Cardano Launches An Explainer Textbook For Newcomers

Cardano is stepping up its adoption campaign with a new book aimed at helping those new to the network.

It seems that Cardano’s drive isn’t running out any time soon. Just after news of the Vassil upgrade that should totally overhaul the network, Cardano is now launching a handbook for the newcomers. Its launch and access directives were released in a Twitter post by Cardano’s IOHK department.

The book, written by John Greene, is titled: “Cardano For the M₳sses: A Financial Operating System for people who don’t have one.”

In other words, this book is designed to introduce newcomers to the Cardano network’s inner workings without the technical complexities. It’s basically written for the clueless beginner who needs a quick catch-up to join and understand the Cardano community.

Interesting Facts About The Cardano

The Cardano may sound a bit off to some, but it stems from a place of serious mathematical focus. The system is named after Cardano (full name: Gerolamo Cardano), a renowned mathematician. Gerolamo is credited for having been one of the greatest advancers of complex algebra and other mathematical advances that are now used in solving various computing issues.

ADA is the native cryptocurrency used in the Cardano network. Both the crypto and the blockchain network employ mathematical computations to solve issues of Scalability, Interoperability, and Sustainability of a blockchain system. As a matter of fact, Cardano developers have been hailed as some of the best teams in the industry.

Who Needs This Book?

The book is available on Amazon Kindle and is described as a book that doesn’t quite throw the newcomer into the deep end about Cardano. No need for too many technical aspects that may confuse the newbie. Instead, the book focuses on facilitating a gentle introduction of the reader to Cardano by angling on a broad overview of the system and the community with simple explainers and quotes from the creator, Charles Hoskinson.

Cardano (ADA) Founder Calls Rival Cryptocurrency Project Algorand “Excellent”

0

Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano (ADA), has taken to Twitter to heap praise on rival cryptocurrency project Algorand.

According to Hoskinson, Algorand is an excellent project with lots of exceptional people.

Hoskinson’s comment comes following an announcement made by John Woods, former Director of Cardano Architecture at Input Output Global (IOG), that he would be joining the Algorand Foundation as Chief Technical Officer (CTO).

“I’m thrilled to be taking the next step in my career and joining Algorand Foundation as CTO. I’ve had a wonderful time contributing to building Cardano at IOHK. We are all building the future of finance,” Woods said in a statement on Twitter.

Hoskinson Praises Woods for His Contributions at Cardano

Commenting on the development, Hoskinson said he had fun working with Woods as IOG CTO while Duncan Coutts was on paternity leave.

He added that he is excited to see Woods onboarded as Algorand’s CTO and that the development may result in future collaborations between the IOG and Algorand Foundation.

“Working with John while he was standing in for Duncan during his paternity leave was fun. I’m delighted to see John step up as a CTO, and it opens up many great opportunities for future collaboration and research. Algorand is an excellent project with exceptional people,” Hoskinson said.

Woods’ Role at Algorand

It is noteworthy that before Woods was appointed CTO of Algorand Foundation, he was the director of Cardano Architecture at IOG, the firm responsible for Cardano’s research and development.

Woods’ appointment as Algorand’s CTO will see him be in charge of technical partnerships, infrastructure development, education, developer tooling, and engagement.

“[Woods] will focus in particular on removing friction from the developer UX, clarifying and improving the developer education journey, and adding tools and resources for building applications on Algorand,” Algorand said in a statement yesterday.

Per the announcement, Woods will report to Algorand CEO, Staci Warden, who joined the company in January.

“With John in this critical leadership position, we are confident we can deliver for our community. His technical expertise and track record of building great teams is widely recognized in the crypto ecosystem, and we are thrilled to have him on board,” Warden said.

Ripple CEO Says WSJ Article Should Prompt U.S. Congress to Stop SEC Chairman’s Methods of Crypto Regulation

Garlinghouse has slammed the SEC chairman’s method of regulating the crypto industry.

Brad Garlinghouse, Ripple’s CEO, has commented on an opinion piece written by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), which slammed SEC Chairman Gary Gensler’s cryptocurrency approach as counter-productive.

Ripple’s CEO shared an excerpt of the article: “Mr. Gensler’s blockade is counter-productive if he aims to protect investors.”

According to Garlinghouse, the WSJ article is enough to prompt congressional action that would stop Mr. Gensler from continuing his “regulation by enforcement” approach in the nascent industry.

However, Garlinghouse noted that if the U.S. Congress is not triggered by the WSJ opinion piece and moves to stop Mr. Gensler, then he is not sure what would motivate them to swing into action.

“If that doesn’t call for Congressional action to stop Chair Gensler’s preferred method of regulation by enforcement, I’m not sure what does,” Garlinghouse tweeted.

SEC Ignores Continuous Calls for Clear Crypto Regulations

The Ripple CEO’s comment echoes continuous outbursts from the crypto community about the methods the SEC uses to regulate the cryptocurrency industry.

For years, the SEC has been urged to provide more transparent crypto regulations to guide the activities of the nascent industry. The SEC has maintained that its regulations on digital assets are clear, without giving any further guidelines.

However, when crypto-related firms try to figure out these rules and offer products based on their interpretations of the SEC’s rules, the agency swings into action and charge them for violating its policies.

Ripple-SEC Lawsuit

An example is the ongoing legal battle between Ripple and the SEC. Recall that in late 2020, the SEC charged Ripple and two of its executives, including Garlinghouse, for conducting an unregistered securities offering that saw it raise $1.3 billion in a 2013 Initial Coin Offering (ICO).

Ripple noted that it hired the services of professionals to help ensure that its crypto sales do not violate U.S. securities laws.

However, the SEC chose to slam a lawsuit against Ripple seven years later, despite efforts made by the company to ensure it does not get into the bad books of the agency.

The lawsuit has lingered for more than a year. The case is expected to be concluded on or before March 31, 2023.

Bitcoin Gains 8% But 200 Week Moving Average Is The New Hurdle For BTC In Gaining Momentum

Bitcoin is surging, and now attention is drawn to the 200 Week Moving Average.

Bitcoin, the top cryptocurrency, is currently in good standing, and people are watching the apparent trend. The 200-week Moving Average is now the main focus. Various analysts have come out to offer their opinions via Twitter.

The 30k To $20 Crash Was Mainly Artificial.

According to Michael van de Poppe, Bitcoin’s hard crash from $30k to $20k that took the entire market down wasn’t really due to normal market forces but was caused by the market-wide panic after the fall of Terra LUNA. The shock even took Bitcoin below its 200-week Moving Average. From a critical point of view, many would agree with this assessment, especially as the entire crypto market felt the heat.

There’s Potential Above The 200-Week MA.

Michael opines that if BTC breaks above the 200-week MA, a massive amount of liquidity could push the price by $3k to $5k. That would see the price hit the ranges of $28k to $30k. At this stage, the general sentiment would change from bearish to bullish and more money would flow in.

Other experts weighing in on the Moving Average focus include Bitcoin Expert India (BEI), who suggest that the price is currently testing the $22,500 where the 200 weekly MA stands.

However, Lark Davis, a crypto investor, suggests that the testing for the $22.5k is getting rejected by EMA 4 Hour. This doesn’t mean things will stay that way for long, considering that the coin just hit the $22k mark. At this time, Bitcoin is trading at $22,029 and posting an 8% surge daily.

BTC Dominance Back On The Talk

Meanwhile, there’s growing attention to BTC’s dominance. Santiment took to Twitter to say something about it. Santiment is an on-chain and social metrics analytics company.

Bitcoin Exchange Inflows Continue To Decline

The BTC exchange reserves are following the 4-year downtrend which is a very positive sign for the world’s top crypto. According to Santiment “Bitcoin dominance is back on the menu on a healthy Thursday price surge. We’ve seen BTC continue to move from exchanges for nearly 4 years, and this trend hasn’t stopped even with the 8-month price retrace.”

Court Grants SEC’s Request to File a 120-Page Omnibus Motion Against 10 Ripple Experts

Court Grants SEC’s Request to File a 120-Page Omnibus Motion.

In other developments, District Judge Analisa Torres has granted the SEC’s request to file a 120-page omnibus motion to limit or exclude the testimonies of 10 Ripple’s experts.

Recall that the SEC requested that it file a 120-page omnibus motion to exclude or limit the testimonies of 10 Ripple experts. The SEC opted to file an omnibus motion instead of utilizing the 15-page limit per expert as previously ordered by the court.

The 10 experts the SEC plans to limit or exclude their testimonies have made various reports regarding the lawsuit.

Meanwhile, the blockchain company and Individual Defendants, Brad Garlinghouse and Chris Larsen did not object to the SEC’s request.

However, Ripple and its two executives demanded that they should also be allowed the same page limit when filing an opposition to the SEC’s motion.

Following these reasons, Judge Torres granted the SEC’s request to file a 120-page motion to limit or exclude 10 of Ripple’s experts’ reports.

Court Finally Grants Ripple to Add Two Attorneys to Its Legal Team in SEC Lawsuit

0

Ripple has been granted permission to add two new attorneys to its legal team.

Ripple’s motion to add two attorneys to its legal team in the ongoing lawsuit against the Securities and Exchange Commission has finally been granted. Attorney John K. Filan disclosed the development in a statement yesterday.

Shortly after two attorneys from Kellogg Hansen – Kylie Kim and Clayton Masterman –  were denied admission into Ripple’s legal team, the blockchain company moved immediately to file an amended motion for admission to Pro Hac Vice.

Defendants also notarized affidavits of the attorneys in compliance with local rules.

“Amended Motions for Admission Pro Hac Vice have been filed. Affidavits notarized,” attorney Filan noted in a recent statement.

The moves made by Ripple prompted the court to grant the motions that would see both attorneys added to the blockchain company’s legal team in the ongoing lawsuit.

“Both Motions to Appear Pro Hac Vice have been granted,” attorney Filan tweeted yesterday.

Pro Hac Vice Rule

Pro Hac Vice is a legal term used to add attorneys to a case within jurisdictions where the lawyer was not originally admitted to practice. However, attorneys for Pro Hac Vice are added in such a way that he or she will not commit unauthorized practice of law in the new jurisdiction.

Lawyers who practice Pro Hac Vice usually do so via the council of local attorneys.

The Move Could Prolong the Lawsuit

Although the development is considered strategic to increase Ripple’s chances of winning the lawsuit, the onboarding of the two lawyers to the company’s legal team may prolong the proceeding of the case beyond expectations.

Following an analysis provided by attorney Filan in May as reported by TheCryptoBasic, the lawsuit is expected to end on or before March 31, 2023.

Cardano (ADA) Founder Wishes BTC Core Developer Pieter Wuillie Well, As He Leaves Bitcoin

Pieter Wuillie minimizes his role as a Bitcoin contributor.

On Thursday, core Bitcoin developer Peter Wuillie requested that his key be removed from the trusted keys on the Bitcoin Github, indicating his desire to step down as Bitcoin core maintainer.

“To be clear: I won’t stop contributing to code, review, and all the projects I’m involved in. It just so happens I’m not doing much maintenance anymore, so it’s time to drop my permissions,” Wuillie tweeted, clarifying his stance and the reason for his decision.

It is worth noting that as the core maintainer of the Bitcoin code, Wuillie has had several significant contributions. Wuillie’s contributions include; Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) 32, which ushered in the use of seed phrases for easier private keys recovery, Segregated Witness (SegWit) for better block data storage, and Taproot (BIPs 340, 341, and 342), which have provided the bedrock for scalability innovations on the celebrated blockchain.

Notably, Bitcoin’s code is open source and, as such, allows for open source developers to study it, make recommendations, and test it. However, access to the core, the most used software to link to the Bitcoin network, is restricted to a select few called core developers who can make changes to the code.

Wuillie joins the likes of John Newbery, Samuel Dobson, and Jonas Schnelli, who have also left their roles in recent years. At the time of writing, only Wladimir J. van der Laan, Marco Falke, Michael Ford, and Hennadii Stepanov remain core developers with access to the Bitcoin Core.

So far, Wuillie’s exit as a core maintainer has been met with much appreciation from the crypto community for his contributions. “Cheers Pieter. Thanks for all the fish,” tweeted Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson quoting the 4th book of the “Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.”

Veteran Trader Peter Brandt Accuses Binance Of Filling Customer Orders Wrongly And Covering It Up

Peter Brandt calls out Binance.

In a series of tweets on Friday, Peter Brandt accused leading crypto exchange Binance of executing customer trades at the wrong prices after CZ said “blockchain is a permanent public record”.

Peter in response to CZ’s tweet said:

“Really???? Is that really true???

Does that include the horrendous sell stop fills at $40,000 below the price of other exchanges that binance dealt to customers, only to NOT report those prices in your daily data record???”

The renowned analyst tweeted in response to a statement by Binance’s Changpeng Zhao asserting the immutable nature of the blockchain.

While it appeared to other crypto community members that Brandt had mixed up the meaning of blockchain with exchanges, Brandt maintains that the relevance of his point remains. Consequently, Brandt added, “I understand the difference between the blockchain and exchanges. My point was the horrendous abuse binance imposes upon its customers by matching bad fills against its own book.”

It is worth noting that at the time of writing, there has been no response from Binance or CZ on the matter.

Besides his reputation as a savvy technical analyst, Peter Brandt has also built up a reputation as an ardent critic of crypto exchanges and the crypto space. In the past, the market analyst has often warned crypto faithful against holding their assets on Coinbase as he believes that the exchange fails to abide by best practices and that holders could lose their assets.

Brandt has also often warned crypto investors about investing in altcoins. For example, following the Terra crash, the trader reiterated this belief saying, “crypto is Bitcoin and Bitcoin is crypto.” Meanwhile, despite these statements, Brandt has also often warned that Bitcoin still has a 50% chance of going to zero or the moon.

Brandt’s most recent chart analysis of the leading digital asset predicts further downside.

Robinhood Adds Support To Send And Receive Bitcoin, Ethereum, Shiba Inu And All Other Listed Assets

It’s good news for Robinhood users as the exchange added support to send and receive all listed cryptocurrency assets on the platform.

“Crypto transfers are here. You can now send and receive all listed crypto assets on Robinhood.”

The support makes it possible for all qualified users of the Robinhood app who have access to the WebWallets functionalities to send and receive any crypto currently listed on the app. According to Robinhood, users are eligible to access withdrawal and deposit facilities.

Recall Popular cryptocurrency investment app Robinhood added support for Shiba Inu (SHIB) alongside three other coins Polygon (MATIC), Solana (SOL), and Compound (COMP) in April 2022.

Robinhood this year launched its wallet functionality and today enabled the withdrawal and deposit facilities. Robinhood supports BTC, ETH, DOGE, MATIC, SHIBA INU, LTC, BCH, LINK, and others.

220K Ethereum Moved To Exchanges In One Day Highest Inflow Since August Last Year But ETH Keep Resisting

Following a slight rally in Ethereum (ETH) this week, investors are not letting go of the opportunity as they embark on profit-taking.

Fresh data from Santiment, a cryptocurrency on-chain analytics platform that provides market updates for over 2,000 digital currencies, suggest a massive inflow of Ethereum to crypto exchanges.

According to Santiment, only yesterday, more than 220,000 ETHs have been transferred from various external wallets to crypto exchanges, in what is considered the highest daily amount of Ethereum inflow to exchanges in the last 11 months.

“Ethereum saw a net of over 220k coins moving on to exchanges yesterday, the highest daily amount in 11 months,” Santiment tweeted.

Santiment noted that Ethereum profit-taking has continued today compared to losses.

“And thus far today, we’re seeing the largest ratio of ETH profit-taking vs. loss transactions since April. Be cautious in these conditions,” the cryptocurrency data provider noted in a tweet.

The sentiment chart further explains that this inflow is the highest since August 2021 and the profit-taking ratio is the highest since April 2022.

ETH Value Soars Over 12% in Days

The second-largest cryptocurrency has been recording nice gains this week after the lengthy crypto winter spell sent its price crashing below $1,000.

Ethereum started trading this week at around $1,070. Interestingly, the digital currency has soared over 12% this week as its price rallied to $1,216.

The asset class currently trades at $1,215 and is up 6.7% in the last 24 hours. Some factors are responsible for the surge in ETH price. However, the most significant is news of Celsius Network paying off its Bitcoin loan after receiving bailout funds from Sam-Bankman Fried’s FTX.

Ethereum Whales’ Patience Pays Off

Meanwhile, ETH’s profit-taking comes days after TheCryptoBasic reported that Ethereum whales have been seriously buying the cryptocurrency after its value dipped.

The data was specific to owners of addresses holding between 100 and 100,000 ETH, who took advantage to accumulate the cryptocurrency, following a 39% dip in the coin’s value.

The balance of ETH held by these addresses increased by 1.1% of ETH’s total supply.

Interestingly, their accumulation spree is paying off gradually as the cryptocurrency’s value continues to skyrocket.
