Bitcoin Closes Second Consecutive Weekly Candle Above 200-Week Moving Average (MA), Is The Bottom In?

0

We may be at the bottom.

In a tweet today, Bitcoin analyst Ali Martinez highlighted that Bitcoin printed the second weekly candle above the 200 weekly moving average, noting that the 200 weekly moving average has served as an indicator of the end of bear markets since 2014.

“Bitcoin printed a second consecutive weekly candlestick close above the 200-week MA. This week, BTC needs to remain trading above $23,000 to keep this crucial level as support. Notice that all previous BTC bear markets since 2014 ended around the 200-week MA,” Martinez tweeted.

It is worth noting that the question of when the bear market would end has continued to persist as crypto enthusiasts long for the days of mouth-watering returns and fanfare in the crypto market. However, while several analysts are unsure about the beginning of the next bull run, many are beginning to converge on their thoughts on when we are likely to reach the price bottom.

As previously reported by The Crypto Basic, Rekt Capital predicts that the current bear market will end in Q4 2022. Notably, his analysis aligns with those from Glassnode Insights, which estimates that the current bear market has just a couple of months left.

Meanwhile, in a tweet today, experienced price analyst Justin Bennett reveals that there might be a short-term price pump in the cards for Bitcoin. According to Bennett, Bitcoin just turned the $23,450 price point to support, noting that the last time Bitcoin reclaimed this level a year ago, it surged by 26%.

It is worth noting that the crypto markets had their best month this year in July, with Bitcoin rallying by about 18%. Bitcoin accumulation remains on the rise, even as volume on exchanges continues to decline.

Bitcoin is trading at the $23,700 price point, down 1.71% in the last 24 hours but up 4.3% over the previous seven days.

CryptoSpend users will earn up to a 3% bonus in XRP for spending both fiat and cryptocurrencies.

CryptoSpend, a cryptocurrency company, has launched Australia’s first Ripple (XRP) reward card program for its customers.

According to an announcement by local news outlet Australian Fintech, the initiative will see CryptoSpend’s fiat and crypto spenders get up to a 3% bonus in XRP within the same day of making a purchase.

Andrew Grech, the CEO of CryptoSpend, said:

“This XRP rewards card program is all about bringing additional value to our customers and CryptoSpend cardholders. By rewarding CryptoSpend Card users up to 3% back in XRP through the CryptoSpend app on the same day they spend, it provides another fantastic value-add for our customers.”

According to Grech, customers who spend Australian Dollars (AUD) will also be rewarded with a 3% bonus in XRP.

Widespread Adoption of CryptoSpend Card

CryptoSpend is based in Australia and offers its users the ability to spend their crypto assets on everyday purchases. The company was the first fintech company in Australia to roll out Visa-backed crypto payment cards.

Per the announcement, CryptoSpend partnered with Visa and Novatti Group to launch the cryptocurrency card last year.

Since its launch, crypto payment cards have been widely adopted. This year, CryptoSpend recorded massive growth in everyday transactional cards despite a decline in crypto prices.

Grech said the company had observed many Australians using their crypto assets for everyday items, including groceries and food.

“We have seen the popularity of Australians using crypto for their everyday spending increase massively. Not only have we seen a huge increase in people using the card for spending crypto, but we have also seen our repeat users increase daily,” Grech said, adding:

“This means people are not only using crypto on everyday items, but they are coming back to it day-in, day-out. It’s a new way of how people want to spend on consumer goods.”

Shiba Inu users have reasons to be excited as new Shiba Eternity details leak.

A screenshot of Discord conversations between the Shiba Inu lead developer known only as Shytoshi Kusama and members of the community shared by Gossip Shib on Twitter today has revealed new details about the direction of the Shiba Inu card collection game, Shiba Eternity.

According to the leaked chat, Kusama reveals that he is more focused on the best possible outcomes than price speculation. Further, the developer emphasizes that the game is “SUPER strategic” and has significant potential.

Notably, these new details will surely energize the brewing excitement in the Shiba Inu community surrounding the game release. Kusama himself stoked these flames of excitement with a tweet earlier today of a Dragon Ball Z GIF usually used to show excitement for the project.

It is worth noting that Shiba Inu only revealed the game’s name last week as the community celebrated two years of the Shiba Inu project. Additionally, according to the latest details, the game would bear many similarities with the popular fast-paced strategy card collection game Hearthstone with critical differences.

Notably, Gossip Shib speculates that Shiba Inu could release the long-anticipated game in just a couple of weeks at the end of August.

I believe Shiba Dev said the first comes game (Shiba Eternity) and then Shibarium (Q3 – is BETA around the end of September)

While Shiba Inu only recently revealed the game’s name, it has been a long time in the making. Shiba Inu first announced it was working on the game after it disclosed its partnership with Australian game developers PlaySide Studios in December last year.

After reaching great heights last year through the strength of its community, the Shiba Inu team has been working to shake off the meme coin tag by creating more utility. This push has seen the development team launch several initiatives, including the Doggy DAO and SHIB: The Metaverse.

Shiba Inu is trading at the $0.00001278 price point, up 2.96% in the last 24 hours and 9.56% over the previous seven days.

Over 410 Million XRP Transferred Among Ripple, Exchanges, and Unknown Wallets in 24 Hours.

Whale Alert shares more details of large XRP movements in the last 24 hours.

Whale Alert, a cryptocurrency whale tracking platform, keeps providing updates about large movements of XRP among centralized exchanges, Ripple, and unknown wallets.

Only last week, Whale Alert reported the transfer of over a billion XRP among Ripple, selected exchanges, and anonymous wallets. This week has also started on a good note, with an enormous amount of XRP transferred so far.

Over the last 24 hours, no less than 410 million XRP coins have moved across various wallets. According to data shared by the crypto whale tracking service, a total of 412,737,001 (412.73 million) XRP coins have been transferred among various wallets, including Ripple’s OTC address. At the time of writing, the coins were worth almost $155.6 million.

Firstly, 75 million XRP coins were transferred from leading cryptocurrency exchange FTX to an address belonging to an unidentified person or group. The coins were worth $28.5 million at the time of the transaction.

A few hours later, a large amount of XRP was seen leaving Ripple’s OTC distribution wallet to an unknown wallet. Per Whale Alert, a total of 200 million XRP coins, worth $76.42 million, were transferred from the blockchain company’s Over-the-Counter (OTC) wallet to an unnamed address.

Additionally, Whale Alert reported the movement of 30 million XRP ($11.36 million) from an anonymous wallet to Bitstamp exchange, a member of Ripple’s ecosystem.

Bitstamp has been involved in nearly all XRP movements in recent weeks. The trading platform was also used by Jed McCaleb, Ripple’s former CTO, to sell his last XRP holdings, as reported by TheCryptoBasic.

The cryptocurrency exchange was also involved in another large XRP movement in the last 24 hours. This time, a total of 30,137,001 XRP coins ($11.35 million) were transferred from Bitstamp to an unknown wallet.

Whale Alert also saw 40 million XRP coins, worth $15.06 million, moved from an unknown wallet to Bitso exchange, another member of Ripple’s ecosystem.

As shared by Whale Alert, 37.6 million Ripple coins, worth around $14.16 million, flowed from the Bitso exchange to an unknown cryptocurrency wallet.

Attorney James Filan: SEC’s Recent One-Sentence Response to Ripple Is an Abuse of the Judicial Process

0

The SEC waited five days just to file a one-sentence response to Ripple’s request to serve subpoenas to two non-parties.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has responded to Ripple and individual defendants’ request to serve subpoenas to two non-parties, to authenticate seven videos of SEC officials’ public remarks.

The SEC described Ripple’s request as “a reopening of fact discovery,” adding that it takes no position on Defendant’s demands.

Recall that on August 3, 2022, Ripple had requested permission to serve two video sharing platforms subpoenas to obtain seven video recordings of the commission’s officials, in which they made different public remarks.

After waiting for five days, the commission chose to file a short response to the Defendants’ request, which reads:

“Plaintiff Securities and Exchange Commission respectfully takes no position on Defendants’ motion to reopen fact discovery to serve non-party subpoenas for the purpose of obtaining video recordings for authentication.”

SEC Plans to Twist Ripple’s Request In Its Favor

It is noteworthy that Ripple stated that its request is not an effort to reopen fact discovery. The blockchain company and two of its executives noted that the subpoenas they wish to serve to the non-party relate to the Requests for Admission (RFA) served before the end of discovery.

Understandably, the SEC wants to tag Ripple’s request as a “reopening of fact discovery” because it wishes to also reopen fact discovery. The commission is also planning to serve its subpoenas to obtain unidentified video recordings, which supports its claim that XRP is a security.

“Specifically, the SEC has communicated to defendants that it would consent only if defendants agree to reopen discovery so that the SEC could now serve its own set of subpoenas to obtain copies of unspecified video recordings in support of its claims and only if defendants further agree to waive any authenticity and procedural objections to the unknown SEC videos,” Ripple said.

However, Ripple has maintained that its request is not to reopen fact discovery, adding that it strongly objects to the SEC’s efforts to do the same.

The blockchain company said that the subpoenas Ripple intends to serve do not pose an issue to the court’s timeline.

Commenting on the development, attorney James K. Filan, a former U.S. federal prosecutor, slammed the SEC’s response as an abuse of the court’s judicial process and a waste of the court’s time.

“The SEC’s response is simply an abuse of the judicial process and a waste of the Court’s time, as evidenced by the fact that the SEC waited five days to file a one-sentence response in which the SEC then misconstrued Ripple’s original request.”

Parties Want Their Motion Sealed

Meanwhile, both the SEC and Ripple have jointly filed a request for a briefing scheduled for motions to seal portions of their response to each other’s motion to exclude expert testimony.

The parties propose that all briefings and supporting documents regarding motions to exclude expert testimony should be filed under seal until Judge Analisa Torres sorts it out.

Terra Founder Do Kwon Breaks Twitter Silence, But Users Are Not Pleased

Terra founder Do Kwon remains defiant.

Embattled Terraform Labs founder Do Kwon finally broke his Twitter silence, reiterating his belief that the crypto world needs decentralized money that is censorship resistant in a tweet earlier today.

“Decentralized networks need decentralized money – obvious today more than ever,” Do Kwon tweeted.

Unsurprisingly, several members of the Twitter crypto community did not take kindly to Do Kwon’s bravado. Though the Terra founder turned off comments on the post, users had their say using quote tweets.

It is no news that Do Kwon’s attempts at decentralized money had not gone so well, with many convinced that he defrauded users. Notably, the de-pegging of Do Kwon’s stablecoin brainchild UST, which was supposed to fill the decentralized money gap by being backed by Bitcoin reserves, caused LUNA and UST holdings held by investors to become worthless overnight. As a result, Do Kwon and his firm remain under investigation in South Korea and the US, even as they face multiple class action lawsuits.

Do Kwon’s statements come after Circle, the issuer of USDC stablecoin, blocks all Ethereum addresses associated with Tornado Cash, freezing over 75,000 USDC. Notably, the move followed a US sanction on the Ethereum-based cryptocurrency mixer. The move has since raised concerns over the lack of stablecoin censorship resistance amongst privacy advocates in the crypto space.

Tornado Cash is a decentralized application that users can use to cover up a trail of crypto transactions on the blockchain. While privacy advocates argue that there are entirely legal reasons for these tools to exist, the lack of controls and recent use of these tools in headline-grabbing crypto exploits have become a cause for concern for regulators.

Attackers used the dApp in the Ronin bridge hack that saw over $600 million stolen in crypto assets to funnel their loot. The same was also the case in the Harmony bridge attack.

Fortune Recognize Ripple As One Of The Best Places To Work

Fortune Magazine Ranks Ripple Amongst 100 Best Places to Work.

American business Magazine Fortune has ranked Ripple 34th in its 100 Best Medium Workplaces. Ripple revealed this in a tweet where it added further that it would continue to grow its amazing team.

The US-based blockchain company is one of the major players in the crypto world, and XRP, its token, is the sixth largest in the world by market capitalization. Despite a continued bearish form since the start of the year, owing mainly to the extreme selloffs in the crypto market, the token continues to maintain a decent market cap of over $18 billion.

“Always nice to get a little third-party validation. Thank you, Ripplers! YOU are what makes Ripple one of the best,” Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said in a tweet, commenting on the Fortune Magazine ranking.

SEC v. Ripple Prolongs

The Fortune ranking is coming amidst the prolonged court case between Ripple and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The lawsuit started in 2020 after the SEC alleged that XRP is an unregistered securities offering.

Should the court rule in favor of the SEC and declare XRP security, it could breed issues for the company and its holders. Even without a court ruling, the cryptocurrency is already facing some problems. In January 2021, Coinbase delisted the token from its platform, mentioning the ongoing lawsuit as a reason. Besides Coinbase, after SEC sued Ripple, most exchanges in the US delisted XRP.

However, the Ripple CEO remains optimistic that a ruling in favor of the SEC will not disrupt the company’s operations to a large extent.

In an interview with Axios at the Collision 2022 event, Brad Garlinghouse reemphasized his confidence that the ruling would be in their favor. In his words, “I’m betting that (Ripple’s victory) because the law is on our side,  But If Otherwise, World Is Already Operating As If Ripple Has Lost.”

In April, a decision is expected to come in 2023, as revealed by Stuart Alderoty, Ripple’s legal counsel.

The token is currently trading at  $0.3799, a decent 1,71% increase in the last 24 hours as of the time of press.

“Behind Closed Doors”: How Crypto Projects Are Created – Maxim Kurbangaleev

0

Maxim Kurbangaleev, an expert on the crypto market, notes that anyone can create their own cryptocurrency – just copy an existing smart contract template and pay a small fee for its execution. Another and much more important question is will this cryptocurrency have any value?

A token without a working model

The market is brimming with trend-influenced cryptocurrencies – memes, sporting event fan tokens, and even professional dental cryptocurrencies – it seems the crypto world has seen it all. However, despite the abundance of digital coins, only a handful survive on the market.

“The source code of many tokens is in the public domain. You do not need to be an advanced specialist to copy the code and create a fork – a basic knowledge of programming languages is enough. What does another clone bring to the market? Nothing at all. Why create so many “dummies”? Often they are implemented for fun and hype, but also for fraud purposes., – Maxim Kurbangaleev explains.

Notably, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Thailand has banned local cryptocurrency exchanges from selling meme tokens, fan tokens, and NFTs. The reason for the ban, according to the SEC Secretary General, is that the tokens have no backbone or clear purpose, and their creation is dictated by social media trends.

“At first glance, harmless cryptocurrencies have their own pitfalls. Many popular meme tokens turn out to be rug pulls, leaving their users without money. Malicious creators wait for investors to pick up the token as much as possible, and then simply withdraw all the funds”, – Maxim Kurbangaleev warns.

To create or not, that is the question – Maxim Kurbangaleev

According to the expert, the success of any cryptocurrency lies in its uniqueness and value – that is why numerous clones remain forgotten, unable to compete with stronger projects with good USPs.

But a competent USP and originality of the idea is not everything: “It is important to understand that a startup is not an easy way to get rich. To create a truly high-quality product, you need to be ready for hard and well-coordinated work, as well as take on great responsibility. Not to mention the fact that any startup requires investments and time costs”, – says Maxim Kurbangaleev.

One of the most important stages in the creation of a project is the formation of a team, the expert claims. How to assemble a team of real professionals?

To date, there are still not enough specialists in cryptoeconomics and blockchain technology. Specialized education is only just emerging in Russia – the HSE recently added the “Introduction to blockchain technology and development on Solidity” course, while MISIS opened an educational track on “Algorithms of high-tech software”, where students learn to predict and analyze cryptocurrency rates. The search for talented blockchain developers is made more difficult by the fact that the demand for them is growing strongly – over the past year it has increased by 700%. In addition, the mere word “blockchain” in a developer’s resume increases his salary level by 25%.

“For a successful startup, you need a specialist with a good technical background, who can quickly understand the nuances of the technology. Such professionals can be found at hackathons (forums for developers) and events, they can also be seen on GitHub, the largest service for hosting IT projects. Moreover, talented specialists rarely leave their resumes anywhere, they are in demand and it is better to introduce them to your project at a personal meeting”, – says Maxim Kurbangaleev.

In addition to a blockchain developer, a startup team also needs other specialists: a crypto project marketer who will have to bring the project “to the people” – often on an international level, a white paper editor, designer, analyst, lawyer, and others.

Joint work on the project, according to the expert, will require a lot of effort from both the team and the CEO – obstacles await the team along the entire timeline of project development.

“Through hardships to the stars”: how to bring the team to a desirable result – Maxim Kurbangaleev

How to evaluate team performance? How to avoid conflict of interest? What do you need for motivation, in addition to bonuses? These and many other questions concern CEOs around the world.

“In my opinion, the approach of hard penalties, which is chosen by the vast majority of large corporations, negatively affects the creativity and energy of specialists. In a team, it is important to nurture the culture and convey values to each member, as well as give them a clear understanding of what is required of them. Among other things, the personal attitude of team members to work can be adjusted – you must admit that the majority of people have a strong opinion that it is indecent to come to the office without pants. In the same way, you can put the idea that not doing your job efficiently and on time is just as inappropriate”, – Maxim Kurbangaleev explains.

Penalties and other negative motivators are popular with executives who believe that the “stick” is much more effective than the “carrot”. And while the penalty system can indeed work, it’s hard to argue with the fact that employees are losing loyalty and no doubt leaving overly strict CEOs in search of a better life.

In a startup environment where every specialist is literally worth its weight in gold, talented team members are reluctant to sacrifice. Startups in the crypto industry differ from traditional businesses: universal and classic schemes do not work, and sincere enthusiasm is required from the team. “Less formalities, bureaucracy and approvals – that’s what you need for the productive work of the team and a successful startup,” Maxim Kurbangaleev is sure.

According to the expert, in a team where everyone is trying to shift responsibility to each other and pursue selfish goals, there will never be a positive result.

“Culture needs to be implemented at all levels: starting with radical honesty, when goals are clearly defined in the team and team members are not afraid to say “you know, you let me down.” The team has the right to know the financial performance and understand the cause-and-effect relationships, why the company takes a different path in a given period,” Maxim Kurbangaleev believes.

Maxim Kurbangaleev: How to maintain the internal discipline of the team?

The main difference between internal discipline and external discipline is that it is performed by one’s own will. It is believed that external discipline is not enough for effective work – control from the outside cannot last, and as soon as the CEO gives the employee freedom, organization can burst at the seams.

“The ability to make a conscious choice in favor of quality work is the professionalism of an employee. I am skeptical about fines and coercion, and in my projects I maintain discipline with motivation. When a person has an understanding of life goals and willpower, motivation is more than enough for fruitful and well-coordinated work,” Maxim Kurbangaleev answers.

The objective question is how to build a workflow with a new team member who has just joined the project? Especially if he, although talented, is new to the industry and not used to selfless work?

“With everyone who comes for a trial period to key positions, I interact personally and supervise them at all stages. I never do personality tests and prefer not to judge people by their appearance, trusting their competence more. It is important for me to determine the thinking of a person and understand what he is guided by – emotions or logic. Both are useful – I figure it out in order to distribute people to different positions and roles. In the future, owing to high levels of industry exposure, the beginner, with his own efforts and desire, is gaining experience, becoming a full-fledged member of the team,” says Maxim Kurbangaleev.

In the future, teams working on startups in the crypto industry may have their own regulations inherent in traditional business. “Maybe one day we will build a test system for new team members, but time will tell. Today, I prefer to practice and live interaction with each team member, because even with the most ideal technique, there is always a chance of error. If people with the wrong set of qualities get not matching positions, neither fines nor culture and values will help them – they simply will not be able to act. Invest your time in the team and take a personal part in the process, because the team is very important,” Maxim Kurbangaleev sums up.

Coinshares Reports Ethereum Records Seven Consecutive Weekly Inflows Totaling $159M

Ethereum is becoming investors’ favorite as the merge closes in.

Ethereum has recorded inflows totaling $16m in the past week. It is currently on a nearly seven consecutive week run of inflows totaling $159m, according to data shared by CoinShares.

CoinShares shared ‘This week’s Digital Asset Fund Flows Report’ revealing the Year-to-date inflows.

In the report, CoinShares revealed that Bitcoin saw outflows totaling US$8.5m, noting that short-bitcoin investment products saw a record outflow totaling US$7.5m for the second consecutive week. According to the report, this suggests that investors believe bitcoin prices have narrowed down.

Investor’s Sentiment, A Major Factor

The so-called Merge, which will complete Ethereum’s shift from a proof-of-work (PoW) consensus method to a proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain, will reportedly take place in late September 2022.

Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of the Ethereum blockchain, previously discussed his expectations for Ethereum following the ‘Merge’ completion.

After the Merge, Buterin confirmed that Ethereum would only be roughly 55% complete, as reported by The Crypto Basic. Also, another breakthrough for Ethereum with this upgrade is the ability to handle transactions faster and cheaper.

The Ethereum network is poised to handle over 100k Transactions per second after the Merge. Furthermore, Ethereum is anticipated to become 99% more environmentally friendly and energy efficient than it is at the moment due to the PoS system.

This is currently the most anticipated upgrade in the Crypto and Blockchain Industry, and many investors have shown positive sentiment toward the asset ahead of the upgrade.

According to CoinShares, the recent inflows witnessed on the Ethereum blockchain are linked to the upcoming Merge Upgrade, influencing many investors’ sentiment toward the asset. This has also unavoidably influenced the price of ETH.

Ethereum Price Action

The current Ethereum price is at $1,796.73 with a 24-hour trading volume of $15,044,489,436 as recorded on CoinMarketCap. Ethereum is up 5.49% in the last 24 hours, with a current market cap of $218,987,822,422.

Ethereum recorded a low level at $896.11 on June 18th, 2022. Ever since then, Ethereum has recorded over a 47% increase in the last 30 days after hitting $1,806.89 today.
