Pro-XRP Exchange Uphold Considers $1.5B IPO or Potential Sale

0

Just weeks after promoting several XRP-related initiatives, the Uphold crypto exchange is now focusing on broader strategic moves, including a potential IPO or sale.

In a recent interview, Uphold’s CEO, Simon McLoughlin, disclosed that the exchange is considering going public through an IPO in the United States or potentially selling itself to another firm.

In line with this strategic vision, McLoughlin said the exchange’s board has hired Financial Technology (FT) Partners to evaluate the options of a potential sale or IPO.

According to him, several financial institutions, including banks and payment firms, are courting Uphold, and he suggests that a trade might be an option.

$1.5B Public Offering?

Despite the disclosure, McLoughlin did not reveal the potential valuation Uphold is targeting for its IPO. However, a source with direct knowledge of the matter disclosed that the valuation could exceed $1.5 billion.

Discussions around Uphold’s IPO come less than a week after USDC stablecoin issuer Circle saw significant success with its public offering.

Notably, Circle’s shares (CRCL) hit an all-time high of $137 yesterday, marking a 341% increase from their initial price of $31. However, the stock has since dropped to $115.

Uphold’s 2025 Revenue to Exceed $300M

Meanwhile, McLoughlin indicated that Uphold has witnessed significant growth since he became CEO in 2022. He predicted that Uphold’s revenue could exceed $300 million this year, representing a 275% surge from the $80 million recorded in 2022.

The CEO attributed this tremendous growth to enterprise-level collaborations, including an alliance with a German bank. For perspective, Uphold also partnered with IG Group, allowing the U.K. financial firm to offer direct crypto trading and custody services.

Ongoing Support for XRP

Uphold is a popular crypto trading platform that enables users to buy, sell, and hold assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP. Despite supporting multiple cryptocurrencies, Uphold has consistently shown strong support for XRP.

The platform initially listed XRP in March 2018, just two months after the token reached its all-time high. While many exchanges delisted XRP in early 2021 due to the SEC’s enforcement actions against Ripple, Uphold continued to list XRP, offering users an avenue to buy and sell the coin.

Moreover, it has introduced several features tied to XRP, including a crypto investment basket and a debit card that allows users to earn an XRP bonus. Last month, Uphold disclosed that it was exploring ways to enable XRP holders to earn yields on their holdings following a partnership with Flare Network.

In the same month, the exchange launched an initiative dubbed Direct Salary Deposit, which allows users to earn 4% rewards in XRP anytime they receive salaries through their Uphold accounts.

Analyst Says XRP Forced Decision Approaches, Predicts XRP Breakout to $13

0

Analyst Casi highlights a tight XRP consolidation and upcoming decision point, signaling a potential breakout as the market nears a crucial turning point.

XRP is currently trading at $2.28, reflecting a 2.4% increase in the last 24 hours. Amid this positive momentum, analysts have their eyes set on XRP’s consolidation phase, with a critical decision point approaching.

Casi (CasiTrades), a prominent analyst on X, recently pointed to the tight consolidation that has persisted for months, signaling that a significant price move is imminent. Notably, the market is nearing a forced decision point, with key levels, such as the $2.25 support zone, in focus.

XRP Approaching Forced Decision Point

Casi has tracked XRP’s price movements for several months, focusing on its consolidation pattern within a symmetrical triangle. The pattern began in January 2025 when XRP hit $3.40 and faced a pullback.

Image

Over the months, XRP formed waves A, B, and C within the triangle, with volatility decreasing as the price narrowed toward the apex. Notably, the $2.25 level, representing the major .382 Fibonacci retracement, has served as a crucial support zone during this consolidation period.

The analyst emphasized that June 16 is a key date for XRP’s price action, as her previous Fibonacci analysis pointed to this time window for a potential breakout or breakdown. While her previously mentioned all-time high (ATH) prediction did not materialize, the analyst argues that this does not invalidate the other important findings.

XRP’s price movement is approaching its final moments within the consolidation phase, and the tight range suggests that the next big move is about to unfold.

XRP’s Wave 2 Bottom Sets Stage for Potential Upside

In a more granular analysis, Casi suggests that XRP may have reached the bottom of its wave 2 correction, indicating that the asset is positioned for a potential surge into wave 3. This wave structure, if correct, could push XRP toward its macro targets of $8 to $13, which have been a focus for over a year. XRP would need to surge approximately 470.6% to reach $13 from $2.28.

The analyst notes that the subwave extensions from the recent local low align with these higher price targets. While there remains the possibility of one last sweep lower for liquidity, the current structure indicates that XRP is near its turning point.

Moreover, XRP’s Relative Strength Index (RSI) sits in the mid-50s, suggesting neutral to slightly bullish momentum. This indicates room for upward movement, with no immediate signs of exhaustion, which further supports the likelihood of a price rally.

Guardian Arch and Resistance Levels

Meanwhile, EGRAG Crypto, another prominent analyst, has pointed to the Guardian Arch as a crucial element in XRP’s price movements. This curve has historically acted as a resistance level, and breaking above it could pave the way for higher prices.

Notably, previous cycles have shown that when XRP manages to breach this arch, it leads to significant price rallies. EGRAG’s analysis suggests that XRP’s current pullback after reaching the $3.4 peak could follow a similar pattern to past bull runs, potentially setting up a breakout toward the $20–$27 range.

Here’s Why XRP is Already Pricing Out retail investors

Concerns have emerged in the XRP community, as more investors point out that retail buyers are quickly losing the chance to own meaningful amounts of the asset.

Edoardo Farina, founder of Alpha Lions Academy, rejuvenated the conversation with a recent video where he discussed why most XRP holders will struggle to keep up in the long run.

Farina Reveals Why Retailers Are Getting Priced Out of XRP

Notably, Farina once believed that 95% of XRP holders would fall behind. Now, after traveling to more than 20 countries and talking to people everywhere from South America to Europe, he thinks the number will rise to 99%.

The market pundit explained that rising costs and economic pressure are forcing people to sell off their XRP just to cover everyday expenses. Discouragingly, this is no longer about buying new cars or luxury items, as many are selling just to buy groceries or pay rent.

He pointed out how the cost of living keeps rising, while wages and savings don’t keep pace. According to Farina, even Americans, who live in one of the world’s wealthiest countries, often don’t have $10,000 in savings.

This makes owning large amounts of XRP, like 10,000 tokens, out of reach for most. With current prices, that amount costs over $20,000, making it a goal that used to feel realistic but now seems far-fetched. Farina said even 1,000 XRP is now becoming a stretch for average buyers.

A Concerning Global Economic Trend

Speaking further, he asked whether crypto prices are really climbing or if the value of fiat money is just falling. As inflation eats away at purchasing power, most people can no longer afford to hold their investments.

They’re cashing out, not by choice but out of necessity. Now, while that is happening, the market keeps moving. XRP’s price continues to climb, and Farina believes those who sell now will find it much harder, or even impossible, to buy back later.

Farina urged investors to get creative instead of selling. He shared his own story of moving from northern Italy to Greece, where he cut living costs dramatically and used the savings to invest in crypto.

He encouraged people to consider side gigs, change locations if needed, and make better use of the internet to earn income. The pundit believes that taking these steps now could make the difference between financial freedom and being left behind.

XRP Community Reacts

However, Australian lawyer Bill Morgan pushed back on Farina’s claims. He questioned the idea of getting priced out entirely, saying that people can always buy $100 worth of XRP today, and they’ll still be able to do that in the future.

Essentially, Morgan pointed out that trading doesn’t stop, and anyone can buy small amounts, regardless of the token’s price.

Responding to the attorney, Nick, a crypto investor and the founder of Web3Alert, said it’s not about whether someone can buy $100 worth, but how much that $100 can actually get them.

According to Nick, in 2020, he could easily buy 10,000 XRP at prices between $0.11 and $0.20. That’s no longer the case. He believes XRP, like Bitcoin, has already moved out of reach for regular people looking to build life-changing positions.

Meanwhile, well-known XRP community figure Alex Cobb said in a separate commentary that he remembers when $100 bought 400 XRP. Today, that same amount only gets 43. He warned that this trend will likely continue, and retail investors could lose their window of opportunity completely within the year.

Market Veteran Reveals How to Spot Bitcoin Cycle Top Using the 200W SMA

0

A top market analyst has highlighted how the movement of the 200W SMA indicator has marked the cyclical top for Bitcoin and what it means for current prices.

Benjamin Cowen, the founder of Into The Cryptoverse, identified this trend in an X post on June 10. He drew the data from Bitcoin’s historical tops in correlation with the 200-week simple moving average (SMA), emphasizing how it affects current prices.

This follows Bitcoin’s close above $110,000 yesterday. The leading cryptocurrency by market cap rallied 4% on Monday to an intraday high of $110,617 before moving a bit lower.

Bitcoin Cyclical Top’s Correlation With the 200W SMA

Cowen noted that Bitcoin’s price action and the 200-week SMA have a pattern: the indicator has consistently predicted its cyclical top. For the uninitiated, the moving average calculates the average closing price of Bitcoin over the past 200 weeks.

Historically, BTC usually reaches its top for the cycle when the weekly indicator crosses its all-time high from the previous cycle.

An accompanying chart further confirms this correlation. For perspective, Bitcoin topped at $1,242 in November 2013 when the 200W SMA crossed its previous high. The same happened with the ATH of $19,804 in December 2017. Specifically, the 2017 cycle peak occurred when the 200W SMA reached $1,157, aligning with the $1,242 ATH from 2013.

This pattern also played out with the $69,000 peak price in November 2021. Notably, when Bitcoin hit the November 2021 high of $69,000, the 200W SMA had climbed close to the previous cycle’s peak. This marked the top for the 2021 bull run.

More Upsides for Bitcoin?

Meanwhile, according to the chart, the 200W moving average has yet to reach 2021’s ATH. In fact, the chart shows it has more ground to cover to get the extended line from the price high. For context, the 200W SMA stands at $48,353, a difference of $20,644 from the 2021’s peak of $68,997.

As a result, Cowen’s analysis suggests Bitcoin has more upside from here. While he did not mention a specific price target in the Tuesday analysis, he stressed it is “something to keep in mind.”

Interestingly, other analyses align with this bullish outlook. Earlier, Klarch highlighted a similar cyclical recurrence in Bitcoin, suggesting further upside to $180,000 per coin.

His optimism hinges on the idea that, according to the cyclical timeline, there is more time for further upside and continued capital influx into the crypto market.

Furthermore, other bullish predictions, including a rally to $200,000 and $250,000, remain in place. In the meantime, Bitcoin trades at $109,274, with its market cap surpassing $2.1 trillion.

If Bitcoin Closes Above this Level, It Confirms Its Inverted Ascending Scallop, Targeting $244K

0

Analyst SuperBro notes that a Bitcoin close above the key level would confirm his inverted ascending scallop pattern, potentially leading to higher prices.

Bitcoin’s price has experienced a clear upward trend over the past week, seeing a significant jump from below $104,000 to over $110,000. As of today, Bitcoin is trading at $109,318, showing a 3.5% increase in the last 24 hours and a slight 0.1% rise over the past 7 days.

Following this surge, an analyst on X suggests Bitcoin might be poised for a broader surge, even reaching new highs based on an inverted ascending scallop.

Technical Patterns and Price Targets

The chart analysis shared by crypto analyst SuperBro highlights the formation of an “Inverted Ascending Scallop” pattern on Bitcoin’s weekly price chart. This pattern unfolds in multiple phases, beginning with a rise from $49,500 in August 2024 to a peak of $109,000 on January 20, 2025.

Image

From there, Bitcoin dipped to $74,400 in early April before making a comeback. This upward trend has brought the price back near the January peak, with the final phase projecting further increases.

SuperBro highlights that if Bitcoin records a weekly close above $109,358, it will confirm the inverted ascending scallop pattern, which he has continued to watch since February 2025. Interestingly, the analyst provides two potential price targets for Bitcoin.

The conservative target, based on a linear estimation, is set at $148,000. This target is derived from calculating 64% of the price difference between points A and B. In contrast, the more aggressive logarithmic target suggests that Bitcoin could reach as high as $244,000.

When asked about the possibility of Bitcoin hitting $130,000 this week, the analyst stated that it is possible, as the market is likely on the cusp of a parabolic move.

Bitcoin’s Strong Buying Pressure

Meanwhile, data on Bitcoin holder inflows reveals strong buying pressure in both the short and long term. The 7-day change in inflows has increased by 168.70%, indicating heightened short-term demand.

Bitcoin Large Holders Inflow | IntoTheBlock

More notably, the 30-day change has surged by 522.76%, suggesting that large holders have been accumulating Bitcoin over the past month. However, despite the strong inflow data, the 90-day change in inflows shows a massive decline of 95.04%.

Bitcoin’s Potential for Long-Term Growth

On the macro scale, Bitcoin’s potential for future growth has drawn attention from prominent analysts. Tom Lee, head of research at Fundstrat, remains confident that Bitcoin could reach an all-time high of $250,000 by the end of 2025.

He attributes this optimistic outlook to Bitcoin’s fixed supply—95% of its maximum supply has already been mined—combined with the growing imbalance between Bitcoin’s demand and available supply. Lee speculates that more institutional and retail investors will enter the market, pushing Bitcoin’s price higher as demand continues to outpace its available supply.

Shiba Inu Levels Up, Team Says Things Are Getting Serious

0

The Shiba Inu ecosystem team announces a major Shibarium upgrade that introduces a complete package, transforming how users trade, earn, and burn SHIB.

According to Lucie, ‘things just got serious’ for SHIB, TREAT, BONE, and LEASH. This comes after the development team improved the project’s DeFi toolkit.

She suggested that the recent upgrade is not a mere ‘cosmetic refresh’ but a complete transformation of Shiba Inu’s underlying engine, which powers how users earn, trade, and burn tokens within the ecosystem.

New Features

Lucie highlighted some notable features from the upgraded DeFi toolkit, including precision liquidity pools. This feature enables liquidity providers to select precisely where to provide liquidity, allowing them to target specific price zones for higher yields.

With this new feature, Lucie noted that users will no longer spread their capitalization thin but will focus more on the action.

Multiple Reward Sources

In addition, the marketing lead stated that the upgraded toolkit now allows stakers to earn rewards from multiple sources, including fees, protocol incentives, and additional bonuses. She emphasized that the rewards would continue to compound without requiring micromanagement.

Real-Time Auto Burns

Furthermore, Lucie noted that the upgrade would significantly impact SHIB burns. According to her, certain activities, such as liquidity actions, swaps, and other on-chain transactions, will automatically trigger burns in real time.

With the new auto-burn feature, the team will not wait for a special announcement before incinerating tokens like SHIB. Notably, every on-chain transaction burns SHIB immediately, steadily reducing its supply.

Despite the introduction of real-time auto burns, Shiba Inu’s burn rate experienced a significant dip, crashing by 97.99% in the past day to 208,890 SHIB. This implies that fewer tokens were incinerated in the last 24 hours compared to the previous day.

Unified Interface

The new upgrade combines all core SHIB functions into one platform, including swap, stake, burn, and token bridge. As a result, users no longer need to visit multiple platforms to initiate these transactions.

Overall, the marketing lead of the Shiba Inu ecosystem stated that the upgraded toolkit enables average users to operate like professionals. With the upgrade, users can lock LP positions into narrow price bands to achieve higher yields, combine rewards across protocols, exit and re-enter liquidity positions without losing yields, and burn tokens with each transaction.

The upgrade is part of the team’s efforts to simplify things for users by transforming how they burn, trade, and earn within the Shiba Inu ecosystem.

SEC Chair Atkins Backs Self Custody of Bitcoin and Crypto as “Foundational American Value’

0

At a roundtable event in Washington, D.C., SEC Chairman Paul Atkins delivered a strong message on regulating digital assets, particularly supporting self-custody of Bitcoin and other crypto.

He called self-custody a “foundational American value” and criticized the prior administration’s approach toward crypto asset regulation. Atkins stressed that the SEC’s previous stance involving legal actions targeting self-custodial technologies had hindered innovation within the crypto space.

He argued that the SEC under Gary Gensler had overstepped by suggesting that developers of such technologies could be conducting brokerage activities. He pointed out that these technologies, which empower individuals to manage their assets without intermediaries, align with core free market principles.

SEC’s Shift on Digital Asset Regulation

The SEC Chairman also noted the need for congressional approval to enforce any lasting policies on staking-as-a-service providers. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that these policies are grounded in legislative authority rather than the agency’s interpretation alone.

Meanwhile, Atkins voiced his support for flexible market structures that allow participants to self-custody their assets, particularly when intermediaries impose unnecessary transaction costs or limit the ability to engage in activities like staking.

Clarification on Staking and Self-Custody

Recall, the SEC has recently moved to ease its approach toward staking in proof-of-stake (PoS) networks. The Division of Corporation Finance clarified on May 29 that specific staking activities do not fall under the scope of federal securities laws.

This guidance exempts activities like self-staking by node operators and self-custodial staking through third-party services from registration requirements.

Atkins also praised the agency’s current stance, stating that voluntary participation in proof-of-work or proof-of-stake networks, such as mining or staking, is not subject to federal securities laws.

However, he acknowledged that this clarification is not yet a formal rule with the force of law, suggesting that the SEC must continue refining its approach.

SEC’s Ongoing Actions

In addition to these comments, the SEC has made significant moves regarding its legal battles with major exchanges. Recently, the agency filed a joint stipulation with firms like Coinbase and Binance to dismiss the civil enforcement action against the platform.

This aligns with the SEC’s broader efforts to establish a more transparent regulatory framework for digital assets. Notably, the SEC also dropped its efforts to classify ten cryptocurrencies, including Solana and Cardano, as securities in the Binance lawsuit.

BlackRock Says Institutions Bitcoin Adoption is Still Very Early

0

Asset manager BlackRock has highlighted a growing interest among institutions and wealth advisors in Bitcoin but insisted it is still in its early stages.

Robert Mitchnick, the head of digital assets at the $11.5 trillion asset management firm, said in the Bloomberg ETF IQ interview that wealth advisors are now turning towards Bitcoin. And while this is a positive development, he emphasized that it is still in the early stages, and more institutions will come around soon.

His comments came as the BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) nears an impressive $72 billion in net assets. The Bitcoin investment fund experienced pent-up demand between April and May. In May alone, the product attracted a net inflow of $5.91 billion, marking its strongest month since March 2024.

Wealth Advisors Are Coming

Recent 13-F filings with the US SEC for Q1 2025 saw growing exposure from wealth advisors towards Bitcoin spot ETFs. For instance, Goldman Sachs increased its exposure, while new names, such as the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund, Mubadala, also bought more Bitcoin.

BlackRock’s Mitchnick acknowledged the growing adoption of the Bitcoin ETF wrapper for new and experienced institutions. However, he stressed that it is very early in terms of wealth advisor adoption.

The approval process for new ETFs takes time, as institutions conduct thorough due diligence on the nature and viability of the fund. Nonetheless, he identified a strong interest among some of the “largest firms,” so much so that some of them are lowering their barriers and approving that their advisors buy Bitcoin.

Possible Drivers for Bitcoin ETFs Surge

Nonetheless, the IBIT has been one of the most successful launches in the history of ETFs. The Bitcoin investment product became the fastest to reach a net asset under management of $50 billion and is now well above $71 billion.

When asked the possible drivers for this stunning growth, Mitchnick highlighted a congregation of several bullish catalysts. He stated that pent-up demand for the vehicles, which tracks Bitcoin’s performance, initially started with retail investors.

Soon enough, high-net-worth individuals began gaining exposure. Recall that several billionaires, including Ricardo Salinas Pliego, have staggering amounts of their portfolio in Bitcoin and Bitcoin-related products. Meanwhile, it remains unclear if the Mexican billionaire holds IBIT shares.

Now, Mitchnick has revealed steady progress in institutional adoption. According to him, the massive demand has fueled these incessant inflows into the funds.

Bitcoin is Volatile Yet Appealing

Meanwhile, Mitchnick acknowledged a reduction in Bitcoin’s volatility. While stating that Bitcoin, on a standalone basis, is a volatile asset, citing its relatively novel technology, he noted that the asset offers a unique appeal to investors.

“It is still volatile, but at the same time, its risk and return drivers are markedly different from most of the rest of the assets in a traditional portfolio, and that’s important,” Mitchnick emphasized.

For the uninitiated, Bitcoin is one of the best-performing assets of the last decade, demonstrating a level of consistency in rewarding its adopters. The pioneering cryptocurrency rallied 121% last year and is up 15% year-to-date.

At the time of writing, it trades at $109,608, representing a 3.78% increase in the past 24 hours.

Notably, Mitchnick also discussed BlackRock’s Ethereum spot ETF, which he disclosed is currently strongly driven by retail investor attraction. He noted that, although there is an exciting story surrounding Ethereum, as seen with Bitcoin, it focuses more on technological innovation and blockchain adoption.

XRP is The Covid of Finance: Gary Cardone

Financial expert Gary Cardone has slammed XRP for its alleged alignment with global authoritarianism amid speculation about the digital euro integration with the XRPL.

In recent weeks, there have been talks about the European Central Bank (ECB) potentially launching its upcoming digital euro on the XRP Ledger. Although there is no official confirmation, such claims have gained attention among both XRP supporters and critics.

Cardone: XRP Will Partner With “Oppressive People to Survive”

In a tweet, Gary Cardone criticized XRP, stating it “will take any path it needs to survive,” even if that means aligning itself with some of the world’s most oppressive figures.

He took direct aim at ECB President Christine Lagarde, mockingly referring to her as “Ms. Cringe,” and accused her of wanting to turn Europe into a “prison continent.”

Furthermore, Cardone equated XRP to a second wave of COVID-19, calling it “COVID-19 Part Two in finance.”

He also warned that continued support for XRP is akin to voting for “European warmongers.”

Essentially, Cardone’s remarks highlight an ideological divide within the crypto community. Some view XRP’s potential alignment with central banks and financial institutions as a strategic advantage. Others see it as a betrayal of crypto’s foundational values.

For context, many in the crypto industry oppose central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). They view them as tools for surveillance and as fundamentally at odds with crypto’s decentralization ethos.

Despite the criticism, announcements of government-level blockchain adoption often spark admiration and excitement among network supporters, who overlook concerns in favor of broader adoption.

As a result, the rumored involvement of the XRP Ledger in the digital euro initiative has triggered excitement among community members, even as critics like Cardone raise red flags.

XRP Army Reacts, Sets the Record Straight

Meanwhile, XRP community members have resisted Cardone’s claims, calling them exaggerated and factually incorrect. Robert Doyle, known online as Crypto Sensei, clarified that there is no official confirmation regarding the technology selected for the digital euro.

The European Central Bank has stated it is prepared to launch a central bank digital currency if approved by the European Parliament. However, it has not decided on the specific technology to use.

Doyle also pointed out that Ripple has engaged in discussions on CBDC with several central banks globally. Countries such as Georgia and Palau have already chosen Ripple’s technology for pilot programs.

At present, there is no public evidence that Ripple or the XRP Ledger has been selected for the ECB’s digital euro initiative.

Another prominent community figure, Moon Lambo, responded that Cardone is either gullible, has fallen for fake news, or is intentionally spreading misinformation.

He linked to the official ECB website, noting that the central bank has not made any platform decisions, and hasn’t even confirmed whether a digital euro will be launched.

Moon Lambo claimed that Cardone suffers from “XRP Derangement Syndrome,” suggesting that Cardone wants the story to be true because it reinforces his tribal narrative. He urged Cardone to act with integrity, warning that posts like his erode trust rather than build credibility.

Meanwhile, in his remarks, attorney Bill Morgan highlighted the irony of the claim that XRP Ledger, a public, permissionless network, could be cooperating with some of the most oppressive people on Earth just to survive.

Most People Will Never Own a Meaningful Amount of XRP: Analyst

0

XRP community commentator Pumpius has highlighted three psychological reasons that prevent most individuals from acquiring a substantial amount of XRP.

For many XRP investors, the goal is to accumulate large quantities of the asset in anticipation of future price appreciation. They employ various strategies, including dollar-cost averaging (DCA), to grow their XRP holdings by buying during market downturns.

Barriers Preventing Many Investors from Owning a Meaningful Amount of XRP

While some investors are acquiring more XRP, Pumpius asserted that most people will never own a meaningful amount of the coin.

The community pundit claimed that meaningful XRP ownership will elude many individuals, not because they can’t afford it, but because of three key psychological barriers.

Cognitive Barrier

Pumpius contended that these investors may not want to acquire XRP due to a lack of understanding of the cryptocurrency. He suggested that the average retail investor still thinks XRP is just another cryptocurrency without understanding that the coin serves as a financial infrastructure.

As a result of this misunderstanding, most retail investors ignore certain core features of XRP, including its use in On-Demand Liquidity (ODL). Now rebranded as Ripple Payments, ODL allows users to leverage XRP for instant, low-cost cross-border settlements.

Emotional Barrier

Pumpius highlighted ‘emotion’ as another barrier preventing most investors from acquiring a meaningful amount of XRP.

According to him, these individuals usually crave hype over value. He asserted that XRP is not a meme coin and does not promise to give investors 100x gains within five hours. Most investors may never buy XRP “because they can’t handle delayed gratification.”

Since XRP is a utility token, Pumpius noted that most pump-and-dump influencers on social media tend to ignore it.

Behavioral Barrier

Pumpius also pointed to behavioral patterns as a reason many people will never own significant amounts of XRP. He argued that these investors tend to chase trends rather than adopt long-term strategies like DCA or disciplined holding.

In contrast, he highlighted that XRP whales are more methodical, quietly accumulating the asset and holding through periods of intense skepticism.

XRP Supply Shrinking

Meanwhile, Pumpius noted that while most retail investors are chasing after meme coins, institutional clients are bracing up for the long game with XRP.

He attributed this confidence to ongoing positive developments in the XRP ecosystem. These include XRP’s involvement in Dubai’s real estate tokenization initiative, its use in cross-border settlement, and the regulatory approval of RLUSD in multiple jurisdictions.

Consequently, he suggested that these initiatives are gradually reducing the publicly traded supply of XRP, potentially creating scarcity for the coin.

Pumpius predicted that once XRP reaches mass adoption, institutions will dominate custody, and retail investors may no longer be able to buy the coin, even at prices between $10 and $1,000, regardless of demand.
