Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has vehemently denied allegations about abandoned projects and centralization of the Cardano network.
Cardano’s founder, Charles Hoskinson, was in the thick of a recent debate on X (formerly Twitter) surrounding past Cardano-based projects that were allegedly abandoned. The issues were raised by Fabian Bergen, a self-acclaimed Cardano ambassador operating the Cardano stake pool, Tempus.
At the core of the debate was a list of projects previously announced by the Cardano Foundation. These include efforts such as an enterprise blockchain partnership with the Ethiopian government, an ERC-20 converter for Cardano, and IELE (promoted as an improvement to Ethereum’s virtual machine).
Fabian claimed these projects were among the “many promises [from Cardano] that never came true.” The stake pool operator also called out the perceived monopoly that the Cardano-linked entity Input Output Global (IOG) has on network upgrades by maintaining a large set of keys required for such implementation.

According to Hoskinson, the project in Ethiopia is still under active development despite a war in the African nation and multiple changes in the country’s education administration. Notably, the partnership included a provision for the government to track students’ educational credentials using the Cardano blockchain.
Per the founder, Cardano also worked on the ERC-20 converter, although the tool was subsequently deprecated in favor of projects like Milkomeda, which provided the same functionalities. Lastly, Charles Hoskinson denied claims that IOG had complete control over Cardano.
Instead, the Cardano founder notes that the Cardano Foundation, IOG, and development arm Emurgo are all genesis key holders on Cardano. Besides, the project’s planned CIP 1694 proposal aims to introduce a decentralized governance mechanism on Cardano, a move that would make the notion of centralization by IOG irrelevant.
Meanwhile, the latest exchange between Charles Hoskinson comes during increased adoption of the Cardano network. As The Crypto Basic reported, there are now 1287 projects building on Cardano, with ten new projects joining in September.
