More Than 5 Years Needed To Remove The First Trillion From Supply At Current Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) Burn Rate

Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) Burn Progresses At a Slow Pace.

Terra community members engage in burning LUNC in a bid to reduce the token’s circulating supply.

TerraForm Labs is still committed to making investors whole after they suffered a devastating blow, following the collapse of the firm’s ecosystem tokens $UST and $LUNA.

Despite the launch of a new chain and new $LUNA tokens, Terra investors still do not feel the method is sufficient to compensate them for their losses, as they continue to yearn for a burn.

Meanwhile, the creation of new $LUNA tokens implies that Terra now has two $LUNA tokens. While one is referred to as $LUNA, the old one was renamed Luna Classic (LUNC). Both tokens exist side-by-side at the time of writing.

At the moment, the Terra team is focused on boosting the value of the new LUNA tokens in a bid to make investors whole, while not paying much attention to LUNC.

Kwon Creates an Inflammable LUNC Address

As the Terra community is still insisting that LUNC should be burnt to reduce its circulating supply from the more than 6.5 trillion in existence, Do Kwon, the founder, and CEO of TerraForm Labs posted a burn address on his Twitter page.

The address is an inflammable one where the community can send their $LUNC tokens in order to reduce the circulating supply of the cryptocurrency and ultimately boost the value of the cryptocurrency.

Bitquery Stats of LUNC Burns

Since the community burn initiative for LUNC commenced, the inflammable address has been receiving between 20 million and 60 million old LUNA tokens on a daily basis, suggesting that it would take quite a lot of work and commitment to burn more tokens.

According to data on popular block explorer Bitquery, the Terra community has burned over 650 million LUNC since the initiative started, which is nothing compared to the token’s total supply of over 6.5 trillion.

Terra Community Reaction to Burns

Reacting to the slow pace of burning of LUNC, the Terra community on Reddit has made different analyses on how long it would take for investors to burn the entire 6.5 trillion circulating supply.

D33N5 on Reddit said:

Another user u/atgs123 estimated that at the rate of 60 million LUNC burns per day, it is estimated that it will take approximately 300 years for the community to successfully burn the crypto’s circulating supply.

Meanwhile, it is still unknown whether the Terra team may decide to participate in the ongoing burn program and increase the amount of LUNC burns recorded daily. For now, the community is heading the burn program.

Ripple vs SEC: Attorney Deaton Says SEC’s Argument Is That William Hinman Is Both a “Client and Lawyer”

The attorney seeking to represent 67,000 XRP holders is still not done lashing out at the SEC over its comments.

Attorney John Deaton is still furious with the Securities and Exchange Commission over its recent claim that William Hinman’s documents in relation to his 2018 speech declared Ethereum a non-security.

SEC’s Quest to Protect Hinman’s Document

Recall that despite the SEC being ordered by the court to surrender Hinman’s documents to Ripple, the securities agency has launched several bids to keep the documents away from the blockchain company.

In April, the Securities and Exchange Commission launched a new bid to hold on to the Hinman documents by claiming that the document is protected by the attorney-client privilege.

Per the SEC, before drafting the June 18, 2018 speech, Hinman discussed with some SEC attorneys who gave him advice on the best way the speech should be presented.

The new claim has been widely criticized by Ripple and Individual Defendants, Brad Garlinghouse and Chris Larsen, and attorney Deaton.

Deaton Puts SEC on Blast

Attorney Deaton is still not done criticizing the SEC’s recent attorney-client claims over the Hinman documents. He continues to comment on any issues related to the agency’s quest to keep records away from Ripple.

In his latest public criticism of the SEC’s attorney-client privilege claims, the outspoken legal expert noted that what the SEC meant by its comments was that Hinman was both an attorney and a client.

Explaining in detail, attorney Deaton noted that Hinman was giving his colleagues legal advice about the June 18, 2018 “Ethereum free pass speech,” and he was also receiving legal advice about the speech at the same time.

His explanation is the valid argument the Securities and Exchange Commission is trying to make.

Attorney Deaton’s comment is in response to a blog post about the upcoming conference scheduled by Judge Sarah Netburn to discuss the SEC’s recent assertion that the attorney-client privilege protects Hinman’s document.

The blog post’s title reads “Ripple vs. SEC: The Case Gets a New Twist as SEC Claims Hinman Was a Client.” The part where the poster said “SEC Claims Hinman Was a Client” caught the attention of attorney Deaton who said the claim is “only 1/2 correct.

“The headline is only 1/2 correct. Hinman was both the CLIENT and the LAWYER simultaneously. He was giving legal advice to people at the SEC and receiving legal advice at the same time regarding the speech. That’s the SEC’s true argument,” attorney Deaton tweeted.

Meanwhile, XRP holders are anticipating the upcoming conference scheduled to be held on June 7, 2022, where Ripple, SEC, and Judge Netburn will discuss the attorney-client privilege claims.

Interested XRP holders are urged to call designated numbers to listen to the conference proceedings.

Report Suggests Large Terra Investors Abandoned LUNA And UST Before Things Went Wild

The company noted how small UST became the major victim of Terra’s collapse.

Following the unfortunate incident that rocked the Terra ecosystem and the entire crypto market last month, more information has emerged about what caused TerraUSD (UST) and LUNA to suffer a mind-boggling crash.

According to a recent report published by Jump Crypto, the cryptocurrency arm of Chicago-based Jump Trading, noted that UST crashed massively because large investors pulled out of their positions moments after the stablecoin lost its peg.

Large UST Investors Excited While Small Ones Trooped In

While large UST investors were exiting their positions in the stablecoin, small traders were busy buying the dip with the hope that the cryptocurrency will rally again considering the heavy venture capitalists backing the project.

However, things did not happen that way, as the exit of large investors from Terra tokens left a massive vacuum that could not be filled by the entrance of small traders.

In the report written by Jump Crypto researchers Nihar Shah and Maher Latif, while large investors exited the Terra Anchor program as early as May 7, 2022, a day after UST lost its peg to the dollar, smaller investors trooped in a few days later.

These small investors hoped to capitalize on the whopping 20% ROI that the Terra team is offering. However, little did they know that the big players are closing their position in the cryptocurrency.

According to the report:

  • “First, the episode was triggered by a combination of trades in the UST/3CRV pool during a seventy-five-minute window on Saturday, May 7.
  • These trades involved TFL withdrawing UST liquidity, and two wallets putting large UST sell orders through the pool, upsetting the pool’s balance and depth.
  • outflows from Anchor — particularly overnight on May 7 and on the morning and early afternoon of May 9 — put substantial pressure on the UST peg.
  • Large depositors disproportionately drove the outflows. In fact, small depositors increased their exposure during this episode.
  • the crypto market selloff on May 9 added additional pressure to UST, which may have finally pushed it off the peg by several hundred basis points.
  • As a coda to the de-pegging, as the on-chain burn mechanism started printing LUNA to burn UST, the supply of LUNA skyrocketed and the price of LUNA collapsed.”

Jump Crypto’s Relationship With Terra

It is worth noting that Jump Crypto was heavily involved in the defunct Terra blockchain. Jump Crypto president Kanav Kariya is a member of Terra’s governing council and is listed on the TerraForm Labs website, suggesting how close Jump is to Terra.

Despite the relationship between Jump Crypto and TerraForm Labs, the report failed to highlight its role during the collapse of Terra ecosystem tokens.

Although Jump Crypto refused to discuss the role it played during the collapse of UST and LUNA, it is common knowledge that large Terra investors exited earlier than small traders did during the depth of the stablecoin.

Large VCs Massive Gain

As reported earlier, Panthera Capital disclosed that it made over 100x profit from Terra ecosystem tokens before the cryptocurrency crashed tremendously.

According to Joey Krug, Panthera’s fund’s co-chief investment officer, the company made over $170 million from its initial investment of $1.7 million.

Discussing how lucky Panthera Capital was with Terra tokens, Krug said:

“For the large portion which we sold over 2021 and part of 2022, it was a really simple risk management reason. It kept becoming a larger and larger part of the fund and so we had to de-risk it since you can’t really run a liquid hedge fund with one position being a super large portion of the fund.”

Similarly, Hack VC and CMCC Global were also lucky enough to close their positions on Terra tokens before things got out of hand.

New DEX Platform Wants To Burn Terra Luna Classic (LUNC)

New DEX Platform Wants To Burn Luna Classic (LUNC), To Be Launched On Terra 2.0.

After Do Kwon and Terraform Labs rejected community calls to burn LUNA instead of creating a whole new chain, all seemed to be calm, until now. It so happens that not everyone was impressed by Terraform’s decision to not burn the tokens.

Now, a team of developers has come up with a seemingly perfect solution of their own – launch a community-based DEX with the primary purpose of burning lots of LUNC (Luna Classic). For maximum effect, the platform will be called “Burning DEX.”

Facilitate Burning Of LUNC

There are currently close to 7 trillion LUNC tokens minted, and this huge number has greatly contributed to the troubles plaguing the Terra ecosystem. Burning DEX promises to fix the ecosystem by institution a number of measures that give power back to the people and prop up LUNC for success.

To burn LUNC, users will be required to send their tokens to the burning address earlier shared by Terra’s Do Kwon a few weeks ago. Here’s the address:

terra1sk06e3dyexuq4shw77y3dsv480xv42mq73anxu

Basically, burning tokens involves sending them to an address where they can’t be retrieved. They’re lost forever and totally removed from the ecosystem. This has the effect of increasing demand due to scarcity, and thereby increasing the price.

“Burning DEX” issued a statement on Medium, detailing its mode of operations along with technical details of how the burning mechanism and the trading platform will function.

A section of the statement reads:

“Burning DEX is a community-driven protocol built to benefit all true Lunatics, via the burning of Luna Classic tokens — LUNC. By incorporating the burning of LUNC tokens into the exchange, the team believes that the memetic power of LUNC burning will propel the protocol to heights impossible to reach by centralised, capitalist protocols. The team has a history of delivering projects on both Terra and Ethereum. They were drawn to Terra 2 by the ongoing work and mission of the LUNC DAO team, whom they deeply admire.”

Promote Decentralization

Besides offering high APY to users who provide liquidity on the platform, Burning DEX promises to support total decentralization by giving total control of the platform to the LUNC community. There will also be a fair airdrop to users during the launch. With this, Burning DEX claims to be “a DEX of the people.”

While the platform is planned to be launched on the Terra 2.0, there’s no mention of who is behind its development or when it will go live.

MEXC Global was the first exchange to Vote to Decide on LUNA Burn by Utilising LUNA Trading Fees on the exchange.

On First Birthday Babydoge Burnt 3 Quadrillion Coins Worth $5M With 50 Quadrillion Burn Party Upcoming

0

Babydoge is celebrating its birthday with massive burning.

On the 1st Happy Birthday Celebration, Baby DogeCoin (BabyDoge) Sent 3 Quadrillion BabyDoge, worth $5,100,000 ($5.10M), To Dead Wallet and Will Soon Conduct a “50 Quadrillion Burn Party.”

Baby doge celebrates 1st Birthday by permanently removing a whopping total of 3 Quadrillion BabyDoge tokens worth $5,100,000 ($5.10M) from circulation in one significant transaction.

The BabyDoge team shared a transaction link as a “Proof of Burn” with its community following the burn.

Baby Doge Coin team doesn’t stop here. To make the day more special, the team behind the token launched the community proposal on the snapshot to burn a whopping 50 Quadrillion BabyDoge tokens on Ethereum.

BabyDoge has given the right to vote to the community and made the following three options available to choose from:

Option 1: Yes, Burn Them All at Once

Option 2: Yes, Burn Them Over 2 Months

Option 3: No Save Them

As per the recent update shared by the official Twitter handle of BabyDoge, over 1.5 quadrillion vote has been cast. Out of which, over 90% of votes were cast in favor of burn. However, the poll is still live and will reportedly end on June 28th.

This is not the first time BabyDoge has sent such a massive amount of BabyDoge tokens to the dead wallet. Since the start of the New Year 2022, BabyDoge has been burning quadrillion tokens every month.

Formerly, Baby DogeCoin has burnt 5 Quadrillion Coins worth $11.50 million in January, 4.8 Quadrillion tokens worth $20 million in February, 4 Quadrillion tokens worth over $12.80 million in March, 3.2 Quadrillion tokens worth over $10 million in April, and 4 Quadrillion tokens, worth over $6.8 million in May.

This means, including the latest 3Q burn, BabyDoge has sent a whopping total of 24 quadrillion canine-themed meme tokens worth over $66.2 million to the dead wallet in six months. As per data provided by CoinGecko, the current circulating supply of BabyDoge stands at 159,278,394,658,793,747 (159.27Q).

Besides this, BabyDoge is leading all the popular canine-themed cryptocurrencies from the front in terms of holders. As per BscScan data, 1,560,098 (1.56M) unique wallet addresses hold BabyDoge, whereas, Etherscan.io reports that only 1,173,687 (1.17M) unique wallet addresses own Shiba Inu.

Shiba Inu Holders Can Now Lend, Borrow, and Short-Sell SHIB via Beta Finance

0

Now, Shiba Inu holders can lend, borrow and short sell their SHIB tokens on-chain as Beta Finance added support for Shiba Inu (SHIB).

Beta Finance, a permissionless money market on Ethereum for borrowing, lending, and shorting crypto assets has officially listed Shiba Inu on its platform.

This listing has enabled users to lend their SHIB to earn additional yield from borrowers while allowing traders/short-sellers to borrow Shiba Inu and short it to hedge positions plus earn the premium.

Beta Finance is on a mission to offset crypto volatility and bring market stability.

Therefore, it comes up with a critical financial tool for short-selling that is missing in the Defi ecosystem. Users can easily do so with the platform’s “1-Click Short” tool. It allows users to access a scalable and accessible money market where tokens can be listed permissionless and automatically and where users can short these tokens.

Allen Lee, an MIT alumnus that previously worked as a software engineer at Microsoft and Facebook is the founder of Beta Finance. It’s also backed by a well-known group of investors, including Spartan Group, ParaFi Capital, Multicoin Capital, DeFiance Capital, and Delphi Digital. Beta Finance also has its token with the name Beta Finance (BETA).

Charles Hoskinson Says Cardano Will Reveal “Amazing” Features of Input Endorsers Next Week

0

Cardano’s development team has continued to develop the network to enable it to rival the top blockchains in the industry.

Despite the mind-blowing performance of Cardano in recent years, the development team is in no mood for relaxation as they continue to build new infrastructure and protocols to make the network more scalable.

While the community is still anticipating the important features that will be rolled out along the Vasil Hard Fork later this month, Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, has teased about the amazing features that will be added to the network’s Input Endorsers upgrade.

According to a recent tweet made by Hoskinson, the Cardano development team had a discussion about the features that will be added to the Input Endorsers upgrade, which is slated to go live later this year.

Although Hoskinson refused to give the Cardano community a tip or two about what they would be expecting, he disclosed that the team will discuss extensively in a video about the upcoming features that will be added to Input Endorsers by next week, the period of the upcoming Consensus 2022 conference.

“Just got off a research call. I think everyone will be pleased about some genuinely amazing things coming together for Input Endorsers. We’ll have a video at Consensus on it,”  Hoskinson said.

Cardano Input Endorsers to Usher In Faster Transactions

Input Endorsers is a Cardano upgrade slated to go live later this year after the Vasil Hard Fork  Event. The upgrade is expected to yield a super-fast layer-1 network in the battle for supremacy among top blockchain networks, including Ethereum and Solana.

The Input Endorser was first discussed in Cardano’s Ouroboros research paper published by Input Output Global (IOG).

While Cardano’s Ouroboros protocol has enhanced the network’s security and faster transaction processing, Input Endorsers will amplify the entire performance of the blockchain, especially bolstering the speed it takes to complete transactions and develop decentralized applications (dApps).

Input Endorsers to Meet Future Demands

Although the current Cardano network has been running uninterrupted for more than five years and meeting users’ demands, Input Endorsers represent a future preparation that the IOG believes should be made available before the need for it arises.

Input Endorsers plan to make Cardano super fast by splitting each block into two, with one deployed to hold transaction data, while the other is used as a consensus block.

Last month, John Woods, IOG’s Director of Cardano Architecture, gave more insights about how the firm intends to go about the implementation of Input Endorsers:

“If we decompose it, we split the block into two. So, we no longer have a single block on the network, but we now have two blocks. And we use one block to hold transactions and another block to achieve consensus.”

Woods added that when Input Endorsers go live, Cardano will always have consensus every 20 seconds and transactions can be sent all the time instead of waiting as demanded in the current system.

DOGE Founder Explains Why He’s Still Associated With Dogecoin Despite Leaving Project In 2015

Shibetoshi: I’m Only Here Because Elon Musk Made DOGE Famous.

Shibetoshi has been hitting the headlines of late, thanks to his Twitter character that involves bashing cryptos and getting aggressive while at it.

Shibetoshi is Billy Markus, the co-creator of Dogecoin, a meme coin that has been around since 2015. The other co-creator is Jackson Palmer, an Australian who has recently been involved in a rather funny Twitter spat with Elon Musk.

For the last few days, Billy Markus has been a target of criticism on crypto Twitter, mainly because of his antagonism to cryptocurrencies. Many people don’t it kindly that he should be criticizing cryptos when he was the first guy to create a meme coin.

Not DOGE Leader

In an attempt to deflect the negative attention, Shibetoshi Nakamoto, as he calls himself on Twitter, has been sending out tweets to counter the attacks.

Responding to one crypto fan who told him to be humble in the crypto space considering that he created a meme coin, Billy said that his bashing of cryptos has nothing to do with being humble since he left the DOGE project over 7 years ago after starting it just a few months prior.

He went on to opine that he’s currently famous in the crypto space only because Elon Musk marketed DOGE and made it famous.

“this has nothing to do with being humble, I’m not the leader of dogecoin, i made it 8 years ago and left the project 7.5 years ago. the only reason i am here is because elon raised a lot of attention to it, I am fully aware of this. my objective is not to prop up doge.”

With that, Billy Markus seems to have a point. It’s a fact that Elon Musk has been heavily in support of Dogecoin for some time, even praising it for its energy efficiency. Elon has also been planning to work with a team of developers to advance the DOGE network.

Recently Elon Musk Applauded Dogecoin’s Billy Marcus and said “You’re humble bro. Billy’s sense of humor & irreverence is a big part of why people love Dogecoin,”

The Crypto Space Is Mostly Bullsh*t

According to Billy Markus, who doesn’t seem to want anything to do with cryptos anymore, the crypto space is mostly garbage. He recently said that all projects on Binance Smart Chain are garbage. He’s deeply convinced that most crypto projects launched these days are only aimed at benefiting a few people at the expense of the society.

Is Billy Markus right, or is he late in the crypto race?

Doge Founder Says Dogecoin Started As Joke But Now “Every Project is Made to Enrich Creators At Expense of Community”

DOGE Founder Now Says All Crypto Projects Launched Now Are Just Cash Cows For Their Creators.

Just recently, Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus tweeted that every token launched on Binance Smart Chain is worthless garbage and anyone shilling them is an idiot.

However, he seemed to forget that he’s one of the creators of a meme coin called DOGE that literally idolizes a dog. His tweets about BSC sparked a backlash on crypto Twitter and didn’t augur well with the community.

It Was Just A Joke

Now, Shibetoshi is back to defend his stance and fend off attacks referencing his role in DOGE.

In a recent tweet, Billy admitted that DOGE was started as a joke meant to make fun of the overtly nonsensical crypto dynamics. Surprisingly, the memecoin caught the attention of millions of crypto fans and went on to gain support and become one of the top coins in the market.

From a critical perspective, Billy Markus would seem to have a strong point if at all he really started Dogecoin as a way to make fun of the crypto market.

“every project started now is made to enrich the creators at the expense of the community.”

Projects Are Made To Enrich Creators

According to him, the projects being started now are only meant to make their creators rich on the backs of the unsuspecting crypto community.

He further said: “if you made money from some “BSC gem,” you just took it from some gambler who also wanted to make money.”

Billy was saying this to defend his earlier stance about the tokens launched on BSC. He was replying to one crypto fan who alleged that Billy bailed out of the DOGE project and dumped his stash on the community even before the coin was stable in the market.

Billy Didn’t Buy A Honda Civic

When Billy tweeted about BSC, one fan responded by saying Billy sold his DOGE stash to buy a car, a Honda Civic, alluding to the rug-pulling nature of some weak crypto projects. By this, Shibetoshi found himself in a corner.

In another tweet, he attempted a comeback to clear the air on how he used the proceeds from his Dogecoin stash. He said he cashed out his DOGE coins back in 2015 just to pay rent. He didn’t buy a Honda Civic with the proceeds. Whether the community will be satisfied by this assertion remains to be seen.
