Former Netflix and Marvel Executive With 15 Years of Entertainment Industry Experience Joins Shiba Inu

0

Shiba Inu has made yet another addition to its Metaverse team.

According to a recent blog post, Brandie Konopasek, an entertainment veteran who has been in the industry for over 15 years, is the latest to join Shiba Inu’s Metaverse team.

Konopasek’s Exploit in the Entertainment Space

Since her venture into the entertainment space, Konopasek has participated in developing more than 100 projects for top brands, including Netflix, Disney, Marvel, Emmanuel Lubezki, Jon Favareau, etc.

Konopasek was also instrumental in releasing high-grossing movies of all time. IMDB states, “Brandie Konopasek is known for Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Doctor Strange.”

In her statement to Shiba Inu, Konopasek said it is a thrilling experience to know the SHIBArmy, supporters of the project, and also joining the Shiba Inu project.

“Emerging technology is at the heart of everything I do and is such a creatively driven process. This decentralized community has come to the table with a breathtaking vision, and I can’t wait to see it released to the world,” Konopasek said.

The announcement did not disclose the role Konopasek would play in the Metaverse project. However, it is expected that she will be given a suitable role according to her expertise and experience that will contribute positively to the success of Shiba Inu’s Metaverse.

Shiba Inu Focused on the Success of Its Metaverse Project

In its quest to ensure the success of the Metaverse project, Shiba Inu has been making important additions to the team since last year. Shiba Inu added game veteran William Volk to become the consultant for its upcoming game Shiba Eternity.

In a similar development, Shiba Inu also added entertainment veteran Marcie Jastrow and former Sony technical artist David Kern to the Metaverse project.

Shiba Inu’s Metaverse project has been making significant moves since it went live in March. Recall that the virtual land for the Metaverse project went on sale in April, with the community flocking to own different plots in strategic places. However, Shiba Inu coin holders were left out. A month later, the team behind Shiba Inu granted interested investors the opportunity to purchase plots of land using SHIB.

Cardano Founder Fires Back At Bitcoin Maximalist Claim That He Can Change ADA Supply

0

Bitcoin maximalists continue on the warpath with altcoins, but Hoskinson is not having any of it.

In a tweet earlier today, Cardano’s Charles Hoskinson shot back at a Bitcoin maximalist who claimed that Hoskinson had the power to decide and carry out a burn of ADA tokens as he tried to paint the proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain network as highly centralized.

However, the Cardano chief was in no mood to tolerate any Cardano smear campaign. “Bitcoin maxis are beyond stupid. I can’t even force the Vasil hard fork, and everyone wants it,” Hoskinson wrote in the tweet.

Meanwhile, it bears mentioning that the Cardano founder remains opposed to burning ADA tokens in a bid to boost its value. According to Hoskinson, such a move requires ADA to be removed from holders and destroyed.

Notably, the Input-Output Global (IOG) chief has not held back against Bitcoin maximalists this year. In recent months, Hoskinson has called out the likes of MicroStrategy’s Michael Saylor and long-time Bitcoin developer Jimmy Song for their comments criticizing PoS networks. According to Hoskinson, maximalists are intellectually dishonest.

The Cardano chief firmly believes that blockchain technology should be allowed to evolve and has in the past pointed out the inadequacies of Bitcoin. According to Hoskinson, Bitcoin maximalists are hypocritical as they plan to solve problems with Bitcoin, like lack of scalability and lack of programmability with Layer 2 solutions which he asserts are very centralized.

Notably, the Cardano network is on the brink of a significant upgrade called the Vasil hard fork. IOG and Hoskinson have revealed that they expect the upgrade to launch on September 22. The upgrade promises to improve the network’s throughput and smart contract functionality, ushering in the development of thousands of decentralized applications(dApps).

As reported by The Crypto Basic, Cardano’s research and development company, Input Output Global (IOG), recently introduced a new consensus protocol to decrease the energy waste of Proof-of-Work (PoW) blockchains.

Google Searches For Shiba Inu’s BONE Skyrocket

Demand for Bone ShibaSwap (BONE) is increasing daily as major exchanges begin to list BONE.

Google Trend data reveals that the demand for the governance token of the Shiba Inu Ecosystem, Bone ShibaSwap inflated so much that the keyword “How to Buy BONE Token” soared, hitting breakout levels.

How to Buy Bone Token

The primary reasons behind these increased searches are as follows:

Much-Awaited Shibarium Launch:

The first and foremost reason behind increasing BONE searches is the much-anticipated Shibarium Launch. As per the last update provided by Unification XFUND, a blockchain service provider involved in developing the Shibarium Layer-2 Solution, the Shibarium Public Beta Testnet may launch in Q3. As September is the last month of Q3, Shiba Inu Community can expect breaking news about the Shibarium launch anytime soon.

BONE has a significant utility case in Shibarium Layer-2 Network. It will act as a native “Gas Token” for Shibarium, meaning that every user on the Shibarium network would need a BONE to make any transaction. Considering the mentioned utility case of BONE in Shibarium, Shiba Inu Community expects that with the much-limited supply of 230 million BONE tokens compared to Shiba Inu, the BONE value could increase manifolds with the launch of the Shibarium network.

BONE Incredible Performance in the Past 14 Days:

Despite unfavorable market conditions, BONE posted an incredible performance in the past two weeks. The world’s largest independent cryptocurrency data tracking website, CoinGecko, reports that the value of Bone ShibaSwap increased over 100% in the past 14 days.

On August 25th, the BONE price stood at $0.8360. Because of intense demand, the value of BONE increased almost three times in just five days. BONE hits a recent high of $2.38 on August 30th, 2022. Following this, the BONE experienced a slight pullback. At press time, BONE is trading sideways, currently sitting at $1.73, up 6% over the last day, with a 24-hour trading volume of $18,257,215 ($18.25M).

BONE Listing on Major Centralized Cryptocurrency Exchanges:

Major centralized cryptocurrency exchanges, including Hong Kong-based top exchange LBANK and Cayman Islands-based global crypto exchange Bitmart, added BONE support. One of the leading trading platforms, Crypto.com, also recently provided the Shiba Inu Community with a hint that they may list BONE.

Ethereum’s Buterin Share Balvi Second Update, Expresses Gratitude to Shiba Inu for Donations

Buterin thanks Shiba Inu for its contribution to the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, has taken time out to express gratitude to meme-based cryptocurrency Shiba Inu (SHIB) for supporting the Balvi project in its fight against the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

In a tweet made today by Ethereum’s co-founder, Balvi, a direct giving fund created by Buterin, has successfully been used to provide financial assistance for numerous coronavirus projects.

“Second update from Balvi! Lots more anti-covid projects were funded, thanks to funds from @Shibtoken @CryptoRelief,” Buterin said.

Some of the projects committed to mitigating the spread of coronavirus that received the latest round of funding include Long Covid Research Initiative, D-Nome, Kernls, PolyBio, OpenAeros, etc.

The recent tweet made by Buterin marks the second round of funding the Balvi project has provided for coronavirus-related projects. Back in May, the Ethereum exec also shared an update on projects that Balvi funded.

Shiba Inu’s Donation to Buterin

Recall that the Shiba Inu team gifted Buterin 50% of the entire Shiba Inu tokens. To prevent the coin’s value from plummeting, Buterin announced that he would burn 90% of the token’s supply and donate the remaining assets to an unnamed charity.

“I’ve decided to burn 90% of the remaining Shiba tokens in my wallet. The remaining 10% will be sent to a (not yet decided) charity with similar values to cryptorelief (preventing large-scale loss of life) but with a more long-term orientation,” Buterin said in a note attached to a transaction.

Cardano NFT Stats Shows 7,000 NFT Projects, 15 Marketplaces Contributing Trading Volume of $459M

The Cardano NFT sector is hitting some interesting milestones, as a recent statistics report illustrates.

Cardano remains one of the most promising blockchain projects in the crypto ecosystem. Since its inception, the network has recorded massive growth in adoption rate. A recent statistics report on its non-fungible token (NFT) sector highlights the intriguing heights the network has reached.

Cardano Daily – an unofficial community-driven Cardano Twitter handle – disclosed the information Thursday. “Yesterday, we have got an overview of the NFT landscape of the @Cardano ecosystem. Let’s take a glance at some outstanding statistics of this potential sector,” the handle said in a tweet.

A screenshot attached to the tweet outlined the status of the Cardano NFT ecosystem. Per data from the screenshot, there are almost 7,000 NFT projects and 15 marketplaces on the Cardano network. Hosting nearly 7,000 NFTs is a commendable feat from Cardano and underscores the increasing rate of the chain’s adoption.

The 15 NFT marketplaces have contributed an all-time trading volume of approximately $450M to the Cardano ecosystem. Also, considering stats from the top 100 NFT collections on Cardano, the valuation of the NFT sector lies between $300M and $616M.

JpegstoreNFT stands out as the largest marketplace by trade volume in the Cardano ecosystem. The marketplace contributes a whopping 64.19% of the entire trade volume in the sector. CNFT reserves the second position with a contribution of 28.09% of the trade volume. Spacebudz contributes 4.51%, and the other 3.21% contribution comes from other marketplaces.

Additionally, regarding the NFT collections in terms of volume, Spacebudz makes the most contribution from a single collection, with a 7.90% market share. Pavia contributes 6.72%, and Clay Nation makes a 5.78% contribution. 66% of the volume is shared amongst other NFT collections, marking a decrease in monopoly.

Launched in 2017 by the co-founder of Ethereum, Charles Hoskinson, Cardano has witnessed massive growth since its inception. Often touted as one of the “Ethereum Killers,” the blockchain seeks to proffer high scalability and low fees for the cryptocurrency community.

The Cardano team seeks to improve the network even further with the soon-to-be Vasil Hard Fork upgrade. Despite previous delays, the Vasil upgrade is still promised, as the team has slated it for September 22. Most of the prerequisites for the update are being reached, and the community remains hyped for its advent.

Dogechain (DC) Hits a New Milestone as Network Now Averages Over 2M Transactions Daily

0

The Dogechain (DC) project keeps recording new milestones every week.

The number of transactions on the Dogechain network has continued to spike, suggesting a growing cryptocurrency adoption. Dogechain noted in a tweet today that the total number of transactions conducted on the network has surpassed 20 million.

The milestone comes six days after Dogechain celebrated reaching 10 million on-chain transactions on its network. As reported by TheCryptoBasic, the newly launched meme coin also saw its transaction volume soar to 15 million a few days later.

With the meme-based cryptocurrency hitting over 20 million transactions, Dogechain now averages more than 2 million transactions daily.

“On September 2nd we reported that #Dogechain had processed 10 million transactions… Just 6 Days later, on September 8th, we crossed 20 million, currently averaging +2 Million per day,” Dogechain said in a tweet.

Dogechain has continued to grow despite the early controversies that tried to mar the project.

The crypto asset has debuted across top cryptocurrency exchanges, including KuCoin, Huobi, and Gate.io. At the time of writing this line, Dogechain is trading at $0.002, up 14% in the last 24 hours, according to data from Coingecko.

U.S. Treasury Department Faces Lawsuit From Aggrieved Investors for Proscribing Crypto Mixer Tornado Cash

0

The U.S. Treasury Department is facing litigation for its previous move to ban Tornado Cash.

Aggrieved crypto proponents have filed a lawsuit against the United States Department of the Treasury. The suit follows the Treasury’s decision to blacklist Tornado Cash’s crypto mixer, citing its abuse by unscrupulous individuals.

Filed by six individuals in the Western District of Texas, the lawsuit claims that the Treasury’s ban of Tornado Cash was an overstep of its regulatory boundaries, as Tornado Cash – by provisions of the Administrative Procedures Act – is not an entity under the surveillance of the OFAC.

The lawsuit was filed against the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC); Director of OFAC Andrea Gacki, and Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen. According to the suit, the proscription of Tornado Cash was an attempt at undue censorship. A particular claim that has remained popular amongst crypto proponents.

Additionally, the lawsuit highlights the fact that the ban has locked the plaintiffs out of their funds on Tornado Cash. The plaintiffs claim that these funds are used for purposes permissible by law and also humanitarian affairs, including donations to Ukraine. The lawsuit was bankrolled by the American exchange Coinbase.

Coinbase’s involvement in the suit is expected, as the exchange stands to be affected the most by the ban. However, it has previously been noted that its Ethereum developers are stationed outside the U.S., and the censorship would not cause as much effect on them.

The plaintiffs include co-founder of blockchain firm Prysmatic Labs, Preston Van Looon; Principal Crypto & Web3 Engineer at GridPlus, Kevin Vitale; Coinbase employees, Nate Welch and Tyler Almeida; ex-Amazon engineer Joseph Van Loon; and NewSpace angel investor Alex Fisher. All parties involved claim direct adverse effects of the Tornado Cash ban.

Recall that the OFAC placed a ban on Tornado Cash on August 8, citing the usage of the crypto mixer for criminal activities since its launch in 2019, including money laundering and illegal financing. The ban also prohibited all American entities from interacting with the mixer’s addresses or using its services.

The agency proscribed the mixer’s addresses. The ban has sparked outrage in the crypto community, with several people asserting that this is the beginning of censorship in the industry.

Furthermore, The Crypto Basic reported on August 12 that Dutch authorities arrested Tornado Cash developer Alexey Portsev in the Netherlands. Shortly after, a community protest ensued in Amsterdam in response to the arrest. The recent litigation is another avenue the crypto community is using to fight against the censorship attempt by the OFAC.

SEC Chairman Backs Congress to Give CFTC More Power to Oversee And Regulate Bitcoin And Non-Security Cryptos

0

Gensler will support Congress in giving CFTC more regulatory power over Bitcoin, but…

Gary Gensler, the Chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), said he would support the United States Congress to delegate more regulatory power to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to regulate non-security tokens like Bitcoin (BTC).

The SEC chair made this known during an industry conference held today, as The Wall Street Journal reported. According to Gensler, he would throw his weight behind the U.S. Congress to hand over more regulatory power over non-security assets to the CFTC. Gensler said he would only support giving the CFTC more authority over selected cryptocurrencies as long as the move does not affect the SEC in any way.

WSJ writes: “Mr. Gensler, who headed the CFTC from 2009 to 2014, qualified his remarks by saying he welcomed working with lawmakers as long as it doesn’t take away power from the SEC.”

Gensler said: “Let’s ensure that we don’t inadvertently undermine securities laws. We’ve got a $100 trillion capital market. Crypto is less than $1 trillion worldwide. But we don’t want that to somehow undermine what we do elsewhere,”

Moves to Give CFTC Control Over Cryptos

For months, cryptocurrency proponents have made several calls, requesting that more powers be given to the CFTC to regulate the emerging market.

Cryptocurrency stakeholders complain that the SEC’s rules are unsuitable for the nascent industry, given the massive difference between crypto and traditional assets.

The Senate Agriculture Committee is already making significant moves to grant the CFTC regulatory oversight over the two-largest cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Currently, the CFTC only has control over the derivatives market, including swaps and futures. While Gensler does not seem to have issues with the CFTC regulating Bitcoin, the SEC chair believes other crypto assets are under its jurisdiction.

Gensler recently called on crypto stakeholders to have a roundtable discussion with the SEC to decide the best way to regulate the industry.

However, no significant result has been achieved so far, as crypto experts complain that the SEC has continued to shut its doors against them.

Should Congress give the CFT more authority over other cryptocurrencies outside Bitcoin, there is a tendency that the Gensler-led SEC would kick against such a decision.

Binance Confirms Support For Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) Tax Burn

0

The world’s top exchange will support Terra (LUNA) Tax Burn.

According to Binance, it will amend the minimum withdrawal amount, maximum withdrawal amount, and withdrawal fees for LUNC and USTC via the Terra Classic network once the Tax burn goes live on Sep 20th.

Binance writes:

“Deposits: Transactions will be taxed by the Terra Classic network before it reaches Binance. The balance will be credited to your Binance account after the 1.2% tax deduction by the network.

Withdrawals: Users will receive the withdrawal amount minus withdrawal fees charged by Binance and the 1.2% tax deduction by the network.”

However, Binance has still not confirmed taxing LUNC trading. The exchange further says that Spot and Margin trading for LUNC and USTC will remain unaffected when Tax burn goes live.

LUNC community is stressed by Binance’s decision for not applying tax burn to LUNC trading as LUNC DAO says:

“Extremely disappointed in CZ for not keeping his word. Applying the 1.2% tax to withdrawals and deposits only discourages people from leaving Binance. They are not applying the LUNC burn to the spot + margin trading, AKA what the community asked for.”

Terra LUNC Burn Proposal

It is noteworthy that the Terra community has been calling on TFL to burn part of the LUNC supply to compensate investors for the losses they incurred in early May 2022 after UST lost its peg to the dollar.

Despite investors’ wishes, TFL abandoned the LUNC project to launch a new chain and tokens, which it believed to be the perfect way to compensate investors. However, TFL’s effort was insufficient to compensate the Terra ecosystem collapse victims. In June 2022, investors voted that a 1.2% tax burn should be applied to all LUNC on-chain transactions. All LUNC tokens obtained via the tax initiative will be permanently destroyed, thus reducing the total supply of the asset class and ultimately bolstering its value.

If went live on Sep 20th, the 1.2% tax proposal will see users pay a 1.2% fee on all on-chain transactions, including wallet interactions and smart contracts. This fee is then sent to the Terra-provided burn wallet to reduce the LUNC supply. Notably, the parameter change can not be applied to exchanges without the support of exchanges. Consequently, this has been a cause for concern for some users as most LUNC transactions occur on central exchanges.

However, major exchanges like Binance, MEXC global, Kucoin, and Gate.io have confirmed to support LUNC Burn.

Terra Classic (LUNC) Secures First Ever Decentralized Exchange (DEX) Listing

Terra Classic (LUNC) gets listed on SaitaPro, it’s first ever DEX listing.

LUNC remains at the center of most discourses in the crypto community of late. The once-abandoned asset is getting the attention of crypto proponents and exchanges alike, especially due to its meteoric rise and recent auspicious burn proposals. In a recent highlight of events, LUNC just got listed on its first DEX, Saitama Pro.

The official Saitama Twitter handle disclosed the development Thursday.

“HOT NEWS: we are happy to announce that $LUNC (LUNA CLASSIC) is now listed on #SaitaPro, its first ever DEX.” The handle said in a tweet.

The recent listing underscores the growing interest in LUNC, as its rally remains sustained, with bullish sentiments brewing. Users of the SaitaPro exchange now have the opportunity to trade the asset in-app. This gives further coverage to LUNC as more investors seek to jump on the sailing ship.

This development comes a few hours after Binance noted that it would be adding the LUNC/USDT trading pair on Friday, as recently reported by The Crypto Basic. Furthermore, Binance mentioned that it would also launch the 1000LUNCUSDT Perpetual Contracts with up to 25x leverage on the same day.

LUNC’s Sustained Rally

Despite growing concerns about repeating the previous crash, LUNC has persisted in its rally. The asset now sits comfortably in the 26th position of the largest cryptocurrencies as its valuation surged to $3.3B – a massive increase from the $660M market cap seen on August 1. This surge in valuation has sent LUNC above notable assets such as CRONOS (CRO), Stellar (XLM), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Algorand (ALGO).

LUNC retains its position as the highest-gaining cryptocurrency in the past 24 hours while writing. The asset has gained by over 50% in the past 24 hours, with a current value of $0.00053. Terra Classic’s recent value represents a whopping 450% rise from the value of $0.00009 it started last month with.

LUNAtics does not expect the asset’s campaign to reach its waterloo anytime soon due to the upcoming 1.2% tax burn proposal. The community has set September 10 for voting, and if the poll falls in favor of the burn proposal, the initiative will kick off on September 20.
