XRP Price Shows Holders Don’t Care About Judge Torres Rejecting Ripple-SEC Motion: Analyst

Despite the recent court ruling against Ripple’s joint motion with the SEC, the XRP price has shown remarkable resilience.

According to XRP YouTuber Moon Lambo, the price action suggests that holders remain confident in the token’s long-term prospects.

Minimal Price Impact After Negative News

When news broke Thursday morning that U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres denied Ripple and the SEC’s request to vacate a permanent injunction and reduce Ripple’s penalty, the price of XRP was just above $2.15. The market responded with a mild sell-off, dipping gradually to a low of about $2.09. This was a mere 2.7% drop.

Analyst Moon Lambo noted that the XRP price decline was steady rather than sudden, showing no signs of panic selling or a “cliff drop.”

According to his analysis, the downward move unfolded slowly between 8:15 AM and 11:50 AM Central Time, with no mass exodus of holders.

XRP Price Recovers, “Holders Don’t Care”

In the three hours following the dip, XRP’s price rebounded to approximately $2.12, regaining much of the initial loss. According to Moon Lambo, this recovery suggests that nearly all XRP holders understand the court’s ruling does not fundamentally impact the XRP’s value or future.

He concluded emphatically that XRP investors simply no longer care about Ripple’s legal developments.

In effect, the restrained market reaction highlights a growing maturity and conviction among XRP investors, who appear to view the legal saga as noise rather than a threat to the asset.

Strong Holder Confidence

Community figures and Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer, Stuart Alderoty, have reiterated that the ongoing case no longer concerns XRP itself. Notably, XRP’s involvement ended in 2023, when Judge Torres declared it a non-security. The SEC did not challenge this ruling.

Now, the remaining issues involve Ripple’s corporate sales of XRP. While the SEC agreed to withdraw its appeal, Ripple is seeking a reduced fine and the lifting of the injunction before fully settling the case, a request the judge has refused to grant.

Meanwhile, XRP holders remain confident that the token’s utility and adoption will continue beyond the courtroom drama. This is already playing out, as company after company announce plans for XRP treasuries, with disclosed holdings reaching $1 billion. Additionally, multiple prominent asset managers are pursuing spot ETFs that would directly invest in XRP.

As of press time, XRP price is trading at $2.09, showing a 4.5% daily loss — the worst among the top-ranked crypto assets. Notably, this dip aligns with a broader market sell-off over the past 24 hours. Bitcoin has fallen to $106K after trading near $108K the previous day.

Bitcoin Rebound Above $100K Not Driven by Fundamentals, On-Chain Data Shows

The recent Bitcoin surge back above the $100,000 mark may be due to speculative leverage rather than organic spot demand, according to new on-chain data.

Analytic platform Glassnode raised concerns about the rally’s sustainability, suggesting that speculative trading, not fundamental buying, is behind the move.

Leverage, Not Organic Demand, Pushed Bitcoin Higher

Earlier this month, Bitcoin briefly dipped below $100K for the first time in 12 weeks. However, it quickly rebounded, reaching $108,300 before undergoing a new correction. In a detailed report analyzing current market trends, Glassnode highlighted key factors driving this volatility.

One notable observation was that Bitcoin futures volume remained elevated during the recent surge. This indicates that short-term holders and active traders were significantly involved. However, this activity came with a caveat: a noticeable decline in momentum.

Specifically, futures volume has been trending downward for several weeks, suggesting fatigue in the derivatives market. While leverage-driven trading still dominates, the intensity of this activity has declined compared to historical levels.

Image

More importantly, both funding rates and the 3-month rolling futures basis, key indicators of bullish sentiment, have also been falling. This decline suggests a move toward less aggressive long positioning.

Spot Volume Also Dipping

In contrast to previous rallies in Q2 2025 and Q4 2024, Bitcoin’s recent move was not accompanied by a surge in spot market activity. At its peak of $111,900 in May, spot volume remained relatively subdued, at around $7.7 billion, well below the previous cycle highs that exceeded $20 billion.

This divergence highlights a lack of new capital entering the market from long-term holders or retail investors. Glassnode suggests that this may be due to investor hesitation, which strengthens the case for consolidation rather than continued upward momentum.

What Does It Mean for Bitcoin’s Uptrend?

As the futures market contributed to price increases, the quality of participation appears weaker than earlier in the cycle. Traders remain engaged but with less conviction and greater caution. Notably, the drop in spot demand and the decline in funding rates highlight a market structure that is vulnerable to correction.

In essence, the current setup suggests Bitcoin’s recent highs are less about renewed belief in its fundamentals and more about leveraged positioning. It’s a sign that the market may require a reset before its next major move.

Institutional Buying Paints a Mixed Picture

Interestingly, the on-chain data contrasts with recent developments in institutional adoption. More companies than ever are announcing new Bitcoin acquisitions.

This week alone, firms such as MicroStrategy, Metaplanet, and ProCap BTC acquired $1 billion in BTC. Additionally, Bitcoin ETFs purchased over $1.5 billion worth of BTC during the same period.

Amid this institutional buying spree, Glassnode now reports that the amount of Bitcoin readily available for acquisition has dropped to just 7 million BTC, indicating that around 14 million BTC are held by long-term investors.

This buying pressure could support further price appreciation, even though the risk of a short-term correction remains.

As of press time, Bitcoin is trading at $106,554, down 0.9% on the day.

Hackers Steal Over $2B From Crypto Market in H1 2025: Report

0

Bad actors siphoned at least $2 billion from the crypto market in the first half of 2025, marking the largest theft ever recorded in the industry.

Since the start of the year, the cryptocurrency market has experienced several positive developments, including increasing institutional interest in cryptocurrencies and the Trump administration’s push for regulatory clarity in the sector.

However, the industry also had its fair share of negative incidents, particularly in crypto theft, which spiked tremendously in the first half of the year.

$2.1B Stolen in 75 Crypto Hacks

Leading blockchain intelligence company TRM Labs reported that malicious actors stole $2.1 billion across 75 separate exploits within the first six months of 2025.

The total amount siphoned in the first half of the year represents a 10% spike from the $2 billion stolen in H1 2022. With six months left before the year ends, the amount stolen this year nearly equals the $2.2 billion stolen in the whole of 2024.

Bybit Suffers Biggest Loss

Notably, the attack on Bybit, which resulted in losses totaling $1.5 billion, accounts for over 70% of the $2.1 billion stolen from the market this year. As previously reported, the FBI and crypto sleuths, including TRM, linked the Bybit hack to North Korean threat actors.

According to the latest report, North Korea–linked hackers were responsible for $1.6 billion of the $2.1 billion stolen in the first half of 2025.

Furthermore, the report also sheds light on another state-sponsored hacking incident recorded in H1 2025.

TRM claims that Predatory Sparrow, a hacking group affiliated with Israel, hacked Iran’s largest crypto exchange, Nobitex, for $90 million.

Following the hack, which occurred during the peak of the Israel-Iran war, Predatory Sparrow sent the funds to unspendable vanity addresses, suggesting the motive was not financial gain.

Hack Techniques and Safety Requirements

Meanwhile, the report noted that approximately 80% of the stolen funds were taken through infrastructure attacks. Specifically, it cited front-end breaches, as well as private key and seed phrase compromises, as the primary techniques used. Additionally, protocol exploits accounted for 12% of all recorded hacks in the first half of 2025.

Amid the spike in crypto heists observed in H1 2025, TRM Labs emphasizes the need to reinforce fundamental security measures, including enabling multi-factor authentication, utilizing cold storage for large crypto reserves, and conducting regular third-party audits.

Here’s Why the Altcoin Season May be Coming up Soon, According to CryptoQuant Data

0

Crypto analysts are at odds over the proximity of the altcoin season, as Bitcoin’s market dominance continues to show strength.

Bitcoin’s dominance trades at 65.80%, a level last seen in January 2021. Notably, BTC’s market share has continued to rise in tandem with its price. Nonetheless, recent analyses suggest a trend shift could be on the horizon. Multiple market watchers have identified possible catalysts for the emergence of the widely anticipated altcoin season.

Altcoin Season On the Horizon

Verified CryptoQuant author Axel Adler shared in a post today that the crypto market is on the cusp of experiencing another altcoin season. He cited the rapidly trimming altcoin balance on exchanges as an indicator of this bullish market phase.

For perspective, he noted that the average monthly exchange flow for altcoins has decreased to $1.6 billion, which is below the annual average of $2.5 billion. As insignificant as this may sound, Adler emphasized that it depicts asset consolidation and an uptick in accumulation among crypto investors.

Remarkably, this highlights an optimism that altcoins can still perform optimally this bull cycle and has historically preceded an altcoin season. Notably, an accompanying chart further identifies the significance of this reserve drop, with Adler noting that altcoins tend to rally after each event.

Altcoin Average Monthly Exchange Flow/CryptoQuant

Context for Analysis

Further analysis with top altcoins Ethereum and Solana confirms this narrative. For instance, altcoin supply dropped below $1.6 billion in January 2023, sparking a 32% and 139% uptick in ETH and SOL’s prices, respectively.

Another notable occurrence was in October, where Ethereum increased 8% and extended its gains until its March 2024 peak of $4,092. Solana also rallied 80% that month and sustained the momentum until its peak of $210 five months later.

Meanwhile, the last time it happened before this was between August and September 2024. ETH consolidated, and SOL appreciated 10% before the famous November broader market explosion, further fueled by Donald Trump’s election victory.

Citing these data, Alder suggested that this drop in exchange flow could usher in another altcoin rally. Moreover, analyst Michael van de Poppe also supports this sentiment, but with a different catalyst in mind.

In a parallel analysis, he cited gold’s recent underperformance as a possible positive for altcoins. He noted that it was great news, as the sideways trend could prompt investors to consider diversifying into other assets, including altcoins.

Top Analyst Issues Cautionary Update

Meanwhile, Rekt Capital has warned of a contrary situation as Bitcoin’s dominance shows no signs of weakness. He noted that after BTC’s dominance successfully retested the resistance-turned-support area of 64%, the indicator could record further upside.

According to him, history suggests that there could be no stopping Bitcoin’s dominance before 71%. An accompanying chart shows that BTC’s market share typically rallies to a multi-year resistance at 73% from the current level, as seen in the previous two occasions.

Bitcoin Dominance Trend/Rekt Capital

As a result, the “altcoin season” party might continue to wait for a clear sign of weakness in Bitcoin dominance. In the meantime, the altcoin market cap (TOTAL2) trades at $1.1 trillion.

How Could Bitcoin React as US Core Inflation Comes in Hotter Than Expected

0

Traders are now watching Bitcoin and the broader crypto market as fresh inflation data triggers questions about where U.S. monetary policy is headed next.

The latest report shows that Core PCE, the Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of underlying inflation, rose by 0.2% in May, coming in slightly above the 0.1% economists had predicted. Notably, on an annual basis, core prices climbed 2.7%, also higher than the 2.6% forecast.

These figures suggest that inflation isn’t cooling as smoothly as many had hoped, and that could slow down any plans the Fed might have had to cut interest rates.

For context, core PCE strips out food and energy prices, making it a more stable gauge of inflation. While headline inflation stayed in line with expectations, up 0.1% MoM and 2.3% year-over-year, the firmer core numbers show that price pressures remain sticky in the broader economy.

Bitcoin Holds Steady Despite Hotter Core PCE Figures

Essentially, this makes it harder for the Fed to justify cutting rates any time soon, especially as it keeps a close eye on inflation trends before making its next move.

However, even with the hotter-than-expected inflation reading, Bitcoin has held up well. It slipped briefly after the report, falling 0.29% and dropping just below $107,000.

Nonetheless, the dip didn’t last. Bitcoin quickly bounced back and is now hovering around $106,951. If it manages to close the day above $107,000, it could turn that level into a short-term support base, which might help cushion the blow if selling pressure picks up again.

Crypto traders are watching inflation numbers because they tie directly into the Fed’s approach to interest rates. Higher inflation typically leads to tighter monetary policy, which can weigh on risk assets.

However, Bitcoin’s strong performance suggests many investors are still confident in its long-term role, whether as a hedge against inflation or a store of value.

No Interest Rate Cuts Soon

Recent comments from top policymakers and financial figures also suggest rate cuts might not be coming in soon. On June 24, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell told lawmakers that the Fed plans to pause and take more time to evaluate incoming data before making any rate changes.

He highlighted that new tariffs could drive prices higher and said the Fed wants to see how that plays out in upcoming reports.

Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic made similar comments. He said the Fed should wait before easing policy and predicted just one rate cut late in the year. Bostic pointed to rising costs from tariffs and ongoing strength in the job market as reasons for holding steady.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump repeated his calls for the Fed to lower rates significantly, criticizing Powell’s leadership. Vice President JD Vance also accused the central bank of mishandling the situation by not easing policy after inflation cooled slightly in May.

Some market analysts believe that traders may be expecting too much too soon when it comes to rate cuts. They argue that unless Powell is replaced when his term ends in May 2026, the Fed is likely to stick with its cautious stance.

Others warn that ongoing tariff pressures could keep inflation stuck around 3%, which raises concerns about stagflation—a mix of sluggish growth and high prices.

Cardano Bull Dan Gambardello Says Bitcoin Memecoin DOG Would Flip Dogecoin

0

Dan Gambardello, a long-standing Cardano bull, has maintained his stance that Bitcoin’s first meme coin, DOG, would flip Dogecoin in market cap.

Gambardello shared this stance in a tweet today, amid a recent bullish development for DOG, a Bitcoin-based meme coin minted on the Runes Protocol. He reiterated that DOG, currently the 12th-largest meme coin by market cap, would not only outperform Dogecoin this cycle but flip the sector’s leader in the long term.

Dogecoin’s Pole Position at Risk: Gambardello

Interestingly, the prominent analyst has been drumming this sentiment for a while. He noted that he was attracted to the prospect of DOG as the first meme coin on Bitcoin and how its relationship with the crypto leader would impact its long-term trajectory.

His support for DOG dates back to a tweet in May 2024 where he first asserted that DOG would flip Dogecoin. Since then, he has unrelentingly championed this narrative, despite his generally unenthusiastic view of meme coins.

Gambardello emphasized that meme coin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are forthcoming, as the recent development on the Bitwise Dogecoin ETF suggests progress with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

When they do start trading, he suggested that DOG’s position as the most prominent meme coin in the Bitcoin ecosystem, combined with growing institutional interest in joke-themed tokens, could play into the hands of DOG.

Kraken Listing and Growing DOG Engagement

Further fueling Gambardello’s optimism is DOG’s Kraken listing. The prominent exchange announced yesterday that DOG would be available for trading on June 27, becoming the first easy-on-ramp service provider in the US to list the token.

Additionally, Gambardello shared another fascinating development for DOG. He highlighted that DOG is outperforming Dogecoin and Cardano in social engagement, as interest in DOG surges. It ranks 14th on LunarCrush, one place above DOGE and two spots ahead of ADA.

Citing these factors, he emphasized that things could rapidly develop for DOG when sentiment turns bullish and the altcoin season finally resumes. Meanwhile, a shared chart shows that DOG could reach a $100 billion market cap, trouncing Dogecoin’s current $24 billion valuation.

DOG on Bitcoin to $100B Market Cap
DOG on Bitcoin to $100B Market Cap

DOG’s Possible Price If It Flips Dogecoin

At the time of writing, DOG trades at $0.004546 with a market cap of $454 million. To flip Dogecoin. Its market cap needs to surpass DOGE’s current $24 billion valuation.

From here, it would take a 5,186% market cap growth to reach $24 billion, which would be the minimum DOG needs to grow to flip Dogecoin. Such an uptick would take DOG’s price to $0.2403.

However, Gambardello projected a $100 billion market cap for DOG, potentially pushing its price to $1 with its 100 billion circulating supply. Remarkably, the analyst also stated that DOG would outperform Cardano this cycle.

NBA Legend Picks Shiba Inu and XRP as Top Crypto for Bull Run

0

As the broader crypto community anticipates the bull season, six-time NBA champion Scott Pippen revealed that Shiba Inu and XRP are currently on his watchlist.

Despite recent turbulence across the crypto market, many investors remain confident that a bull run is on the horizon. Amid this optimism, some stakeholders have taken to social media to share their crypto watchlist for the upcoming bull run.

Shiba Inu and XRP Make Pippen’s Bull Run Watchlist

Notably, famous NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen joined the trend, listing the crypto assets he is closely monitoring. Besides Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency, Pippen stated that he is keeping an eye on Shiba Inu and XRP for this bull run.

Other crypto assets he is closely watching include Cardano, Ethereum, Solana, BNB, Chainlink, Dogecoin, and Game5Ball. Pippen expects these crypto assets, including Shiba Inu and XRP, to shine in this bull run.

Pippen Bullish on SHIB and XRP

Meanwhile, the NBA Hall of Famer had previously expressed optimism about the future of XRP and Shiba Inu. In March, Pippen expressed his bullishness on XRP, emphasizing his confidence in the asset’s prospects.

In the debate he sparked last year, many of his followers suggested that XRP could outperform Ethereum during the 2025 bull run.

Similarly, Pippen holds Shiba Inu in high regard. In May, when he declared that Altcoin Season had begun, he once again highlighted Shiba Inu as a key token on his watchlist.

Experts Set New ATH Targets for Shiba Inu and XRP

However, Shiba Inu has not experienced a major rally since Pippen’s declaration of Altcoin Season. In fact, SHIB’s price has dropped by 21.4% over the past month, currently trading at $0.00001121.

Likewise, XRP, which surged over 500% between November 2024 and January 2025, has declined by 9.02% in the past 30 days, now selling at $2.09.

Despite this recent underperformance, many investors still believe that XRP and SHIB will reach new all-time highs (ATH) during the 2025 bull season.

Specifically, analysts have projected that SHIB will trade above the $0.0001 mark this year. Commentators like Javon Marks and Eunice Wong are championing this prediction.

For XRP, analysts like Altcoin Moe believe XRP could soar to an all-time high of $5 by December 2025. Meanwhile, some commentators, such as Dustin Layton, consider $5 too conservative. In particular, Layton is calling for a minimum price target of $50 for XRP.

Cardano Founder Proposes Creating More Yield with Cardano’s $1B “Buying Power”

0

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson reiterated his stance that the ecosystem should create a sustainable loop of yield generation with its $1 billion treasury.

The founder expressed his enthusiasm for advancing the Cardano ecosystem in his recent interview with David Gokhshtein. According to him, Cardano needs to start considering alternative means of generating passive income for its $1 billion treasury reserve.

Cardano Founder Advocated for Diversification

Hoskinson argued that the Cardano ecosystem should consider diversifying its $1 billion “buying power” to generate an autonomous system that creates yield. His statement builds on his earlier proposal that Cardano should allocate $100 million from its treasury reserve to purchase Bitcoin and Cardano native assets, such as the USDM.

The logic behind this strategy is to transition from an unmanaged single-asset on-chain treasury to a functional off-chain treasury, generating yield for the ecosystem. According to him, this would generate an annualized income of up to 10%, which the ecosystem will use to repurchase ADA and replenish its treasury.

This way. It would become a stablecoin and a Bitcoin treasury, augmenting the ADA value in its treasury reserve. Hoskinson emphasized the need for this move in his recent podcast with Gokhshtein.

Move to Boost Cardano DeFi

Hoskinson stressed that either approach would boost the Cardano ecosystem. If Cardano uses $100 million worth of ADA from its treasury to buy native stablecoins and deploys them into the DeFi space, it will boost the “lackluster stablecoin ecosystem,” with its ripple effect driving total value locked (TVL) and yield.

Furthermore, buying Bitcoin with the treasury funds would serve as a first money in, showing how Bitcoin DeFi can generate yield on Cardano. This approach would also advance the course to unlock trillions of dollars in liquidity from the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Essentially, Hoskinson suggests that delving into both endeavors would not only create yield but also boost Cardano’s DeFi, TVL, network users, and transactions. Consequently, major industry players would start paying attention to Cardano, further fueling its bullish long-term trajectory.

Recall that the founder had earlier noted that the stablecoin liquidity strategy could attract leading venture capitalists, such as a16z and Pantera Capital. Remarkably, Hoskinson’s statement represents a reversal of his earlier indifferent stance toward venture capitalists.

Here’s How High XRP Price Could Rise if XRP Surges 50x According to This Prediction

0

Social media personality Jake Gagain sheds light on how much one XRP will be worth if the token soars 50x or 5,000% from its current price.

He provided the estimate in response to a bold claim from Carl Moon, the host of Moon Show. In an X post yesterday, Carl issued a direct call to his 1.5 million X followers, urging them to purchase altcoins immediately.

The message suggests that the prices of altcoins are poised to surge soon. He projected that altcoin prices will spike by 50x on average from their current levels.

Carl’s bold prediction elicited mixed reactions from market participants. While some users expressed excitement about the bold prediction, others seemed skeptical about the forecast.

XRP Price If It Soars 50x

As the debate continued, Gagain provided insight into how much top altcoins, including XRP, could be worth if they were to record 50x growth from their current prices.

According to Gagain, a 50x surge will take XRP’s price to $106.5. This indicates that XRP was trading at $2.13 when Gagain did the calculation. The estimated price target of $106.5 will serve as a new all-time high for XRP, surpassing the previous record of $3.84 by a significant margin.

Notably, if XRP clinches a price target of $106.5 and its circulating supply remains at 59 billion tokens, its market cap will increase to $6.28 trillion.

Meanwhile, Gagain also provided estimates for other top altcoins, including Ethereum, BNB, Solana, and Cardano. He indicated that a 50X rally would propel BNB to $32,266, Ethereum to $122,350, Cardano to $27.50, and Solana to $7,100.

Given how high the prices of top altcoins could reach, Gagain questioned, “What is Carl talking about?”

He believes the 50x prediction for altcoins is wildly optimistic.

XRP to $100 Predictions

Nonetheless, several community members believe XRP is capable of hitting the $100 target. Founder of Alpha Lions Academy, Edoardo Farina, expects XRP to reach the $100 milestone in the future, insisting that not even World War III would force him to sell below that level.

Crypto YouTuber “Modern Investor” also stated that XRP’s price below the $100 region indicates the market is still in its early stages. He suggested that there is still time for new investors to acquire the token before its price skyrockets above $100.

Last year, Moonshilla, a pseudonymous market commentator, teased that XRP could reach the $100 milestone if Bitcoin price soars to around $350,000. This way, Moonshilla believes XRP would still rank behind Bitcoin in the global crypto ranking.

Meanwhile, Changelly sets a timeframe of 2035-2039 for the $100 price to materialize. However, Telegaon believes XRP will hit a triple-digit price of at least $100 between 2036 and 2039.

Key drivers behind the $100 target include XRP’s utility for cross-border settlements, the prospect of XRP spot ETFs launching in the U.S., and the token’s potential integration into global financial systems.

Judge Torres Ruling Positions U.S. as Potential Buyer of 37B XRP in Ripple Escrow: Expert Argues

Brad Kimes, founder of XRPLasVegas and Digital Perspectives, has suggested a potential U.S. government involvement in the ongoing Ripple vs. SEC case.

Specifically, Kimes argued that the government could now be positioned as the acquirer of the 37 billion XRP held in Ripple’s escrow, forming the basis for the proposed national altcoin stockpile as part of the broader crypto reserve.

This bold speculation follows U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres’ recent unfavorable ruling in the Ripple-SEC case that further delays its resolution. According to Kimes, the ruling may open the door for government intervention.

Notably, since the leadership change at the SEC, the agency has softened its previously hostile stance on crypto, rolling back several lawsuits against crypto firms. However, the Ripple case remains particularly difficult to settle.

Following the August 2024 final judgment, Ripple and the SEC later agreed to pursue a settlement with terms more favorable than those granted by the court. However, they have yet to achieve success on this front.

Judge Torres’ Blockade

On Thursday, Judge Analisa Torres denied a joint motion by the SEC and Ripple to vacate a permanent injunction and reduce Ripple’s penalty to $50 million.

The parties had cited exceptional circumstances and requested an indicative ruling. However, Judge Torres ruled their arguments unconvincing and insufficient to override the court’s final judgment.

While acknowledging the parties’ right to settle, the judge made clear they cannot circumvent the final decision. She emphasized that any relief must come through an appeal to the Second Circuit.

This latest ruling further delays a final resolution in the nearly five-year-long case, sparking renewed commentary among market watchers.

“Goodbye XRP Escrow”

In his analysis, Brad Kimes suggested that Judge Torres’ latest decision effectively “set up” the U.S. government as the potential “buyer” of the XRP tokens in Ripple’s escrow. He proposed that the government might aim to use the tokens to establish a national crypto asset reserve.

This idea has circulated within the XRP community for some time. Notably, the theory posits that Judge Torres could be legally inclined to vacate her ruling if national interests or executive intervention were to arise.

Proponents argue that if compelling evidence suggests continued litigation could threaten U.S. financial or diplomatic interests, the court might lift the injunction and reduce Ripple’s penalty, not as a matter of preference, but in deference to federal priorities.

Why This Is Unlikely

However, this remains a purely hypothetical scenario. To date, the U.S. government has shown no interest in acquiring crypto assets beyond Bitcoin. This fact significantly undermines the theory of a federal XRP purchase.

Additionally, there is little basis to suggest that Ripple would hand over the escrowed XRP to the government without compensation. Such a move would amount to an unprecedented philanthropic gesture, especially given that the escrowed tokens are worth around $100 billion. In contrast, Ripple’s pending request in court is merely for a $75 million reduction in its fine.

Moreover, Ripple’s escrow accounts for roughly 37% of XRP’s total circulating supply. A U.S. government acquisition of this magnitude would likely raise concerns across the broader crypto community about centralization and state influence over a decentralized project.
