UNI Gearing Up for Potential Bull Run

Uniswap’s price is currently between $7.33 and $10.58. The coin has faced a downward trend over the past month, with prices dropping by a quarter. Yet, its half-year growth rate is almost 48%. UNI’s RSI is 44.85, signaling it’s not overbought. The price movement shows potential for a climb, with resistance at $12 and $15.27. Support levels are at $5.52 and $2.26. Its recent one-week gain of 3.4% could indicate a bullish turn. With traders bracing for altcoin season, UNI might break through resistance, aiming for significant percentage gains and higher price levels. The close SMA values also hint at stable price consolidation and possible upward movement.

Litecoin Poised for Big Moves Amid High Volatility

Litecoin is currently trading between $88.93 and $117.50. The coin recently saw a weekly surge of 17.19% and a monthly rise of 23.30%. Over six months, it’s up an impressive 82.07%. Support is at $70.73, while resistance looms at $127.86. The 10-day simple moving average of $122.28 suggests potential for growth. A relative strength index of 48.52 indicates room to move upwards before hitting overbought levels. If Litecoin can break past the immediate resistance, it could target $156. Traders eyeing the second resistance level might see gains of over 30%. Keep watching Litecoin; its bullish trends and movement against resistance and support hint at significant upside potential.

DOT’s Potential Rally: Eyeing Resistance Levels

Polkadot (DOT) is showing promise with a recent price range of $3.95 to $5.43. Its 9.34% rise over the past week signals bullish momentum. The 10-day simple moving average of $5.15 hovering above the 100-day average of $4.94 supports short-term growth potential. DOT’s RSI is at 53.37, showing strength without overbought conditions. The nearest resistance is $6.10, and a break through could see DOT aim for the second resistance of $7.58, a potential gain of over 20%. While the month saw a dip of 19.53%, the coin’s 6-month rise of 20.05% is encouraging for bulls. Watch closely as DOT positions for a potential run.

PancakeSwap Price Soars: Could It Reach New Heights?

PancakeSwap (CAKE) is showing an upward trend. Its price is hovering between $1.19 and $2.21. With the nearest resistance level at $2.70, there is strong potential for a climb if this level is breached. The coin has already seen a 106.9% jump in just one week. If it continues this pace, breaking the second resistance at $3.72 could be possible. The 10-day moving average is higher than the current range, suggesting bullish momentum. The RSI at 62.59 supports a potential uptrend. Investors might see more gains in the short term. Eyes are on CAKE as a potential big winner in the coming altcoin season.

Conclusion

While UNI, LTC, DOT, and CAKE may show less short-term potential, Catzilla emerges as the ultimate meme coin hero, aiming to bring financial freedom to everyone. With a remarkable 700% ROI potential during its presale, triple utility features, and a mission to unite crypto enthusiasts, Catzilla invites participation in the battle against crypto villains.

These 5 Small Cap Gems Could Turn $1K Into $100K In 2025

0

Investors are always looking for the next big opportunity, and small-cap assets often provide the best potential for massive returns. In 2025, five small-cap gems—Tron (TRX), Stellar (XLM), ChowWow ($CHOW), Chia (XCH), and Aave (AAVE)—could be poised for explosive growth. Let’s examine what makes these top altcoins promising and why they could turn a $1,000 investment into $100,000.

Tron (TRX): The Rising DeFi Power House

Tron’s distinctiveness stands out among top altcoins for cryptocurrency investors seeking something new in the market because of its emphasis on entertainment and the sharing of creative content. Tron is a decentralized network explicitly made for creatives who want to earn money. Furthermore, Tron enables developers to produce their currencies and utilize them on their dApps within the Tron network. Tron is still a small-cap cryptocurrency that is worth keeping an eye on since it has the potential to provide strong long-term returns.

Stellar (XLM): Revolutionizing Cross-Border Payments

Stellar is an open-source, decentralized network that allows users to transfer digital currencies, including Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin (BTC), and its own Stellar Lumens token, for little cost across cross-border transfers. Stellar, one of the most competitive and alluring cryptocurrencies available today, is based on the Ripple (XRP) Lab protocol and aims to be a more cost-effective choice for cross-border trading. There is no denying Stellar’s potential for expansion.

In addition to offering a wide range of digital currencies on its network, Stellar holders can also hold US dollars, Euros, and Chinese yuan. As the cryptocurrency receives more recognition worldwide, it could potentially add more international currencies. Analysts predict that by the end of the year, the XLM token might be worth $1, potentially turning a $1k investment into $100k. Stellar is the best crypto to buy in 2025 if you’re looking for a long-term investment incorporating all of these factors.

Chia (XCH): Sustainable Blockchain with Limitless Potential

Chia offers an intriguing chance for development in the upcoming cycle. Chia is an environmentally friendly blockchain solution that tackles one of the main objections to cryptocurrencies: their environmental effect. Compared to conventional mining, Chia’s novel “Proof of Space and Time” consensus technique uses less energy.

Chia’s ecological credentials may encourage more acceptance and investment as environmental issues continue influencing the cryptocurrency industry. The DeFi token is positioned as a possible long-term rival to Ethereum due to its emphasis on programmability and smart contract features. Chia may experience rapid expansion if it can secure even a small share of the smart contract market.

Aave (AAVE): Leading the Future of Decentralized Lending

Aave is a decentralized open-source financial technology that lets users earn interest on deposits and lets cryptocurrency holders lend and borrow without undergoing a credit check. Additionally, Aave functions as a governance token, allowing cryptocurrency owners to influence the platform’s future direction. Analysts predict the DeFi token could turn a $1K investment into $100k by the end of 2025.

ChowWow ($CHOW): The MemeCoin with Real Utility

ChowWow is a new crypto in the memecoin space that offers play-to-earn and stake-to-earn features to its investors. It is a Solana-based memecoin aiming to deliver faster transaction speeds and cheaper fees. The Chow Chow dog breed serves as the foundation for the ChowWow ecosystem. Despite still being in the early stages, analysts have forecasted it as a potential altcoin that could deliver up to $100k for a $1k investment.

However, gaming is where ChowWow truly shines. While the ChowWow Kingdom will be accessible to everyone, only $CHOW holders can benefit from play-to-earn incentives, which means that in-game purchases, virtual pet boosts, and staking incentives are all tied to the token itself. This model maintains high engagement levels while guaranteeing the long-term viability of the token economy, making it the best crypto to buy this season.

Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, and Bonk have already demonstrated that memecoins have the power to challenge the market. However, $CHOW’s ability to provide real utility and a vision beyond the pump-and-dump cycle is astounding. There is a discount, the presale is open, and the further upside? Early buyers may soon be sitting on millions if it hits the 1000x mark.

Conclusion

It is important to remember that these small-cap tokens offer the potential for significant returns. These innovative projects may be at the forefront of the next wave of adoption and growth, potentially delivering the 1,000% returns that cryptocurrency enthusiasts dream of. However, ChowWow is gaining remarkable traction, demonstrating that memecoins don’t have to be a gamble. It has the technology, the buzz, and a compelling angle that may help it remain relevant long after launch.

Here Are Number of Shiba Inu Millionaires at Current SHIB Price of $0.000016

0

Shiba Inu price recovery boosts the number of millionaires holding SHIB, with significant gains seen in whale portfolios.

Shiba Inu is recovering quickly from the recent downturn that almost added a zero to the coin’s value. As of press time, Shiba Inu is up 3% today, trading at $0.00001632. Today’s uptrend has improved SHIB’s weekly performance, which is now in the green.

While SHIB remains down significantly by 24% on the monthly chart, the holdings of whales and retail investors are gradually improving.

Shiba Inu Millionaires at Current Price

Notably, at its current price of $0.00001632, Shiba Inu millionaires hold at least a portfolio of 62 billion SHIB tokens. According to data from the analysis platform IntoTheBlock, 1,580 wallets currently hold between $100,000 and $1 million in SHIB. Cumulatively, these SHIB holders control a collective net worth of over $600 million.

Meanwhile, those with a portfolio worth $1 million to $10 million in Shiba Inu now number 880 addresses. Remarkably, these holders command a massive portfolio collectively worth over $3 billion.

For those holding above $10 million, IntoTheBlock shows just 75 addresses in this category. Interestingly, despite their smaller number, their collective worth exceeds $13 billion.

Notably, as of two weeks ago, the number of addresses in this millionaire threshold was slightly higher. For instance, those holding $1 million to $10 million numbered 905 wallets, while those above this range totaled 93 addresses.

The reduction follows Shiba Inu’s price dip to $0.0000123 in the first week of February, with holders cutting their losses by selling some of their holdings. Nonetheless, with Shiba Inu’s price rebounding by over 32% from its low, whales’ holdings are gradually improving.

Wallets with 1 Million SHIB Holdings

On the retail side, those holding 1 million to 10 million SHIB tokens now number over 572,000 addresses. However, in dollar terms, these 572,000 wallets hold an average of only $16 to $162 in SHIB.

Meanwhile, about 494,000 wallets hold fewer than 1 million SHIB tokens. This large pool of SHIB wallets (0 to 10 million) cumulatively possesses 2.14 trillion tokens worth $37 million.

The third-largest tier of SHIB wallets is those holding between 10 million and 100 million tokens. IntoTheBlock data shows 303,000 addresses in this range, collectively holding $159 million worth of SHIB.

Ultimately, these statistics show that only a handful of addresses fall within the millionaire threshold. Despite their density, the overwhelming majority make up a smaller fraction of the Shiba Inu holder spectrum.

Bitcoin Miners Face Delays in Receiving New Equipment in Escalating Trade War: Reports

0

U.S. Customs and Border Protection are reportedly seizing Bitcoin mining rigs.

Among several promises made to the crypto industry on the campaign trail, President Donald Trump emphasized that he wanted Bitcoin to be “made in the USA.” But the U.S.’s desire to get one up on China may now be hindering this goal.

Customs Hold on To Bitcoin Mining Equipment at Great Cost to Miners

U.S. Bitcoin mining firms are facing significant delays in receiving new equipment amid seizures from Customs and Border Protection under the direction of the Federal Communications Commission, Blockspace reported on Wednesday, February 12.

This report has since been corroborated by Bloomberg on Thursday, February 13.

One source, in particular, has claimed that customs officials are holding up over 2,000 rigs belonging to it.

Most of the seizures appear to be affecting equipment manufactured by Chinese giant Bitmain, the world’s leading producer of Bitcoin mining rigs.

While the reason for the seizures is unclear, miners believe that they are tied to scrutiny of Sopgho, a Bitmain-affiliated chip manufacturer. The company came under scrutiny after one of its chips was allegedly discovered in a Huawei device and has since been added to a restricted U.S. trade list.

Miners say these customs delays started in line with the Sopgho scrutiny and have exacerbated since the firm became blacklisted. This suggests that the customs agency could be trying to confirm whether imported mining rigs contain chips from the restricted Sopgho, though there is no official statement to this effect yet.

Miners have also noted that they are forced to pay egregious fees, sometimes exceeding half a million dollars, on top of the delays, depending on the number of mining rigs and how long they have been held.

These delays and fees, meanwhile, come on top of new tariffs imposed on Chinese imports by Trump.

The situation is concerning for miners as it could impact their competitiveness by limiting access to the latest machinery. This may also have a spillover effect on the health of the Bitcoin network in general, as mining is now concentrated in the U.S. following China’s 2021 crypto ban.

Tether May Sell $8 Billion in Bitcoin Holdings to Address US Compliance Risks

0

Tether’s substantial Bitcoin holdings and compliance with emerging U.S. stablecoin regulations have drawn the attention of financial analysts.

Recent disclosures indicate that the stablecoin issuer holds approximately 83,759 BTC, valued at over $8.02 billion. This amount represents 0.4% of Bitcoin’s total supply.

Meanwhile, latest analysis by JPMorgan has noted that maintaining such assets may pose regulatory challenges as new stablecoin policies take shape in the United States and Europe.

Tether’s Bitcoin Reserves and Compliance Risks

Tether’s Bitcoin reserves increased on December 30, when a wallet associated with the company acquired 8,404 BTC worth $776.6 million.

JPMorgan analysts have assessed Tether’s reserve compliance with U.S. stablecoin regulations. They estimate that only 66% to 83% of its reserves meet proposed standards, marking a decline in compliance levels since mid-2024.

The rise in stablecoin supply has contributed to this shift. Analysts suggest that regulatory adjustments could require the company to divest certain non-compliant assets, including Bitcoin, corporate notes, secured loans, and precious metals.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino commented on social media platform X, suggesting that JPMorgan analysts’ dissatisfaction stems from not holding Bitcoin.

Proposed US Stablecoin Regulations

The evolving U.S. stablecoin regulatory landscape presents varying requirements under different legislative proposals. The Senate’s GENIUS Act mandates federal oversight for stablecoins with a market capitalization exceeding $10 billion.

It allows state-level regulation only if it aligns with federal guidelines. Meanwhile, the House’s STABLE Act offers more flexibility, permitting state regulation without additional conditions.

Differences in reserve requirements also distinguish the two bills. The STABLE Act enforces stricter standards, limiting reserves to insured deposits, U.S. Treasury bills, short-term Treasury repos, and central bank reserves.

The Senate’s version provides more leeway by including money market funds and reverse repos. Additionally, the Senate proposal prioritizes stablecoin holders in issuer bankruptcy cases, further shaping how issuers manage their reserves.

Previous Regulatory Scrutiny

Tether faces further regulatory scrutiny in Europe under the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) legislation. Per reports from last year, the law required stablecoin issuers to allocate at least 60% of reserves to European banks.

Analysts indicated that Tether’s reserve composition requires restructuring to comply with these regulations.

The report highlighted past concerns regarding Tether’s transparency in disclosing its reserve composition. The analysts suggested that new regulatory frameworks could increase pressure for greater financial disclosures and audits. Non-compliance with these rules may impact the stablecoin issuer’s market position as competition intensifies.

Taurus Launches Solana-Based Custody and Tokenization Platforms for Banks

0

Leading digital asset infrastructure firm Taurus launches enterprise-grade custody and tokenization platforms on the Solana network.

The platforms, dubbed Taurus-PROTECT and Taurus-CAPITAL, will allow Taurus to cater to traditional financial institutions, particularly banks, aiming to custody and issue tokenized assets.

With the platforms built on Solana, these users can leverage the network’s efficiency and speed to custody, stake, and issue tokenized assets.

Users can stake and custody these tokenized assets via Taurus-PROTECT, while those seeking to issue programmable tokenized assets on the Solana blockchain can do so through Taurus-CAPITAL.

Motive Behind the Launch

Commenting on the development, Taurus’ head of global strategic partnership, Jürgen Hofbauer, said the launch is part of efforts to address the growing demand for real-world asset (RWA) tokenization solutions.

According to him, the integration with Solana allows Taurus’ banking clients to tokenize various assets, including debt, equity, structured products, and CBDCs. He emphasized that customers can custody and tokenize these assets while reducing costs and other operational complexities.

The newly launched platforms are part of the RWA tokenization industry, which has continued to gain traction. This initiative involves converting real-world assets, like real estate, into digital tokens by managing and trading them on a blockchain.

Taurus’ RWA Tokenization Efforts

Taurus has been positioning itself as a major digital asset infrastructure provider. Since its launch, it has received financial support from prominent financial institutions, including Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse, and Investis.

In a February 2023 Series B funding round, when it raised $65 million from Deutsche Bank and other financial entities, Taurus projected that the digital asset industry could surpass a valuation of $10 trillion.

It emphasized that the industry could achieve this milestone by tokenizing private assets on the blockchain. As of 2023, Taurus has helped several issuers, including asset managers and banks, to tokenize at least 15 financial deals.

Not relenting, the company launched its custody and tokenization platforms to allow banks and other issuers to custody and issue real-world assets on Solana.

Growing Adoption of Solana

Meanwhile, Solana has been gaining widespread adoption as it gradually becomes a hub for multiple crypto-related projects.

Yesterday, leading asset manager Franklin Templeton expanded its tokenized money market fund, the OnChain U.S. Government Money Market Fund (FOBXX), to Solana. The move follows Franklin’s efforts to launch a spot Solana ETF in the United States.

As previously reported, the asset manager registered a Solana Trust in Delaware, with the company expected to file an S-1 document with the SEC in the coming days.

Ethereum Faces Oversold Conditions: Experts Weigh in on Buying Opportunities

0

As the Ethereum relative strength index (RSI) dips to 36%, a historically oversold level, crypto investors are eyeing potential buying opportunities.

Despite the ongoing bullish momentum in Bitcoin, Ethereum’s trajectory has been discouraging. A recently shared chart by analyst Marzell shows that Ethereum has lagged behind Bitcoin for up to six months.

However, according to Markus Thielen of 10x Research, ETH’s movement has created a high-risk, high-reward environment.

High-Risk, High-Reward Environment for Ethereum

In a statement, Thielen pointed out that Ethereum has experienced more fluctuations compared to Bitcoin in recent times, with its price movement showing less predictable patterns.

Thielen believes this volatility could present significant opportunities for investors, citing upcoming catalysts such as ETF approvals, major network upgrades, and new trading launches.

However, he acknowledged that market sentiment surrounding Ethereum is currently negative.

For instance, a separate post by analyst Michaël van de Poppe pointed out that the number of short positions on ETH has hit an all-time high, emphasizing a massively bearish sentiment among market participants.

However, Thielen stressed that history suggests overly pessimistic views can signal buying opportunities.

“Ethereum is not a token to get emotionally attached to. History shows that when sentiment turns overwhelmingly negative, opportunities can emerge,” Thielen wrote.

Furthermore, he explained that the recent price drop might present an attractive risk/reward setup, especially with other ecosystems, like Solana, losing momentum due to issues such as the TRUMP meme coin collapse and the slowdown in coin issuance with Pump.fun.

With multiple catalysts on the horizon, Thielen believes Ethereum could be ready for a comeback, making now a potentially favorable time to buy for investors looking to capitalize on the volatility.

Other Analysts’ Views on ETH

Interestingly, several other market analysts have voiced similarly bullish sentiments around Ethereum. Analyst “Crypto Caesar” reminded community members in a tweet today that the first quarter of every fourth cycle has historically been bullish for ETH, citing patterns from 2017 (up 353%) and 2021 (soared 167%).

Based on this, he argued that March could be promising for Ethereum.

Image

Further, renowned influencer Crypto Rover expressed a similar view, saying Ethereum “is about to explode,” also citing historical patterns. He projected ETH’s price could reach well above $22,500 if it fully replicates history.

Others agree with these optimistic perspectives, with some warning, “you are not bullish enough.”

Ethereum Foundation Adopts DeFi Strategy, Sends 45,000 ETH to Aave, Spark, and Compound

0

The Ethereum Foundation has harkened to community clamoring, sending $120 million worth of ETH to DeFi lending platforms in a new treasury strategy.

Market intelligence platform Arkham disclosed that the Ethereum Foundation’s multi-signature account moved a substantial part of its Ether stash to DeFi protocols. Specifically, the wallet transferred 45,000 ETH, worth $120 million, to three recipients.

DeFi platforms Aave, MakerDAO’s Spark, and Compound were the recipients of the tokens. They received 30,800 ETH ($82.2 million), 10,000 ETH ($26.7 million), and 4,200 ETH ($11.24 million), respectively.

New DeFi Strategy

Meanwhile, the shift is part of the Foundation’s new treasury strategy. This followed a hierarchical change in the non-profit organization’s leadership team amid growing community criticisms.

The Ethereum Foundation would start receiving yields on the tokens it recently moved to the DeFi platforms. The new strategy would serve as a means of earning extra funds without selling its Ether stash to fund operational costs.

Moreover, the 1.5% supply rate estimation suggests that the positions could accrue up to $1.5 million for the Foundation, relieving the growing burden of incessantly selling its Ethereum.

The Ethereum Foundation confirmed the move in a tweet on Thursday. Notably, the agency further disclosed that it would explore other options to boost its treasury, including staking.

Ethereum Foundation Heeds to Community Backlash

Before now, the Ethereum community had vehemently opposed the Foundation’s treasury strategy. Most concerns have been about its periodical Ether sales to fund operational expenses and their detrimental effect on the sentiment and price of the asset.

Although co-founder Vitalik Buterin publicly defended the NGO’s operations, the roar intensified. Ethereum enthusiasts called for a change in the leadership cadre, including suggestions to sack executive director Aya Miyaguchi.

Meanwhile, the community welcomed the recent development. One user applauded the move, calling it “smart treasury management.” However, another user asked for more deployments to DeFi protocols, stating that “these are rookie numbers” and that the Foundation needs to “pump those numbers up.”

Short-Term and Long-Term Bitcoin Holders Have Now Reduced Sell-Offs: Is a Rebound Imminent?

0

Bitcoin holders recently showed signs of confidence, with both short-term and long-term investors reducing sell-offs.

Blockchain data indicates traders are selling fewer coins at a loss, suggesting reduced panic. Notably, this trend could set the stage for a potential price rebound, with macroeconomic factors and institutions potentially driving growth.

Short-Term Holders Reduce Sell-Offs at Loss

In one of its latest analyses, Glassnode reported that short-term Bitcoin holders, those who held BTC for less than 155 days, significantly reduced their sell-offs at a loss.

The seven-day moving average of Bitcoin sold in loss had risen to a high of about 5,500 BTC earlier this month. However, this figure has now dropped to about 3,800 BTC, aligning with the yearly average of 3,500 BTC.

Although February’s sell-off volume is mildly higher, it stays below the August 2023 top of 7,500 BTC. According to Glassnode, this suggests that short-term holders are under less pressure to sell in comparison to previous market downturns.

Long-Term Holders Maintain Stability

Moreover, the analytics firm also highlighted that long-term Bitcoin holders, those who have held their BTC for more than 155 days, remained largely unaffected by volatility.

Bitcoin Spent Volume in Loss Glassnode
Bitcoin Spent Volume in Loss Glassnode

Their losses had been rather minimal over the past year, with the weekly average never going above 500 BTC. Glassnode confirmed that by recent measurements, this number had fallen to nearly zero.

The resilience of long-term investors indicates that they are not reacting to short-term price movements, bolstering Bitcoin’s strong support levels. Specifically, their reluctance to sell suggests confidence in Bitcoin’s long-term growth.

Bitcoin Whale Activity Shows Strong Support

Meanwhile, CryptoQuant analyst Axel Adler Jr. recently observed that new Bitcoin whales, or large holders who have held BTC for less than 155 days, have an average realized price of $89,200. He believes this level has become a major support zone during Bitcoin’s current consolidation phase.

Adler Jr. noted that whales who bought at this price would likely not sell at a loss, which could help market stability. He also pointed out that, besides a major panic-driven sell-off in September 2023, Bitcoin holders had mostly realized more profits than losses.

In a separate disclosure, Adler Jr. further argued that the relatively low amount of Bitcoin sold at a loss makes profit trends more significant in this market cycle. He noted that during Bitcoin’s previous consolidation at $70,000, it took about two months to establish momentum for the next rally.

However, he believes the current market dynamics have shifted. He noted that Bitcoin’s price movements were now more influenced by external news events, particularly discussions surrounding the U.S. President Donald Trump and the potential Bitcoin strategic reserve.

He suggested that such developments could speed up Bitcoin’s next upward push, deviating from past macro cycles.

Liquidity Factors Could Boost Bitcoin Price

To add to the bullish outlook, crypto analyst Miles Deutscher highlighted a potential liquidity boost from the U.S. Treasury General Account (TGA) drawdown, which could occur as a result of issues around the debt ceiling.

He argued that this situation functions similarly to quantitative easing (QE), effectively injecting liquidity into the economy.  Deutscher pointed out that Bitcoin had rallied significantly during previous TGA drawdowns. In December 2022, BTC surged 84%, while in June 2023, it gained 23%.

Currently, Bitcoin changes hands at $95,896. From this level, an 84% rally would push the asset to $176,448, while a 23% increase would send it to $117,952, both of which would represent new all-time highs.

National Bank of Canada Invests $2M in Bitcoin ETFs

0

The National Bank of Canada has made a notable move in the crypto market by purchasing Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) valued at $2 million.

This development follows increased institutional engagement in Bitcoin investment products and signals growing interest from traditional financial entities.

Market participants view the move as a potential signal of growing institutional interest in Bitcoin. Accordingly, some suggest that other Canadian banks could follow suit.

A Start of a Broader Trend?

Some interpret the purchase as the start of a broader trend, with institutions increasing their exposure to Bitcoin through regulated investment vehicles. The move aligns with the ongoing shift in traditional finance, where banks and asset managers gradually integrate Bitcoin into their portfolios.

However, skepticism remains within the crypto community. Some critics question why banks are opting for ETFs rather than holding Bitcoin directly. They argue that ETFs do not provide the same benefits as self-custody.

Others view the reliance on ETFs as a cautious approach that allows institutions to gain exposure to Bitcoin while mitigating regulatory and security concerns.

Meanwhile, BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF launch in Canada has expanded options for investors seeking exposure to Bitcoin through regulated financial instruments.

Institutional Interest in Bitcoin ETFs Grows

BlackRock Asset Management Canada Limited recently introduced the iShares Bitcoin ETF. It trades under the tickers IBIT and IBIT.U on Cboe Canada, a primary stock exchange in the country.

The ETF provides a regulated method for investors to access Bitcoin through traditional brokerage accounts. Designed to track Bitcoin’s price movements, the fund allocates most of its assets to the U.S.-based iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (U.S. IBIT), primarily consisting of long-term Bitcoin holdings.

The launch of the iShares Bitcoin ETF comes amid increasing institutional involvement in Bitcoin-related investment products. As spot Bitcoin ETFs gained traction, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a streak of inflows in January.

Central Banks and Bitcoin Considerations

Reports suggest that central banks are evaluating potential Bitcoin investments. Standard Chartered’s Geoffrey Kendrick noted that U.S. President Trump’s discussions on crypto reserves could influence central banks to consider holding Bitcoin. The U.S. government currently holds over 198,000 Bitcoins and could expand its holdings.

In response, Czech National Bank Governor Ales Michl proposed allocating up to 5% of the central bank’s reserves into Bitcoin, with a meeting to discuss the proposal. Meanwhile, Bitcoin proponents in Switzerland advocated for a national vote to include Bitcoin in the Swiss National Bank’s reserves.

Bitcoin ETFs Gain Market Presence

Notably, crypto research firm Ecoinometrics recently highlighted the rising prominence of Bitcoin ETFs in the broader ETF market. According to data released on February 6, three Bitcoin ETFs have entered the top 100 by assets under management.

As of the release, BlackRock’s IBIT ranked 31st with approximately $56.5 billion in assets. Meanwhile, Fidelity’s FBTC ranked 89th with $20.4 billion, and Grayscale’s GBTC held 94th with $19.5 billion.
