing below the $100,000 mark. The crypto market has so far seen over $1.3 billion in liquidations over the last 24 hours.

Jim Cramer’s Advice

Amid this volatility, financial commentator and CNBC’s Mad Money host Jim Cramer advises investors to consider buying into the fear. He suggests that market downturns, often driven by fear and uncertainty, can present buying opportunities for those willing to take a contrarian stance.

Jim Cramer on X
Jim Cramer on X

It’s worth noting that Cramer’s recommendations often come under humorous scrutiny by the crypto community for their interesting impact. Notably, many in the community suggest that the market often moves in the opposite direction to what the Mad Money host predicts.

However, in the current scenario, Cramer’s advice to “buy the fear” appears to resonate with broader market sentiment. Mentions of “buy the dip” have surged to an eight-month high in the crypto community, indicating a collective inclination toward purchasing BTC during the downturn.

Supporting this accumulation trend, notable figures in the crypto space have made significant purchases. Justin Sun, founder of TRON, announced that he has acquired additional assets.

Similarly, El Salvador has expanded its Strategic Bitcoin Reserve by purchasing 11 Bitcoin worth over $1 million, shortly after the International Monetary Fund agreed to a $3.3 billion loan.

Bitcoin Pullback Could Continue

Meanwhile, market analysts expect the downtrend to continue in the short-term but remain bullish in the long-term. Rekt Capital observed that in previous cycles, Bitcoin experienced major corrections after six to seven weeks of price discovery. In the current cycle, it’s the seventh week, suggesting a potential correction phase.

Also, as BTC dropped to $96,500, Ali Martinez noted that if the asset falls below $96,000, the next support levels could be $90,000 and $85,000. With Bitcoin currently now below $95,000, this analysis indicates possible further declines.

Another analyst, Wick, noted that Bitcoin is in a downtrend on the 4-hour chart. Drawing parallels to the 2017 bull market, he recalls multiple corrections ranging from 30% to 40%, each causing concern among investors.

In the current market, a 15% retracement has occurred, suggesting that more corrections could be part of the natural market cycle. Despite these short-term bearish calls, the general consensus is that the bull run is far from over. Currently, Bitcoin is down 7% in the last 24 hours, trading for $94,730.
