Shiba Inu Announces First-Ever Election for Interim President and DAO Councils

0

The Shiba Inu ecosystem team has announced plans to transition to a fully decentralized network state by electing an interim president and DAO Councils.

Shytoshi Kusama, the pseudonymous leader of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, unveiled the initiative on Tuesday as the crypto project marked its fifth anniversary.

Shiba Inu First Election for Interim President

Kusama stated that Shiba Inu can evolve into an unprecedented force in crypto or even transform into a new project. To achieve this goal, Kusama emphasized the need to elect a visionary leader and DAO councils.

The upcoming election will see members of the Shiba Inu community elect an interim president and DAO councils that will oversee the broader ecosystem.

“The goal here is not to pick the most popular but the most aligned and responsible candidate,” he said.

According to Kusama, the Hounds Constitution, authored by him, will determine the process of the forthcoming election. The lead developer said he amended the constitution to guarantee a fair presidential election.

Before the official launch of “Shibizenship,” the ecosystem will select an interim president via an early DAO vote, who will oversee and coordinate the transition.

“At a later time, but no later than 4 months of Shibzenship, the President should be ratified according to the Hounds Constitution by the various branches and following standard constitution principles,” Kusama remarked.

Voting Process

Per the announcement, any member of the Shiba Inu community can run for interim president. Interested participants are to submit their profiles so that voters can learn about them.

A screening process will follow, which will select the top 10 nominees. The chosen candidate will feature in a live debate, sharing their visions and stating why they should be elected.

Afterward, the community will hold another vote to select the top three candidates. A final vote will be held one week after the debate to choose the interim president. Notably, the winning candidate must pass the foundation’s KYC and comply with a non-disclosure agreement.

Other Election Details

Shiba Inu community members can vote for their preferred candidate using any of the ecosystem tokens, such as SHIB, BONE, TREAT, and LEASH. Each token is equivalent to one vote.

The interim president will be tasked with launching the first-ever multi-DAO Congress, comprising four DAO councils.

Additionally, the president will also oversee the administrative and technical transition of Shiba Inu’s infrastructure, in line with the guidelines outlined in the Shib Paper. Lastly, the president will be the steward of the multi-billion-dollar Shiba Inu ecosystem.

The election timetable has not yet been unveiled. Kusama disclosed that the team will soon share the details. Notably, the development comes several months after Kusama disclosed stepping down as the visionary leader of the Shiba Inu project.

Top Developer Reacts

The upcoming election has elicited reactions among Shiba Inu community members, with Shibarium developer Kaal Dhairya sharing his opinion about the initiative. According to Kaal, Shiba Inu was designed to foster true decentralization. This ensures that no single entity has significant control over the ecosystem.

While he acknowledged the growing demand to break up the ecosystem into bits, Kaal called on the community to embrace a broader perspective. He stated that the beauty of Shiba Inu lies in its multi-token system.

In his view, the ecosystem tokens complement each other. He referred to the upcoming election as the foremost step toward embracing the decentralized vision of Shiba Inu.

Here’s Why XRP May Be on the Verge of a Deeper Correction

0

Despite multiple market commentators suggesting XRP could be aiming for a bullish reversal, one analyst insists the correction could continue.

For context, XRP surged to a new yearly high of $3.66 weeks back before the broader crypto market slipped into a correction. The drop, driven mainly by heavy selling on Korea’s largest exchange, Upbit, pushed XRP below the $3 price mark.

Currently, it trades at around $2.96, down over 19% from the $3.66 peak. Now, while some traders believe the dip could mark the beginning of a recovery, others expect the price to fall even further before stabilizing.

Martinez Highlights Signs the Correction Could Continue

Market analyst Ali Martinez is one such analyst who believes the correction isn’t over yet. In a recent thread, he highlighted several technical and on-chain indicators that suggest XRP might still head lower.

First, Martinez spotlighted the Tom DeMark (TD) Sequential indicator, which gave a sell signal on XRP’s 3-day chart right at the recent peak. Martinez shared this analysis on Aug. 3, and since then, XRP has steadily pulled back. The analyst sees this as a direct response to that signal.

Speaking further, Martinez called attention to accumulation zones using on-chain data. While XRP held above $3 for a while, he believes the $2.80 range now acts as only a temporary cushion. He noted this in another Aug. 3 post, saying that solid support doesn’t kick in until below $2.48. To him, this zone will be important if XRP continues to fall.

Adding to the pressure, Martinez highlighted a drop in whale holdings. On Aug. 2, he reported that large investors had dumped over 710 million XRP within just 24 hours. This massive selloff added fuel to the ongoing correction, indicating a loss of confidence among large investors.

Meanwhile, on Aug. 3, Martinez also pointed out another troubling signal, as the MVRV ratio recently flashed a death cross. This indicator often shows when an asset has moved into overvalued territory and could face deeper corrections. He believes this confirms his view that XRP might still have more room to fall.

Levels XRP Needs to Reclaim to Flip Bullish

However, while Martinez remains cautious, other analysts see a possible recovery ahead if the price can reclaim some important levels. Dom, another well-followed trader, noted that XRP bounced from the zone he expected, calling it a healthy sign.

Nonetheless, he stressed that the bulls need to turn $3 back into strong support. According to Dom, XRP must also break and hold above $3.12 to cancel the current downtrend and shift back into a bullish setup.

In addition, EGRAG Crypto looked at XRP’s short-term behavior and spotted some early signs of strength. He noted that XRP has managed to close several candles above the $3 mark, which he described as an important psychological level.

Notably, although the wicks showed some selling pressure, the full candle bodies stayed above $3. Essentially, this suggests the bulls aren’t backing down yet.

Still, EGRAG warned that XRP might dip briefly into the $2.96 to $2.93 range. He stressed that it is important to hold above $2.80, suggesting that dropping below that level would weaken the bullish case.

According to EGRAG, if XRP can stay above this line and push past $3.185, it could aim for $3.25 next. The market analyst added that closing above $3.33 and $3.45 could open the door to a new all-time high.

Galaxy Digital Holds $34 Million in XRP, New SEC Filing Confirms

The Q2 2025 report from Galaxy Digital shows notable recovery and strategic expansion into XRP.

On Tuesday, Galaxy Digital Inc. confirmed it holds $34.4 million worth of XRP, according to its latest SEC filing for the quarter ended June 30, 2025. This marks the first time XRP has appeared in the company’s digital asset holdings.

Its financial report for December 2024 showed no XRP holdings. However, it did report significant holdings in Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), USDC, Solana (SOL), Uniswap (UNI), and Celestia (TIA).

XRP Makes Notable Entry into Galaxy Portfolio

XRP has made a notable entry into Galaxy’s crypto asset portfolio within just six months. By the end of the second quarter of 2025, the company held 15.39 million XRP, with a historical cost basis of $33.6 million. This suggests the firm acquired the tokens at $2.18 per XRP.

As of the end of June, the company valued its XRP holdings at $34.4 million. Considering XRP’s price performance in July, when it reached $3.66, Galaxy’s holdings peaked at a value of $56.31 million.

However, at press time, with XRP trading at $2.93, its holdings are worth around $45 million. This is a significant improvement from the figures reported at the end of last month.

Galaxy Increases Bitcoin Holdings by 4,272 Coins

Notably, Galaxy Digital’s total digital assets surged to $3.56 billion in carrying value, up from $2.93 billion at the end of December 2024.

Bitcoin remains Galaxy’s largest position. The company increased its holdings from 13,704 BTC in Q1 to 17,102 BTC in Q2, adding 4,272 BTC during the quarter. At a market value of roughly $114,167 per BTC, Galaxy’s Bitcoin position is worth approximately $1.95 billion.

USDC stablecoin comes next with $263 million. The company also holds Ethereum, with $225 million worth of tokens, and Solana worth $170 million. Other holdings (including HYPE and USDG) are valued at over $310 million.

DeFi Exposure

The filing also revealed that as of the end of June, 34% of Galaxy’s digital assets were tied to protocols associated with Coinbase, 15% with Aave, and 13% with Kamino. This reflects an adjustment from December 2024, when 41% of assets were linked to Sky DAO (MakerDAO), 18% to Coinbase, and 10% to Aave.

Net Income Rebounds to $30.7 Million

Meanwhile, Galaxy reported a net income of $30.7 million for Q2 2025, a dramatic reversal from the $295 million loss posted in Q1. The rebound was driven by gains in balance sheet holdings and robust activity in the Global Markets division. In its report, Galaxy cited:

  • $228 million in adjusted gross profit from its Treasury and Corporate segment
  • $211 million in adjusted EBITDA
  • $71.4 million in digital asset gross profit, up by 10% quarter-over-quarter

Mike Novogratz, founder and CEO of Galaxy, expressed strong enthusiasm about the company’s performance. He noted that July was, by all accounts, their best month yet, with all business segments beginning to operate at full strength.

China Warns of Security Risks From Global Iris Scan Collection Linked to Crypto Rewards

0

China’s Ministry of State Security (MSS) has issued a public warning about a foreign initiative offering crypto in exchange for users’ iris scans, with the biometric data then reportedly transferred overseas.

The ministry said such activities could pose serious risks to personal information security and even national security. The warning was posted on the MSS’s official WeChat account on Wednesday.

It comes amid the rapid adoption of biometric technologies. Specifically, these technologies include facial, fingerprint, and iris recognition. While these methods offer convenience and precision, the MSS stressed that their widespread use also creates opportunities for cyber‑espionage and criminal exploitation.

Biometric Data at Risk

According to the MSS, foreign intelligence agencies have sought to obtain biometric data from Chinese citizens to forge false identities. With these false identities, they aim to infiltrate sensitive workplaces and access classified information. The ministry urged the public to remain vigilant about such threats.

Corporate Lapses Highlighted

In one example, a foreign company’s fingerprint payment system was directly linked to its corporate database. Weak security protections allowed hackers to repeatedly breach the system, leading to the theft of vast amounts of personal information. MSS said this shows how inadequate corporate safeguards can expose users to risk.

Iris Scans and Cryptocurrency Project Under Scrutiny

Iris patterns, noted for their stability and difficulty to replicate, are often used for high-level security access. MSS warned that these qualities make iris data valuable to criminals, with some organizations allegedly using deceptive methods to collect such information for identity theft or security breaches.

The ministry also described a case in which a foreign project offered cryptocurrency tokens in return for iris scans. In this case, the data was reportedly sent overseas.

The MSS did not identify the entity. However, its description closely matches Worldcoin, a global identity initiative cofounded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

Worldcoin has faced regulatory scrutiny in Germany, France, and Kenya, where authorities have questioned whether participants fully understood the implications of sharing their biometric data and raised concerns over data security and potential surveillance uses.

Public Urged to Stay Vigilant

The MSS advised citizens to carefully review how biometric service providers store and process data, read privacy policies, and reject requests for excessive or unnecessary information. It stated that informed vigilance is essential to prevent misuse of personal identifiers.

Veteran Trader Brandt Warns That Those Who Believe Bitcoin Will Fix Their Lives Will Be Disappointed

0

A veteran trader ignited fresh controversy, declaring Bitcoin is “just an asset” and warning that those who believe it will solve all their problems will be greatly disappointed.

Peter Brandt’s post on X, suggesting people with a certain ideology about Bitcoin to “get a life,” triggered a flurry of responses, with some defending Bitcoin as more than a financial tool.

Peter Brandt Challenges Emotional Ties to Bitcoin

Brandt expressed frustration with the way some people attach personal or ideological hopes to Bitcoin. His message aimed at those who see Bitcoin as more than a tool for investment, but rather as a symbol of freedom or change.

Notably, this is not the first time the financial expert has drawn this warning. In December, Brandt pointed out that Bitcoin’s ability to generate massive returns has declined sharply over the years.

He warned that younger investors hoping to get rich from the asset may be disappointed, as past bull cycles show a clear drop in gains. While he still sees Bitcoin as a hedge against fiat currencies, Brandt believes its days of exponential growth are likely behind it.

Michael Saylor and Other Community Members Defend Bitcoin’s Deeper Meaning

However, several members of the crypto community disagreed with Brandt’s commentary. For instance, Strategy chairman Michael Saylor described Bitcoin as more than just a financial asset. He stressed its role as a circulating system built on protocol and guided by a core ideology.

Meanwhile, a commenter, Marcelo Cardenal, was among those who described Bitcoin as more than just a financial tool, framing it as part of a broader mindset centered on personal accountability and financial freedom.

Also, a pseudonymous commenter, Chicago Hodl, argued that the traditional fiat system operates much like a belief system itself, and that Bitcoin offers an alternative to centralized monetary control.

Matt, another contributor to the discussion, suggested that Bitcoin represents a kind of monetary reformation. Meanwhile, Robby highlighted how deeply belief-driven systems, including religion, can influence people, and suggested that Bitcoin’s future, with price reaching $100 million, might depend on similar collective conviction.

Peter Brandt Predicted Bitcoin’s Current Move Since January

Notably, back in January, Brandt predicted that Bitcoin would likely face its next major correction in August, based on historical price patterns.

So far, his forecast appears to be playing out. After reaching a new all-time high in July, Bitcoin has since pulled back and is now trading below that peak at $113,919, aligning with the timeframe Brandt outlined earlier this year.

Last month, however, Brandt turned bullish on Bitcoin, predicting further upside after the crypto asset broke above an expanding inverted triangle pattern. Brandt forecasted a continued climb, with targets at $120,956 and $134,886.

Meanwhile, the first target was breached on July 14 when Bitcoin traded above $123,000, its all-time high. Notably, Brandt still maintained his long-standing prediction of a $150,000 peak possibly arriving by August, though he warns that downside risks remain.

Cardano Founder Amazed as 11,000 Addresses Across 8 Blockchains Claim 250M NIGHT Tokens Within Hours

0

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has taken to X to celebrate the strong user participation in the ongoing Midnight’s Glacier Drop.

The Cardano founder expressed amazement at the progress of the Glacier Drop, which has seen a high level of user participation. He pointed out that there are already 11,000 redemptions for 250 million NIGHT tokens since the Glacier Drop launched.

This suggests that at least 11,000 addresses across eight blockchains, including Cardano and XRPL, have collectively claimed 250 million NIGHT tokens so far, showing massive participation in the first stage of Midnight’s airdrop.

Since the claim portal went live, Hoskinson has been updating the crypto community about the claim progress. Three hours after the Glacier Drop launch, he stated that 4,300 blockchain addresses had claimed 77.04 million NIGHT tokens.

In the hours leading up to press time, the Cardano founder suggested that participation had soared, with 11,000 addresses claiming 250 million tokens.

Cardano Team Deploying Fix for Ledger Users

Notably, users also took to X to share their experience in the Glacier Drop. Some said the process worked out nicely for them and have already claimed their tokens.

However, others, especially eligible Cardano community members using Ledger wallets, are still having difficulty claiming NIGHT. The Midnight Foundation team and Hoskinson have already identified the issue, which stems from Ledger’s implementation of CIP-8 message signing.

According to Hoskinson, Ledger’s protocol currently supports message signing of only 31 bytes, while the payload for the Glacier Drop is approximately 251 bytes—far exceeding Ledger’s current firmware limitations.

Despite reaching out to Ledger to update its firmware last month, Hoskinson said the team behind the hardware wallet has yet to provide a timeline for the update. He confirmed that the Cardano team is deploying a “hack” that will enable eligible Cardano users to claim their NIGHT tokens.

“If you are one of the impacted people, then come back towards the end of the month and try again,” Hoskinson wrote.

Midnight Airdrop

As stated earlier, the Glacier Drop, which marks the first phase of the Midnight token airdrop, will be live for two months. This phase is expected to close on October 4 at 13:00 (UTC).

Once it ends, the second phase (Scavenger Mine) will commence immediately and run for 30 days. The Scavenger Mine will distribute NIGHT to users as rewards for completing computational tasks.

A third claim phase, dubbed Lost-and-Found, will allow eligible users of the Glacier Drop to claim only a fraction of their initial allocation. It is scheduled to go live after Midnight’s mainnet launch and will remain open for over four years. Any unclaimed tokens after the third phase will be allocated to the Midnight treasury.

Although users can now claim their NIGHT allocations, they will gradually receive the tokens in the destination address during an upcoming redemption period. NIGHT tokens will be unlocked in batches throughout a 12-month redemption period.

Here’s Why Low XRP Price Cannot Power the Tokenized Financial Market Being Built

0

Versan Aljarrah, host of the Black Swan Capitalist, has insisted that XRP price would need to rise significantly to provide the necessary liquidity for the tokenization market.

His recent comments on this build on the sentiment that XRP will power the movement of assets across the growing tokenization market, projected to reach trillions in the coming years. Notably, the original XRPL architects built the platform for payments, with XRP’s major utility being its ability to serve as a bridge asset.

Despite Its Attractive Features, XRP Price Too Low to Power the Tokenization Market

Specifically, with its speed, low transaction cost, and impeccable settlement time, XRP has positioned itself as the perfect candidate for moving assets across borders. Ripple leveraged the token for its On-Demand Liquidity (now Ripple Payments), and it has served its purpose without hassle for years.

As a result, several community commentators have suggested that XRP could be the token the global financial scene needs to move money, especially across borders, as the traditional system features multiple inefficiencies. Notably, Teucrium CEO also recently suggested that Ripple could “hopefully” replace SWIFT.

However, Versan Aljarrah said in his latest commentary that it’s not merely about XRP powering cross-border payments to remove the current inefficiencies, like higher cost and slow speed. According to him, besides the prospect of a faster system, the parties involved would require sufficient liquidity.

Aljarrah mentioned that the growing tokenization market, teased by business executives such as BlackRock’s Larry Fink and Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev, would require a bridge asset with high value. He insisted that a low XRP price cannot meet that amount of demand.

XRP Price Would Need to Rise to Provide Sufficient Liquidity

For context, XRP, which currently trades for $2.91, has a market cap of $172.3 billion and a fully diluted valuation of $290 billion, considering its total supply of about 99 billion tokens. Aljarrah’s commentary suggests that an asset with a valuation of about $290 billion will not be enough to provide liquidity for asset movements.

Notably, XRP and the XRPL are already making an appearance in discussions around the growing tokenization market. For instance, Bitwise recently suggested that buying XRP is a clean way to invest in tokenization. Also, Ripple CTO David Schwartz previously claimed the XRPL could become the go-to platform for RWA tokenization.

If this projection materializes and XRP grows to power the movement of tokenized real-world assets on-chain, a $290 billion valuation will not be enough. Specifically, a report from Ripple and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) revealed that the real-world assets tokenization market stood at a $600 billion valuation in April 2025, and could hit $18.9 trillion in 2033.

Moreover, Standard Chartered predicted earlier this year that the market could hit $30 trillion by 2034. Notably, for XRP to provide sufficient liquidity for a $30 trillion market, its valuation would have to increase substantially.

Nonetheless, XRP is pre-mined, indicating that the system cannot create more tokens. As a result, the only avenue through which its valuation could rise is with a spike in price. This is one of the reasons behind price projections of a possible run to $100 and $1,000.

Expert Predicts XRP Could Become Number 1 Crypto for Employee Income Distributions in U.S.

Community figure Luis Delgado, aka Del Crxpto, predicts that XRP will soon become the leading crypto asset in the U.S. for employee income distributions.

According to him, XRP is set to power a future where workers receive salaries directly in the digital asset.

The prediction aligns with the widespread interest in XRP’s utility as a fast, low-cost payment solution, which is appealing for payroll integration. As blockchain adoption deepens across corporate America, Del Crxpto believes XRP could lead the shift toward crypto-based compensation.

Push for Crypto Like XRP in Corporate America

Indeed, in recent times, the U.S. administration has made several positive efforts toward more pronounced crypto integration.

For instance, the U.S. SEC last week launched Project Crypto, an initiative to move all U.S. financial markets on-chain. SEC Chair Paul Atkins said the effort seeks to modernize outdated regulations, support tokenization, enable crypto custody and trading, and attract innovation back to the U.S.

The initiative follows broader government interest in blockchain. The White House last month released a crypto report, which discusses establishing a Bitcoin and crypto reserve. In July, the government passed a landmark regulation on stablecoins.

These pro-crypto initiatives have triggered speculation about even deeper integration with XRP, given its U.S. origin and utility.

Previously, discussions in the XRP community suggested the U.S. could leverage Ripple’s XRP held in escrow as a reserve to potentially offset national debt. However, this idea has been dismissed as unfeasible.

While speculation on banking integration remains, Delgado is now predicting a future where XRP becomes the top crypto asset for payroll services in the U.S.

Where XRP Salary Payments Already Exist

While the idea of getting paid in crypto is still emerging, some companies have already begun offering this option.

Platforms like Coinbase allow U.S. users to deposit their paychecks and instantly convert them into cryptocurrencies like XRP.

Deel, a global payroll platform for remote workers, supports crypto withdrawals, including XRP. Bitwage is another service known for its early role in promoting crypto payroll.

These developments signal that XRP-based income distribution is already taking shape, although not yet at the government level.

Government Officials Leading by Example

Notably, the push for crypto salaries isn’t limited to the private sector. Prominent U.S. government figures have also embraced digital assets for personal income.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams famously pledged to receive his first three paychecks in Bitcoin to show support for innovation in the financial sector. Similarly, Francis Suarez, the Mayor of Miami, opted to receive his salary in Bitcoin in 2022.

Crypto Payment Globally

In March, Brazil introduced a bill to legalize salary remuneration in Bitcoin. Previously, in 2024, a UAE court recognized salary payment in crypto as a valid means of compensation.

These developments reinforce the idea that crypto payrolls are gaining mainstream legitimacy, even at the government level.

Here Is XRP Price If It Powers Cross-Border Property Transactions

0

With the real estate sector recently seeing impressive volume growth, what could XRP price rise to if it powered cross-border property transactions?

Currently, XRP trades at $2.91, with a market value of $172.8 billion. It has jumped more than 38% this year despite a recent pullback and soared nearly 480% since November 2024.

Could XRP Penetrate the Real Estate Sector?

However, even with those impressive gains, many analysts still argue that XRP remains undervalued. To make this argument, they typically cite its growing role as a global payment bridge. Interestingly, one area where XRP could make a major impact is the real estate industry, especially in handling cross-border property deals.

However, it remains uncertain how much a full penetration of this sector could impact XRP’s price. As a result, we recently asked ChatGPT for a hypothetical price assessment for XRP if it powered the global real estate market.

For context, last year, property transactions across both residential and commercial markets totaled $703 billion. This figure marked a 14% rise from 2023 and included activity from every major region.

Specifically, the Americas led with $372 billion, while EMEA reached $199 billion and the Asia-Pacific posted $131 billion. Notably, momentum picked up toward the end of the year, especially in the fourth quarter, when deal volume climbed to $232 billion.

Based on this data, ChatGPT built a model using the idea that XRP could act as both a bridge asset and a store of value. In this setup, all $703 billion in property deals would move through XRP.

XRP Price if It Powers Cross-Border Property Transactions

Investors, real estate companies, and financial institutions would hold XRP, either briefly or for longer periods, to make transactions faster and more efficient. Notably, such a setup would demand deep liquidity and give XRP a more stable role in settlement systems.

XRP Value Flow Assumption ChatGPT
XRP Value Flow Assumption | ChatGPT

Afterward, ChatGPT then used a capital multiplier to project XRP’s market cap under this scenario. For context, in crypto markets, new capital entering an asset often pushes its total value up far more than the raw amount invested, especially when demand rises and liquidity stays limited.

Multipliers like this tend to range between 5x and 15x, but could surge to hundreds during strong bull markets, depending on liquidity. ChatGPT chose a 10x multiplier to model a highly optimistic outcome.

Using that approach, the chatbot multiplied the $703 billion in real estate transactions by ten, which gave a projected XRP market cap of $7.03 trillion. With XRP’s current circulating supply of 59.3 billion tokens, this results in a hypothetical XRP price of $118.55.

XRP Price if It Powers Property Transactions ChatGPT
XRP Price if It Powers Property Transactions | ChatGPT

For a more conservative scenario, ChatGPT also ran the same model with a 5x multiplier. Notably, this alternative calculation produced a market cap of $3.515 trillion and a token price of $59.27. Interestingly, even in this more modest scenario, XRP’s price would jump more than 20 times its current value.

ChatGPT stressed that the prospect of XRP fully taking over global property transactions remains unlikely anytime soon. However, if XRP grabs even 5% to 10% of this market, its price could easily climb into the $6 to $12 range.

BlackRock Dumps $664M in Bitcoin and Ethereum Amid ETF Outflows

0

BlackRock has sold Bitcoin and Ethereum worth a combined $664 million amid recent ETF outflows that have dominated the market.

Notably, these outflows come on the back of the ongoing price struggles that have plagued the crypto market, with Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) shedding off some of the gains from the previous weeks. Specifically, BTC is down over 2% today, while ETH has collapsed by a more substantial 4% within the same period.

BlackRock Dumps $664M in Bitcoin and Ethereum

Amid this downtrend, blockchain tracking resource Lookonchain confirmed that BlackRock had sold millions worth of BTC and ETH tokens from its ETF products. Particularly, the tracking platform revealed that BlackRock moved 101,975 ETH worth $372 million and 2,544 BTC valued at $292 million to Coinbase Prime hours ago.

On-chain data provided by Arkham Intelligence indicates that the asset manager moved the Ethereum tokens over multiple batches of 10,000 ETH, while it transferred the Bitcoin over batches of 300 BTC transactions. These movements coincide with the outflows recorded by BlackRock ETFs over the past 24 hours.

BlackRock’s IBIT and ETHA Record Bearish Flows

Notably, the BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) saw an outflow of $292 million worth of Bitcoin yesterday, reflecting the value of the BTC moved by BlackRock hours ago. Meanwhile, the BlackRock iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) observed a much higher net outflow figure of $374 million.

For perspective, the $374 million outflow from yesterday marked the BlackRock Ethereum ETF’s largest daily net outflow since its launch last July. This figure beat the previous record of $103.68 million from Dec. 20, 2024, by up to 260%. Moreover, it has already surpassed the combined outflows recorded throughout 2025 before today.

Meanwhile, the $292 million in Bitcoin outflow from yesterday only represents the IBIT’s fourth-largest outflow since launch. It is also the largest outflow over the past two months.

Notably, BlackRock’s outflows contributed massively to the underperformance of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs yesterday. For instance, the Bitcoin ETF market saw cumulative outflows of $333.19 million on Aug. 4, with BlackRock’s IBIT accounting for $292 million. Also, Ethereum ETFs recorded $465 million in outflows, and BlackRock’s ETHA accounted for $394 million.

Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs Seeing Impressive YTD Inflows

However, despite these outflows, both the Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF markets are seeing impressive inflows year-to-date due to their strong performances since the second quarter, after some struggles in March, where the BTC ETFs observed $767 million in outflows, their worst-performing month, and the ETH ETFs saw $403 million worth of outflows.

Currently, Bitcoin ETFs still boast a massive $147.96 billion in net assets, with BlackRock’s IBIT accounting for $84.82 billion, about 57% of the total. Meanwhile, Ethereum ETFs hold up to $20.47 billion worth of ETH as net assets, and BlackRock’s ETHA makes up $10.76 billion, representing 52% of the total figure.
