Crypto CEO Says XRP True Price Was Set Long Ago, Explains What Global Institutions Know

Versan Aljarrah, CEO of Black Swan Capitalist, has boldly asserted that global financial institutions have already determined the “true” price of XRP long before retail traders could influence the market.

Aljarrah draws a parallel between the price discovery process of traditional stocks and the way XRP’s value is being shaped. In financial markets, large institutions such as hedge funds and banks determine a company’s stock price before it goes public through a pre-IPO phase. Aljarrah argues that XRP is undergoing a similar process but on a much larger scale.

According to Aljarrah, XRP’s price has been quietly set through private negotiations between central banks, large financial entities, and stakeholders like JP Morgan, BlackRock, and the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).

He speculated that these major players have already agreed on the value of XRP as a bridge currency for global financial transactions. According to him, it is to ensure that it plays a pivotal role in cross-border payments and blockchain interoperability.

XRP Is Already Integrated Into Global Financial Systems

Furthermore, Aljarrah argued that XRP’s role in the global financial ecosystem is more than speculative. He claimed that numerous central banks and financial institutions have already adopted it.

Aljarrah highlighted XRP’s integration into financial systems worldwide, including smaller economies such as Barbados and various Caribbean nations. According to him, this widespread adoption signifies that XRP’s price is driven not by retail market forces but by existing institutional agreements.

In his view, as XRP gains adoption in settlement transactions, its value responds to the demands and agreements of these powerful global entities. The author claims that, much like the pre-IPO phase of a public company, XRP’s actual utility price has been negotiated behind the scenes and will likely differ from what retail traders see on the open market.

Retail Price Action Is Irrelevant

One of the critical points Aljarrah makes is that the retail price of XRP is largely irrelevant in the context of global finance. He claimed that while the price of XRP might fluctuate due to speculation, the actual price that global financial institutions are willing to pay is much higher.

Meanwhile, Aljarrah suggests that XRP’s price will eventually reflect its true value as a bridge asset in the global economy. The retail market’s price may appear low, but institutional agreements are already setting a much higher price behind the scenes.

Aljarrah hints that the actual price of XRP could be far higher than its current market value, with projections suggesting the price may reach three to four digits in the future.

This potential surge is based on the demand for XRP as a settlement medium in multi-trillion-dollar financial transactions. For XRP to serve this market, its price must be high enough to support large-scale financial flows.

Why Pay Higher for XRP?

Notably, this hypothetical suggestion by Aljarrah means that while XRP trades at $2 today, its price behind the scenes could be between $100 and $1,000.

Meanwhile, critics have challenged this perspective. Community figure Tank Sinatra questioned why any bank or anyone would agree to pay a higher price than the current market value for anything, let alone XRP.

Here’s How High Dogecoin Can Soar If DOGE Matches XRP and Ethereum Market Caps

0

Dogecoin could set a new all-time high (ATH) record if it matches the market cap of established cryptocurrencies like XRP and Ethereum.

The ongoing bearish trend in the crypto market has negatively impacted DOGE’s price action. Recall that DOGE ranked among the early gainers in the post-election relief rally, which saw its price rise to a high of $0.4835 on December 8.

However, DOGE has lost these gains, as it currently sits around the level it traded at before the election. At the current price of $0.1693, DOGE is down 64.98% from its December 8 peak of $0.4835.

DOGE is also down 2.86% in the past seven days, 19.3% in 30 days, and 57% in three months. Despite the massive dip, DOGE investors have remained confident about the asset’s prospects.

Consequently, some wonder what would happen if DOGE resumes its post-election rally and potentially matches the market cap of established cryptocurrencies like Ethereum (ETH) and XRP (XRP).

Overview of Market Cap of ETH and XRP

Like DOGE, XRP and ETH have experienced massive declines, losing most of their post-election gains. Nonetheless, both coins still rank among the top three non-stablecoin crypto by market cap.

While ETH sits in the second position with a market cap of $218.63 billion, XRP’s valuation of $124.39 billion puts it in the third spot. However, DOGE is far in the ranking, currently ranked as the sixth non-stablecoin crypto in the market. It has a market cap of $25.17 billion.

Therefore, Dogecoin must soar 394.19% from its current valuation of $25.17 billion to match XRP’s market cap of $124.39 billion. Similarly, DOGE requires a greater surge of 768.61% to equal Ethereum’s $218.63 billion market cap.

DOGE Price If It Matches XRP or ETH Market Cap

As mentioned earlier, matching ETH or XRP’s market cap requires DOGE to rise 768.61% or 394.19% from its current valuation.

Notably, if DOGE rises 394.19% and matches XRP’s market cap, its price would increase to $0.8366. This estimate assumes Dogecoin’s circulating supply remains fairly stable at 148.72 billion tokens. In the same vein, DOGE’s price would spike to $1.47 per token if it surges by 768.61% to equal ETH’s market cap.

Both prices–$0.8366 and $1.47–are 13.42% and 99.29% above Dogecoin’s all-time high of $0.7376, respectively. Recall that DOGE hit its previous ATH on May 8, 2021. It has remained far from this level ever since.

DOGE’s current price of $0.1693 represents a decline of 77.04% from its previous ATH. However, hitting the $0.8366 or $1.47 targets would potentially mark new ATHs for DOGE.

Potential Timeline for DOGE’s Rise to $0.8366 or $1.47

Several analysts have predicted Dogecoin’s potential surge to the $0.8 and $1.4 price range. However, not everyone attached a timeline for when these predictions would materialize.

Last month, popular TradingView analyst ‘Cobra Vanguard’ identified a cup-and-handle pattern on Dogecoin’s chart to predict a potential rally to the $0.8 price mark. In addition, popular chatbot service ChatGPT predicted that DOGE could soar to around $1.4 if it becomes the default payment method across Elon Musk’s ecosystem.

Meanwhile, Changelly set possible timelines for Dogecoin’s potential surge to $0.8366 and $1.47, respectively. While the exchange expects DOGE to hit $0.8366 by June 2030, it projects that the $1.47 target would materialize the following year, specifically in August 2031.

It remains to be seen whether these predictions will play out. Factors such as increased adoption, ETF approval, and celebrity influence could pave the way for a hefty rally to lofty targets like $0.8366 or $1.47.

Top XRPL Developer Predicts XRP Price If Bitcoin Hits $250K

0

Popular XRPL developer Chris Dangerfield expresses strong optimism for April 2025, suggesting that the crypto market will no longer remain suppressed.

According to Chris, many positive developments are happening at the moment that could potentially end the suppression in the crypto market. He indicated that these developments might lead to a significant price surge for top assets, specifically Bitcoin and XRP.

Factors Fueling Chris’ Optimism

He expressed optimism about April 2025, noting that he is bullish about the month’s prospects for crypto.

Notably, the XRPL developer revealed that he recently met with an unnamed famous personality who issued bold predictions for Bitcoin and XRP. This so-called ‘personality’ predicted that XRP might reach $10-15 per coin and Bitcoin could surpass $250,000.

With XRP trading at $2.12, hitting the $10-15 target would demand a surge of about 371-607% from the current price. Also, for Bitcoin to hit the $250,000 target, it must spike 202% from its current price of $82,781.

Although these predictions demand an astronomical increase to come to fruition, Chris believes both are realistic. He emphasized that it is only a matter of time before the projections materialize. However, he seems uncertain about which of the assets between Bitcoin and XRP will first hit the targets.

Another reason why Chris is bullish about April 2025 is his ongoing development projects on the XRP Ledger. Despite not providing specific details about the projects, the XRPL developer emphasized that he is ‘super pumped’ about them.

Notably, Chris is optimistic about crypto potential in April 2025 due to positive predictions from a top expert and his ongoing technological efforts within the XRPL ecosystem.

Cryptos Underperform Amid Positive Events

It bears mentioning that the broader crypto market has not lived up to expectations over the past few weeks despite the numerous positive developments in the space.

In particular, the U.S. government has continued to support the industry and announced plans to move forward with its digital asset reserve initiative. This initiative involves establishing a Bitcoin-only reserve and a digital asset stockpile for altcoins like XRP.

Additionally, the U.S. is also making moves to establish a crypto regulatory framework at the federal level, with the country close to passing a stablecoin regulation into law.

Despite these positive developments, top crypto assets, including Bitcoin and XRP, have largely underperformed over the past few weeks. Chris attributed this underperformance to suppression, which he believes will end in April 2025.

Can XRP Hit $100 with a 100B Supply? Here’s the Math

As XRP continues to gain global adoption, many investors wonder whether the crypto asset could reach lofty heights like $100 per token.

Many industry leaders argue this possibility. Technical analysts have relied on historical trends to predict a short-term timeline for it to materialize. However, others— the conservatives—believe it is a price projection far into the future.

Meanwhile, critics argue that an XRP price above $100 is far-fetched. A main factor in the divergent perspectives is XRP’s supply and current price of around $2.10.

This article breaks down the numbers and analyzes what would happen if XRP were to hit this milestone.

The Market Cap Challenge

To understand whether XRP can hit $100, we first need to look at the necessary market capitalization. With its current supply of 100 billion XRP, for the price to rise to $100 per token, the market cap would need to hit an astounding $10 trillion.

This would mean XRP would need to become one of the largest financial assets in the world, rivaling even gold.

Is a $10 Trillion Market Cap Realistic for XRP?

Notably, as of today, XRP has a market cap of $124 billion based on the circulating supply of 58.27 billion tokens. However, based on the full supply, the valuation is $213 billion.

Reaching a $10 trillion market cap would demand a massive growth of 4,560%. Such a realization could make XRP a dominant player not just in the crypto world but in the entire global financial system. For perspective, here’s a look at some of the largest market caps today:

  • Gold: $20.55 trillion, a valuation that makes it the most valuable asset in the world.
  • Apple Inc.: ~$2.83 trillion, the second most prominent asset after gold.
  • Bitcoin: $1.6 trillion, ranking as the ninth most valuable asset globally.
  • Entire Crypto Market: ~$2.72 trillion.

To put it simply, for XRP to hit $100 per token, it would need to outgrow Bitcoin and Ethereum and likely surpass the combined value of the current global financial market, especially if the broader market fails to see comparable growth or if XRP completely decouples from Bitcoin and the broader market trend.

The Bottom Line: Can XRP Reach $100?

Mathematically, it’s possible that XRP could reach $100. However, practically speaking, reaching a $10 trillion market cap would require XRP to lead the crypto and global financial standard. In particular, this sparks the question of the potential valuation of gold and Bitcoin, as these assets have much wider global acceptance than XRP.

Notably, some projections have suggested it could take XRP up to 20 years to grow from $2 to $100.

Here’s Where Shiba Inu Price Could Land if SHIB Rises 5,000%, 10,000%, or 20,000%

0

This article highlights how Shiba Inu’s price could increase significantly if SHIB experiences a surge of 5,000%, 10,000%, or 20,000% from its current level.

Many investors know crypto assets like Shiba Inu (SHIB) for their huge price swings. This often works in Shiba Inu’s favor, as witnessed in the 2020/2021 market cycle, when SHIB surged by hundreds of millions of percent to an all-time high of $0.00008845.

Let’s explore the potential price of SHIB if it soars 5,000%, 10,000%, and 20,000% from this level.

Understanding the Growth Rate

Although the scenarios are highly speculative, they can help illustrate the scale of change that such growth—5,000%, 10,000%, or 20,000%—would represent.

The lowest growth rate in the scenario (5,000%) assumes that the current price of SHIB would be multiplied by 51. This represents a surge of 50 times the original amount plus the initial price.

Similarly, the second growth scenario, 10,000%, also assumes that Shiba Inu’s current price would multiply by 101 (or surge 100 times the original amount plus the original price).

The 20,000% increase also represents a multiplication of the current price by 201 (or a surge of 200 times the original amount, with the original price added to the total.

SHIB Price After 5,000%, 10,000%, or 20,000% Growth

Applying the aforementioned rule to the current price of $0.00001231 would result in a jaw-dropping surge in the value of Shiba Inu.

A 5,000% or 50x surge from Shiba Inu’s current price would take SHIB to $0.000627. At this price, Shiba Inu would have a market cap of $369.46 billion, surpassing Ethereum’s current valuation.

In addition, assuming Shiba Inu experiences a 10,000% surge from the current level, SHIB’s price would spike to $0.001244, bringing its market cap to $733.02 billion.

Lastly, an increase of 20,000% or 200x from $0.00001231 would position SHIB at a new price of $0.002474. At $0.002474, Shiba Inu’s market cap would surge to around $1.45 trillion.

Achieving any of these targets would translate to remarkable gains for early investors. For instance, an investor holding 100 million SHIB, currently worth $1,231, would see huge returns if SHIB hits any targets, such as $0.000627, $0.001244, or $0.002474.

If SHIB hits $0.000627, the 100 million SHIB portfolio would be valued at $62,700. Similarly, if SHIB’s price reaches $0.001244 or $0.002474, the portfolio’s value would increase to $124,000 or $247,400, respectively.

Meanwhile, several analysts believe SHIB can reach these targets in its lifetime and have set different timelines for when they could materialize.

Potential Timeline for SHIB’s Surge to $0.000627, $0.001244, or $0.002474

Earlier this year, The Crypto Basic forecasted that SHIB would hit the $0.0006 price mark between 2030 and 2033. Experts from Changelly envision Shiba Inu hitting the $0.000627 price by February 2034.

Additionally, Changelly expects SHIB to hit the $0.001244 target between 2035 and 2039, while the exchange expects the $0.002474 price to materialize within the first two months of 2040.

The timeline for achieving the $0.002474 target aligns with Changelly’s previous forecast, which predicted that SHIB would rise to the $0.002 level by February 2040.

XRP Dodges $0.50 as Data Reveals It Trades at a 300% Premium, Showing More Resilience Than Its Historical Performance

0

Market data indicates that XRP is currently showing more resilience than its historical performance, despite the ongoing market turbulence.

Notably, XRP is currently witnessing massive bearish pressure as a result of a broader market chaos. Since February 2025, the crypto market has faced turbulence triggered by the bears, having lost over $550 billion in valuation within this period.

XRP has also collapsed from its $3.4 peak in mid-January 2025 to trade at the lower end of the $2 range. However, despite this underwhelming performance, analysts believe XRP has held up better than most expected. For one, while the global crypto market cap is down 17% year-to-date, XRP is up 2.72% in the same timeframe.

XRP Trades Alongside RTY

Meanwhile, market commentator Blockchain Backer recently spotlighted the extent of this resilience, suggesting that XRP might be trading 300% higher than its expected price position, judging from historical precedent. The analyst called this strength “bizarre.”

Notably, Blockchain Backer compared XRP’s historical performance alongside the U.S. Russell 2000 Index (RTY), an index in the U.S. stock market that essentially tracks the stock performance of about 2,000 companies with small market capitalizations.

According to his disclosure, each time the broader market has observed an upside or a downturn, XRP and the Russell 2000 Index have moved alongside each other with a strange precision.

For instance, during the COVID-19 period, the RTY witnessed a brief rally from late 2019 to early 2020. However, after meeting a roadblock at the $1,712 peak in January 2020, the index saw a drop that persisted until the end of Q1 2020. Interestingly, XRP saw a similar price action, rising to $0.34 by February 2020 and then collapsing.

XRP and RTY During the COVID Crash

This pattern also played out during the crypto bear market in 2022. Specifically, when the RTY recovered from the Q1 2020 crash, it soared from May 2020 to a peak of $2,368 in March 2021 before eventually dropping in early 2022. XRP also soared to a peak of $1.96 in April 2021 before crashing to $0.28 in 2022.

XRP Now Showing Better Resilience

Further, when the market-wide recovery came up in late 2024, XRP and the RTY observed massive rallies. However, now that the bearish pressure has materialized, while the RTY has dropped nearly 19% this year, XRP has shown resilience, up 2.72% within the same period despite its 29% drop in February.

According to Blockchain Backer, for the first time, XRP has failed to collapse alongside the RTY during a market crash. The market analyst suggested that if XRP followed the historical trend, its price ought to have been at $0.50 now. With XRP currently trading for $2.13, this means the asset is trading at a 300% premium.

John Bollinger, the inventor of the Bollinger Bands, also highlighted XRP’s resilience last month. However, with the market crash still ongoing, it remains to be seen if XRP will follow the trend in the future. Analysts like Astekz are already calling for steeper declines if XRP loses the $2 mark.

Here’s How Much XRP Could Skyrocket If It Handles 1% of SWIFT’s Daily Volume

0

XRP price could rise to greater heights if the asset complements SWIFT by handling just 1% of the global messaging network’s daily volume.

Discussions around XRP’s possible role in global payments, particularly in relation to SWIFT, the dominant financial messaging network, have dominated crypto circles in recent times.

Could XRP Complement SWIFT?

Several industry experts, including executives from Ripple, have discussed how XRP and the XRP Ledger (XRPL) could either complement or replace SWIFT in cross-border transactions.

For instance, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse stressed at the Paris Fintech Forum 2019 that the goal is not necessarily to eliminate SWIFT but to enhance its efficiency. He acknowledged SWIFT’s Global Payments Innovation (GPI) as a step in the right direction but pointed out that Ripple’s blockchain-based solutions are more efficient.

Also, in a 2018 discussion in Money20/20 USA, Ripple’s CTO, David Schwartz, noted how XRP’s capabilities could reduce reliance on intermediaries. He highlighted the inefficiencies of traditional payments, which are often slow and costly. Besides Ripple’s executives, various analysts have shared similar sentiments.

SWIFT’s Massive Trading Volume

For context, the SWIFT network currently processes a massive volume of transactions daily. As of December 2022, the system handled an average of 44.8 million FIN messages per day, reflecting a 6.6% increase compared to the previous year.

While SWIFT does not publicly disclose the total monetary value of these transactions, historical estimates suggest that the daily sum is substantial. In 2004, SWIFT processed around 10 million messages per day, with each message averaging approximately $500,000 in transaction value, totaling about $5 trillion daily.

Despite the discussion surrounding XRP’s potential to complement SWIFT, it remains uncertain how this would affect its market valuation. To get some pointers, we conducted an analysis using ChatGPT, an AI chatbot, to explore hypothetical scenarios if XRP handles just 1% of SWIFT’s daily transaction volume.

XRP Price if It Handles 1% of SWIFT’s Daily Volume

According to the chatbot’s projections, if XRP facilitated 1% of SWIFT’s estimated $5 trillion daily volume, this would translate to processing $50 billion in transactions per day. To estimate the potential price impact, it used a proportionality approach, comparing XRP’s existing market data to the hypothetical scenario.

At the time of the analysis, XRP traded for $2.08, with a daily trading volume of $2.9 billion. Under the hypothetical scenario where XRP’s daily transaction volume rises to $50 billion, the volume increase factor would be around 17.24 times its current level.

XRP Price if It Handles 1 of SWIFT Volume
XRP Price if It Handles SWIFT Volume | ChatGPT

ChatGPT then assumed a direct correlation between price and trading volume and estimated the XRP price in this scenario to be around $35.86. Notably, this would mark a 1,624% increase from XRP’s current price, leading to a market cap of over $2 trillion.

However, it is important to note that the assessment’s assumption is a massive oversimplification. In reality, a rise in trading volume would likely not lead to a proportionate increase in price, as much of the volume would also come from selling pressure.

US SEC Concludes that Most Stablecoins Are Not Securities

0

The US SEC has confirmed that most stablecoins are not securities as bills seeking clear regulation for the asset class gain momentum.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission has clarified that most stablecoins do not pass as securities. In an April 4 statement, the regulator disclosed this stance as bills seeking to create a framework for stablecoins in America gain momentum.

Specifically, the agency’s Division of Corporate Finance mentioned that the sales of “Covered Stablecoins” do not constitute offering unregistered securities under the Securities Act of 1933.

It described Covered Stablecoins as assets designed to maintain a one-to-one value relative to the US dollar, can be redeemed with the same valuation as the dollar, and have reserves fully backing or exceeding the redemption value of the tokens in circulation.

Covered Stablecoins Exonerated as Securities

Notably, the US SEC’s Friday statement marks its clearest position on the classification of a cryptocurrency yet. With this, the SEC has clearly mentioned what it classifies as Covered Stablecoins, inferring that parties involved in minting and redeeming this asset class do not need to register with the agency.

Nonetheless, the regulator’s description of Covered Stablecoins does not include algorithmic stablecoins, which describes dollar-pegged assets not backed by traditional collateral but relying on smart contracts to maintain their peg.

The SEC noted that it would provide further regulatory clarity on this category of stablecoins.

SEC Maintains Reservation on Interest Payment

While the clarity appeased the crypto enthusiasts and even drew comments from David Sacks, the crypto and AI czar, a clause remains. The top regulator maintained that stablecoins should not be yield-bearing for holders.

Per the statement, stablecoins have their use in commercial transactions, and users can adopt them as a store of value. As a result, the SEC overruled the concept that users can purchase Covered Stablecoins for investment purposes.

Remarkably, this comes despite Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong’s March 31 X article urging Congress to allow yield-sharing between stablecoin issuers and holders. He insisted that legislation should accord issuers the same rights as banks to disseminate profits to customers, arguing it was consistent with a free market approach.

Nonetheless, the stablecoin clarity comes on the heels of recent breakthroughs in the asset’s legislation in the United States. For context, the US House Committee passed the STABLE Act this week, while the US Senate Banking Committee approved the GENIUS Act in mid-March.

Can XRP Repeat a Similar Run, Here’s How Much Tesla Stock Consolidated Before Spiking 2,474%

0

Tesla stock witnessed an elongated consolidation for several years before witnessing a massive uptrend, with XRP potentially following a similar path.

XRP had been in an extensive consolidation phase before witnessing a breakout last November. This breakout led to a massive run for XRP, pushing the asset from $0.5 to around $1.9 by December 2024. Despite hitting $3.4 in January 2025, XRP has faced a pullback since February.

However, as this correction persists, some believe XRP still has the potential to observe a more extensive run. Amid this increased confidence, we recently confirmed that Tesla (TSLA) witnessed similar bearish patterns as XRP, but eventually observed an extensive run.

Tesla Consolidation and Price Breakout

Notably, Tesla recorded the same consolidation phase that XRP saw from January 2018 to November 2024. Particularly, TSLA saw a rapid run from December 2012 to a peak of $17.67 in February 2014. However, following this top, Tesla saw a pullback and subsequent consolidation.

This consolidation lasted for several months, possibly shaking out investors. Tesla traded within a range of $25.97 and $11.29 between February 2014 and October 2019, about 2,097 days. Within this period, the stock failed to break the resistance at $26, but the bulls fervently defended the support at the $10 psychological mark.

However, after this consolidation ended, Tesla witnessed an impressive rally from November 2019. This run met a roadblock in February 2020, with TSLA collapsing by a massive 24.24% in February and March 2020.

Interestingly, the asset recovered shortly after, with the next uptrend being more parabolic than the previous one. This allowed Tesla to soar to a new all-time high of $414.5 in November 2021. The run represented a 2,474% increase from Tesla’s breakout point to the peak of $414.5 in November 2021.

XRP Observing Similar Patterns

Notably, XRP has been observing a similar pattern. In particular, after hitting $3.8 in January 2018, XRP witnessed a pullback and then consolidated for several years. The asset traded within a range of $1.9 and $0.2 from January 2018 to November 2024, essentially 2,557 days.

However, a breakout occurred in November 2024, with XRP rallying from $0.5 to $1.9. Now, a pullback, similar to what Tesla faced in February and March 2020, has materialized. As a result of this pullback, XRP dropped nearly 32% in February and March 2025.

XRP 1M Chart
XRP 1M Chart

Interestingly, a recovery is now on the horizon, with XRP up a meager 2.05% this month, April 2025. If XRP observes a similar run to Tesla, its price could also skyrocket 2,474%. Such a rally would push XRP to around the $50 price level, marking a new all-time high.

Currently, XRP changes hands at $2.13, up 3.37% over the past 24 hours. Despite the similarities with Tesla’s previous run, it remains to be seen if XRP can secure a 2,474% rally. However, analysts remain confident in its overall potential, with one recently suggesting a run to $10-$20 remains reachable.

Store of Value? Recent Price Action Shows Bitcoin Decoupling from Risk Assets

0

Bitcoin has shown resilience in the face of a broader market capitulation, with prominent analysts suggesting a decoupling from risk assets.

The US stock sell-off reached insane levels yesterday as Donald Trump’s tariff hike continued to push the broader market sideways. After investors pulled out $2.85 trillion from the US stock market on April 3, they resumed with another $1.5 trillion at market open on Friday.

At the end of Friday’s trading session, the US stock market’s value shed $3.25 trillion, the worst two-day risk asset dump in five years. While this fracas continued, the crypto market took a contrarian stand, surprising prominent market watchers.

Bitcoin Adds Billions of Dollars While Risk Assets Dumped

Interestingly, Bitcoin and the broader crypto market saw massive inflows despite risk asset sell-offs in the US market. Data showed that $5.4 billion flowed into the sector on Friday, marking a sentiment shift among global investors.

Crypto Market Adds $54 billion
Crypto Market Adds $54 billion

What was more fascinating about Friday’s Bitcoin contrarian play was that the dumps affected gold, which has been in fine form since the market depression. The precious metal hit a new all-time high of $3,167 on April 3 but dropped sharply yesterday to near $3,000, spurred by adverse market conditions.

Bloomberg’s ETF analyst James Seyffart highlighted this morale-boosting event for the crypto market in an April 4 tweet. The prominent market watcher noted he was aghast at Bitcoin’s resilience in the face of the sell-offs, a feat the pioneering crypto has recently failed to pull off.

He noted that Bitcoin’s trend above $80,000 despite yesterday’s risk asset sell-offs and gold’s failure to keep its cool left him “genuinely shocked.” This again reinstates Bitcoin’s emerging maturity and store of value characteristics.

Bitcoin Decoupling from Risk Assets?

In response to Seyffart, Adam Back, the co-founder of Blockstream, alleged that Bitcoin is finally decoupling from risk assets. For context, the crypto firstborn has mirrored the trend of the US stock market since the tariff development, raising skepticism among crypto market enthusiasts.

However, yesterday’s event suggested a change of course. Back noted that the resilience might have come from market makers leveraging the lack of fiat liquidity to autocorrect Bitcoin’s correlation.

For perspective, the recent global market downturn saw investors take a cautious stand, limiting liquidity supply to the assets like Bitcoin. In these market conditions, market makers can supply liquidity and influence the price action of cryptocurrencies, as trading volumes are low to counter such manipulation.

Meanwhile, Seyffart suggested that this resilience might come from incessant Bitcoin demand from companies like MicroStrategy, Marathon Digital, and, most recently, GameStop. Notably, MicroStrategy has resumed its weekly Bitcoin acquisition after a brief stop, buying the asset for the third week running.

Meme stock firm GameStop recently adopted Bitcoin as its primary treasury asset, announcing afterward that it would raise $1.3 billion to stack more of the asset. The Bloomberg analyst noted that this demand might have kept Bitcoin up in the face of the current adverse market condition.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin trades at $83,338, up 1.2% in the past week.
