Pundit Says You Don’t Need 50,000 XRP to Get Rich

Notable voices in the XRP community are debating whether a large XRP bag, like 50,000 tokens, is essential for life-changing gains.

The discussion centers around how much XRP is “enough,” and whether arbitrary targets like 50,000 tokens are helpful or harmful to the average investor.

50,000 XRP as the “Minimum”

Crypto commentator King Vale recently advised investors to accumulate at least 50,000 XRP, framing it as the threshold for serious wealth potential.

His suggestion closely aligns with current on-chain data, which shows that the amount needed to join the top 1% of XRP holders has dropped to 50,835 XRP, down from 56,304 tokens in January.

Despite the lower token count needed for elite status, XRP’s recent price surge has made the goal more expensive. At $2.17 per token, acquiring 50,000 XRP now costs over $108,500, compared to around $25,000 in November 2024.

Vale defended his advice by noting that those who followed his earlier recommendations at lower prices have already seen life-changing returns. He also argued that in a hyperinflationary world, accumulation—not affordability—should guide investment strategy.

“This is Ego, Not Strategy”

However, community figure Xena strongly disagreed, calling Vale’s post misleading and unrealistic. She dismissed the notion that 50,000 XRP is a necessary benchmark.

She encouraged community members to avoid those who try to make others feel bad about the amount of XRP they hold. Xena contended that even someone with 50,000 XRP can perform poorly without financial literacy.

According to her, financial literacy, money management, and strategic thinking are the true keys to long-term success, regardless of portfolio size. She advised investors to keep buying within their means and to focus on smart decision-making, rather than feeling inadequate for not hitting arbitrary token milestones.

Xena also noted that smaller holders may outperform larger ones in the long run simply by being more disciplined and informed.

Clash of Mindsets: Two Paths to Becoming an XRP Millionaire

The debate highlights a broader divide in the crypto scene. On one side are voices like Vale, who promote maximum accumulation and large holdings as a practical response to macroeconomic risks.

For perspective, should XRP reach $10 per coin, those holding 50,000 tokens would have $500,000 in wealth, or half a million dollars.

On the other hand, conservatives like Xena view the pressure to hit large numbers as demotivating and ego-driven. According to her, strategy trumps bag size, especially for newer investors or those with limited capital.

Interestingly, Xena advocates for ambitious price outlooks for XRP. She strongly disagrees that outlooks like a $10 target are truly life-changing for the average investor.

To illustrate: at $10 per XRP, someone holding 1,000 tokens would only earn $10,000, while 50,000-token holders approach millionaire status. However, at $500 per coin, even a 1,000-token holder would be approaching a millionaire status.

Yet, there is significant disagreement in the crypto community about whether XRP can realistically reach such lofty price targets. Some believe it could take a decade or more. Others warn that waiting too long might expose investors to becoming exit liquidity for those taking profits earlier.

How Much Shiba Inu You Need to Buy Today to Retire by 2040

0

As people seek alternative means to retire early, we estimated how Shiba Inu could help investors achieve this goal by 2040.

Many who joined the crypto bandwagon early benefited from successive bull runs that enabled them to retire early.

Employees Retire Early After Shiba Inu’s Parabolic Rally

The Crypto Basic has reported stories of employees quitting their 9-to-5 jobs after making substantial gains from crypto investments.

Most of these stories were associated with Shiba Inu following the token’s remarkable performance in the 2020/2021 market cycle. As previously reported, a truck driver retired early after his $650 investment in Shiba Inu skyrocketed to $1.7 million.

In addition, a warehouse manager also retired from his job, thanks to Shiba Inu’s rally. The warehouse manager generated a profit of approximately $1.5 million within a year of investing $8,000 in Shiba Inu.

These stories motivated many to enter the crypto space, with hopes of also retiring early.

Key Considerations for Early Retirement

To retire early, one must attain financial freedom to cover their needs and wants while setting aside inheritance for loved ones.

However, people’s retirement goals differ based on their lifestyle and geographical location. People residing in high-cost locations and seeking a luxurious lifestyle might set a high retirement target of over $1 million.

In contrast, individuals living in low-cost areas with frugal lifestyles might retire early after making $500,000.

As the search for alternative paths to financial freedom surges, we explored how people can achieve this by investing in SHIB. Specifically, the Crypto Basic estimated the number of SHIB tokens an investor would need to acquire today to retire by 2040, assuming the price rises to $0.001 per token.

It is worth noting that we considered three financial targets for this analysis: $500,000, $1 million, and $5 million.

Amount of SHIB Needed to Retire Early By 2040

Reaching these retirement targets requires investors to hold a certain amount of SHIB. An individual seeking to reach a target of $500,000 by 2040, if the price hits $0.001, must have or purchase approximately 500 million SHIB tokens today.

Those targeting $1 million or $5 million require holdings of 1 billion SHIB or 5 billion SHIB tokens, respectively. The good news is that these tokens can be acquired at discounted prices, given SHIB’s current value.

At the current price of $0.00001276, holdings of 500 million, 1 billion, and 5 billion SHIB tokens cost about $6,380, $12,760, and $63,800, respectively.

The value of these tokens could soar to $500,000, $1 million, or $5 million if SHIB hits an ambitious target of $0.001 by 2040.

Prediction for SHIB’s Rise to $0.001

Meanwhile, clinching the $0.001 target is no easy feat, as it would require SHIB to eliminate two zeros from its price. It also demands a surge of 7,736% from the current value.

Assuming SHIB reaches this milestone and its total supply of 589.5 trillion tokens remains unchanged, its market capitalization would increase to approximately $589.5 billion from its current value of $7.51 billion.

Interestingly, several experts have predicted a surge in Shiba Inu’s value to the $0.001 target. Following Shiba Inu’s breakout in mid-October 2024, veteran market expert Crypto Sheriff set three bullish targets for SHIB, including $0.001.

Besides Crypto Sheriff, other experts, such as LuckSide, have issued a similar projection for SHIB, forecasting that its price will someday soar to the $0.001 mark.

Can SHIB Hit $0.001 Before 2040?

Although this analysis conservatively projects that SHIB might reach the $0.001 target by 2040, some experts believe it may occur sooner.

For instance, Krao predicted that SHIB would rally to $0.001 in the early part of this year, specifically January-February. However, the prediction did not materialize as expected. Changelly experts anticipate the $0.001 target will be reached between 2035 and 2039.

Furthermore, the Telegaon prediction platform estimates that SHIB will rise to the $0.001 mark by 2035, five years earlier.

Ross Ulbricht Cashes Out $31M Bitcoin Donation Within 24 Hours Amid Controversy

Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the infamous Silk Road marketplace, recently received a 300 Bitcoin donation into a wallet known to be soliciting support for his cause.

The move quickly drew attention across the crypto community. Specifically, some speculate that the coins could be part of Ulbricht’s hidden Silk Road stash, suggesting a self-donation. However, crypto investigator ZachXBT pushed back on these claims. According to him, the funds originated from wallets that utilized Jambler, a centralized Bitcoin mixing service.

Likely Source of the 300 BTC

ZachXBT revealed that the addresses had histories dating as far back as 2014 and 2019 and had remained dormant until activity resumed between April and May 2025. Both addresses deposited significant amounts into Jambler shortly before the 300 BTC donation was sent to Ulbricht.

ZachXBT explained that while the transaction probably isn’t a self-donation, as some have alleged, it raises concerns due to its origin from a flagged address associated with questionable sources. He also emphasized that privacy-focused users typically opt for decentralized mixers, not centralized ones like Jambler.

Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that Ulbricht has already cashed out the disputed 300 BTC. Data from Arkham shows he withdrew the tokens to an external wallet 24 hours ago. That wallet now holds only $1,968 in crypto.

Silk Road Ties Still Under the Microscope

Ulbricht, who was arrested in 2013 and sentenced in 2015 to a double life sentence plus 40 years, served 11 years in prison before receiving a pardon from U.S. President Donald Trump in January 2025. Despite his release, wallet activity connected to Silk Road continues to draw scrutiny.

In January, Coinbase director Conor Grogan reported discovering 430 BTC worth over $45 million in long-dormant wallets he believes are linked to Ulbricht.

These funds have remained untouched for over 13 years and were never seized by authorities. Arkham Intelligence later validated Grogan’s assessment, tying 14 wallets to Silk Road activity, including one holding over $9 million in BTC.

Beyond Donations

Ulbricht recently held an online auction featuring personal belongings from his pre-arrest and prison life. The event raised over $1.8 million in Bitcoin. Items he sold included a backpack, a sleeping bag, a drum, and original paintings created during his incarceration.

Bitcoin Dad Says Market Is Boring but Optimistic for $200K Target by Year End

0

As Bitcoin maintains a price above $100,000 for 25 consecutive days, analyst Bitcoin Dad insists it feels “boring,” but he still expects a major move by year-end.

Bitcoin traded lower over the past week, dropping from over $110,000 on May 27 to slightly above $104,000 by June 2. However, amid this short-term stagnation, attention has shifted to long-term projections, particularly from social media figure Bitcoin Dad, who continues to promote an ambitious price target for the asset.

Tracking Momentum Amid Boring Price Action

While Bitcoin’s price has hovered above $100,000 for 25 consecutive days, Bitcoin Dad described the market as “boring.”

Despite the perceived lack of volatility, he remains confident in a year-end price of over $200,000. From the current level of $104,167, Bitcoin would need to rally approximately 91.99% to reach this target. If achieved, Bitcoin’s market capitalization would expand to around $3.97 trillion, assuming the circulating supply remains constant.

Bitcoin Dad, who refers to himself as a Bitcoin millionaire, previously stated that price gains stem from “math, patience, and research.”

On May 8, he reminded his followers that Bitcoin still trades below $1,000,000, reinforcing his belief that it remains early in the asset’s adoption cycle. When asked about a $450,000 EOY projection from another market commentator, he indicated he would acknowledge being wrong if that figure materializes.

A Shared Target for Bitcoin Price

Other analysts also support this Bitcoin projection. Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan has projected a $200,000 price by the end of 2025. On May 14, he outlined multiple drivers behind this view, including inflows into spot ETFs, growing corporate interest, and recent government initiatives.

According to Hougan, ETFs acquired over 500,000 Bitcoin in the previous year, significantly outpacing the 165,000 new coins mined annually.

Meanwhile, the U.S. government holds over $17 billion in Bitcoin. A recent executive directive now tasks the Secretaries of the Treasury and Commerce with sourcing more Bitcoin without using taxpayer funds. Reports also confirm that Abu Dhabi purchased $460 million worth of Bitcoin in the form of BlackRock’s IBIT, and other governments are reportedly exploring similar allocations.

Analysts Maintain Long-Term Bullish Targets

In addition to Hougan and Bitcoin Dad, multiple market figures have issued parallel forecasts. Bernstein analyst Gautam Chhugani reiterated his firm’s $200,000 Bitcoin projection by 2025.

Elsewhere, Fred Krueger, a mathematician with a PhD from Stanford, posted on X that Bitcoin could reach a new all-time high within the week. Earlier in April, he assigned a 77% probability to Bitcoin achieving a new all-time high by 2025.

Bitcoin Stall as Ethereum Leads $286M Weekly Crypto Investment Inflow

0

Bitcoin pauses and XRP stalls again, as Ethereum surprisingly leads crypto investment fund flows with a cumulative weekly inflow surpassing $300 million.

James Butterfill, Head of Research at CoinShares, disclosed the cryptocurrency investment funds’ weekly flow in a blog post on Monday. The report shows that these vehicles, which offer exposure to digital assets, recorded a net inflow of $286 million in the previous week.

The positive flow extends the streak of crypto investment products to seven weeks, with their last outflow in mid-April. Remarkably, the funds have accrued a total of $10.9 billion during this impressive run, bringing the year-to-date total to $11.13 billion.

Ethereum Dethroned Bitcoin Last Week

Typically, investment vehicles that track the performance of Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, lead the proceedings weekly. However, Ethereum’s resilience in the face of market uncertainties and recent positive sentiments saw it emerge as the top performer last week.

Specifically, Ethereum investment funds raked in $321 million in the week between May 26 and June 2, continuing their strong investor traction. The inflows took their weekly streak to six weeks, the best run since December 2024.

Meanwhile, Ethereum funds have now recorded an MTD inflow of $889.5 million and a YTD of $1.4 billion. Generally, vehicles tracking the altcoin king now have a cumulative $14.3 billion in assets under management (AUM).

Furthermore, Bitcoin’s streak ended last week, as funds tracking the asset saw mild outflows. The products had been on a six-week streak, bringing in $9.6 billion during the run, before last week’s $8 million net outflow.

Butterfill highlighted the funds’ strong start to the week, before a macroeconomic headwind from the New York court’s declaration that the United States’ tariffs were illegal. Nonetheless, the asset maintains a healthy MTD inflow of $5.5 billion and $10.2 billion YTD.

For XRP, its outflow streak extended to two consecutive weeks. XRP-based funds recorded a net outflow of $28 million, further suggesting caution among investors towards the asset, which had been on an 80-week inflow streak until two weeks ago.

Other major flows saw Sui and Solana investment products draw in 2.2 million and $1.5 million, while users pulled $3.6 million and $2.4 million from Short Bitcoin and multi-asset funds, respectively.

Inflows per Asset
Inflows per Asset

Remarkably, the net AUM across crypto investment funds reduced last week despite the $286 million inflow. For context, it dropped from its all-time high of $187 billion to $177 billion, as asset prices reduced within the week.

Other Countries Step Up

Meanwhile, according to regional flows, the United States, as is typical, led inflows, attracting $199 million. These numbers are meager compared to last week’s massive inflows, which were spurred by the performance of Bitcoin spot ETFs.

Nonetheless, other countries showed serious momentum. For instance, Hong Kong’s inflows improved from $3.3 million two weeks ago to $54.8 million the previous week, with Germany’s $42.9 million also surpassing the previous week’s inflows.

Australia recorded a net inflow of $21.5 million, while Switzerland, Sweden, and Brazil continued their poor run of form.

Russia’s Largest Bank Debuts Bitcoin-Linked Bonds

Sberbank, Russia’s largest bank, has rolled out a new investment product that ties returns to Bitcoin price as Russia warms up to crypto.

The new structured bonds are available now to a limited group of qualified investors through the over-the-counter market, per a recent press release. Sberbank plans to offer these bonds on the Moscow Exchange soon, aiming to make them more transparent, easier to trade, and accessible to more investors.

Details of the Bitcoin-Tied Structured Bonds

Interestingly, these structured bonds present a unique two-way opportunity. Specifically, investors can benefit if Bitcoin’s value in dollars rises and also if the U.S. dollar strengthens against the ruble.

In addition, investors don’t need a crypto wallet or have to deal with unregulated foreign platforms. All transactions take place in rubles within Russia’s legal and financial system. This presents exposure to crypto without stepping outside the country’s regulatory framework.

Notably, Russia’s stance on crypto has continued to evolve in recent years. While cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are still banned for everyday payments within the country, they are now legal for cross-border transactions.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Russia announced a few days back that it now allows financial firms to offer crypto-focused investments to qualified investors. This opened the door for products like Sberbank’s new bonds.

Moreover, Sberbank confirmed that it is also preparing to launch Bitcoin futures through its investment platform, SberInvestments, on June 4. This move aligns with the Moscow Exchange’s launch of crypto-based instruments.

Sberbank Dabbling into Crypto Amid a Global Trend

Interestingly, this isn’t Sberbank’s first step into the scene. Since receiving a digital asset license from the Central Bank of Russia in 2022, the bank has issued and exchanged tokenized assets like gold and real estate.

It opened its digital asset platform to retail investors in 2023 and has handled billions of rubles in transactions. Sberbank also runs a blockchain network that works with Ethereum, aimed at supporting smart contracts and token creation. It began limited testing in 2022 and opened up public testing in early 2023.

Globally, Sberbank’s move mirrors a growing trend among top financial institutions. In the U.S., major banks like JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Citigroup are working on a joint stablecoin project designed to speed up cross-border payments.

HSBC introduced a crypto settlement product in Hong Kong, while BNY is investing heavily in blockchain for digital asset custody. Meanwhile, in March, BlackRock created a tokenized fund on Ethereum to expand investor access to blockchain-based assets, and it expanded to Solana shortly after.

Fundstrat’s Tom Lee Raises 2025 Bitcoin Target to $250K; Sets $3M as Long-Term Value

0

Tom Lee, Fundstrat’s head of research, is predicting that Bitcoin could potentially reach an ATH of $250,000 by year-end.

Lee shared his latest price outlook for Bitcoin during an interview on CNBC’s Squawk Box today, where he discussed the latest market trends for BTC.

Lee Remains Confident in Bitcoin Despite Recent Dip

During the interview, Squawk Box’s host Joe Kernen highlighted Bitcoin’s recent price swings, which saw the asset plunge from its all-time high of $111,970 to the $104,000 mark. Despite the retracement, Lee remained optimistic about the asset’s prospects, asserting that Bitcoin is consolidating around this level.

He suggested that Bitcoin has great stats, given that 95% of BTC has already been mined. For perspective, roughly 19.87 million Bitcoins, representing around 95% of Bitcoin’s maximum supply of 21 million coins, are currently in circulation.

Despite nearly all Bitcoin currently in circulation, Lee suggested that 95% of the global population does not own BTC. In his view, there is a huge imbalance between Bitcoin’s demand and supply.

Therefore, he speculated that more potential buyers could join the Bitcoin bandwagon over the next 10 years.

Bitcoin to Hit $250K By Year-End.

As a result, he predicted that Bitcoin has massive upside potential this year. Notably, Kernen asked him whether he still thinks Bitcoin will reach its initial forecast of $150,000 by the end of the year.

In response, Lee speculated that Bitcoin could surpass the $150,000 territory and aim for lofty targets of around $200,000 to $250,000. Achieving the $200,000 and $250,000 targets would require Bitcoin’s price to increase by roughly 92.06% to 140.08% from its current level.

Lee Forecasts Bitcoin’s Terminal Value

When asked to forecast Bitcoin’s ‘terminal value’ after the last Bitcoin is mined by 2140, Lee predicted that BTC would at least match gold’s valuation of $23 trillion.

Based on this projection, Bitcoin could trade at a minimum of $1.15 million, assuming only 20 million BTC are in circulation. The use of 20 million BTC rather than the maximum of 21 million is based on assumptions that the entire total supply will never be in circulation due to the permanent loss of certain portions of the asset.

Further, Lee sets bullish terminal targets for Bitcoin, forecasting that it could soar to $2 million – $3 million or even higher. This puts his average terminal target for Bitcoin at $2.5 million, representing a surge of 2,300% from the current value.

As previously reported, leading asset manager VanEck also predicted Bitcoin’s potential rise to the $3 million target. According to Matthew Sigel, VanEck’s head of digital asset research, Bitcoin will reach the $3 million target by 2050, 25 years from now.

Here’s the Short-Term Level XRP Must Close Above to Trigger Bull Run Back to $3

As the crypto market navigates another bearish phase, XRP is again in the spotlight, with renewed commentary about its price potential.

Although XRP didn’t benefit significantly from Bitcoin’s surge in May, it is now dipping alongside BTC as the leading crypto cools off and corrects previous gains. Over the weekend, XRP came close to breaching the $2 psychological level. Its price dipped to $2.0855 and has only recovered to $2.15 at press time. At this level, XRP is nursing a weekly loss of 8%.

Meanwhile, analyst EGRAG recently posted an update on XRP’s performance as it undergoes a slight recovery. He pinpointed the crucial level XRP must close above to spark a renewed surge toward the $3 mark.

The Line in the Sand for XRP Bulls

Specifically, EGRAG identified $2.30 as the short-term resistance level that could determine XRP’s next major move. According to him, a 3-day candle close above this mark, and above the 21-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA), would confirm a double bottom pattern and ignite bullish momentum.

EGRAG noted that this breakout would unlock targets at $2.50, $2.65, and the much-anticipated $3.00 level. These levels align with previous key resistance zones and Fibonacci extensions observed on XRP’s macro chart.

Notably, with XRP trading at $2.15, it needs just about a 7% gain to reclaim $2.30, which could determine its short-term uptrend. However, with the market largely bearish at the moment, even this modest green candle may pose a challenge for XRP.

Support Holds at $2.07 Amid Market Pullback

Despite the dip across the broader market, XRP has maintained support at $2.07. According to EGRAG, this level is critical for the bullish setup to remain valid. On the 3-day timeframe, this level has acted as the base of the double bottom formation. The analyst stressed that sustained defense by the bulls could pave the way for an upward move.

EGRAG XRP 3-day chart

Larger Wave Structure Points to 1,200% Rally

EGRAG’s chart also illustrates an Elliott Wave structure, highlighting that XRP has completed a corrective Phase 2 and may now be entering a new impulse Wave 3.

Notably, the correction in this wave represents the pullback XRP has experienced since rallying to $3.40 back in January. During the correction, XRP dipped to lows around $1.60 before rebounding above $2.

However, its recent price movement has been slow, with growing anticipation for when the coin might resume the kind of dramatic run seen in the final two months of 2024.

EGRAG specifically projected a 1,200% rally that could push XRP’s price to $25 via this Elliott Wave breakout.

Meanwhile, analyst XForceGlobal used a similar wave structure to forecast even more bullish targets. He identified $40 as a promising outlook while adding that even $10 is very conservative based on the current technical pattern.

Expert Explains Why XRP Escrow is Not Bad for Price: “It’s Starving the Market”

An XRP community pundit has suggested that the Ripple escrow system does not harm the XRP price, arguing that it starves the market of more tokens.

With Ripple holding billions of XRP, some have argued that this creates a centralized system, raising fears about potential price suppression.

Critics such as Bitcoin maximalists claim Ripple’s monthly escrow releases act as token dumps, introducing supply pressure. Notably, even some within the XRP community believe these monthly releases are suppressing price growth.

Ripple Escrow Not Flooding the Market

However, one XRP-focused analyst has presented a different take, recently arguing that Ripple is not flooding the market but actually holding tokens back, and that could lead to a major price surge down the road.

The analyst, known for running the “All Things XRP” community-driven account, believes many people misunderstand XRP’s escrow system. He pointed out that XRP has a fixed supply of 100 billion tokens. Over 56 billion are already in the market, while the rest remain locked in escrow.

For context, back in 2017, Ripple locked 55 billion XRP in escrow to avoid trust issues and address fears about oversupply. The analyst said this move was not about hiding tokens but about making the supply predictable.

Every month, Ripple unlocks 1 billion XRP, but they rarely use all of it. Instead, they return the unused portion to escrow, pushing the timeline forward. According to him, this method does not overwhelm the market. Instead, it helps manage the supply more carefully.

He highlighted that the company only uses about 200 to 300 million XRP each month. Specifically, they leverage these tokens to support market makers, run their payment service, and help grow the XRP ecosystem. The rest goes right back into escrow. He called this smart supply control, not dumping, as many believe.

Escrow Essentially “Starving” the XRP Market

At the time of the commentary, Ripple holds about 36.5 billion XRP in escrow, down from the original 55 billion. The analyst said this steady release shows discipline and transparency.

He pushed back on the idea that escrow hurts the price. Instead, he believes it helps keep things stable. As the escrow shrinks and demand for XRP grows, especially with use cases like ODL and the possible introduction of ETFs, he said the slow supply could fall behind rising demand. If that happens, it could create a supply squeeze that drives the price higher.

In addition, he also addressed fears about centralization. While Ripple still owns around 46% of XRP’s total supply, he said the escrow system puts limits on the company’s control. Every unlock is tracked on-chain and available to the public, which adds trust and accountability.

Community Suggestions

Meanwhile, some XRP supporters have floated ideas for how Ripple could completely address the escrow dilemma. They have suggested unlocking more tokens to reward ecosystem projects or even burning the entire escrowed supply to create scarcity.

However, David Schwartz, Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer, has pushed back on those ideas. He pointed to a case from 2019 when the Stellar Development Foundation burned half of XLM’s supply, about 55 billion tokens.

Despite the move, Stellar’s price didn’t rise. He argued that a similar XRP burn wouldn’t move the needle either and would just waste valuable resources.

Essentially, the analyst behind “All Things XRP” sees the escrow as a smart way to manage supply, not a problem for price. He believes that if demand picks up while Ripple continues limiting supply, XRP could face a major price breakout once the escrow runs dry.

Ripple CEO Says Ripple Will Rewire the Entire Banking System

0

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has urged the XRP ecosystem to focus on the big picture rather than engaging in an unreasonable rivalry with Bitcoin.

Ripple is building a transformative ecosystem, and Garlinghouse is stressing collaboration rather than competition. In his speech at the recently concluded XRP Las Vegas conference, he noted that Ripple is building an ecosystem that will transform the entire banking system, which should be a delight to the community.

“We Underestimate How Big That Is”: Ripple CEO

Ripple modeled its business to bridge the gap between the global financial institutions and blockchain technology. While the nascent industry focuses on removing monetary centralization and control tied to banks, Ripple’s innovation lies in involving them in the future of finance.

The private firm aims to innovate cross-border payments by bringing them on-chain, thereby making remittance seamless and efficient. This eradicates the need for intermediaries, pre-funding, and slow global fund transfer.

Citing the company’s CTO David Schwartz, Garlinghouse noted that this ploy would “rewire the entire banking system,” making Ripple a giant in the cross-border payment and remittance business.

Remarkably, this initiative should be sufficient to drive XRP adoption, and the CEO emphasized that it should be a big enough appeal to the ecosystem’s enthusiasts.

“We underestimate how big that change is and how profound it is,” the Ripple CEO said, stressing that it would all make sense if the community looks back in 10 to 20 years from now.

Nonetheless, prominent XRP community figure Vale has suggested that it would not take up to ten years before this revolution comes to full effect. In a tweet, he argued that Ripple is already changing the global financial system NOW.

Indeed, Ripple has made considerable progress in pushing its business mainstream, so much so that the US Faster Payment Council (FPC) mentioned them as a crucial firm that would drive a swift, cheap, and transparent cross-border payment system. Morgan Stanley has also identified the fintech as a strong competitor for SWIFT, which handles over $5 trillion in daily transactions.

Collaboration Over Competition

Meanwhile, Garlinghouse called for collaboration with not just the Bitcoin ecosystem but the entire crypto landscape. Notably, he is already putting his words into action with a teased partnership between Ripple and Cardano.

The CEO stated that blockchain technology is not a zero-sum game and XRP would thrive even if Bitcoin does. He stressed growing the whole pie and ensuring that cryptocurrencies gain the mainstream adoption that they deserve.

“…and we get there by being collaborative and working together and not against each other,” he added.

Interestingly, Garlinghouse has repeatedly stressed that Bitcoin is not XRP’s enemy. For the uninitiated, he donated the Skull of Satoshi to proponents of the leading cryptocurrency as a peace offering for the long-standing feud between the two communities.
