Binance To Fully Acquire FTX Exchange

0

FTX Inks Partnership Deal With Binance to Clear Withdrawal Backlogs Following Insolvency Concern.

Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), CEO of FTX, has announced that the cryptocurrency exchange has reached a strategic partnership with Binance.

According to SBF, the cryptocurrency exchange is working to clear withdrawal backlogs caused by a widespread panic about FTX facing liquidity concerns.

In a tweet today, SBF said: “Things have come full circle, and http://FTX.com’s first, and last, investors are the same: we have come to an agreement on a strategic transaction with Binance for http://FTX.com.”

Notably, the strategic partnership will help clear out the withdrawal backlog FTX is currently faced with. SBF took time out to express gratitude to Changpeng Zhao, Binance CEO and founder, who agreed to the partnership, saying:

“A huge thank you to CZ, Binance, and all of our supporters. This is a user-centric development that benefits the entire industry. CZ has done, and will continue to do, an incredible job of building out the global crypto ecosystem, and creating a freer economic world.”

Reacting to the development, CZ also took to Twitter to announce the partnership, saying:

“To protect users, we signed a non-binding LOI, intending to fully acquire FTX.com and help cover the liquidity crunch. We will be conducting a full DD in the coming days.”

FTX’s troubles started after CZ announced that Binance would liquidate its FTT holdings as a post-risk management move. Traders sensed that the exchange might be on the brink of insolvency, thus prompting a huge amount of withdrawal requests from FTX to Binance.

Despite SBF dismissing all insolvency concerns, users were poised to move their funds out of FTX. As reported, FTX recorded nearly $1 billion in outflows in the past week after the exchange fell out with Binance.

FTX Coin (FTT) Risks Plummeting to Support at $10

0

FTT is at risk of dipping to a major support level at $10.70 as the asset sheds over 32% of its value in the past day amidst FTX’s insolvency concerns.

Analyses indicate that the native token of Sam Bankman-Fried’s FTX, FTT might be on the verge of falling to the support level at $10.70 before long. These projections follow the asset’s crash below the previous support zone at $21.03, as it plummets by 32% in the past 24 hours. CryptoQuant author Maartunn highlighted that the asset’s next support level is at the $10.70 level.

FTT, which had started the month with a value of $25, had seen minor dips in the past few days. Despite these instances of price drops as November progressed, the asset had held on to the support at $21.03, showing strong resilience at the price level.

Notwithstanding, the asset broke below the $22 zone following CZ’s remarks on Binance’s FTT holdings. CZ revealed on Sunday that Binance is looking to liquidate all its FTT holdings, amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars as a result of “recent revelations.”

Although the Binance chief assured the community that the exchange will sell off the assets in a way that reduces chances of a market impact, the decision has instigated a wave of terror, as several investors have taken to selling off their FTT holdings, with others taking their assets off FTX amidst insolvency concerns.

Amidst these worrisome reports, FTT has been majorly impacted by the recent trend of selloffs. The asset dropped from a value of $22.06 at 2:45 AM to  $15.4 at 5:45 AM (UTC) on Tuesday, marking a 30% dip in just three hours. Despite staging a slight comeback, the asset has been hit hard again, as it drops to a value of $14.7 as of press time, per data from TradingView.

The last time FTT traded at the $14.7 zone was in February of 2021. Following the break below the support at $21.03, there appears to be minimal signs of a reversal in the asset’s current price direction between its current price point and the support at $10.70. Consequently, analysts envision a drop to the psychological level at $10.

Furthermore, Blockchain reporter Colin Wu revealed that over $12M has been liquidated in the FTT Futures Market today. This marked the highest 24-hour liquidation in the asset’s history. The asset currently has a 140M buy order at a price point of $14 on FTX which is still live as of press time.

At present, FTT’s technicals are indicating a “strong sell” signal, according to TradingView. Despite witnessing Neutral zones at a value of 19 on its Relative Strength Index, the asset’s current MACD Level is in the red territory.

Meanwhile, FTX is witnessing a mass exodus of investors amidst these concerning situations. The Crypto Basic recently revealed that the exchange has witnessed nearly $1B in outflows in the past week, with a single whale moving out over $247M in USDT and USDC in less than 24 hours.

Nearly $1B Moved Out of FTX, As A Single Whale Withdraws $247M+ Amidst Insolvency Concerns

0

FTX has witnessed nearly $1B in outflows in the past week, with a whale withdrawing over $247M within a day as insolvency concerns gain steam amidst exchange’s clash with Binance.

FTX is experiencing a wave of bank runs, with $955M+ in outflows noticed in the past 7 days, and $487M+ withdrawn from the exchange within the past 48 hours. Additionally, a single whale appears to have withdrawn USDC and USDT worth $245M+ in a series of transactions within 24 hours.

The recent development has been highlighted by several sources within the cryptocurrency space, as tensions from Sam Bankman-Fried’s clash on Twitter with Binance’s CZ get more heated.

“Nearly $1B in capital has fled from FTX in the last week. If you hear a rumor (sic), always run first and ask questions later,” notable crypto writer Alpha reported through a tweet on Tuesday.

Details of the Transaction

They further shared a dashboard which highlights FTX Bank Run Counter. Data from the counter revealed that the platform has witnessed outflows worth $487M+ within two days, with $955M+ withdrawn from the exchange in the past week. The outflows were recorded from known Alameda and FTX accounts, Alpha said.

Furthermore, blockchain surveillance platform Lookonchain revealed that a single whale recently withdrew $245M+ worth of USDC and USDT in the past 24 hours in a series of transactions. The whale moved out 129.8M worth of USDC and 115.9M worth of USDT.

“A giant whale is worried about “bank run” on FTX and withdrawing USDC/USDT from #FTX Exchange. He withdrew 129.8M $USDC and 115.9M $USDT from #FTX Exchange in the past 24 hours. As soon as #FTX opens the withdrawal, he immediately withdraws stablecoins from #FTX,” Lookonchain disclosed in a tweet.

Reason Behind the Move

This sudden spike in outflows is suggestive of the magnitude of Fear Uncertainty and Doubt (FUD) the SBF’s current clash with Binance’s CZ has pumped into the space. Following the numerous debacles triggered by the Terra clash which caused investor losses to the tune of tens of billions, the crypto community has become rather alert to insolvency concerns.

Recall that CZ disclosed that Binance will be liquidating its FTT holdings as a “post-exit risk management” move as he refers to the issues experienced with the Terra collapse as a lesson to be learnt. The disclosure has birthed an exchange of words between CZ and SBF, leading to a mass withdrawal of funds from FTX as investors look to hedge against insolvency.

As these outflows persist, Crypto Rand pointed out that the BTC balance on FTX exchange has reached the negative territory, with a current BTC balance of -197, following a 24-hour change of -20,175. Additionally, The Crypto Basic highlighted a recent decline of BTC Reserve on exchanges, as reserves hit 4.5-year lows.

Notwithstanding, it appears certain investors are trooping to Binance as they ditch FTX. Chinese blockchain reporter Colin Wu noted that about 20% of the inflows Binance has seen in the past 7 days appear to be coming from FTX. The total assets are valued at about $1.17B.

More BabyDoge tokens were sent to the project’s official dead wallet.

Leading canine-themed crypto Baby Doge Coin (BabyDoge) continues to record massive burns daily. In a tweet today, Baby Doge Coin incinerated a whopping 12,608,955,771,906 (12.6 trillion) tokens from its total supply in the past 24 hours. The tokens were worth $16,972 at the time of the announcement.

BabyDoge Burns

Baby Doge Coin burns have gained momentum in recent weeks. The number of BabyDoge incarcerated daily has surged, as the team behind the project rolls out new ways to burn BabyDoge.

Following the launch of Baby Doge Swap, the native decentralized exchange of the project, the team announced it would use a part of the DEX fees to buy and burn BabyDoge.

Since the announcement was made, trillions of BabyDoge have been sent to a dead wallet. According to Burn BabyDoge, the Twitter accounts that track all ongoing burn efforts of the cryptocurrency, 199,257,919,697,287,872 (199.25 quadrillions) tokens, representing 47.442% of Baby Doge Coin’s total supply, have been incinerated so far.

New Burn Plans Unveiled

It does not seem like the team is planning to slow down the ongoing burn program for BabyDoge. TheCryptoBasic reported last week that Baby Doge Coin is planning to launch a burn portal. Baby Doge Coin made this known in a tweet, asking the community to propose ways it can adopt to encourage people to burn the token.

It is noteworthy that BabyDoge burn initiatives have not gone unnoticed. Last month, Baby Doge Coin was ranked as the top cryptocurrency project with the highest burn rate.

US Government Now Holds at Least 210,000 Bitcoin (BTC)

0

The US government now has at least 210,000 Bitcoin (BTC) worth over $4.3B, making it one of the largest BTC whales.

Following the disclosure of its 50,000 BTC confiscation, the US government now owns at least 210,000 BTC due to records of asset seizure from criminal activities, as highlighted by prominent crypto influencer Satoshi Stacker. This makes the United States one of the biggest BTC whales as selloff concerns brew.

“BREAKING: The US government now holds 210,000 Bitcoin. That’s roughly $4,300,000,000. It makes the US one of the largest Bitcoin whales out there.” Satoshi Stacker mentioned in a tweet Monday. The revelation has precipitated a wave of selloff concerns amongst several crypto proponents.

The US government’s total BTC holding was recently officially increased following the guilty plea from James Zhong. He masterminded a scheme to defraud the dark web marketplace Silk Road in September 2012. Zhong unlawfully amassed 50,676 BTC through the scheme.

Notwithstanding, in November of 2021, American authorities were able to confiscate the BTC in Zhong’s possession amidst a raid on his home, as previously reported. Zhong recently pleaded guilty to the charges brought on him, sealing the authorities’ claims to the BTC seized.

In November 2020, the US Department of Justice announced the seizure of about 70,000 BTC from a person dubbed “Individual X” by the agency. Once again, the assets were seized from a hacker who illegally obtained them on the Silk Road marketplace.

Furthermore, US authorities disclosed that they had confiscated about $3.6B in bitcoin from two individuals – Ilya Lichtenstein and his wife, Heather Morgan, who was connected with the Bitfinex hack in 2016. The DoJ revealed that the charges brought on the couple include a conspiracy to launder $4.5B in stolen cryptocurrency stolen from the Bitfinex hack.

The stats show the US government is one of the largest holders of Bitcoin, towering over even MicroStrategy with over 130,000 BTC on its balance sheets.

The US government has a pattern of auctioning off any crypto assets confiscated from criminal activities through its Marshall Services. In November last year, the authorities sold off $56M worth of cryptocurrencies seized from the BitConnect fraud scheme. The proceeds from the auctions are either used to compensate crime victims or distributed amongst government agencies.

The United States is not the only government with a large amount of BTC. Recently, CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju highlighted that the Chinese government has about 194K Bitcoin seized from the PlusToken scam in 2019.

Furthermore, Ki noted that Bulgarian authorities might own up to 200,000 BTC, as recently reported by The Crypto Basic. The assets were discovered in a customs-related crime bust, but the Bulgarian government has neither denied nor confirmed holding the assets.

North Korean Hackers Attack On Israeli Crypto Firm

0

Cybersecurity personnel has thwarted an attempted attack on an Israeli crypto firm masterminded by North Korean hackers.

Hackers originating from North Korea recently attempted to steal funds from an Israel-based crypto company but had their efforts frustrated by cybersecurity personnel.

The company, which remains unidentified at the time of writing, was attacked through an impersonation scheme in which the hackers positioned themselves as Japanese suppliers, Times Of Israel reports. The report notes that the hack mechanism was professional and sophisticated.

Notwithstanding the sophistication, the hack attempt was foiled by personnel from Tel Aviv-based cybersecurity company Konfidas. According to the local report, the appliances utilized in the hack were enigmatic, setting off “alarm bells in Israel.” There is an assertion that the funds would have gone towards fostering the nuclear program at the North Korean capital of Pyongyang, but this claim could be based on previous attacks from North Korean hacking groups.

North Korea’s cybercrime capabilities became apparent in 2014 following claims that it had hacked American entertainment firm Sony Pictures in retaliation for the 2014 movie “The Interview,” which ridiculed North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un.

Since then, several top hacks on central banks and government agencies have been linked to North Korea. Reports suggest that hackers from the country were responsible for the $60M theft from the leading Taiwanese financial entity, the Far Eastern International Bank.

Additionally, the 2017 global epidemic that was the WannaCry ransomware attack has been traced to hackers from North Korea. The crypto-related hack, which attacked computers using the Microsoft Windows OS, encrypted the data of the affected users and demanded payments in Bitcoin.

Furthermore, the Lazarus Heist of 2016, which saw $81M siphoned from the Bangladesh national bank, has been linked to North Korean hackers. The original plan of the cyber attack was to steal as much as $1B from the central bank of Bangladesh, but the damage was mitigated soon enough.

Amidst crippling sanctions, North Korean hackers had illegally procured over $300M worth of crypto assets in several attacks which went into developing the East Asian country’s nuclear weapons program, according to a confidential UN report previously leaked to the public.

Information from the document revealed that hackers from North Korea had explored vulnerabilities noticed in crypto exchanges and financial entities, stealing funds for the Pyongyang weapons program.

Popular Terra Classic Validator Opts For Grand Satire In Response To Claims That Do Kwon controls It

0

LUNC DAO chooses to respond to critics with humor as it pushes for technological parity with LUNAv2.

LUNC DAO, the Terra Classic network’s fourth-largest validator, has opted to take a satirical approach in response to criticisms and claims that Do Kwon controls it.

In a tweet moments ago, the group shared a 6-minute clip of Coach Bruce Wrangler, a possible LUNC DAO CEO, who describes himself as a “Cult Leader” at LUNC DAO, giving wild and comic analysis to support recent criticisms and claims.

“… I’ve programmed bots that track the activity of LUNC DAO and the Do Kwon Twitter page, and they never post at the same time, they’re always awake in the same timezone, and I’ve also done a 95% confidence interval for timeline of posting daily for the last three months, and it always aligns,” said Wrangler. “There’s no doubt in my mind, and also look at the agendas. If LUNC DAO wished to make as much profit as possible in the short term, they would strongly reject Do Kwon, yet they don’t care.”

The latest responses from the validator come as groups within the Terra Classic community express outrage at the possibility of the classic chain being associated with or operating pseudo-symbiotically with the LUNAv2 chain and developers being paid from the $4 million in off-chain funds. Notably, LUNC DAO has been championing the benefits of both.

According to LUNC DAO, Terra Classic achieving technological parity with the new Terra chain will allow projects building on the new chain to deploy easily on the classic network to take advantage of the budding user base. Consequently, LUNC DAO has asserted that the classic chain’s progress depends on LUNAv2.

Additionally, the validator speaking on the benefit of paying developers with newly discovered off-chain funds noted that it was necessary as spending from the multisig wallet could open them to lawsuits.

However, as highlighted above, users who remain unsurprisingly apprehensive of Do Kwon have not taken too kindly to these sentiments claiming Kwon is pulling the strings to repair his reputation. Additionally,  there are those like Vegas who believe that the decentralized approach would be to send the funds to the community pool.

As reported by The Crypto Basic on November 2, the Terra Classic development group, the Terra Rebels, revealed that it is on track to roll out the v23 upgrade in December. Notably, the update will make Terra Classic a fully interoperable Cosmos chain again, with technological parity to the LUNAv2 network.

Developers have touted the coming upgrade as a breakthrough for the network trying to chart a path to recovery following the ecosystem collapse in May. Core developer Edward Kim disclosed that it would significantly boost the number of projects on the chain, ushering in improved utility.

The community remains in a heated debate over how the $4 million in off-chain funds should be distributed.

Despite recent criticisms, it bears mentioning that LUNC DAO has been integral to the revival effort of the Terra Classic chain. For example, a video shared today as part of its response to recent attacks shows Kim recounting how the network would never have been able to re-enable staking without LUNC DAO. Notably, the group was able to pull strings to get a Terraform Labs employee to upgrade critical infrastructure before the Rebels could roll out the v22 update, which re-introduced staking.

ProprHome to revamp the real estate sector using Ripple’s solution.

ProprHome has partnered with Ripple to give people new ways to buy, sell, and rent real estate properties in Portugal. According to an announcement, ProprHome will leverage Ripple’s XRP Ledger through an NFT solution to provide faster, energy-efficient, and low-cost transactions for real estate buyers and sellers.

The rationale behind the partnership is to revolutionize real estate businesses and simplify the process of buying, selling, and renting properties. The partnership comes days after Ripple developers deployed non-fungible token functionality on XRP Ledger.

Reacting to the partnership with Ripple, John McCoy, CEO of ProprHome, said:

“ProprHome and our partner Ripple share the same vision of the tokenization of assets with functional utility. We see the potential of an online real estate market that leverages blockchain technology to improve real estate interactions dramatically.”

McCoy added that ProprHome had trusted XRP Ledger for more than ten years as its preferred blockchain for the company’s tokenization capabilities.

Ripple’s Tech to Simplify Real Estate Processes

ProprHome will mint real estate NFTs on the XRP Ledger to simplify how real estate customers communicate with their agents, make offers, and schedule visits. Once the service is live, real estate clients can control the offer and acceptance procedures in every related transaction.

Through ProprHome’s partnership with Ripple and its NFT utility, the company will offer different types of tokens, starting with utility tokens for digital property certificates dubbed DOC. It is noteworthy that DOC tokens are issued to customers who want to buy or rent a property using ProprHome.

The token will help clients bypass the time-consuming and complex verification and approval process required to own real estate properties. Furthermore, the token will give home buyers and lessees access to various utility services, including electricity, water, telecommunications, etc.

After DOC, ProprHome will also issue Propr (PRP), a form of reputational currency that real estate developers, owners, and agents can earn and exchange for additional exposure.

ProprHome’s Commitment to Revamp the Real Estate Sector

ProprHome is a real estate marketplace seeking to revamp the process of buying, selling, and renting properties in Portugal using blockchain technology. The major issue associated with the real estate business is found in the offer stage.

ProprHome leveraged XRPL to offer transparency and trust between real estate agents and customers to resolve this issue. All bids are recorded on the XRP Ledger to provide immutable and transparent data to all parties. ProprHome is educating its users about the new solution via a project dubbed “Customer Education-ProprHome.”

Bitcoin Exchange Reserves Tap 4.5 Year Lows As FTX Concerns Deepen

0

A significant amount of Bitcoin left exchange reserves on Monday.

A CryptoQuant Quicktake released by CryptoQuant analyst Maartunn yesterday revealed that Bitcoin exchange reserves have plunged to a four-and-a-half-year low.

Bitcoin Leaves Exchanges, But It May Not Be Bullish

Per the analysis, reserves had plunged from 2,304,000 BTC to 2,265,000 BTC, representing a difference of 39k BTC. Usually, moves like this indicate bullish sentiment in the markets, as users may be less willing to sell their Bitcoin. However, it may not be the case here.

Notably, the two exchanges involved are Coinbase Pro and FTX.

Maartunn, in a tweet on Monday, disclosed that over 18k BTC had been moved from Coinbase Pro. While stating that further investigation was needed, users noted that it was likely an internal transaction by Coinbase as it winds down its Coinbase Pro service for Coinbase Advanced Trade.

For FTX, the analyst had raised the alarm noting that the Bitcoin Reserve balance on the exchange had dropped to zero. Notably, for this, the data is contradictory. While CryptoQuant’s chart showed that it had fallen to zero, Glassnode’s QuantMario sharing the Glassnode chart, disputed Maartunn’s claim. The Glassnode chart showed that it had only dropped to about 9k BTC. Meanwhile, another CryptoQuant analyst sharing the CryptoQuant Pro chart noted that while the reserve had seen a significant drop, it was not yet at zero but hovering around 70 to 120 BTC.

While the reason for the drop is unknown, analysts hope that it is an internal shuffling of funds and not an exit liquidity scam. Notably, a question raised by WuBlockchain makes Maartunn speculate that it may be a movement of funds to facilitate client withdrawals as the exchange is experiencing a run in the wake of insolvency fears.

It is worth noting that despite plummeting prices, this year has seen a steady trend of declining exchange reserves. For example, as reported by The Crypto Basic at the end of October, 70k BTC left exchanges in a single day on October 26. Furthermore, as a Documenting Bitcoin tweet highlighted today, “hodling” appears to be all the rage this year, as 66.5% of Bitcoin has not moved in over a year.

The Price Outlook

It is worth noting that Bitcoin today has plunged below $20k. IncomeSharks attributes the steep price decline to fear, uncertainty, and doubt perpetuated by the FTX saga. According to IncomeSharks, markets are “scared.” Notably, the analyst had expected the leading digital asset to bounce today. Instead, however, the price has continued to invalidate perceived support levels.

Meanwhile, il Capo of Crypto has now taken a U-turn on his prediction of a bounce to $21,500. According to the analyst, a retest of the $20k to $20,200 price point would be significantly bearish. The target of these price moves for the analyst remains $14k.

Moments ago, the analyst ominously tweeted, “The beginning of the end.”

Bitcoin is trading at the $19,747.82 price point, 4.65% lower in the last 24 hours.

XRP Gets $1.1M Inflows Amid Growing Investors’ Confidence

0

Investors’ interest in XRP spikes as investment products linked to XRP saw an inflow of $1.1 million last week.

There has been positive sentiment toward the sixth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization following positive events in the lawsuit between Ripple and the SEC.

Per a report shared by digital asset management firm CoinShares, XRP-related investment products “saw inflows for the 3rd week totaling $1.1 million month-to-date (MTD).” Interestingly, the asset class saw an inflow of $11 million year-to-date (YTD).

Positive Developments in Ripple vs. SEC Suit

The development suggests growing confidence in XRP among investors as the ongoing lawsuit seems to be going in Ripple’s favor. The lawsuit has been going in Ripple’s way in the past few weeks.

A dozen firms and trade associations have countered the SEC’s claim that XRP is security via different amicus briefs. For over a year, the SEC has asserted that XRP is a security based on the Howey test. However, Ripple has maintained that XRP is not a security.

The leading blockchain company noted that the regulators could not establish a legal theory to support the claim that XRP is a security. Interestingly, a dozen firms and trade associations have thrown their weight behind Ripple against the SEC.

The enterprises noted in their respective briefs that the lawsuit has affected their businesses and poses a threat to the United States economy.

Aside from Ripple’s numerous support from a dozen companies, the crypto firm recently pulled a major victory against the SEC. The Securities and Exchange Commission finally surrendered the drafts of William Hinman’s speech to Ripple after months of a legal battle.

These positive developments have helped revive investors’ confidence in XRP. It is noteworthy that whales’ activities for XRP have skyrocketed lately. Ripple whales have been moving hundreds of millions of XRP to and from exchanges daily.
