Terra Classic (LUNC) And UST Classic (USTC) Lead Binance Top Gainers List

0

Terra tokens rallied in the last 24 hours and led Binance’s top gainer ranking.

Terra investors are having a field day as the ecosystem tokens Terra Luna Classic (LUNC), UST Classic (USTC), and LUNA have been on a massive rally for the past 24 hours.

At press time, all three Terra tokens are currently leading Binance’s “Top Gainer” rankings, with LUNC leading the race. According to data from the Binance trading platform, over the last 24 hours, LUNC is up 63.49%, LUNA is second in the ranking, up 32.69%, while USTC is third with a 30.15% surge.

What’s Fueling Terra Tokens Surge?

The Terra cryptocurrencies are leading the Binance Top Gainers rankings, while other altcoins are still struggling from yesterday’s dip.

Seeing these three Terra tokens on the world’s largest exchange’s top gainer list is not surprising. As reported by The Crypto Basic yesterday, Binance said going forward, it would burn LUNC fees on spot and margin trading pairs as part of an effort to reduce the token’s circulating supply, which will ultimately boost the asset’s price. While the announcement was specifically for Luna Classic, other Terra tokens also recorded a meteoric rise.

It is noteworthy that since the collapse of the Terra ecosystem, it is not often that the Terra community receives positive news. Several negative reports have trailed the Terra project in the past few weeks, leading to a plunge in the tokens’ prices.

Two weeks ago, all Terra tokens plunged over 30% after South Korean authorities issued an arrest warrant for Do Kwon, the founder of TerraForm Labs, the company behind the development of LUNC, USTC, and LUNA.

The community was anticipating positive news to enable the token rally again, and they got their wish after Binance said it would burn LUNC fees on spot and margin trading pairs.

According to Santiment, something is better than nothing for Terra investors these days, and the community will always react to any positive development.

Based on this, Santiment expects week-long volatility for Terra ecosystem tokens.

Famous Crypto YouTuber Says Terra Classic (LUNC) Founder Do Kwon Isn’t “A Bad Guy”

0

Terra founder is not as bad a bad guy, but should face punishment for the accident he made, says BitBoy.

Despite the negative conception the cryptocurrency community has of Do Kwon, the CEO and founder of TerraForm Labs (TFL), Ben Armstrong, the famous YouTuber, who goes by the brand name BitBoy Crypto, does not think bad of him.

In a recent tweet, BitBoy Crypto said the TFL founder, whose company founded Luna Classic (LUNC) and UST Classic (USTC), is not as bad as Alex Mashinsky, founder of Celsius Network, whose project recently filed for bankruptcy.

He added that Kwon was unfortunate to build a cryptocurrency project with a tokenomics vulnerability, which malefactors would always exploit.

“I don’t think Do Kwon is a bad guy like Alex Mashinsky. I think he built a project with a tokenomics vulnerability that was always going to be exploited,” Armstrong said.

However, Armstrong did not rule out the fact that Kwon should be held responsible for investors’ losses, as he implied that the Terra founder caused the incident.

“But just like when someone causes a car accident that results in a death… he must be held accountable for it on some level,” Armstrong added.

Terra Victims’ Unfriendly Nature Toward Kwon

Since the collapse of the Terra ecosystem, the project’s founder, Do Kwon, has been lambasted across various social media platforms for the unfortunate incident. It can be recalled that Terra’s previous flagship algorithmic stablecoin UST (now referred to as USTC) lost its peg to the dollar, leading to the massive collapse of other ecosystem tokens like LUNA (now referred to as LUNC).

Victims of Terra ecosystem token collapse have moved from sending death threats to hurling insults at Kwon in recent months for being responsible for their losses.

Global Authorities Pile Kwon’s Woes

It is noteworthy that Kwon’s troubles have continued to soar in recent weeks after South Korean prosecutors issued an arrest warrant for violating the country’s capital markets laws. Since the development, Kwon’s whereabouts remain unknown, with many suggesting he is currently on the run.

As reported by TheCryptoBasic yesterday, the international policing organization, Interpol, issued a red notice for the Terra founder, ordering law enforcement agents across the globe to arrest Kwon.

A Lifeline For Terra Classic As Binance Alone Can Burn Above 1 Trillion LUNC Per Year

0

Binance throws the Terra Classic community a lifeline.

Here’s How Much Terra Classic (LUNC) Can Be Burned In A Year From Binance’s Implementation of Burns On Trading Fees.

Yesterday, leading crypto exchange Binance in a show of support for the Terra Classic (LUNC) community at a high cost to the exchange, disclosed that it would be burning all trading fees obtained from LUNC spot and margin trading activities in addition to the 1.2% tax on deposits and withdrawals.

So the question a lot of LUNC enthusiasts are wondering is how much can this burn from a 0.1% fee affect the LUNC supply in a year. As highlighted by Terra Rebel RexYellerBelly, about 1 trillion LUNC can be burnt yearly Binance alone, using this model and current daily trading volume information. Notably, at an average daily volume of $1 billion, Binance will burn about 1.2 trillion LUNC.

However, as pointed out by users in the comments, members of Binance’s VIP program, who are offered concessions because of the large volume they control, will only pay about 0.06% in fees. Factoring this into the calculation offers a range of 730 billion LUNC to 1.2 trillion LUNC burnt yearly at an average daily trading volume of $1 billion.

The total LUNC daily trading volume on Binance is $1.3 billion at press time.

Moreover, it bears mentioning that Binance’s model offers a reduced risk of reducing trader volumes, as it comes with no increased cost to traders, which would have been the case with a 1.2% tax implementation. Similarly, a tax will not discourage traders should the token’s price go up.

These are significant as Binance’s implementation gives the community a chance to hit its 10 billion supply target in about 6 years.

Notably, since Binance announced its LUNC trading fees burn initiative, the price of LUNC has surged significantly. LUNC is trading at the $0.0003059 price point, up by 65.59% in 24 hours. The Crypto Basic reported yesterday that Santiment expects this volatility to continue for a week.

Santiment Predicts Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) Will Experience “A Week Long Volatility”

0

The analytics platform believes LUNC’s volatility will last for a whole week.

Santiment, a leading cryptocurrency data platform that tracks the activities of the top 2,000 cryptocurrencies, stated that Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) will experience massive volatility for a whole week.

This comes after Binance announced the implementation of a burn mechanism on LUNC spot and margin trading fees. As reported by TheCryptoBasic, the world’s largest exchange by 24 hours trading volume will send all LUNC spot and margin trading fees to the official LUNC burn address, as part of efforts to reduce the token’s circulating supply.

Following the announcement, the price of LUNC reacted positively to the news, skyrocketing more than 30% in 24 hours. Over the past 24 hours, LUNC plunged to a low of $0.00018. However, the Binance announcement fueled the price of the token to rally to a high of $0.00031.

Since then, LUNC’s price has had slight fluctuation and the cryptocurrency is currently changing hands at around $0.00030, up 32% in the past 24 hours.

Santiment’s LUNC Prediction

Commenting on the development, Santiment said: “#TerraClassic finally received some positive news when #Binance announced it would be implementing a burn mechanism on trading fees.”

For Terra Classic investors, something is better than nothing these days, the cryptocurrency’s on-chain metrics platform noted.

“We expect that volatility will continue all week long,” Santiment stated.

LUNC Investors’ Burn Initiative

Meanwhile, the Terra Classic community has been making efforts to revive LUNC and USTC from the ashes, after the tokens suffered a massive collapse that resulted in a $60 billion wipeout.

The community had created a burn address where people could voluntarily send some units of LUNC to reduce the token’s circulating supply.

Despite incinerating billions of LUNC tokens, the community implemented a 1.2% tax burn for all on-chain transactions involving the cryptocurrency to boost the LUNC burn rate.

So far, several exchanges have implemented the burn proposal, which has also contributed positively to the token’s price.

Gemini Launches Ethereum Staking

Crypto exchange Gemini plans to introduce ETH staking services on its platform this week.

Users Who Get In Before October To Enjoy Feeless Staking.

Ethereum’s transition from the PoW (Proof-of-Work) to PoS (Proof-of-Stake) system has been the talk in crypto circles for months. Now that it has finally happened, things seem to be looking up for the second largest coin in the market. Besides becoming more appealing to the many environmentally-conscious investors after ditching the energy-intensive PoW system, Ethereum is meant to undergo a few more upgrades in the future.

Now, one of the popular crypto exchanges is planning to launch Ethereum staking on its platform. Gemini crypto exchange announced its plans in a tweet and a blog post on its official website. According to the posts, ETH staking on Gemini will commence on September 20th, 2022.

Zero-Fee Staking For Early Stakers

Besides giving its users the chance to stake Ethereum, the Gemini exchange is also throwing in some freebies. Users who start ETH staking on the exchange between September 29th (the day of launch) and the end of October will enjoy zero-fee staking. This means that they get 15% more rewards on their staking.

Which Users Are Eligible For ETH Staking On Gemini?

While Gemini has announced these plans, Ethereum staking on the platform during the initial period will only be available to users in select regions. These include the US (except New York), Hong Kong, Australia, Brazil, Singapore, and 30 other areas. The full list of the regions covered can be accessed here.

Ethereum is not the first crypto to be availed for staking on Gemini. Back in August, MATIC was added, and the process was quick. The same is expected to happen to ETH as the exchange expands its product base.

Basically, Ethereum staking on Gemini means more users and more demand for the coin. This could potentially translate into more adoption. At the moment, ETH is valued at around $1,324, with a 24-hour increase of 1.3%. Meanwhile, 150,000 Ethereum were Deposited In ETH Contract Following Merge.

VeChain To Integrate Blockchain Into Apparel, Food and Pharmaceuticals Industries With This Partnership

VeChain and TruFace Partnership To Integrate Industries Such as Food and Apparel Into Blockchain.

VeChain and TruFace have revealed the industries they would incorporate into the blockchain, with food, apparel, and pharmaceutical industries making the cut.

The emergence of cryptocurrencies has brought blockchain technology to the limelight, as digital assets expose the many benefits of the nascent blockchain industry. Besides decentralized finance, blockchain can be employed in several sectors to facilitate transparency and efficiency. VeChain and TruFace seek to prove this.

Both firms previously formed a partnership to boost blockchain adoption. The recent announcement reveals several industries the partnership will help introduce to the blockchain.

The development was revealed Monday by a community-driven Twitter handle dedicated to VeChain. This move will boost TruFace’s utilization of blockchain for the industries it covers as it looks to leverage the VeChainThor network.

Per the announcement, the entities would bring the legal cannabis, clothing, pharmaceutical, and food industries to the blockchain. The average individual has daily dealings with the food, pharmaceuticals, and clothing industries. This move will likely uncover the many use cases of blockchain in these sectors.

“TruTrace and Vechain announce the integration of their complementary technologies on the blockchain platform for the legal cannabis, food, apparel, and pharmaceutical industries,” the handle noted in a tweet.

These sectors are the industries TruFace already specializes in. The statement shows that the partnership with VeChain will prompt blockchain integration in all the SaaS platform covers, as the legal cannabis industry was previously the primary focus.

Besides finance, blockchain is utilized in several industries, such as music, diamond mining, and real estate. The use of blockchain in these sectors assists in boosting transparency, being the central selling point of the technology.

As previously reported by The Crypto Basic, VeChain partnered with Canadian Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform TruFace Technologies last month. According to the VeChain announcement, the partnership will help introduce clients to VeChain’s Toolchain. Besides its association with TruFace, VeChain recently partnered with UCO Network to assist in boosting European biofuel production.

Binance CZ Wins Terra Classic (LUNC) Community Heart While FatMan Gets Slammed

0

After Binance Announces LUNC Trading Fee Burns, CZ Wins Terra Investors’ Hearts While FatMan Gets Slammed.

LUNC investors express gratitude to CZ but not FatMan.

Changpeng Zhao “CZ,” the CEO and founder of Binance, has won the hearts of the Terra classic community following the exchange’s announcement that it would burn trading fees on LUNC spot and margin trading pairs.

LUNC Investors Initially Slammed Binance and CZ

Recall that the world’s largest exchange by 24-hour trading volume was criticized earlier this month for not accepting to fully support the 1.2% tax burns. Some members of the Terra community took to Twitter to air their grievances at the time.

“Extremely disappointed in CZ for not keeping his word. Applying the 1.2% tax to withdrawals and deposits only discourages people from leaving Binance. They are not applying the LUNC burn to the spot + margin trading AKA what the community asked for,” an unofficial Terra account, LUNC DAO tweeted.

Binance quickly dismissed critics, saying the 1.2% tax burn was introduced to all LUNC on-chain transactions (deposits and withdrawals), as recommended in the community proposal. However, Binance assured aggrieved LUNC investors that it would review its decision soon.

Terra Classic Investors Make U-turn

Interestingly, Binance has implemented the Terra Classic burn mechanism on all Terra classic trading fees.

Following Binance’s decision, a Twitter user drew the attention of CZ to the criticisms the exchange received for not implementing the tax burn across all LUNC services on the platform.

“I hope those who made bad comments about you are ashamed now. we always believed in you, we trusted you, we love you cz,” the Twitter user said.

Responding to the comment, CZ said:

“Have a feeling there won’t be many apologies, lol…”

Since Binance’s founder announced the LUNC burns, several LUNC investors have expressed gratitude and apology to CZ and the exchange.

Terra Rebels says CZ is a true leader:

LUNC Holders Slam FatMan

Meanwhile, famous Terra pseudonymous whistleblower FatMan has continued to “get on the nerves” of LUNC investors. Recall that FatMan had accused LUNC holders of bullying exchanges into implementing the 1.2% tax burn on its platform.

With Binance implementing a burn mechanism on all LUNC spot and margin trading fees, FatMan, once again, took a swipe at LUNC enthusiasts, saying:

FatMan’s tweet has angered Terra classic investors, who have continued to put him on blast for hours.

@Emrezer75354268 writes: “What is your problem? What is your proposal to solve the supply problem? If you don’t have, don’t be part of problem.”

@khawajaAbubaka1 ask fatman: “Bruh U ever Happy?”

@Ola47825038 says fatman: “Angry bird.”

New Binance Terra Classic (LUNC) Tax Burn Approach May Result in Burns More Than 1.2% Proposed Rate

0

Binance is taking a different Terra Classic (LUNC) off-chain burn approach, but data indicates the exchange might burn over 1.2% on transactions.

The Terra community has been rather vocal about wanting to see the Terra Classic 1.2% tax burn implemented off-chain. The persistence of proponents has influenced a change in the decision of the world’s largest exchange Binance on the matter.

Binance finally settled for a compromise that would satiate everyone by assuming responsibility for the LUNC tokens to be burnt, as recently reported by The Crypto Basic. The exchange decided to convert trading fees from LUNC/USDT and LUNC/BUSD spot and margin trades to LUNC, sending the resulting LUNC to a burn address.

Speaking on the recent decision from Binance, renowned Terra informant FatMan took to Twitter to reveal some interesting metrics. According to FatMan, if Binance executes the tax burn in this manner by burning 5BPS, the approach could ultimately result in an off-chain burn towering over the 1.2% proposed rate.

FatMan’s estimates arise from a rough assessment the pseudonymous crypto proponent made, considering the resulting volume drop from on-chain burns that would amount to a 90% rate. Additionally, he considered automatic compound taxes prompted by wash trading sessions.

Since a burn rate above 1.2% would help even further by allegedly reducing the circulating supply of LUNC at a greater rate than proposed, if FatMan’s estimates are accurate, Binance would be taking responsibility for the losses incurred.

According to Fatman:

“… I ran some rough numbers (factoring in the 90% post-tax on-chain volume drop & compounding taxation due to wash trading). Assuming Binance burns 5BPS, this new plan will burn far more than the 1.2% off-chain tax, all with Binance footing the bill. Amazing.”

The accuracy of this assessment remains to be seen, but Binance might not be concerned regardless. Before the recent decision, Binance introduced the “opt-in feature” suggestion as a means to bring democracy to the scene, which most of the Terra community did not receive well.

Binance’s current decision to take responsibility for the LUNC tokens to be burnt underlines its commitment to the satisfaction of customers. The latest move from Binance has seen positive reception so far, but a self-acclaimed retired crypto trader noted that it might not be as efficient as many belief. According to him, VIP market makers are responsible for the highest volumes on Binance.

These investors do not pay any fees for their transactions. As a consequence, Binance would not see a lot of fees from LUNC trades to burn.

“amount of burn from retail spot fees won’t put a dent in the 2 billion dollar market cap, even over one year/5 year,” he noted.

Addresses Holding 100 to 10K Bitcoin Falls To Lowest Point Since April 2020, But BTC Interest On Social Media Rise

0

Bitcoin Whale Holdings Drop But Social Interest Increase.

Recent data released by Santiment indicates that while Bitcoin whales are reducing their stash, interest on social platforms for the coin is increasing.

The Bitcoin market seems to have entered a new phase. That’s according to the recent opinions made by Santiment, a popular market intelligence firm that researches social and on-chain metrics in the crypto space. During its research, Santiment noticed two conflicting trends that may hold the key to understanding the future dynamics of the Bitcoin market.

An 11-Month Low

Apparently, Bitcoin whales are cutting back on their holdings as fears spread concerning the prevailing inflation and global economic recession. There are now much fewer addresses holding between 100 and 10k BTC coins as compared to 29 months ago. In a Twitter post, Santiment intimated that this development indicates that this dynamic has been playing out for 11 months now.

In essence, the addresses in question currently hold around 45.7% of all BTC in circulation. This is the lowest it has been since April 4th, 2020.

A Spike In Bitcoin Interest In Social Platforms

Interestingly, more users on social platforms seem to be interested in discussing BTC now. That’s a stark contrast to whales’ current perception, leading to a decrease in their holdings. According to a tweet by Santiment, Bitcoin has been attracting more attention on social platforms over the weekend, and this trend may continue in the coming days.

Apparently, more than 26% of crypto-related discussions on social platforms have been centered on Bitcoin. This hasn’t happened since mid-July. The analytics firm says that BTC-related discussions covering over 20% are great for the top coin.

As mentioned, more attention to BTC on social media means a growing willingness to invest and positive sentiments towards the coin. This is despite the current market hardships. At the time of this writing, BTC is trading at around $19,120, marking a 2.5% increase over the last seven days. Some analysts have expressed opinions that Bitcoin may have reached its bottom price. On the bright side, the growing attention could mean an oncoming price rally for Bitcoin, but as always, time will tell.
