Shiba Inu Lead Developer Says Team Do Not Control Shib Supply To Burn It

0

Shiba Inu Proponents Come for Lead Developer over “Empty Words” of Extreme Burn Mechanism.

Shiba Inu’s lead developer, Shytoshi Kusama, has been persistently sending cryptic tweets that point to developing a new project. As most proponents have guessed, the subject of his tweets, which remains an enigma, is thought to be Shibarium – Shiba Inu’s upcoming layer-2 solution.

The Shibarium scaling solution’s launch has been pending for some time. This delay does not bode well for the Shiba community, as most proponents eagerly anticipate more burns with the solution. Some of them recently directed their dissatisfaction towards Shytoshi Kusama.

“You look like the politicians of Brazil! that only promises and nothing ever comes out on paper and when it comes out it’s just to get into their own pocket,” one member of the SHIBArmy told Kusama in a tweet on Tuesday.

According to him, Kusama is deceiving Shiba Inu investors with empty words. The individual who calls himself “Shiba Inu Soldier” further asked Kusama to change his opinion of him.

In support, another Shiba proponent asked Kusama to “burn the remaining supply for the good of all.” He asked the developer to stop teasing the community with talks of an extreme burn mechanism and get to it.

Replying to these tweets, Kusama noted that they would need to buy the supply in order to burn it. “You still don’t get it huh? To burn the supply we have to BUY the supply. We don’t control the supply so STOP YELLING AT ME AND LET ME WORK,” he said.

Furthermore, he added that the team is developing initiatives to facilitate the token burn. He notes that such endeavors include the much-anticipated Shibarium, the Shiba Metaverse, and the Shiba Games, among others.

Kusama further asked that he be allowed to work on these projects peacefully. Some individuals were satisfied by Kusama’s responses, but others remained skeptical as more remarks of sarcastic displeasure surfaced.

With a current circulating supply in trillions, Shiba Inu remains the asset with the largest supply amongst mainstream cryptocurrencies. Though the supply contributes to the asset’s market capitalization, stationing it at the 14th position of the largest assets, it has not done well for its intrinsic value.

The Shiba development team has developed a mechanism for an aggressive burn of the asset’s supply in the shape of the Shib Burn Portal. The community has burnt above 60 Billion Shib so after the portal launch. This initiative assists with Shiba’s value as the asset becomes more scarce.

The burn portal has so far witnessed the burning of billions of Shiba Inu tokens. As reported last week, 1.1B tokens were burned in the week leading to September, with a particular transaction leading to the burn of 38M tokens.

Despite this progress, the community is awaiting a higher rate of burns with the launch of Shibarium and other initiatives. Despite claims that Shibarium will come with a built-in burn mechanism, the Shiba team has not officially made such a proclamation, as the features of the anticipated scaling solution remain a mystery.

However, Shibarium is expected to help with Shiba’s scaling exercise by increasing throughput and reducing gas fees. The date for the launch of Shibarium also remains a mystery, as rumors of a September 30 launch were recently debunked.

Top News Outlet Twitter Account Compromised As Hackers Announce Fake Michael Saylor Bitcoin and Ethereum Giveaway

Cryptocurrency scammers are taking extreme steps to swindle unsuspecting investors.

A fake cryptocurrency giveaway from MicroStrategy CEO Michael J. Saylor is currently being circulated on Twitter from the official Twitter account of Nigerian Business Day, with 89K followers. It seems that Nigerian Business Day has been compromised.

The hackers claim that Saylor wants to give away 5,000 Bitcoin (BTC) and 50,000 Ethereum (ETH) on a first-come-first-serve basis.

“MicroStrategy CEO Giving Away 5,000 BTC & 50,000 ETH! First come, first serve http://MicroStrategy-CEO.io. You can only apply once,” the tweet reads.

The compromised account is replying to top crypto influencers and exchanges tweets.

Details of the Scam

Looking at the website, one would think the giveaway is genuine. However, a closer look at the platform would expose the website as a scam.

The hackers noted that interested beneficiaries should send between 0.1 and 20 BTC to a Bitcoin address to receive double any amount sent. Similarly, interested participants who would prefer Ethereum are asked to send between 0.5 and 200 ETH to an address to participate in the giveaway.

In return, the scammers promised to double any amount sent to the Bitcoin and Ethereum addresses of the users who made the transaction.

“To participate you just need to send from (0.1 BTC to 20 BTC) or (0.5 ETH to 200 ETH) to the contribution address and we will immediately send you back (0.2 BTC to 40 BTC) or (1 ETH to 400 ETH) (x2) to the address you sent it from,” an excerpt of the page reads.

Despite publishing a series of transaction details to and from the Ethereum and Bitcoin wallets, a look at the blockchain data showed that the Bitcoin address had not recorded any transaction. However, the same cannot be said for the Ethereum address, as the wallet has received only 0.06ETH worth $103.98 at the current exchange rate.

Spike in Hackers’ Activities

The unfortunate development marks a massive spike in hackers’ activities on Twitter. These scammers are impersonating top cryptocurrency players, including Binance CZ and Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin, to defraud unsuspecting investors.

It is not surprising to see scammers impersonate Saylor, given the fact that he has been a major investor and influencer of Bitcoin.

Bitrue Joins Top Exchanges to Support 1.2% Terra Classic Burns, With 3 Exchanges Backing LUNC Trading Burns

0

Several exchanges indicate interest in a 1.2% Terra LUNA Classic (LUNC) tax burn.

The move to implement a 1.2% tax burn for transactions involving Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) tokens has continued to receive support from popular centralized cryptocurrency exchanges.

Singapore-based cryptocurrency trading platform Bitrue is the latest centralized exchange to declare support for the 1.2% tax burn of LUNC. The exchange made this known in a blog post today, stating that the 1.2% tax burn will be implemented for all classic Terra ecosystem tokens, including LUNC, USTC, MINE, ANC, STT, ORION, and C2X.

According to Bitrue, the 1.2% tax burn will only be implemented in all on-chain transactions involving the listed cryptocurrencies.

As reported by TheCryptoBasic, the long-awaited 1.2% tax burn will be implemented on the Terra Classic network on September 20, 2022. Based on this, Bitrue stated that it would upgrade the wallets of the selected cryptocurrencies on September 19, 2022, in preparation for the 1.2% tax burn.

The exchange said it would halt the deposit and withdrawal of the tokens during the time of the upgrade, and the services will resume once the upgrade has been completed.

After implementing the tax burn, 1.2% of the transaction amount will be charged for all deposits and withdrawals of Terra Classic network tokens on Bitrue.

“Deposit transactions will be taxed by the Terra Classic (LUNC) network before it reaches Bitrue. The balance will be credited to your Bitrue account after the 1.2% tax deduction by the network. Withdrawals: Users will receive the withdrawal amount minus withdrawal fees charged by Bitrue and the 1.2% tax deduction by the network,” Bitrue said in a statement.

Exchanges to Implement 1.2% Tax Burn for LUNC Transactions

Following the development, Bitrue now joins the list of centralized exchanges interested in implementing the 1.2% tax burn for LUNC. Currently, eight exchanges have declared that they would support the proposal, including Bitrue, once it goes live.

The other exchanges include Binance, KuCoin, Huobi, Gate.io, MEXC Global, Lbank, and CoinInn. It is noteworthy that while some exchanges like Binance will only implement tax burn for on-chain LUNC transactions, Some exchanges have noted that the proposal would be implemented on both on-chain and off-chain LUNC transactions.

Kucoin, MEXC Global, and CoinInn will support both on-chain (deposits, withdrawals) and off-chain (Trading) LUNC transactions.

The 1.2% tax burn proposal aims to reduce the total supply of LUNC, thus boosting the crypto’s price. Interestingly, the initiative has been championed by holders of the crypto asset, who are dedicated to making themselves whole.

Aside from the burn plans, these investors have also implemented other initiatives to reduce LUNC circulating supply, including staking of the asset.

LUNC Community Not giving Up On full Binance Support As Terra Classic Team Set To Host AMA With Binance

With Terra Classic (LUNC) Team Set To Host AMA with Binance Team.

The Terra Classic community is not giving up on full Binance support for the 1.2% tax rate proposal on spot trading activity.

In a tweet yesterday, LUNC Burn, an unofficial account tracking LUNA Classic (LUNC) burn activity, shared a message from the Terra Rebels discord disclosing that an ask me anything (AMA) session on YouTube had been scheduled with the Binance team for September 22, 2 days after the planned implementation of the 1.2% tax parameter change.

Demomonkey said on Discord:

“We have a huge ama that will happen here shortly…I’ve been setting it up. I won’t be hosting it. It will have people from Binance, Ed, and Vegas there. Plus, a few others from TR and I might join in as well. It will be on YouTube. @Interchainfm will be hosting it!! TIME AND DATE WILL BE “SEPT 22 @ 11 AM EST!!!” the message reveals.

Notably, the hosting YouTube channel Chjango Unchained has already scheduled the live stream with the title, “Binance: Will Binance ever open up IBC into the Interchain? $BNB $LUNC.” For the uninitiated, IBC stands for Inter Blockchain Communication. It is a protocol created by Cosmos to allow independent blockchains to transfer data or value.

It bears mentioning that Terra Classic, as a Cosmos chain, used IBC but disabled it during the Terra USD (USTC) de-pegging in May that brought the price of LUNC crashing down as the stabilizing algorithm led to excess minting of LUNC to prevent. However, community member Max Callisto has created a proposal to re-enable the protocol on the Terra Classic chain to help reclaim lost liquidity and stimulate decentralized finance (DeFi) activity.

While the title of the AMA indicates that the session may be focused on IBC, comments under LUNC Burn’s tweet show that members of the community will be interested in quizzing the Binance team about the implementation of the 1.2% tax rate proposal on the LUNC trading.

Notably, the Terra Classic community members have expressed dissatisfaction with how the exchange plans to implement the 1.2% tax parameter change. Like Gate.io, Binance revealed that the 1.2% tax rate would be applied to only deposits and withdrawals, while the community wants spot trading activity taxed as well. Consequently, Binance reveals that it will review its implementation plan.

The LUNC 1.2% tax rate burn proposal has become a major talking point for this month, rivaling other major crypto events slated for September while driving volatility in the LUNC price. On implementation, all on-chain LUNC transactions will be subject to a 1.2% tax which will be sent to the Terra burn wallet to reduce LUNC supply.

The tax parameter change is now expected to go live on September 20. It bears mentioning that Binance hosts the largest LUNC trading activity by volume, and applying the tax rate to spot trading activities will be a big win for the community.

Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Changpeng Zhao, And Other Richest Lose $93B Following Inflation-Fueled Market Crash

America’s Wealthiest Citizens See a $93 Billion Loss.

US inflation data stirred up markets and dented the fortunes of some of America’s wealthiest citizens on Wednesday. According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Jeff Bezos saw the most significant loss of $9.8 billion, followed by Elon Musk with an $8.4 billion loss.

Other billionaires that saw sizable losses include Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, Steve Ballmer, Warren Buffett, and Bill Gates. The total loss among these individuals adds up to over $93 billion. Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao is down 3.9B after the crash.

The sell-off in the stock market was broad-based, with the S&P 500 falling 4.4% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 Index tumbling 5.5%. This marks the largest one-day loss for both indices since June 2020 and March 2020, respectively.

Investors are concerned that the higher-than-expected inflation data will cause the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates more aggressively, damaging economic growth.

The market rout follows a rough stretch for the US stock market, which has seen volatility return in recent weeks. In August, the same group of US billionaires lost $78 billion in a single day after Fed Chairman Jerome Powell gave them an eight-minute presentation.

Zuckerberg, chief executive officer of Meta Platforms Inc, and other prominent tech CEOs have seen their fortunes take a hit, including Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, who is down 64% ($61B).

This recent market volatility is a reminder that, although the US stock market has been on a tear in recent months, there are still risks that can roil markets and cause losses for even the wealthiest investors.

Despite the losses, the world’s 500 richest people are still far wealthier than they were at the start of the year. Their total net worth has fallen by about $1.2 trillion since January.

South Korean Court Issues Arrest Warrant for Terra’s Founder Do Kwon

Kwon’s legal woes continue.

Following the ongoing investigation into the collapse of the Terra project, a South Korean court has issued an arrest warrant for Do Kwon, the CEO, and founder of TerraForm Labs (TFL).

Citing a message from the prosecutors’ office, Bloomberg reported today that the Seoul court ordered the arrest of Kwon and five others, who are believed to be key players in the Terra project.

The development was also shared on Bloomberg Crypto’s Twitter account, an account created on the microblogging platform to focus on crypto-related incidents.

Notably, the warrant to arrest Kwon and the five other people is related to a violation of Korean capital market rules, believed to have contributed to the massive collapse of the Terra project.

Bloomberg writes:

“A court in South Korea issued an arrest warrant for Do Kwon, the founder of the Terraform Labs cryptocurrency ecosystem, whose $40 billion wipeout earlier this year sparked a global crypto rout.”

Korean media Says, “South Korean prosecutors issued a one-year arrest warrant for Do Kwon currently living in Singapore. Red notices by Interpol will be issued to detain Kwon, Terraform Labs co-founder Nicholas Platias and others.”

Recall that following the collapse of the Terra project, Kwon and other top execs of TFL have been under extensive investigation in the United States and South Korea.

Korea had to revive a special crime unit, which will focus on the investigation of the Terra incident as well as other cryptocurrency-related crimes.

Despite the widespread investigation of the Terra collapse, Kwon has insisted on his innocence, adding that he is committed to building Terra to compensate investors for their losses and would not like to be distracted.

Elon Musk’s Tesla Launches “Cyberwhistle” Only Purchasable With Dogecoin

Dogecoin holders rally behind Elon Musk as Tesla launches “Cyberwhistle.”

After launch, Tesla Sells Out Of Cyberwhistle Merchandise Purchasable Only With Doge In Hours.

Tesla has officially sold out of the Cyberwhistle hours after Elon Musk urged users to “Blow the whistle!” to promote the merchandise that users can purchase only with Dogecoin.

According to the Tesla website:

“Inspired by Cybertruck, the limited-edition Cyberwhistle is a premium collectible made from medical-grade stainless steel with a polished finish. The whistle includes an integrated attachment feature for added versatility.”

Notably, each whistle costs 1000 DOGE, which is a little over $60 at current rates. It bears mentioning that the “Blow the whistle!” promotion by Musk might be an attempt to draw attention to statements by Twitter security lead cum whistleblower Peiter Zatko before the US Senate yesterday.

Notably, Musk and his camp believe that Zatko’s statements support their case for pulling out of the Twitter deal. Moreover, they have already obtained permission to use Zatko’s testimony in court. The quick sale of the Cyberwhistle under these circumstances indicates the strength of Musk’s following among the Dogecoin community, who hoped that DOGE would be an acceptable means of payment on Twitter under the billionaire’s ownership.

It is worth noting that earlier this year, the Tesla chief made a $44 billion bid for Twitter but decided to back out after he felt the firm was dishonest about the number of bots on the platform. Notably, Zatko’s statements support Musk’s claims that the company has much to lose by being open about the number of bots on the microblogging platform.

The Cyberwhistle resembles a Tesla Cybertruck and will be delivered to lucky buyers in 4 to 6 weeks. Tesla officially started accepting Dogecoin as payment for merchandise in January as Musk continues to champion DOGE as an excellent means of value exchange.

U.S. Lawyer Reveals the Date SEC and Ripple Will Publicly File Motions for Summary Judgment

0

The SEC vs. Ripple lawsuit has entered a crucial stage as the parties file motions for summary judgment.

The lawsuit between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Ripple has entered into the summary judgment phases, as the parties have started filing motions for summary judgment. According to defense lawyer James K. Filan, the parties filed their motions for summary judgment yesterday.

Leading blockchain company Ripple and Individual Defendants – Chris Larsen and Brad Garlinghouse – filed not only motions for summary judgment but also filed a memorandum of law in support of the summary judgment.

Per Filan, the Silicon Valley tech company also filed a Rule 56.1 statement, 106 exhibits, and a declaration of a statement made by Michael K. Kellogg, the prominent American author.

SEC’s Summary Judgment Motion

In a similar development, the Securities and Exchange Commission has also filed its motion for summary judgment against Ripple and Individual Defendants under seal. The SEC also filed a sealed copy of the declaration attributed to Daphna A. Waxman, a senior legal rep of the SEC’s Enforcement Division’s Cyber unit. Additionally, the SEC filed under seal approximately 400 exhibits as counted by attorney Filan.

The prominent U.S. defense lawyer said the SEC also filed a memorandum of law supporting the summary judgment and Rule 56.1 statement, alongside declarations from Jorge G. Tenreiro and Ladan F. Stewart.

Parties to Publicly File Summary Judgment Motions Next Week

Notably, all these motions were filed yesterday under seal, pending when the parties would meet and confer to identify the necessary redactions that will be made. Following the recently approved briefing schedule to govern all sealing issues concerning summary judgment, the parties are expected to confer tomorrow to identify the necessary redactions to the recent briefs filed.

After the parties have made the redactions, redacted versions of the briefs for summary judgment will be made available to the public on September 19, 2022.

“On Monday, September 19, 2022, the parties will file public, redacted versions of the briefs in support of the summary judgment motions, making only those provisional redactions requested by the parties,” attorney Filan said.

Meanwhile, attorney Jeremy Hogan, a partner at Hogan and Hogan law firm, recently noted that he eagerly anticipates September 19, 2022. He said the date would be remarkable as XRP holders will get to see several hidden details about the lawsuit.

Cardano Founder Compares New Developments In Elon Musk Twitter Deal To A “One Night Stand” With Dire Consequences

0

New developments in Elon Musk Twitter deal as the shareholder’s vote in favor of the buyout.

In a tweet today, the founder of Input Output Global (IOG), the developers of the Cardano network Charles Hoskinson compared the Elon Musk Twitter buyout deal to a one-night stand with long-lasting consequences as Twitter continues to push to enforce the deal despite the loss of interest from Musk.

“The Elon Musk/Twitter buyout is the equivalent of a one-night stand followed by a shotgun wedding nine months later. I’ve never seen anything like it,” Hoskinson wrote in his tweet.

The latest statement by the Cardano chief comes moments after reports confirmed that Twitter shareholders voted to approve Musk’s $44 billion bid for the company on Tuesday. Notably, the move confirms that Twitter will be trying to force the deal with a court decision despite Musk and his camp pushing to terminate it.

Earlier this year, the Tesla chief created quite the stir as he announced plans to buy out the popular microblogging platform to promote free speech and maximize the company’s potential by taking it private. It bears mentioning that Twitter has played a big role in shaping narratives and social movements in recent years. However, Musk and other community members have expressed concern over the platform’s position on free speech this year.

Notably, Elon Musk’s bid received much support from the crypto space, attracting investments from firms like Binance, with founders like Charles Hoskinson offering to help the billionaire build a decentralized platform. Additionally, the Dogecoin community was excited at the prospect of DOGE being accepted as a means of payment on Twitter, as Elon Musk has made DOGE accepted as means of payment for other companies he owns.

However, in July, the world’s richest man decided to pull out of the deal, expressing concern that Twitter is not being honest about the number of bots on the platform. Notably, Twitter maintains that bots constitute less than 5% of its monetizable daily active users, but Musk believes it is much more.

Consequently, Twitter has filed a case with a Delaware state court to force the deal. The 5-day trial will decide the deal’s fate and will begin on October 17.
