Eric Trump Says “You Will Be Run Over” If You Bet Against Bitcoin and Ethereum

0

Eric Trump has recapped his bullish price outlook for Bitcoin and Ethereum, warning that bears will face severe losses if they persist in betting against them.

The pro-crypto son of the US President Donald Trump suggested to his 5.8 million X followers that Bitcoin and Ethereum—the two largest cryptocurrencies by market cap—are similar to a moving train. As a result, betting against them would get one run over.

He shared this bullish sentiment on Friday as the broader cryptocurrency market rebounded from the recent scare. Specifically, Bitcoin rallied past $117,000, and Ethereum reclaimed $4,100, fueled partly by recent executive orders signed by Trump.

Eric Trump Takes Delight as Ethereum Bears Rekt

Specifically, he revealed that seeing Ethereum shorts getting smoked “puts a smile” on his face. Notably, Eric has been a longstanding Ether bull, often urging crypto enthusiasts to buy every Ethereum dip while they can.

With the recent Ethereum price resurgence sparking massive bear position liquidation, Eric Trump taunted those who were at the receiving end of this loss. According to him, betting against Ether is like waiting to be run over.

Meanwhile, this comes as Ethereum rallied past $4,100 for the first time since December 2024. It finally breached the $4,000 resistance as analyst Benjamin Cowen predicted last month, liquidating bears in no small way.

For context, Ethereum positions worth $208 million faced liquidation in the past 24 hours, accounting for over 56% of the total $369.7 million lost in the futures market. Of the number, $183.6 million were short positions, with just $24.4 million in longs affected.

Possible Catalysts and Future Ethereum Price Outlook

Interestingly, this Ethereum resurgence has come as institutional interest in Ethereum increases. The emergence of Ether treasury companies, which have incessantly acquired the asset, and inflows from the US Ethereum ETFs have been major catalysts.

Furthermore, the new narrative that Ethereum would benefit from the stablecoin legislation recently signed into law in the US has also solidified its traction with institutions. Tom Lee, the CIO of Fundstrat and Bitmine chairman, has been fronting this sentiment, recently noting that Ethereum is having its 2017 moment now.

With the surge above the crucial resistance, optimism of higher prices among market users has received a substantial boost. Lee earlier predicted a rally to $16,000 by the end of this year, with analyst Carl Moon betting on a near 7x rally to $25,000.

Top U.S. Exchange to Give Away XRP to One Lucky Winner, Hints at Something Big Coming in Weeks

Leading U.S. exchange Gemini has announced plans to give away XRP tokens to one lucky follower.

This announcement came via Gemini’s official social media handle on X, revealing plans to give away 305 XRP tokens — equivalent to $1,000 — to one person. According to the post, the exchange is organizing this giveaway to “celebrate the future of finance.”

Context of the XRP Giveaway Celebration

Notably, this move came as the price of XRP surged back into the $3 range, reaching $3.36 after previously dipping to $2.90 this week.

The XRP price rebound gained momentum following the announcement of the conclusion of the Ripple lawsuit. The SEC and Ripple officially moved to dismiss their appeals, bringing the lawsuit to a definitive end.

Given the significance of this event, XRP’s price spiked. Amid this celebration, Gemini is giving away $1,000 worth of XRP to a follower. To qualify, users were required only to like Gemini’s giveaway post and follow its official account.

Gemini stated that it would select and notify the winner by August 8. Additionally, the winner must have a Gemini account to receive the reward.

“Something Big Coming in Weeks”

The U.S. crypto platform followed through on its promise, announcing a winner in a follow-up post. It expressed excitement at the level of engagement and welcomed new XRP enthusiasts and followers.

In the same post, Gemini teased that something “BIG” is coming in the next few weeks, urging followers to stay engaged during this period.

Notably, Gemini has been one of the leading U.S. exchanges actively promoting XRP on social media, especially since listing the token in August 2023. Since then, the platform has launched several initiatives to boost XRP’s presence.

Gemini’s Historical XRP Promotions

One such initiative was a special cashback program tied to the Gemini Credit Card. Users could earn XRP rewards by shopping online, including 2% back in XRP on groceries.

Additionally, Gemini launched a limited-time promotional campaign called the “XRP Faucet.” This initiative distributed 4,000 XRP per day, allowing eligible verified users to claim 20 XRP each. This campaign has since ended.

Other Exchanges Promoting XRP

Meanwhile, another U.S. exchange with a long-standing history of supporting XRP is Uphold. In June 2025, Uphold partnered with Zebec Network to reward XRP holders who had at least $50,000 worth of XRP in their accounts on June 11, 2025. Eligible users received a proportional share of $100,000 worth of ZBCN tokens.

From late 2023 to early 2024, Uphold also ran monthly XRP giveaways through its Sweepstakes campaign, offering up to 50,000 XRP to qualifying users.

XRP Takes Top Spot in Grayscale Weekly Crypto Snapshot

0

XRP’s recent performance has earned it the top position in Grayscale’s Crypto Snapshot, making it the best-performing cryptocurrency of the week.

Fresh data from Grayscale Investments shows that XRP outperformed major assets like Stellar, Cardano, and Dogecoin to clinch the first position in Grayscale’s Crypto Snapshot – Asset.

For context, the Crypto Snapshot – Assets is a weekly report from Grayscale showing the performance of the top 10 cryptocurrencies, excluding stablecoins.

XRP Leads with Over 9% Weekly Gain

Notably, XRP led the ranking with a 9.7% gain for the week, spanning July 31 – August 7, 2025. This marks a remarkable turnaround for the token, which ranked sixth the prior week (July 24–31) following a 3.9% decline.

Given its latest performance over the past week, XRP’s year-to-date returns (YTD) soared to around 59.4%, pushing its market cap to $196.4 billion. At the moment, XRP is trading at $3.29, up 11.30% over the past week and 36.45% in the past 30 days.

Latest updates from the SEC and Ripple lawsuit had a significant impact on the performance of XRP this week. The token, which was gradually recovering from the widespread sell-off driven by President Trump’s tariff update, experienced a significant surge after the SEC and Ripple asked the Second Circuit to dismiss their appeals.

Performance of Other Top 10 Non-Stablecoin Cryptos

As a result, XRP secured the top position in the Grayscale Crypto Snapshot, outperforming Stellar and Cardano, which ranked second and third, respectively.

According to the data, Stellar claimed the second position with a weekly gain of 9.1%. In comparison, Cardano’s price grew 6.3% over the week, positioning it as the third-best performing cryptocurrency in Grayscale’s Crypto Snapshot.

Notably, Dogecoin, Ethereum, Tron, and Solana occupied the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh positions, posting gains of 6.1%, 5.8%, and 4.2% over the week.

Bitcoin sits near the bottom of the leaderboard, ranking eighth among the best-performing top 10 non-stablecoin cryptocurrencies. As of August 7, the premier cryptocurrency saw a modest gain of only 1.5% over the week.

BNB and Hyperliquid found themselves in the ninth and tenth positions on the leaderboard. While BNB registered a slight growth of 0.5% over the week, Hyperliquid did not see any gain or loss in the same timeframe. Despite having a flat performance this week, Hyperliquid still has the highest year-to-date returns at 69.5%.

Here’s How High XRP Price May Rise as MVRV Ratio Flashes Another Golden Cross

0

XRP price could observe another impressive upsurge from the current level, as the MVRV Ratio flashes its third golden cross since November 2024.

Market analyst Ali Martinez first called attention to this development in a recent analysis. Notably, the analysis comes on the back of XRP’s recovery push following the final resolution of the SEC vs. Ripple lawsuit, with XRP attempting to recover its yearly peak of $3.66.

Amid this push, Martinez found that the MVRV Ratio has flashed a bullish sign. For context, analysts use the MVRV ratio to measure how a crypto asset’s market cap compares to the average purchase price of all coins in circulation. It helps to assess whether the coin is overvalued or undervalued at its current price.

Past Golden Cross Instances

Notably, a golden cross occurs on the MVRV Ratio when the short-term MVRV moves above the long-term MVRV. It often materializes during sharp short-term price spikes, indicating that the market is showing strengthening momentum.

Data from Martinez’s chart shows that such a golden cross has historically been an important indicator of an imminent surge in XRP price. According to the chart, it appeared in early November 2024, as XRP observed an initial short-term price spike following Donald Trump’s victory.

XRP Price Surges After Each MVRV Ratio Golden Cross Ali Martinez
XRP Price Surges After Each MVRV Ratio Golden Cross | Ali Martinez

After the MVRV ratio flashed the golden cross, XRP price skyrocketed further, eventually breaching the $2 and $3 psychological marks in one fell swoop. According to Ali Martinez, during this run, XRP rallied by an impressive 630% following the golden cross.

The event occurred again in early July, as XRP showed signs of recovery after the consolidation that lasted from February to June 2025. Following the golden cross in early July, XRP surged again, rallying to a new peak of $3.66 by July 18. Martinez noted that this second rally involved a less explosive 54% increase.

Another MVRV Ratio Golden Cross: How Could XRP Price React?

Despite the varying degrees of upsurge, the takeaway is that an MVRV Ratio golden cross often precedes an XRP price increase. Now, Martinez has identified a third golden cross, which took shape as XRP recovered from a dip below $3 earlier this month.

If the trend repeats, this latest cross could lead to another surge in XRP price. With XRP currently trading for $3.3 at press time, a 630% rally, similar to the November 2024 pattern, would lead to a price of $24. Interestingly, XRP critic and Bitcoin maxi Davinci Jeremie predicted earlier this year that XRP could reach $24 this cycle.

Meanwhile, if XRP follows the July trend, a 54% rise could push prices to $5. DustyBC, a prominent YouTuber, previously argued that an XRP price below $5 is cheap.

Notably, an alternative path the XRP price could take would be to rally at the average of both rallies, which amounts to 342%. Interestingly, following this route, which could take months to complete, would push XRP price to a peak of $14.4.

Here’s Why XRP Investors May Feel Happier and XRP Price Could Shoot Up

0

XRP holders have a new reason to smile after the SEC granted Ripple a critical waiver that could remove one of the last major roadblocks from its long-running legal fight with the regulator.

Notably, the waiver, which came as both Ripple and the U.S. SEC filed to drop their appeals, means the company can continue raising capital through certain private offerings without facing restrictions that would normally apply because of the standing court injunction.

XRP Investors Could Feel Happier: Grok Explains

As the public caught this new development, spotlighted by attorney John Deaton’s Crypto Law, market commentator CryptoInsightUK turned to xAI’s chatbot, Grok, to discuss what it means in simple terms.

Grok explained that the SEC had rules in place limiting what Ripple could do with money following its lawsuit over XRP. According to the chatbot, the SEC’s latest action is like handing Ripple a “get out of jail free” card, allowing the company to raise money more easily.

Grok also noted that such positive news could boost investor confidence and possibly lift XRP’s price. It suggested that this signals a friendlier shift in the U.S. government’s approach to crypto, especially after new laws for stablecoins took effect in July 2025.

Significance of the New SEC Waiver

Notably, the waiver is particularly important. Normally, companies under certain SEC injunctions are disqualified from exemptions under Regulation D of the Securities Act, which lets them raise funds from accredited investors without going through full SEC registration.

Ripple’s permanent injunction, issued last year, would have triggered that disqualification. However, the SEC decided there was “good cause” to let Ripple keep using these exemptions, effectively removing the most damaging consequence of the injunction while leaving it on paper.

In practice, Ripple can now operate almost as if the restriction never existed when it comes to private fundraising. The SEC took this route after Judge Analisa Torres failed to vacate the injunction on the regulator’s demand.

For XRP investors, this matters because it restores Ripple’s ability to bring in new funding for business growth and expansion without cumbersome legal barriers. More importantly, it clears away the shadow from the legal battle that has weighed on the token’s long-term outlook.

In the past, XRP’s price has reacted sharply to positive case developments, with double-digit percentage gains in short bursts, and Grok believes the latest development could trigger similar market optimism.

Ripple vs SEC Comes to a Decisive Close

Notably, this moment marks the official close of a nearly five-year court saga. Recall that in July 2023, Judge Analisa Torres ruled that XRP sales on public exchanges to retail buyers did not break securities laws, but institutional sales did.

She ordered Ripple to pay a $125 million fine, far less than the SEC’s $2 billion demand, and imposed a permanent injunction on institutional sales.

Both sides appealed, and in 2025, the SEC’s new leadership and Ripple jointly sought to have the injunction lifted and the fine reduced to $50 million. Judge Torres refused, and after more failed talks, both parties have now agreed to drop their appeals, ending the case for good. Now, with the waiver in place, Ripple can move forward with more freedom.

BlackRock Rules Out Immediate Plans for Spot XRP ETF

0

World’s largest asset manager BlackRock refutes claims about its potential plan to launch spot ETFs separately tied to XRP or Solana.

Industry stakeholders have been predicting that BlackRock will broaden its cryptocurrency ETF offerings to include assets beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.

In particular, Nate Geraci, the President of NovaDius Wealth Management, expressed confidence that BlackRock will soon join the race to launch standalone XRP and Solana ETFs in the United States.

He suggested that several factors could be delaying BlackRock’s decision to file for ETFs separately tied to XRP or Solana, including the possibility that the asset manager could be waiting for a more comprehensive regulatory framework.

BlackRock Denies Immediate Plans to File for XRP or Solana ETF

However, BlackRock recently issued a statement, dismissing immediate plans to file for a Solana ETF or a similar product for XRP.

Sharing the comment on X, Geraci said that BlackRock has called him out based on his initial speculation that the asset manager will join the race to roll out a spot XRP ETF or a Solana ETF.

Notably, BlackRock refuted this claim shortly after the SEC and Ripple submitted a joint motion to dismiss their appeals, potentially ending the regulatory uncertainty surrounding XRP.

While some commentators argued that the lawsuit was the main reason BlackRock avoided filing for an XRP ETF, its recent decision—despite the lawsuit’s conclusion—suggests otherwise.

A Costly Mistake

Reacting, Geraci believes that BlackRock would later reflect on that decision as a mistake.

In his previous commentary, the wealth manager suggested that filing for an XRP or SOL ETF would help solidify BlackRock’s dominance in the crypto ETF market.

He also pointed out that by refusing to expand its crypto ETF offerings beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum, BlackRock is indirectly picking winners and losers in the space. Geraci considered this preferential treatment to be illogical.

Nonetheless, Geraci suggested that he is willing to wait and see how BlackRock’s refusal to file for XRP or SOL ETF will play out. In the meantime, BlackRock is exclusively focused on its existing Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETFs and has not revealed plans to delve into other crypto assets.

Meanwhile, the SEC is actively reviewing the multiple XRP and Solana ETF applications and will decide their fate later this year.

Many industry experts, including Eric Balchunas and James Seyffart of Bloomberg, are optimistic that the SEC will approve at least one of these ETFs later this year. It remains to be seen whether this projection would materialize.

Here’s What $1,000 Invested in XRP at Launch is Worth Today

0

If an investor had committed $1,000 in XRP when it first appeared on exchanges and held onto the tokens, how much would the investment be worth now?

XRP has come a long way from its humble beginnings, being one of the earliest crypto assets to hit the market. For context, the XRP Ledger (XRPL), which hosts the XRP token, debuted in June 2012. However, market data from CoinMarketCap and other analytics platforms does not provide information on XRP pricing before August 2013.

XRP Journey Since August 2013

According to CoinMarketCap, XRP’s earliest trading price as of Aug. 5, 2013, stood at $0.00587, worth nearly nothing to the average investor. With the total supply of 100 billion tokens, the entire XRP market had a valuation of $587 million at the time, a testament to its humble beginnings.

XRP Earliest Trading Price CoinMarketCap
XRP Earliest Trading Price | CoinMarketCap

If an investor had committed $1,000 to XRP when it began trading, the individual would have procured 170,357 tokens at the $0.00587 price. Interestingly, at the end of 2013, these tokens would hold a value of $4,713, presenting returns of over $3,700 within four months.

However, if the investor held on, the worth of the tokens would have then plummeted to about $477 in July 2014, when XRP collapsed to its all-time low of $0.002802 amid a market downturn. Following this crash, XRP continued to trade below the opening price of $0.00587 until December 2014, when it recovered completely above $0.01.

Another drop occurred in 2015, and XRP consistently traded between $0.005 and $0.008 from 2015 to early 2017, with no clear direction during this period. Nonetheless, a decisive breakout occurred in March 2017, with XRP eventually crossing the $1 valuation for the first time in December 2017 and hitting $3.31 in January 2018.

How Much Would the $1,000 in XRP be Worth Today?

After years of sustained downtrend and underperformance, which some attribute to suppression mechanisms and the SEC lawsuit, XRP has again recovered above the $1 mark and now sits around $3.

Today, XRP changes hands at $3.3. At this price, the 170,357 tokens, procured with $1,000 in August 2013, would be worth $562,000. While XRP has not seen the same explosive growth as Bitcoin or Ethereum since their respective debuts, its overall trajectory has been upward since launch.

Comparison with Bitcoin

Notably, if the same investor had chosen to invest in Bitcoin at the time of XRP launch, they would have actually doubled their returns. Specifically, on Aug. 5, 2013, BTC traded for $100, and $1,000 would have amassed 10 BTC. Today, with Bitcoin changing hands at $116,684, the investment would be worth $1.16 million. This is $604,000 more than XRP returned.

XRP’s lower gains are largely due to its underperformance from 2018 to 2024, which most analysts have ascribed to the SEC lawsuit. Notably, it only started to recover from this predicament in November 2024 and has since outperformed the market.

Interestingly, for XRP to catch up to Bitcoin’s growth from August 2013, it would need to reach a price of $6.85 while BTC remains around the $116,000 mark. This would require a 107% increase from XRP’s current price and would make the 170,357 tokens worth about $1.16 million.

South Korea Aims To Revive Crypto Market With ETF Roadmap And Stablecoin Plans

0

In a major shift from its past crypto policies, South Korea is moving to bring spot ETFs and stablecoins into the heart of its financial system. With the government laying out a detailed plan, the country could see regulated crypto investment products hit the market as early as late 2025.

A Push Toward Legal Crypto ETFs

South Korea’s top financial regulator, the Financial Services Commission (FSC), submitted a new proposal this week outlining its plan to introduce spot crypto exchange-traded funds. The roadmap was handed to the Presidential Committee on Policy Planning and includes a framework for legal, regulated crypto ETFs, a big departure from the country’s previously cautious stance.

Under the roadmap, the FSC will prepare the legal and technical groundwork needed for these funds. That means building infrastructure for custody, pricing, operation, and fund management, as well as setting clear investor protection standards.

The government’s decision to support crypto ETFs comes just months after President Lee Jae-myung took office. Lee campaigned on a promise to legalize crypto ETFs and tighten investor safeguards. His pro-crypto stance marked a clear break from the past administration’s policies, which had banned crypto ETFs over concerns about market risk.

Since other major markets like the U.S. and Europe are already pushing forward with spot ETFs, South Korea’s move signals a desire to keep pace with global financial trends and to attract both retail and institutional investors back into the fold.

How This Could Change Crypto Access

Once the new rules take effect, investors in South Korea could soon gain a regulated way to buy and sell crypto through ETFs listed on local exchanges. That would offer a more familiar entry point for those still unsure about jumping directly into digital currencies.

And for those already active in the space, easier on-ramps are likely to follow. That includes guidance on how to buy Bitcoin with a credit card, a method becoming more common as regulators ease restrictions and payment providers catch up to demand. A regulated environment would likely boost consumer confidence in using more traditional payment methods to access crypto.

The FSC’s roadmap also aims to cut current trading fees, which hover around 0.05%. President Lee wants to reduce this to about 0.015%, with a focus on making crypto trading more affordable, especially for younger traders.

Stablecoins and Market Oversight

In addition to ETFs, the roadmap includes plans for a legal framework around Korean won-based stablecoins. These digital assets, pegged to the local currency, could be used for payments and remittances while keeping capital within South Korea. The move could help reduce reliance on offshore stablecoins like Tether or USDC, and give local firms a more regulated path to issue their own tokens. But the governor of the Bank of Korea mentioned that these should be issued by the central bank.

However, it’s not just about launching new products since the FSC is also pushing for stricter oversight. The commission wants tougher penalties for illegal market activity, including lifetime bans and steep fines for bad actors. Exchanges will face higher disclosure standards and will need to post transparent trading fees and listing rules. This part of the roadmap shows a clear focus on protecting investors without shutting down innovation.

Still Early, But the Direction Is Clear

Though the proposals are still in draft form, the message from regulators is loud and clear: the days of broad crypto restrictions in South Korea are fading. The FSC confirmed that none of the policies are final yet, and many will need approval from lawmakers before they can move forward. But even so, the shift is undeniable.

Industry analysts say the government is now following a similar path to other countries that have launched crypto ETFs. Risk assessment, custody rules, and monetary policy checks will all play a part in how the final rules are written. That means the pace could be slow, but steady.

The broader strategy is aimed at balancing two things: investor safety and global competitiveness. ETFs have already been approved in the U.S. since January 2024 and are gaining steam in the EU, so South Korea doesn’t want to be left behind.

A Growing Interest in Institutional Trading

Alongside consumer access, the roadmap also opens the door for institutional players. The FSC is reviewing phased approvals for large-scale crypto trading by banks and asset managers. If this goes through, it could inject a fresh wave of capital into the local market, especially if spot ETFs provide a bridge between traditional finance and crypto.

Here’s Timelines When Shiba Inu Could Reach $0.00008845 and Then $0.00045

The crypto market is gradually turning bullish again, and some investors are closely watching the performance of Shiba Inu.

Notably, SHIB has a rich history of massive price spikes. However, although it has been relatively quiet in recent times, some analysts, like Javon Marks, believe it may be warming up for another surprising price rally.

Amid this growing optimism, this article explores some widely forecasted timelines for Shiba Inu to reclaim historic price points such as $0.00008845 and $0.00045.

The Journey So Far: How SHIB Got to Where It Is

Notably, $0.00008845 remains the highest trading price Shiba Inu has ever reached. It hit this level on October 28, 2021, at the peak of that season’s bull run. According to the ecosystem project team, SHIB delivered an incredible 150,000,000% return during that period, turning modest investments into life-changing fortunes.

As with most sensational price surges, the price of Shiba Inu eventually plummeted, reaching its lowest post-bull-run point of $0.000005717 in June 2023. For the rest of that year, the coin mostly traded within a range full of zeros.

By 2024, Shiba Inu’s position had improved, having shed a zero, and began trading with four zeros, mostly avoiding a return to the five-zero range. A real turnaround emerged between the last weeks of February and the first week of March.

During that time, SHIB experienced a 5X surge, climbing from around $0.0000088 to reach $0.00004534 before cooling off. This marked Shiba Inu’s major price peak since its all-time high.

However, as in previous instances, Shiba Inu has since seen a significant decline and is currently trading at $0.00001290. Despite the discouraging price performance over the past year, several predictions suggest SHIB could still hit historic peak levels.

Timelines for Shiba Inu to Reach $0.00008845 and $0.00045

According to trading platform Changelly, Shiba Inu could break the $0.00008 level as early as next year, with a projected maximum price of $0.00008599.

By 2027, it expects Shiba Inu to have a minimum price of $0.00010398, far exceeding its current all-time high of $0.00008845.

As for the $0.00045 price level, Changelly sees SHIB attaining this level by 2031. Notably, Shiba Inu must grow by 3,388% from the current level to reach $0.00045.

Meanwhile, analysts at Telegaon are more conservative. They predict SHIB could take up to three years to re-enter the $0.00008 region.

Specifically, Telegaon suggests SHIB could hit $0.0000821 by 2028, with expectations that it will surpass its all-time high by the following year to set a new historical record at $0.0000918. As for the more ambitious price point of $0.00045, it placed a 10-year timeline.

ChatGPT and Grok Perspectives

According to the X platform AI Grok, Shiba Inu could potentially reach $0.00008845 by 2027 in a strong bull market with increased Shibarium adoption.

However, Grok argues the $0.00045 target is more speculative and only achievable by 2029–2030. It cites significant ecosystem growth, aggressive token burns, and favorable market conditions as potential factors fueling the surge.

$0.0001 SHIB Possible this Season

While most outlooks suggest multi-year timelines, independent market analyst Javon Marks believes SHIB could reach $0.000081 as early as this year or in early 2026. His long-standing peak price prediction for this cycle is $0.0001553.

Some other analysts in the crypto community also share this perspective.

Block CFO Says Bitcoin Can Be the Open Protocol That Powers the Internet

Block Inc. CFO Amrita Ahuja believes that Bitcoin can become the open protocol that powers the internet.

She argues that it would enable money to move at the speed of the internet and allow it to flow across jurisdictions with far greater efficiency. Ahuja shared this perspective while speaking on CNBC today, following the company’s Q2 earnings report.

She said the fintech giant has been making disciplined investments in Bitcoin for years, spanning buy/sell products, self-custody services, and mining initiatives. The company plans to roll out new mining chips in the second half of this year to help democratize the mining ecosystem.

Bitcoin Moving from Digital Gold to Everyday Currency

While Bitcoin is still widely viewed as digital gold, Ahuja sees it evolving into a true currency. She pointed to thousands of Square sellers already accepting BTC, suggesting that the shift toward everyday Bitcoin transactions is underway.

“It starts there,” she said of Bitcoin’s store-of-value role, “but it has the opportunity to move to currency.”

Notably, Block Inc. is among the leading public companies holding Bitcoin on its balance sheet. The firm currently holds 8,584 BTC worth $1 billion.

Strong Q2 Results

Beyond Bitcoin, Block posted a strong second quarter. It saw gross profit growth from 9% in Q1 to 14% in Q2, and achieved a record 22% adjusted operating income margin.

“We outperformed our guidance on gross profit. We also achieved our highest-ever quarterly adjusted operating income margin at 22%,” said Ahuja.

Notably, following this performance, shares rose as the company raised its outlook for the second half of the year. Ahuja attributed the momentum to faster product rollouts across the Square and Cash App ecosystems.

She highlighted innovations such as the new Square Handheld device, Bitcoin payment options for Square sellers, and new Cash App features such as Tap to Pay for businesses.

Cash App’s Expanding Ecosystem with BTC

The CFO also highlighted that Cash App has evolved far beyond its peer-to-peer roots. Specifically, it now processes $218 billion in payment volume and engages 26 million monthly debit card users.

Its commerce platform handles $183 billion annually, growing 16% year over year. Meanwhile, its banking services now reach 8 million customers, generating $250 in annualized revenue per user.

Importantly, Bitcoin remains a core growth pillar, with 8 million customers having bought or sold BTC through the app.
