The Shibarium Hackathon

The Shiba Inu development team launched the Shibarium hackathon on June 30 to foster collaboration and inclusivity. Per the announcement from marketing specialist Lucie, the development activity has a grand prize of $5,000 in BONE.

Notably, BONE is the governance token of Shibaswap. It will be employed for gas fees purposes on the upcoming Shibarium mainnet.

The Shiba Inu bounty program is designed for talented tech enthusiasts, Web3 developers, designers, and visionaries. The Shibarium Hackathon is all about collaboration, so the team encouraged participants to form diverse groups to work together on ambitious projects in a welcoming environment.

Particularly, the hackathon requires participants to build new solutions and applications on decentralized finance (DeFi), zero-trust finance, Distributed Cloud Operating System (DC/OS), and healthcare.

While these are the primary focus, the Shiba Inu team noted that Shibarium hackathon teams are at liberty to build any solution. However, the announcement stressed that the applications must be original and new.

“During this hackathon, you are free to build anything you like. In fact, we want you to come up with something completely original and new. […] For this hackathon, the project must be a new development in order to ensure equal opportunity,” the announcement reads.

Key Requirements

To qualify for the grand prize, there are vital rules Shibarium hackathon participants should adhere to. Topping the list is the Shibarium testnet (Puppynet) is required for all smart contracts utilized in building applications during the bounty program.

Second, all teams are expected to document their work correctly. This work documentation (technology and architecture) is among the judging criteria. Third, participants in the Shibarium hackathon are expected to provide short videos of 2 to 5 minutes as part of their work documentation.

Notably, this development comes shortly after the Shibarium Beta Bridge was launched for public testing, as earlier reported by The Crypto Basic. These are pointers that the Shiba Inu L2 scaling solution will soon go live on the mainnet, as noted by Shytoshi Kusama.
