Ulster University Report Suggests Bank of France Testing Ripple Private Ledger for Potential Digital Euro CBDC Use

An academic report by Professor Daniel Broby of Ulster University has reintroduced discussions around Ripple’s involvement in the development of the digital euro CBDC.

The report, titled “Central Bank Digital Currencies – Lessons from China,” presents a study of China’s digital yuan testing but also includes a comparison of transaction throughput among digital currency systems. This comparison connected Ripple’s private ledger to European CBDC experimentation.

Ulster University Report Suggests Euro CBDC Testing on Ripple Ledger

The paper, recently spotlighted by WrathofKahneman, a notable voice in the XRP community, mentions Ripple’s private ledger as one of the tested platforms for the digital euro by the Bank of France.

Ripple designed the ledger for central bank use cases, and it delivers 1,500 transactions per second, well above public blockchain options like Ethereum 2.0, and competing against Visa’s capabilities.

While the report does not suggest there is official adoption, its inclusion of Ripple’s technology among CBDC test platforms by the Bank of France has brought renewed speculation over Ripple’s potential involvement in the digital euro CBDC project.

For context, the Ulster University report focuses primarily on the e-CNY, China’s retail digital currency. It presents a theory-based analysis of its design, phased rollout, and impact on monetary policy and privacy.

Previous Developments Lead to Unconfirmed Speculation

Yet, in assessing global CBDC efforts, Broby’s included Ripple’s private ledger. This mention arrives amid a series of earlier disclosures and community observations that have hinted at Ripple’s involvement with the European Central Bank’s digital euro project.

In February 2022, the Digital Euro Association (DEA) announced a partnership with Ripple to collaborate on CBDC innovation, focusing on technological design. Also, in March 2023, Ripple’s Head of Digital Currency Product, Anthony Ralphs, contributed to a DEA whitepaper exploring privacy features in CBDC frameworks.

By June 2024, Ripple CBDC advisor Antony Welfare publicly highlighted key components of the digital euro project, including progress on privacy, offline transaction capabilities, and standardized rules.

Additionally, several posts on X from last year claimed that the Central Bank of France had praised Ripple’s infrastructure. However, critics indicated that these documents originated in 2022.

Ripple’s Confirmed CBDC Involvements

However, despite these signals and indirect acknowledgments, no formal confirmation has been issued by either Ripple or European monetary authorities that Ripple’s technology is officially selected or integrated into the digital euro’s development.

Nonetheless, Ripple’s involvement in other CBDC projects has been clear. In 2021, Bhutan’s Royal Monetary Authority launched a CBDC pilot on Ripple’s private ledger. That same year, Ripple partnered with the government of Palau to explore a USD-backed stablecoin.

More recently, Colombia’s central bank began testing Ripple’s ledger for financial use cases, while in 2023, Ripple announced CBDC pilot collaborations with both the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Central Bank of Montenegro.

“Doubt Me at Your Own Risk”: Analysts Who Predicted XRP Rally at $0.5 Now Project Surge Above $3

0

Top market participants who called the XRP rally at 50 cents remain confident that the token will soon extend its rally above the next psychological mark.

XRP has made significant progress in the past year, spurred by renewed bullishness and ecosystem growth. According to CoinMarketCap data, the coin is up 410% year over year, rallying from its price of around $0.50 to the current valuation.

Notwithstanding, market watchers remain confident about XRP attaining higher prices. Specifically, Vandell Aljarrah, the co-founder financial consultancy firm Black Swan Capitalist, has predicted a rally to at least XRP’s all-time high.

Market Expert Says Higher

In a Tuesday tweet, Aljarrah recollected earlier speculations that have come to fruition. He stressed that he identified XRP’s potential swelling at $0.45 and projected the impending rally.

Notably, the token last traded around the price mark late last year before its historic November rally to near $2. Interestingly, XRP extended the gains to a multi-year price high of $3.39 in January before entering an accumulation phase.

Now, Aljarrah has predicted that the token will surely break above $3.40, a 31.7% rally from the current market price. While he did not give any premise for this possible uptick, the strategist suggested that data backs his claims.

Analysis Validates Possible Rally Above $3

Meanwhile, Crypto Michael, popularly known as the “Swing King,” has presented an analysis predicting a similar rally above $3. In a parallel tweet, he also mentioned the disbelief among some market participants when he previously called for an XRP price surge at $0.5.

The experienced trader stated that XRP is on the cusp of a second parabolic expansion to above $3, implying a bullish continuation from a recent structural break. For perspective, he highlighted an earlier analysis from July 2024, where he noted that XRP could be breaking from a 7-year bull pennant when prices were at $0.58.

Eventually, the asset defied the pattern in November, catalyzing the current bullishness. As a result, Crypto Michael remains upbeat that a second phase of rapid price development is imminent. “Doubt me at your own risk,” he warned.

Is $3 Just the Beginning?

Interestingly, other analysts have called for far higher prices for XRP, suggesting that a rally above $3 could be a fraction of what is on the horizon. For context, analyst JD predicted a fivefold price rally, possibly to $12.45, citing super bullish MACD and Stoch RSI signals.

Furthermore, a report from The Crypto Basic highlighted an analysis insisting that XRP could easily surpass $10 this cycle. The commentary explained the token would easily trade at $17.8 if it reclaims 2018’s 31.33% market dominance.

At the time of writing, XRP trades at $2.58, up 3.17% in the past 24 hours.

Can Whales Drive Bitcoin to $110K? 83,105 BTC Accumulated During Price Surge

0

On-chain data from Santiment indicates that large Bitcoin wallets are accumulating BTC, while smaller holders are reducing their positions, even as Bitcoin’s price continues to climb.

Bitcoin has sustained its upward momentum following a strong rally last week, briefly surpassing $105,000.

The crypto asset began its ascent in the final week of April, breaking through the $90,000 level and reclaiming key psychological thresholds above $100,000. As of today, Bitcoin is trading at $103,768.

However, beyond price action, wallet data reveals a divergence in behavior between large and small holders, pointing to a potential shift in market sentiment.

BTC Whales & Sharks Accumulate as Shrimp Drop

For instance, the market intelligence platform Santiment has tracked wallet activity showing contrasting trends in accumulation. Larger wallet addresses, specifically those holding between 10 and 10,000 BTC—labeled as Whales & Sharks—have significantly increased their holdings.

Over the past month, this group collectively added 83,105 BTC. This figure is particularly notable based on both volume and speed.

Image
Bitcoin accumulation chart from Santiment

In contrast, smaller holders, referred to as Shrimp, which are wallets with 0.1 BTC or less, have sold off approximately 387 BTC during the same period. This selling behavior reflects profit-taking, largely among retail participants anticipating a potential short-term top.

Santiment’s broader analysis further notes that even wallet tiers slightly above the 0.1 BTC mark showed similar tendencies, signaling caution among smaller investors despite the overall market strength.

Bitcoin Price to $110,000?

However, with the continued aggressive accumulation from large wallets, Santiment suggests that a breach of Bitcoin’s $110,000 all-time high may be approaching. Recent macroeconomic developments further support this bullish outlook.

Notably, President Trump announced a reduction in tariffs on small shipments arriving in the U.S. from Hong Kong and mainland China. This move followed a bilateral agreement between the U.S. and China to temporarily lower tariffs for a 90-day period.

Holding Behavior Varies by Time Held

Additional insights from analytics firm IntoTheBlock confirm shifting behaviors based on how long Bitcoin holders retain their assets. Long-term holders, those keeping BTC for over a year, have recently shown a positive change of 1.24%. This suggests consistent accumulation by investor profiles often associated with whales.

Bitcoin Balance by Time Held

Meanwhile, mid-term holders or cruisers have decreased by 2.84%, indicating active selling. These wallets typically represent those who held Bitcoin between one and twelve months.

Similarly, short-term holders, traders holding Bitcoin for less than one month, have declined slightly by 0.12%. This pattern reinforces the findings from Santiment, showing increased retail selloffs following recent price gains.

Exchange Flow Data Points to Investor Confidence

Further supporting these trends, IntoTheBlock reports continued net withdrawals of Bitcoin from exchanges. This pattern often signals investor preference to store assets securely rather than prepare them for sale.

Over the last 24 hours, exchanges saw a net outflow of 3,190 BTC. The 7-day outflow reached 1,380 BTC, while the 30-day period recorded 1,670 BTC in net withdrawals.

The consistent outflow trend aligns with accumulation patterns noted by Santiment and long-term holder behavior tracked by IntoTheBlock. Altogether, these signals point to ongoing strategic accumulation by large investors amid short-term selling from retail participants.

No XRP as Ripple to Use RLUSD in Hidden Road Deal for 300 Financial Institutions

0

Ripple’s latest blog post about RLUSD’s use case in the Hidden Road setup has triggered concerns among XRP proponents, questioning the coin’s role in the deal.

On Tuesday, Ripple published a blog post highlighting the use case of stablecoins like RLUSD. The San Francisco-based payments company emphasized that stablecoins bridge the gap between DeFi and TradFi.

RLUSD’s Role in Hidden Road Setup

The blog post further highlighted RLUSD’s role in the Hidden Road deal. Recall that Ripple reached an agreement with Hidden Road to acquire the prime broker for $1.25 billion.

In its recent blog post, Ripple stated that Hidden Road, which clears over $3 trillion for 300 financial institutions annually, will leverage RLUSD as a collateral asset across its prime brokerage platform.

Meanwhile, part of the deal would see Hidden Road transition its post-trade activities onto XRPL, XRP’s underlying blockchain, allowing it to reduce costs. With XRPL handling Hidden Road’s post-trades, the prime broker would leverage XRP to pay all post-trade transaction fees.

The company initially disclosed this in April when it announced the Hidden Road acquisition. At the time, the disclosure elicited major controversy, with some community members expressing concerns about the company sidelining XRP.

Community Asks About XRP Role in Hidden Road Deal

These concerns have resurfaced with Ripple reiterating that Hidden Road will use RLUSD as a collateral asset across its platform.

Several users have once again questioned XRP’s role in the Hidden Road setup, with some suggesting that XRP’s function is now limited to paying transaction fees.

Earlier this month, XRP community member Elena Schoen echoed this sentiment on X. She indicated that while RLUSD’s utility spans cross-border settlements to multi-fiat onboarding, XRP is used to settle transactions only on the XRP Ledger (XRPL).

According to her, XRP was once the preferred bridge asset on XRPL. However, she suggested that the coin is gradually losing its relevance, alleging that RLUSD is gaining traction as Ripple’s favorite.

For context, Ripple launched the USD-pegged stablecoin on the XRPL in December 2024. After its launch, it was integrated into Ripple’s payments solution, giving financial institutions access to a fiat-backed digital currency with zero volatility.

Since its launch, RLUSD has gained widespread adoption across the broader crypto market and has been listed on major exchanges like Gemini, Uphold, Bitso, and MoonPay. Interestingly, thanks to the Hidden Road acquisition, it is now poised to become the first stablecoin to enable cross-margining between traditional markets and digital assets.

Ripple Execs Dismiss Concerns

While XRP proponents are concerned that RLUSD is gradually replacing their favorite coin, Ripple executives have continued to dismiss this assertion.

Earlier this year, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said RLUSD and XRP would complement each other. He asserted that both have different functions, noting that while XRP functions as a bridge asset to provide liquidity between two fiat currencies, RLUSD serves as an on-chain fiat.

Additionally, Ripple CTO David Schwartz stated that RLUSD is good for XRP rather than harmful. He emphasized that stablecoins like RLUSD are crucial in maintaining price stability. The Ripple CTO also mentioned that XRP would continue to render key functions like auto-bridging that favor its liquidity.

Global Finance Body IIF Recognizes Ripple and XRP as Alternative for Cross-border Payments

The Institute of International Finance (IIF), a major voice in global finance policy, recently acknowledged Ripple and XRP as viable alternatives for cross-border payments.

This recognition appeared in the IIF’s response to the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) consultation through its Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI), under the G20’s roadmap to modernize and enhance global payments.

WrathofKahneman (WOK), a well-known commentator within the XRP community, called attention to this recognition in a recent post. WOK noted that while the paper acknowledged Ripple’s blockchain-based model using XRP, it did not reference RLUSD, Ripple’s newly launched stablecoin, despite mentioning other stablecoins.

He suggested that this omission was likely due to the timing, as RLUSD only launched in December 2024, barely a month before the IIF document was submitted. Since then, RLUSD has already been integrated into Ripple Payments, Ripple’s enterprise-grade cross-border payment infrastructure.

Ripple’s Use of XRP a Viable Alternative for Cross-border Payments

The IIF’s consultation paper described Ripple’s technology and XRP as providing a new infrastructure for moving value across borders. The document mentioned XRP’s utility as a non-stablecoin crypto asset, presenting cost and speed benefits.

Ripple’s system, which bypasses the inefficiencies of traditional correspondent banking, uses the XRP Ledger to enable near-instant settlement. This model is particularly useful in corridors underserved by conventional banking systems.

Notably, the IIF document discussed multiple innovations that are looking to improve cross-border transactions. It mentioned efforts to implement global messaging standards like ISO 20022, initiatives like Project Agorá, and the Regulated Liability Network.

IIF Mentions Stablecoins

The paper also highlighted stablecoins more generally as another tool in the cross-border payment toolkit. It specifically referenced Circle’s USDC, PayPal’s USD-backed stablecoin (PYUSD), and Coinbase’s Layer 2 blockchain solution, Base.

It mentioned these platforms for their ability to execute international transfers at low costs and high speeds. Interestingly, Ripple recently offered to purchase Circle for $4 to $5 billion, but reports suggest the firm refused the offer.

Meanwhile, RLUSD’s absence from the stablecoin mentions appears to be a matter of timing rather than relevance, as the stablecoin’s launch only occurred shortly before the paper’s release.

Ripple and XRP Gaining Recognition

Contextually, Ripple and XRP boast a growing presence in the international payments conversation. In a recent report, MasterCard recognized Ripple’s partner SBI Remit for using XRP as a bridge currency in its remittance services.

Moreover, The Crypto Basic confirmed last year that a previous report from the World Bank, which discussed digital currencies for cross-border payments, highlighted XRP as a token that boosts utility in cross-border transactions.

Furthermore, both the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Economic Forum discussed Ripple’s blockchain and XRP’s utility in unlocking capital that would otherwise be tied up in inefficient legacy systems. Also, Morgan Stanley considered Ripple as a viable alternative to SWIFT in international payments.

Market Expert Predicts New Timeline for XRP to Hit $100

While market participants await an XRP run beyond its all-time high, some analysts are already projecting timelines for a rally to three digits.

Notably, XRP has been on an upward trajectory since May 8 amid the ongoing market-wide recovery campaign, which has seen Bitcoin (BTC) breach the $100,000 milestone. Despite still trading within the $2 region, XRP has slipped into the upper end of the price mark for the first time in nearly two months.

Market Expert Predicts Timeline for XRP to $100

As optimism around a rally to $3 builds, some market commentators are already eyeing the $100 mark. Interestingly, one such market commentator, BarriC, predicts bold timelines for the crypto asset to claim the $100 price milestone.

In a statement on X, BarriC suggested that the $100 price level would serve as the stepping stone for a much greater rally toward four digits. Considering this potential, the analyst insisted that an XRP rally to $1,000 would come sooner than many expect.

According to him, XRP would quickly push to the $100 price. He expects this to materialize this year, 2025, a bold forecast, considering XRP would need to appreciate by a massive 3,821% from the current price of $3.55 to claim the $100 milestone.

This remains one of the most audacious predictions around the $100 price. Notably, while others have presented forecasts of XRP reaching $100, most have suggested that it could take a few years and a massive expansion of the overall global crypto market.

Contrasting Timelines

For instance, finance expert Linda Jones sees XRP hitting $100 but does not expect it to happen this year. Moreover, in March 2023, CryptoCharged’s Chief Operating Officer, Matthew Brienen, boldly predicted that XRP could trade anywhere from $100 to $1,000. However, he believes this will happen in the next ten years.

Meanwhile, analysts at crypto platforms Telegaon and Changelly also see the $100 materializing, but, like others, they do not expect it to happen soon. While Changelly analysts believe XRP could reach $100 in 2034, nine years from now, those at Telegaon expect it to happen between 2035 and 2040.

Only a Steppingstone

While BarriC presents the most ambitious timeline among market experts, he also believes the $100 price is only a stepping stone toward greater levels. In his recent commentary, he suggested that once XRP claims $100 in 2025, it would immediately skyrocket from this level to the $1,000 mark by 2026/2027.

Notably, most analysts, even those bullish on XRP, believe a rally to $100 this year is near impossible. Earlier this year, finance expert Rajat Soni criticized people predicting an XRP to $100 price in this cycle. According to him, such individuals have a mental disability.

For context, XRP currently trades for $2.55 with a market cap of $150 billion. It would need a 3,821% increase to reach $100 from here, with its market cap soaring to $5.855 billion, higher than the overall crypto market cap of $3.33 trillion. Meanwhile, Jake Claver insisted that even if XRP hits $100, it won’t change an investor’s life if they don’t have a proper exit strategy.

Here Are Shiba Inu Price Predictions for 2027 and 2030

0

Multiple entities like Changelly and Telegaon reveal what Shiba Inu (SHIB) could be worth in the next few years, specifically by 2027 and 2030.

Shiba Inu’s recent rally has elevated investors’ hopes in SHIB, prompting many to anticipate the asset’s price in the next few years.

Recall that Shiba Inu began its latest price surge on May 8. Before the rally, the price was hovering around $0.000012. Like most crypto assets, Shiba Inu rallied sharply on May 8, eventually hitting a multi-month high of $0.00001720.

Although SHIB has retraced slightly to the $0.000016 mark, investors have remained optimistic about the asset’s prospects. Based on this renewed optimism, we consulted multiple entities for their Shiba Inu predictions for 2027 and 2030.

While some of these predictions suggest that Shiba Inu could reach loftier targets within the timeline, others seem bearish.

Shiba Inu 2027 Prediction

For many investors, 2027 is crucial because it comes before the next Bitcoin Halving, slated for 2028.

According to Changelly, Shiba Inu’s price would hover around the $0.00004 mark by 2027. Experts at Changelly set Shiba Inu’s 2027 minimum price target at $0.0000407 and projected that SHIB would hit a peak of $0.0000487 the same year. With Shiba Inu trading at $0.00001632, hitting the maximum target marks a 198.4% upsurge from the current value.

However, prediction platform Telegaon seems more optimistic about SHIB’s prospects for 2027. The prediction platform forecasts that SHIB will trade at a minimum price of $0.0000945 and rise to a maximum target of $0.000198 by 2027. The maximum target marks a 1,113% gain from the current price.

On the other hand, the leading chatbot model ChatGPT issued four different predictions for SHIB, setting bearish, moderate, bullish, and extremely bullish targets for 2027.

The chatbot set a bearish target of $0.000025, a moderate price of $0.000085, a bull prediction of $0.00017, and an extremely bullish projection of $0.00034. The extremely bullish target of $0.00034 marks a 1,983% increase from Shiba Inu’s current value.

As previously reported, ChatGPT projected that Shiba Inu could trade at $0.0008 by 2027. It suggested that market trends and ecosystem developments could drive SHIB’s 2027 price action.

2030 Prediction

These entities also set different targets for Shiba Inu by the end of the decade–2030. By 2030, Changelly experts expect SHIB to be valued between $0.000123 and $0.000150. This represents a 653%-819 % growth from the current price of $0.00001632.

According to Telegaon, Shiba Inu could hit a minimum target of $0.000593 by 2030 and subsequently rise to $0.000712 in the same year, representing growths of 3,533% and 4,262%, respectively.

Further, a panel of 26 industry experts set a price target of $0.0001971 by 2030, marking an upsurge of 1,107% from the current value.

Meanwhile, ChatGPT sees Shiba Inu hitting bearish and moderate targets of $0.00004 and $0.00017 by 2030, respectively. Interestingly, the chatbot set bullish and extremely bullish targets for SHIB in the same year.

According to ChatGPT, Shiba Inu could soar to a bullish target of $0.00043. It speculated that the price could hover between $0.00085 and $0.0017 under a highly bullish scenario.

The chatbot expects factors like Shibarium’s progress, increased SHIB burns, and broader crypto market dynamics as potential catalysts for Shiba Inu’s surge to these lofty targets by 2030.

Nonetheless, it warned that these predictions are purely speculative while encouraging investors to conduct due diligence before investing in cryptos.

Analyst Reveals XRP Ultimate Selling Strategy Toward $33 As Historical Data Shows XRP Uptrend Still Intact

Historical data shows the XRP uptrend remains intact, as a well-known market analyst shares his ultimate selling strategy.

While XRP has struggled at the $2 mark, a chart from EGRAG indicates that the asset might still have room for more growth. He presented this chart months back, but recently called attention to it, showing that it still holds relevance.

XRP Uptrend Still Intact

The chart reveals a white support trendline that has historically dictated the direction of XRP’s momentum. This trendline acts as a threshold between bullish and bearish activity.

In 2017, XRP remained below this trendline for several months until it broke above it in March of that year. What followed was a notable uptrend, albeit briefly interrupted in May 2017.

Despite the pullback, XRP stayed above the trendline during a six-month consolidation phase, indicating that the uptrend was still intact. After six months of consolidation, it recovered, ultimately skyrocketing to its all-time high of $3.40 in January 2018.

Now, the chart suggests that XRP is mirroring that past movement. Since 2022, XRP had remained under the trendline until a breakout occurred in November 2024 during a significant rally.

Subsequently, the asset surged to about $3.30 in January 2025. Since then, the price has pulled back and entered a consolidation phase around the $2 mark. However, XRP continues to trade above the trendline, showing that the broader bullish trend remains intact.

Potential Take-Profit Targets

The chart indicates the consolidation is a natural and healthy pause within an ongoing uptrend. EGRAG believes XRP has the potential for more upside.

XRP 1M Chart | EGRAG Crypto

To identify potential exit points, he highlighted four key take-profit targets using Fibonacci extensions. These targets include $4.42 at the 1.414 extension, $6.56 at the 1.618 level, $8.39 from the 1.272 mark, $13.74 representing another 1.414 point, and a final projection at $27.86 based on the 1.618 extension.

Diverse Selling Strategies to Pick From

Alongside his chart, EGRAG presented an exit strategy that could help investors make proper decisions. He categorized the selling model into several strategies for investors to pick the one that best suits their goals.

One method involves percentage-based selling, where an investor might liquidate their holdings in fixed portions at predetermined targets.

For instance, a typical setup might include selling 25% at the first take-profit point, another 25% at the second, continuing with 25% at the third, and holding onto the remaining 25% as a “moon bag” for potential future gains.

Notably, another strategy is incremental selling, where the investor sells a small percentage, such as 5%, every time the price increases by a fixed amount, like $0.50. The investor has the liberty to determine the percentage to sell and the rate at which to sell.

More Conservative and Riskier XRP Exit Strategies

Meanwhile, EGRAG presented a more conservative strategy in which investors will look to recover the initial capital first before carrying out any of the other methods. Alternatively, some may prefer to set a personal price target and exit entirely when that figure is hit.

Further, EGRAG suggested that those who are ready to take on greater risk could rotate profits into low- to mid-cap altcoins to chase exponential returns, though he cautions that this path requires an understanding of the projects involved.

He also acknowledged that some may choose to remain long-term holders, especially if there’s no immediate financial need. In such cases, continuous accumulation over a 10- to 15-year horizon might be preferable. Others might even adopt a generational wealth approach to retain their XRP holdings to pass down to heirs.

While these options offer flexibility, EGRAG also outlined his personal strategy. His current approach begins with recovering his initial investment through percentage-based selling.

From there, he intends to unlock 10 percent of his total XRP holdings at specific price targets. This 10 percent release will repeat at each target point until XRP reaches the $27 to $33 price range. At that point, he plans to hold onto the remainder of his holdings to benefit from any continued upside beyond his highest projections.

Analyst Shares How He Know’s XRP Will Easily Breach $10+

How high XRP will perform in this cycle continues to be a subject of heated debate among market analysts.

The discussion regained momentum after XRP hit a multi-month high of $2.65 yesterday. While some analysts are calling for conservative targets around $5, others believe even a $10 projection underestimates XRP’s potential.

Currently, new perspectives are emerging that argue for an “easy” $10 scenario based on XRP’s growing dominance in the overall crypto market.

Why XRP Will Easily Break $10 This Cycle

In a tweet, widely followed market analyst “DK64Trades” claimed XRP could easily break into the double-digit price range by the end of this cycle. He shared this view after comparing XRP’s current market dominance to its historical levels, particularly when it last reached peak value.

He noted that in January 2018, when XRP traded at $3.84, its market dominance stood at approximately 31.33%. However, DK64Trades pointed out that when XRP reached $3.34 in January 2025, close to the 2018 all-time high, its market dominance was only around 5%.

Given this significant gap in dominance despite similar price action, he projects a scenario where XRP’s dominance could expand massively, similar to 2018, which could lead to a substantial increase in price.

Specifically, he indicated that XRP’s dominance had dropped sixfold from the previous peak. If the asset recovered this dominance, its market cap would sit at $1.04 trillion, considering the global crypto market cap currently around $3.33 trillion. Notably, this new valuation translates to a price of $17.8 for XRP.

Other Analysts’ Views on XRP’s Potential Dominance

In a separate commentary, Sistine Research also highlighted XRP’s historical dominance to argue for its upside potential. Sistine Research projects XRP’s dominance could rise from its current level of around 4% to between 12% and 32%. This outlook implies a possible 3x to 8x increase in XRP’s price.

Image
XRP projected dominance chart by Sistine Research

Interestingly, analyst “Avechristrex” believes a market dominance range of 12% to 19% would be a good point to take profits and exit the market.

Image

Meanwhile, other analysts are proposing even bolder price forecasts for XRP, even with lower dominance, based on expected peak valuations of the broader crypto market by the end of this cycle.

Higher XRP Price Despite Lower Market Share

In a recent post, analyst Capt Toblerone projected the crypto market could reach $35 trillion this season. He expects XRP’s market cap to hit $1.25 trillion. Under this scenario, he predicts Bitcoin’s dominance, currently above 62%, will drop significantly to as low as 16.94%.

Historically, such a drop in Bitcoin’s market share has allowed altcoins to gain dominance and reach new price highs.

Notably, Capt Toblerone’s analysis, which calls for a $1.25 trillion XRP valuation in a $35 trillion crypto bull market, implies a reduced dominance for XRP. Even so, this valuation would equate to a $22 unit price for XRP, with its market dominance shrinking to just 3.5%.

For other leading cryptocurrencies like Ethereum and Solana, Capt Toblerone projects valuations of $3.61 trillion and $3.5 trillion, respectively. Each represents roughly 10% of the anticipated $35 trillion total market cap.

Dogecoin Open Interest Surges to $1.62B Despite Price Drop: Here’s What’s Happening

0

Dogecoin open interest in the futures market sees a considerable spike despite price pullback, signaling strong speculative demand amid cooling momentum.

Dogecoin (DOGE) recently experienced significant price momentum, rising sharply from around $0.16 on May 6 to just over $0.24 by May 11. Despite a minor pullback settling between $0.22 and $0.23, the crypto maintained an overall upward trend characterized by higher highs and higher lows.

Notably, amid this price activity, futures markets show signs of an increase in speculative interest.

Divergence Between Price and Dogecoin Open Interest

Glassnode, an on-chain and financial insight provider, recently highlighted a divergence occurring between Dogecoin’s spot price and futures interest.

Typically, spot price movements align closely with speculative activity in futures markets, but the current situation differs. While Dogecoin’s price retraced from its peak near $0.25, speculative interest, as indicated by futures open interest, appears to have surged significantly.

Image

In earlier months, from mid-February to early March, Dogecoin experienced a brief rally above $0.23, accompanied by increased futures activity.

However, as DOGE’s price began to decline in subsequent weeks, futures open interest mirrored this downturn, eventually bottoming below $900 million by April. This correlation showed traders’ cautious stance during declining or uncertain market conditions.

The dynamics have shifted dramatically from late April when Dogecoin’s price surged from around $0.15 to nearly $0.25 by early May then cooled down at the $0.22 level.

Importantly, Dogecoin open interest has continued to increase, from $989 million to $1.62 billion this week, even after the price pulled back. Glassnode says this indicates persistent speculative positioning, a setup the analytic platform believes is worth monitoring.

Notably, this rise in speculative activity can lead to heightened volatility. If bearish sentiment dominates, it may pressure the price lower. However, if too many traders are short, a short squeeze could trigger a sharp rebound. Long term, persistent speculation without fundamental growth may undermine price stability and investor confidence.

Positive Funding Rates Indicate Bullish Sentiment

Meanwhile, the funding rate history for Dogecoin from Coinglass demonstrates a positive trend across major cryptocurrency exchanges as of May 13, 2025. Exchanges such as Bitmex, HTX, Gate.io, and Bitget reported funding rates at 0.0100%.

Binance and OKX also registered positive but slightly lower funding rates of 0.0036% and 0.0034%, respectively. Positive funding rates indicate that futures traders predominantly hold long positions, reflecting a bullish market outlook.

Amid these positive futures market metrics, analysts on the social platforms are also bullish. Market analyst Rekt Capital noted a significant development in Dogecoin’s weekly price action.

Dogecoin achieved a weekly close above its pre-halving resistance level, marking a critical shift on its price chart. Previously acting as a resistance ceiling, this level has transitioned into a potential support zone following recent price activity.

Rekt Capital emphasized this shift as a key technical pattern indicating ongoing bullish control. Currently, Dogecoin is undergoing a retest of this newly established support zone around $0.22. According to the analyst, successfully holding this support could set the stage for DOGE to target at least $0.27 as the next significant price level.
