Russia Central Bank Proposes to Allow Qualified Investors Trade Crypto

0

Russia’s apex bank is planning to allow a limited group of investors to legally trade cryptocurrency assets like Bitcoin (BTC).

The Bank of Russia made this known in a proposal submitted to the government today. In a press release, the bank emphasized that the new proposal aligns with President Vladimir Putin’s instructions, which directed the establishment of new regulations for crypto investments.

3-Year Experimental Regime for Crypto Investment in Russia

Complying with the directive, the bank proposed a three-year experimental regime that will allow qualified investors to buy and sell cryptocurrencies.

Investors who wish to trade crypto assets within the experimental framework must possess securities investment worth over 100 million rubles ($1.15 million) or an annual income of 50 million rubles ($583,960).

Notably, eligibility also extends to companies that have already met existing qualification criteria under the current legislation.

Per the announcement, the regime, planned for three years, aims to enhance transparency within the country’s crypto market. It will also set service standards while expanding investment opportunities to only experienced investors prepared to bear the associated risks.

Bank of Russia Warns

The announcement highlighted the risks associated with crypto assets, noting that the emerging assets are inherently volatile. It added that they are not issued by any government worldwide, including Russia. Hence, participants must be cautious.

Despite the proposal, Russia’s apex bank clarified that cryptocurrencies are not a legal means of payment. It reiterates the prohibition on residents utilizing crypto for payments outside of the latest proposal, with penalties suggested.

It bears mentioning that Russia first banned crypto payments in 2021. President Putin followed through by signing a bill the following year, preventing residents from purchasing goods and services with crypto.

Despite this stringent measure, the country has been considering utilizing cryptocurrencies for cross-border settlements since 2022, with efforts intensifying last year.

Russia is not changing its stance on local crypto payments anytime soon, with its apex bank confirming they remain prohibited.

Meanwhile, the proposal suggests that qualified investors will be allowed to invest in financial instruments like derivatives and securities tied to the value of cryptocurrencies outside of the proposed experimental regime. At the moment, the Russian government has yet to decide whether to approve the new measure.

Bloomberg ETF Expert Defends Bitcoin Decline Alongside US Stock Amid Store of Value Debate

0

Eric Balchunas, Bloomberg’s senior ETF analyst, has dispelled claims that Bitcoin, as a store of value, should not react negatively to the recent US stock crash.

Concerns around the looming tariff war between major countries, like the United States, Canada, and China, severely impact the global stock market. Particularly, the US stock market has been on the wrong side of the trade war, recording its highest daily decline in 30 months, with over $1 trillion wiped out on Monday.

While the S&P 500, Dow Jones, and Nasdaq crashed, Bitcoin followed suit. On Tuesday, the asset dumped below $80,000 for the first time since early November amid pessimistic macroeconomics and incessant outflows from US Bitcoin ETFs.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin’s behavior in correlation with US stocks has sparked a debate on its position as a store of value. Bloomberg’s senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas has weighed in on the hot topic.

Bitcoin Not Hedge Against Stock Crash

ETF store president Nate Geraci recently shared his opinion on Bitcoin’s reaction to the US stock crash. He branded the scenario a “showtime” for the premier asset, insinuating that it should stand out as a hedge against the crash.

Geraci suggested that if Bitcoin is the “store of value” or “hedge” that investors bill it as, then it should act in that capacity now. He argued that the leading cryptocurrency ought not behave as a high-beta asset amid US stock sell-offs.

However, Balchunas has defended Bitcoin’s crash with stocks. He stressed that its hedge was against inflation and not against stock declines. Furthermore, the market expert highlighted that nothing has really withstood the decline, including the US Treasury bonds.

As a result, he maintains that expecting Bitcoin to act as a store of value against this US stock crash was a bit out of place, at least in his own view of the pioneering cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin Still Transitioning to a Serious Asset Class

Moreover, enthusiasts weighed in on the argument, with some insisting that expecting Bitcoin to act as a hedge against market conditions is somewhat too early to ask of the asset.

A reaction highlighted that Bitcoin is still transitioning from once a highly speculative coin to a maturing asset class. As a result of this, it is still early to expect complete protection against stock crashes from the relatively new investment vehicle.

Another reaction supported this line of thought, insisting that investors need to first experience a paradigm shift from their current view of Bitcoin as a speculative asset. Furthermore, he noted that Bitcoin must be worth at least millions per coin and gain mainstream adoption to attain stability like gold.

Meanwhile, data has shown that Bitcoin has shown more resilience in the face of geopolitical tensions than gold and the S&P 500. A chart shows the asset’s price performance during major global events compared to both traditional asset classes.

Bitcoin’s Reaction to Major Geopolitical Events

In the meantime, Bitcoin trades at $82,783, up 2.66% in the past 24 hours.

Bitcoin Breaks Above $84K as US Inflation Cools in February

0

Bitcoin sees a mild bump on cooler than expected February 2025 inflation numbers.

Reprieve continues to trickle in for risk markets like crypto. First, Ukraine agreed to a U.S. ceasefire deal in its conflict with Russia. Now, it is cooler than expected February 2025 inflation numbers.

Are interest rate cuts coming?

Cooler Than Expected Numbers

In the past few minutes, Bitcoin, the largest crypto asset by market cap, has seen a mild rally that has taken its price above $84,500.

The bump comes as U.S. inflation numbers for February 2025 came in less than expected across the board, stoking hopes of a dovish Fed turn that could bolster capital inflows to risk assets.

Specifically, the annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) came in at 2.8%, the lowest since November 2024, less than January 2025’s 3% print, and less than the projected 2.9%.

At the same time, the monthly rate rose only 0.2% in February 2025, the lowest since October 2024. This was less than January 2025’s 0.5% print and less than the expected 0.3%.

Moreover, Core CPI, which excludes more volatile items like food and gas and is more closely watched by the Fed, rose 3.1% annually, dropping from 3.3% in January 2025, and coming in below expectations of 3.2%. It is also the lowest print since April 2021.

The metric rose only 0.2% month-on-month (MoM), below the anticipated 0.3%.

While market watchers expect the Fed to keep interest rates stable in the 4.25% to 4.5% range following the March 19 Federal Open Market Committee meeting (FOMC), recent data could bolster hopes of cuts in May 2025 and June 2025.

At the time of writing, the FedWatch Tool suggests a 32% chance of cuts in May and an over 76% chance of cuts in June.

Hopes of rate cuts have likely also been bolstered by recent recession fears stoked by President Donald Trump’s tariff policies. Should this materialize, it could trigger capital inflow into risk assets like Bitcoin, bolstering price action.

Here’s How High Shiba Inu May Rise at 2028 Bitcoin Halving

0

Shiba Inu price could witness a remarkable increase by the next Bitcoin halving in 2028 if the meme coin follows its upward trajectory.

Notably, the Bitcoin halving has always been a significant event for Bitcoin, and by extension, the rest of the crypto market. For the uninitiated, this event, which occurs once every four years, slashes the block reward for Bitcoin miners by half, effectively reducing the supply rate of the original cryptocurrency.

Shiba Inu Spikes 2,263,274%

This is often bullish for Bitcoin, as demand meets lower supply rate. Also, due to Bitcoin’s influence on the broader crypto market’s direction, a bullish price action for the firstborn crypto asset translates to price improvements for altcoins like Shiba Inu.

Interestingly, Shiba Inu has come a long way since its launch in August 2020, three months after the 2020 halving event. For context, the 2020 halving occurred in May of that year, with SHIB launching three months later. After Shiba Inu’s launch, the next Bitcoin halving occurred four years later, in April 2024.

During the April 2024 halving, SHIB changed hands at $0.000022, representing a massive gain from the 2020 value. Data from CoinMarketCap indicates that between the time of its launch and the time of the most recent Bitcoin halving, Shiba Inu rallied by a massive 2,263,274%.

Now, the next Bitcoin halving is expected to occur in 2028, slashing block rewards from the current 3.125 BTC to 1.56 BTC. Notably, if Shiba Inu price even replicates just 1% of its growth between launch and the 2020 halving, it could rally by as much as 22,632% or 227x.

Possible Shiba Inu Price at 2028 Bitcoin Halving

With Shiba Inu price trading at $0.000022 during the 2024 halving, a 22,632% increase from this level would lead to a value of $0.004979. Interestingly, analysts at Changelly, a crypto exchange resource, suggested that Shiba Inu price could hit the $0.0049 level in April 2040, twelve years after the 2028 halving.

Despite the extended timeframe, the $0.0049 price remains ambitious for Shiba Inu, potentially leading to a market cap of $2.8 trillion. For context, this would surpass the current Bitcoin valuation of $1.62 trillion and the global crypto market cap of $2.69 trillion.

As a result, we sought the opinion of AI Chatbot ChatGPT for more realistic targets for Shiba Inu price by the 2028 halving. The chatbot presented several growth patterns that could determine its trajectory, using a starting value of $0.00001303.

First, it presented a bearish case that would see Shiba Inu rise only 3x to $0.00003909 during the 2028 halving. For its moderate case, ChatGPT believes Shiba Inu price would jump 5x to $0.00006515, still below the 2021 all-time high. Meanwhile, the chatbot sets a 10x target of $0.0001303 if SHIB follows the 2020 to 2024 growth.

Notably, for its bullish case, ChatGPT predicts Shiba Inu price could rally 15x to $0.0001954. However, the “extreme bull case” projects a 20x price increase to $0.0002606. Changelly analysts expect SHIB to reach $0.000026 by February 2040. Currently, Shiba Inu price trades for $0.00001222, down 2.79% in the past 24 hours.

XRP Worst Case Scenario: Expert Explains How to Maximize a Likely 59% Dip for XRP to $0.90

As XRP trades above $2, expert predictions point to the possibility of a significant drop if Bitcoin (BTC) faces a severe correction.

Over the past day, the crypto market saw a slight recovery after an earlier bloodbath. Bitcoin briefly rallied to $83K today, and XRP reclaimed $2.20 after previously dipping below $2. Meanwhile, analysts warn that the danger is not yet over, with the possibility of further price drops.

Edoardo Farina, Alpha Lions Academy’s founder, shared his insights on navigating a potential bearish scenario for XRP. He offered both caution and optimism for investors.

Worst-Case Scenario for XRP

According to Farina, Bitcoin’s performance is one of the key factors influencing XRP’s price in the near term.

He stressed that if BTC fails to hold the crucial $72K support level, it could lead to a steep decline, possibly crashing toward the $50K range. For context, Bitcoin is trading at $83,000 at press time.

At this price, Bitcoin holds near the 61.80% Fibonacci level on the daily chart, as The Crypto Basic recently analyzed. It signals a potential post-retest reversal, especially given the initial intraday pullback. The analysis warns of a possible drop to $75,000, aligning with the 50.0% Fibonacci level.

With this Bitcoin risk, commentators like Farina see a chain reaction that drives XRP down to as low as $1.20. This would mark a full $1 loss from the current level, or a 45% dip.

However, Farina also anticipates a flash crash that could send XRP as low as $0.90. From current levels, this would mean a 59% dip.

Meanwhile, he assures that this drop would be short-lived, lasting just a few minutes. He adds that XRP will likely rebound quickly from these lower levels.

Set Strategic XRP Buy Orders Below $1

While the chance of this worst-case scenario happening is relatively low, as Farina estimates it to be around 20%, he advises XRP investors to prepare for such an event. He suggests setting buy orders below $1 to take advantage of the potential dip.

Meanwhile, Farina remains confident that XRP will not fall below the $1.20 support level again. He believes that any drop will be short-term and followed by a rapid recovery.

“If this happens, I expect XRP to bounce above $2 quickly,” Farina concludes, offering optimism for long-term holders.

Other Bearish Signals

Aside from Bitcoin-influenced risk, other analysts have pointed out inherent risks in XRP’s chart that warn of a decline to $1. Specifically, these analysts have highlighted the formation of a bearish head and shoulders pattern on XRP’s chart, which projects a major correction ahead before a rebound to new highs.

Dogecoin Signals Rebound After Hitting Key Support: DOGE to $2?

0

Dogecoin shows signs of a rebound.

Crypto investors have had it rough over the past few months, and Dogecoin (DOGE) holders have been no exception.

The memecoin has fallen over 70% from a local high of $0.48434 to as low as $0.14280. But it may now be showing signs of a rebound, at least according to one leading analyst.

Dogecoin on Recovery Path

Dogecoin is showing signs of a rebound, according to leading crypto analyst Ali Martinez.

Martinez expressed this view in an X post on Tuesday, March 11, as the asset sharply bounced from recent lows to trade as high as $0.16944. He added that the memecoin had also flashed a TD Sequential buy signal on the daily candlestick chart.

The TD Sequential is an indicator that allows traders to identify price reversals using information from previous candle closes.

The recent price bounce and TD Sequential buy signal come as the memecoin has held a key support level recently highlighted by Martinez: $0.16.

The support level aligns with an intersection between the floor of an ascending channel that has persisted for years and the 0.786 Fibonacci retracement region on the weekly candle chart.

DOGE to $2?

On Sunday, March 10, Martinez had asserted that DOGE could kick off a rally to a new all-time high at $2, aligning with the midpoint of the ascending channel.

The chances of this run are likely increased by the recent respite from geopolitical tensions that have subdued risk assets. For one, Ukraine has agreed to a U.S. ceasefire deal in its conflict with Russia. At the same time, Canada has held off on retaliatory tariffs on the U.S. that promised to escalate trade war concerns.

Here’s Predicted Timeline for SEC to Approve Multiple XRP ETFs

0

Popular software engineer Vincent Van Code predicts that the U.S. SEC will likely approve multiple spot-based XRP ETFs in May 2025.

The expert made the bold prediction yesterday shortly after the securities regulator postponed its decision on Grayscale, Canary, and 21Shares spot XRP ETF filings.

The SEC extended the deadline, prompting investors to focus on the next approval date for other related filings.

Expert Sets May 22 As Possible Date For Multiple XRP ETF Approvals

Meanwhile, Vincent projects that the SEC will approve multiple XRP ETF applications on May 22, 2025. This date coincides with when the SEC will decide whether to approve or deny the launch of 21Shares XRP ETF.

The SEC’s decision on other XRP ETF filings, including those from Grayscale and Bitwise, falls within the May deadline. Specifically, the SEC must decide on Grayscale’s request to convert its XRP Trust to a spot ETF by May 21. Its decision on Bitwise XRP ETF must come on or before May 25.

Consequently, Vincent identified May 22 as the possible date the SEC will likely approve multiple XRP ETF applications.

Potential Impact of XRP ETFs

He emphasized that even though the approvals may not immediately impact XRP’s price, they could validate the coin as a legitimate digital asset. In his view, this legitimacy will position XRP as a suitable asset for investors seeking a regulated and liquid cryptocurrency.

Additionally, Vincent suggests that the approval will enable traditional investors with little or no knowledge about creating wallets and AML/KYC requirements to buy XRP using their existing shares’ trading accounts.

Notably, people who invest in the prospective XRP ETFs are not directly buying XRP. Instead, they are simply acquiring shares of the fund, giving them indirect exposure to XRP’s price action.

Meanwhile, the expert predicted that the ETF volumes will significantly impact the price of XRP over the next 12 months from the approval date. Nonetheless, he expects a short-term pump for XRP in reaction to the approval news.

Will the SEC Approve XRP ETFs in May?

Whether the SEC will approve at least one XRP ETF on May 22 remains to be seen. In the meantime, some argue that the ongoing lawsuit between the SEC and Ripple could challenge the potential approval of XRP ETFs.

Meanwhile, legal experts have stressed that XRP ETF approval is independent of Ripple’s lawsuit outcome.

Moreover, the SEC is shifting its crypto policies, prompting the termination and freezing of legal actions against crypto-related businesses. While it has not yet decided on the Ripple case due to a court ruling, Attorney Jeremy Hogan expects a resolution to occur by April/May 2025.

Hogan’s projected deadline aligns with the timeline Vincent expects the SEC to approve multiple XRP ETFs.

Finance Author Says Institutions Will Diversify from BTC into XRP as Franklin Files for 15th XRP ETF

0

A finance author has insisted that institutions will likely diversify from the Bitcoin and Ethereum-only approach to add XRP ETFs to their portfolio.

This comment came from Linda P. Jones, a wealth mentor and author of the “3 Steps to Quantum Wealth” finance book, on the back of $1.53 trillion asset manager Franklin Templeton’s recent filing to launch an XRP ETF product, adding to a series of similar filings from leading asset managers.

Notably, Franklin Templeton’s interest brought the total potential XRP ETFs to a record 15, the highest for any single crypto asset. For context, Bitcoin, the pioneering crypto asset, witnessed 11 filings, while Ethereum saw only 8 filings. Other assets have also observed less filings.

XRP’s filings for a record 15 ETFs have triggered bullish commentaries from community members, who suggest that this figure translates to massive demand for XRP investment products. Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan confirmed this, revealing last month that there is a massive demand for XRP products.

No Demand?

However, Scott Melker, Host of the Wolf of All Streets, believes otherwise. Following Franklin Templeton’s filing and the euphoria within the XRP camp, Melker called attention to what he sees as the crypto industry filing for “endless ETFs.” According to him, he’s okay with this trend.

Nonetheless, the market pundit suggested that despite these multiple filings, investors might not actually buy these products “anytime soon.” Essentially, he argued that these ETFs, even after approval, would not attract substantial demand, except the Bitcoin products, which are already massively successful.

Notably, this commentary was partly accurate for Ethereum ETFs, which have seen low interest despite launching last July. For context, Bitcoin ETFs have attracted $35.4 billion in cumulative net inflows since January 2024. In contrast, the Ethereum products have only seen $2.63 billion in netflows since July 2024.

Institutions Could Diversify into XRP ETFs

Meanwhile, reacting to Melker’s recent comments, Linda Jones argued that Institutions will likely change their Bitcoin and Ethereum-only investment approach. This is likely due to recent market conditions, with XRP outperforming Bitcoin by 212% since November and gaining nearly 250% against Ethereum within the same timeframe.

“Institutions will diversify out of Bitcoin/Eth only and add XRP ETFs to their portfolio,” Jones insisted, emphasizing her conviction that institutions will show interest in XRP investment products once they launch.

Also, with Franklin Templeton filing for the 15th prospective XRP ETF, other proponents have argued that asset managers do not file for an ETF unless there is already demand for the product, seeking to counter Melker’s assertion.

Besides Franklin Templeton, other leading asset managers that have filed to launch XRP ETF products include Grayscale, 21Shares, Bitwise and Canary Capital, with ProShares and Volatility Shares each filing for three products. Hashdex and Purpose Investments have filed for non-U.S. products.

Some suggest that leading asset managers such as VanEck, Fidelity, Galaxy Digital, and Invesco have filed for XRP ETFs, but this claim is false at press time.

Solana Real Economic Value Tanks 90%: What’s Next for SOL?

Solana holds above $120, fueling anticipation of a bullish comeback. However, declining revenues warn of a potential crash ahead.

With the crypto market at a potential crossroad of a bullish comeback, Solana is witnessing a minor recovery above $120. Notably, SOL is down by 14% in the past seven days.

Amid the minor recovery, there’s growing anticipation for a possible bullish comeback. However, analysts warn of a potential downfall for Solana.

Solana Sell Signal

On the daily chart, Solana’s price trend shows a quick bullish recovery, with a 5.98% surge on March 11. This ends a streak of five consecutive bearish candles but fails to establish a new bullish trend.

With an intraday pullback of 1.14%, Solana is trading at $123.94. This short-term reversal could be a retest of the broken $130 demand-turned-supply zone.

Solana’s decline from its all-time high of $295 has resulted in nearly a 60% drop. This has led to a “death cross” event between the 50 and 200 EMA lines.

Moreover, the 100 and 200 EMA lines are on the verge of crossing over bearishly, which would trigger a strong sell signal from the EMA lines.

Declining Meme Coin Trading Volume is Hurting Solana

Brandon Farmer, an analyst at ZeroKnowledge Polygon, questions Solana’s real economic value. According to the analyst, the previous spike in Solana’s real economic value (REV) was driven by high meme coin trading activity on decentralized exchanges.

The surge in meme coin trading led to a significant demand for block space, with transactions per second increasing as speculative traders executed large volumes of trades. This created a “SOL wealth effect,” driving up the SOL price, generating more liquidity, and increasing risk appetite.

However, with the recent price drop in Solana, traders have become more risk-averse. Additionally, the decline in meme coin activity on the Solana network has sharply dropped its REV.

Solana’s weekly REV has dropped 90% from its all-time high, indicating a massive decline in the network’s ability to generate sustainable transaction fees. As Farmer notes:

“Meme coin trading volume is both unsustainable and mercenary.”

Analyst Warns SOL Price Drop Below $1

Supporting the possibility of a massive crash in Solana, technical analyst Gert van Lagen has pointed out a double-top formation in the SOL price trend. On the weekly chart, van Lagen identifies a key double-top formation in Solana’s price, with the meme season now over.

The analyst also highlights that Solana’s failed non-vote transaction rate has risen to 75%. Given the bearish divergence and the double-top formation, the analyst suggests the possibility of a downswing below $1.

Pundit Explains Why XRP Is Set for a Massive Price Surge Soon

In a series of tweets, influential XRP community figure “All Things XRP” shared compelling arguments for why XRP could soon experience a massive price surge.

The idea revolves around tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs) on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), with a particular focus on tokenized gold.

“Gold on the Blockchain = More Demand for XRP”

According to the commentator, the crypto industry is entering a new financial era where real-world assets like gold and real estate are moving onto blockchain platforms.

Tokenizing these assets allows them to trade more efficiently and securely. All Things XRP argues that the XRP Ledger is in a perfect position to take the lead in this space. He painted a scenario where market participants could buy and sell gold as a tokenized asset on the XRPL.

In this scenario, every transaction would need XRP as a bridge currency, facilitating liquidity. He believes that as institutional investors and traders enter the market, demand for XRP will increase, helping its price soar.

Last year, Ripple expanded its partnership with Archax to tokenize RWAs on the XRPL. Ripple aims “to bring hundreds of millions of dollars” in RWAs to XRPL, further establishing it as a leading network for tokenization.

Ripple’s development arm, RippleX, has also partnered with Zoniqx to enhance multi-asset tokenization on the XRPL.

More Liquidity into XRPL

Furthermore, All Things XRP explained that the influx of tokenized assets, such as gold, will naturally attract large institutions, including banks, asset managers, and other financial players. These institutions will require XRP to execute transactions, creating a positive feedback loop.

The view is that more liquidity flowing through the XRPL will strengthen the ecosystem and lead to a higher valuation for XRP.

Reducing Supply, Increasing Demand

A crucial aspect of the XRP ecosystem is its built-in deflationary mechanism. Every transaction on the XRPL requires a small transaction fee that the network burns.

The community figure stressed that as more transactions occur, the supply of XRP decreases, which can lead to upward price pressure.

For context, the XRP network has only burned 13.663 million XRP tokens from its 100 billion supply. In perspective, this means only 0.0137% of the XRP supply has been burned.

While the figures are minimal, pundits continue to cite the existence of the burn mechanism as a bullish factor.

XRP as Collateral Amid Bank Use

Meanwhile, the tweet emphasizes that institutional adoption of the XRPL is already underway. It cited that Ripple’s On-Demand Liquidity service (now Ripple Payments) is transforming cross-border payments. Notably, this service uses XRP to facilitate transactions.

All Things XRP argued that banks and financial institutions adopting the XRPL to trade tokenized assets will likely integrate XRP for settlement.

Lastly, the commentator noted that new opportunities for XRP use as collateral for loans, yield farming, and other financial products could emerge as DeFi on XRPL expands.

He believes that introducing tokenized gold-backed financial products would open new avenues for XRP to be leveraged, potentially fueling another massive demand surge.
