Attorney John Deaton Says XRP Value Is Not “Driven By Ripple But By Bitcoin”

0

The legal expert opposes the SEC’s claim that XRP value is influenced by Ripple and its executives.

Attorney John Deaton, the lawyer granted amici status in the lawsuit between Ripple and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), noted that recent market events have shown that the price of XRP is not influenced by the blockchain company.

XRP Value Not Influenced By Ripple

The attorney asserted that XRP is largely driven by Bitcoin (BTC), which is in contrast to the SEC’s claim that Ripple’s execs, Brad Garlinghouse and Chris Larsen made significant efforts to influence the price of the cryptocurrency.

Supporting his argument, attorney Deaton noted that despite the fact that Ripple has made important announcements in the past few weeks, its native cryptocurrency has underperformed significantly.

Recall that Ripple announced in May 2022 that its on-demand liquidity (ODL) recorded significant growth from 6x to 8x in Year-Over-Year (YoY).

While other crypto-related businesses were laying off employees due to the crypto market crash, Ripple announced that it would be recruiting hundreds of employees in the coming weeks, confirming that the company is not affected by the downturn of the market.

XRP Plunges Alongside Bitcoin

Despite these positive announcements from Ripple, XRP was not positively impacted. Instead, the price plunged in tandem with that of Bitcoin, thus suggesting that the value of XRP is largely correlated to the top asset class.

In the past month, the price of XRP is down 21.1%, while in the past two weeks the value of the cryptocurrency has plunged 18.6%. At press time, XRP is trading at $0.32, representing a 3.5% increase in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, attorney Deaton noted that experts in the lawsuit have submitted their reports and the necessary depositions have been completed.

One of SEC’s experts to testify in the lawsuit, Dr. Albert Metz, will provide details to determine whether Garlinghouse and Larsen’s actions directly impacted the XRP coin’s price.

“Expert reports have been submitted and depositions completed. But the last few weeks have totally proven #XRP’s price IS NOT driven by Ripple but by Bitcoin. Bgarlinghouse announced ODL increased by 6-8 X and Ripple is hiring, while others are laying off. Yet, #XRP’s price….,” attorney Deaton tweeted.

Crypto Quant CEO Says He Is Hearing “Same Advice” From Binance CZ When Bitcoin Bottomed At $3K in 2019

0

CZ Said This In 2019, But Newbies Are Still Shocked By Market Downturns.

Bitcoin market downturns have been routine since the coin came into existence, but some people don’t learn this.

The last few months have been a hard time for the crypto market, including Bitcoin. The top coin has lost much of its value as compared to where it was in late 2021. A lot of analysts and traders have come out to opine that the market is entering a period of “crypto winter” with extreme bearish sentiments.

The biggest downturn happened about a week ago, and Bitcoin even dropped below the $20k support over the weekend.

Now, this seems to rattle some new investors who are now worried that their investments will become nothing, despite people like Binance CEO having talked about it three whole years ago and are repeating the same words again.

In 2019, during the previous crypto winter, CZ sent out a tweet to this effect. Some, like Ki Young Ju, an analyst and CEO of leading analytic firm Crypto Quant took it seriously. Others didn’t.

It’s Still Early

According to CZ, the Bitcoin market and the blockchain industry are still in their early stages. Note that he said this during the crypto winter of 2019, when BTC had dropped to around $3k. Ki Young Ju is referring to that sentiment when BTC is around $20k.

Also, note that back in 2019, the market had already crashed, just as it has already crashed these days. Both $3k and the current $20k are considering meager prices. At this time, Bitcoin is trading at around $20.9k, up from the lows of $18k over the weekend.

Ju highlighted the wording of Binance CZ when BTC was around $3K in 2019. In 2019 CZ hinted that BTC is at the bottom and told the community that we are still very early.

CZ in 2019: “That’s exactly what I thought back in 2013, “damn, I am too late. I wish I started early like those other guys.” and I will say the same thing I heard back then. We are still early, the beginning of the beginning.”

Now crypto quant CEO is stressing that as BTC prices are hovering around $20K, he is hearing the same advice from Binznce CZ, but newbies do not understand not acting on time.

Is History Repeating?

Apparently, history has a way of repeating itself, and newbies have been the unluckiest victims. However, they’re not victims because of any other factors other than fear. This is clear from the current fear spreading among newbies and making them give up their stash. This has always happened to the “weak hands” during downturns.

It’s a fact that brutal downturns come with heavy FUD, and some newbies who haven’t quite understood the market dynamics get into a panic mode thinking the crypto market is going up in flames and ending forever. They sell in haste and make losses. Those who manage to hold reap profits when the bull run finally starts.

Cardano Vasil Hard Fork Will No Longer Go Live This Month, A New Date Has Been Set

0

The much-anticipated Vasil Hard Fork Event for the Cardano network has been postponed until next month after a few bugs were discovered.

According to a blog post by Input Output Global (IOG), the development team working on the Cardano network decided to postpone the Vasil upgrade to next month during an evaluation call held last Friday.

Another evaluation of the entire work on the Vasil upgrade was also carried out yesterday, and a total of seven bugs were discovered.

Although none of the bugs are seen as severe, the Cardano team is not willing to take any risk as it has chosen to delay the deployment of the Vasil Hard Fork proposal to the public testnet yesterday as scheduled.

IOG Not Taking Chances

Aside from the seven minor bugs discovered, IOG noted that it still needs to examine a few items related to Vasil in the coming days to ensure everything is working as expected.

Based on this, the Cardano team has decided that it will roll out Vasil on the Cardano public testnet by the end of this month, which will run for a period of four weeks.

After everything is working fine and exchanges have completed the necessary integration, IOG stated that the Vasil mainnet deployment will go live by the end of July 2022.

“Today, IOG and the Cardano Foundation have agreed on a new target date to hard fork the testnet at the end of June. Once completed, we will then allow four weeks for exchanges and SPOs to carry out any required integration and testing work […] The working assumption should therefore now be a Cardano mainnet hard fork occurring during the last week of July,” IOG said in a statement.

Continuous Effort to Roll Out Vasil

Notably, the IOG development team has been working round the clock to ensure Vasil has a hitch-free deployment. In a bid to ensure that everything goes smoothly, the IOG said that the project is being worked on by 35 developers from 27 different projects, who have been testing the decentralized applications (dApps) to identify any issue associated with the upgrade.

Work on Vasil implementation is also being supported by 16 stake pool operators (SPOs) as well as leading tool/API providers, including Blockfrost.

Vasil Upgrade Expectations

The Vasil upgrade is tipped to bolster the overall operation of the Cardano network. Vasil is expected to boost Cardano’s speed, and scalability, and even enhance the smart contract functionality, as well as introduce other significant features.

The upgrade’s mainnet deployment was initially scheduled to take place by the end of this month; however, due to the minor bugs discovered, the much-anticipated upgrade will go live by the end of next month.

Cardano Not Worried About Critics

Meanwhile, the Cardano development team has been heavily criticized for its constant delay in releasing important upgrades.

Interestingly, the team is not bothered as its only focus is to ensure the deployment of updates that will ensure users’ safety and to deliver working services to them.

The Block’s VP Of Research Says Over 100 Crypto Funds Holding Ethereum Are Currently In 85% Losses

0

Ethereum’s massive price decline in recent times has tremendously affected the value of top crypto fund ETH holdings.

Following a massive dip in Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, investors in the asset class have recorded huge losses in the past few weeks.

According to Larry Cermak, vice president of Research at cryptocurrency media outlet The Block, over 100 Ethereum wallets belonging to top crypto funds have seen a large percentage of their ETH value evaporate into the air in the last three months.

In a recent tweet, Cermak said these addresses belonging to different cryptocurrency funds held a total of $14.8 billion in March 2022. However, the value had plummeted to $2.2 billion as of yesterday when he made the tweet, thus suggesting that the value of ETH held by the crypto funds has been down 85% in the last three months.

While the data is not comprehensive, Cermak noted that it is sufficient to show some key trends of how these crypto funds are doing.

“Also, one thing to keep in mind is that [these crypto funds] could be dumping [the ETH] on exchanges, and the difference would not be counted in this sample. But a relevant dataset anyways,” Cermak added.

The vice president of Research at The Block added that while there is a possibility that these funds may have dumped some of their ETH in the market, a majority of them are “vested tokens that went down 90% since.”

Celsius & 3AC Plunge ETH Price

It is no longer news that Ethereum has had its own fair share of price declines in the last two weeks. The cryptocurrency, which was trading at around $1,900 on June 6, 2022, lost nearly $900 over the weekend now trading near $1100.

Although the entire cryptocurrency market has been reacting negatively to rising inflation, certain events are considered significant factors that plunged Ethereum prices.

Last week, Celsius Network announced that it had paused withdrawals, swaps, and transfers on the grounds of unfavorable market conditions.

While Celsius users thought it was nothing too serious, the lending platform transferred 104,000 ETH to popular cryptocurrency exchange FTX, suggesting a massive sell and extra burden on already suffering ETH price. This wreaked havoc on the price of Ethereum as the asset class dipped massively almost immediately.

Ethereum investors were still trying to cope with the unfortunate development when Three Arrows Capital (3AC) started facing liquidation amid the plunge in ETH prices.

Crypto analytics data provider Nansen noted that an address belonging to 3AC has been paying Aave debt valued at $264 million (234,458 ETH).

The developments prompted a reaction from Billy Marcus, Dogecoin’s co-founder, who said:

“Assuming we have a new bull run after this crypto winter, could we all collectively learn from the failings of Celsius, Luna, and 3AC.”

Bitcoin Could Still Fall By Another 50%

0

Bitcoin is not doing well, and protocols like Celsius are putting extra pressure on BTC prices.

CEO of asset management company DoubleLine Capital, Bond King Jeffery Gundlach, while talking to CNBC, has warned that he expects Bitcoin’s price might fall much more; therefore, the implosion may not be done yet. According to the investment manager, a further 50% decrease in Bitcoin’s price to $10,000 would not be surprising.

He opined that the trend in crypto was plainly not favorable, given that it had already peaked. That’s why he reminded the audience that he was here in July of last year when Bitcoin was a whopping $60,000 high. And then, the price was reduced to $30,000. After that, BTC bounced, but that bounce was short-lived, and now the top crypto is trading at $20K.

At this point, The CEO claims that he isn’t optimistic about the value of Bitcoin. Even if the price reaches $10,000, Gundlach wouldn’t be startled at all.

“The trend in crypto is clearly not positive… So I’m not bullish at $20,000 or $21,000 on Bitcoin. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it went to $10,000.”

Current Market Situation

On Monday, the cryptocurrency sector was on edge as bitcoin fought to hold above a critical level. Investors feared that issues at large crypto firms might trigger a broader market shakeout, and industry analysts said BTC could potentially fall another 50 percent more.

The price of Bitcoin fell by about $30,000 throughout the first week of June and continued to decline until the 20th of June, when it reached its current price of just a hair over $20,000. As a direct consequence of the precipitous drop, the entire global market valuation for all cryptocurrencies has fallen below $850 billion for the first time.

According to market participants, additional price drops might have a domino effect, in which other cryptocurrency investors are obliged to sell their holdings to cover losses and satisfy margin calls.

A significant portion of the stock market has also seen a steep fall recently. The performance of emerging market equities this year has been negative by 15%. The majority of equity markets are now declining.

Nasdaq has lost 28% of its value, and Bitcoin has lost 53% of its value so far this year and 45% of its value only since the most recent meeting of the Federal Reserve. At the time of this writing, the price of one Bitcoin is $20,535, representing a gain of around 2 percent from the 2022 low of $20,111 that was hit the previous week.

Celsius and 3AC

The cryptocurrency industry’s lousy news weeks continue as the focus has shifted to crypto lending organizations that guarantee big returns for depositing digital currency. After a business with roughly $12 billion in crypto assets under control suspended withdrawals for clients last week, there was speculation that Celsius Network was insolvent.

The biggest problem for the Bitcoin and entire crypto market is that if Celsius Network cannot stay afloat and Bitcoin price falls below $20K, there would be some Heavy Celsius Liquidations seriously affecting BTC price.

Furthermore, Three Arrows Capital (3AC) said it had sustained massive losses. 3AC spent $200 million on the failing Luna protocol, which collapsed last month. 3AC’s founders claim it has legal and financial experts. The company may sell its assets, but it’s open to being helped out.

TRON DAO Reserve Buys 10M USDD In An Effort To Stop Its Stablecoin From Depegging

0

TRON DAO Reserve acquired 10m of TRON stable coin USDD to protect the blockchain and crypto industry.

Justin Sun and the TRON DAO Reserve have just announced that they have acquired 10 million USDD on TRON to protect the blockchain and cryptocurrency sector from potential harm. This comes as TRON’s stablecoin, USDD, continues to be unpegged from the US dollar.

Tron’s stablecoin, USDD, was subjected to a turbulent change in market conditions a few days ago, which resulted in it being unpegged from the US Dollar. After the price was de-pegged, Tron DAO Reserve took action to attempt to bring it back up to its previous level.

It removed around 5.5 billion Tron (TRX) from exchanges in an effort to raise the USDD collateral and stop the stablecoin’s price from falling further. However, it would seem that none of TRON’s attempts have resulted in any fruit being produced as USDD remains depegged even at the time of this publication. USDD is worth $0.9601, according to data from Coinmarketcap.

More significantly, USD’s market value decreased by around 19 million dollars last week. The de-pegging of the stablecoin certainly had an effect, as seen by the fact that the market size decreased from $715 million on June 13 to $696 million at present.

The Tron Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) has only recently increased its reserves to support the blockchain in the aftermath of the de-pegging of the stablecoin. The DAO added another 300 million USDC to its supply the week before last.

It was an intriguing development when USDD first appeared on the market in April 2022. It is intended to function as a native stablecoin for the Tron blockchain, but one that is built algorithmically. As was the case most recently with UST, the success of algorithmic stablecoins is unpredictable. It would seem that the USDD is now a “miss” owing to the fact that its depeg from the value of $1 is still in progress.

On the other hand, the famous Terra Whistleblower Fatman is confident that USDD will not become like UST. He warns investors not to short USDD; as for him, the Justin sun stable coin will soon regain its 1:1 ratio with the dollar.

“USDD, another algostable, has severely depegged to $0.937. Some of you are tempted to make a play, assuming this is the next UST. Do *not* short USDD – it will not end well for you, I promise – this is not like UST.”

Experts Predict Shiba Inu Could Hit A New ATH By Next Bitcoin Halving, Has Potential To Reach $9 In Long Run

0

Shiba Inu has enough potential to cross the $9 mark in the future.

Despite the underperformance of Shiba Inu (SHIB), cryptocurrency analytics and forecasting firms still have some favorable future predictions for the second-biggest memecoin.

According to a recent market update shared by Telegaon, a cryptocurrency research firm that uses Artificial Intelligence to forecast the prices of digital currencies, the price of a unit of SHIB could surge as high as $9.61 by 2050.

The analytics firm made different price predictions for SHIB from 2022 to 2050. Telegaon made the price prediction in three categories: minimum, average, and maximum price.

Telegaon Shiba Inu Predictions

By 2025, a year after the next Bitcoin halving, Telegaon noted that SHIB will hit a new all-time high (ATH). On average, the price target for Shiba Inu in 2025 is $0.0001152 while the maximum price target is set at $0.0001928.

Similarly, the cryptocurrency research firm noted that it is expecting SHIB to reach an average price of $0.000935 and a maximum price of $0.00112 by 2030.

Telegaon noted that it expects Shiba Inu to surge again to a new all-time high by 2040 because the second-biggest memecoin must have burnt 50% of its total supply.

“By 2040, we may expect an average price of $2.76 depending upon the market trend. Our maximum price prediction for Shiba Inu Coin is $4.15 in 2040,” Telegaon said.

SHIB to Peak at $9.61 By 2050

Telegaon’s highest price prediction for Shiba Inu is scheduled for 2050 when it stated that SHIB can rise to an average price of $7.89, while the minimum price target is set around $5.42 and the maximum price of $9.61.

“The maximum price is expected to be trading around $9.61. If there is any bull rally in 2050 the prices of Shiba Inu coins may skyrocket and surpass our price forecast,” the cryptocurrency forecast company added.

SHIB Prediction Not 100% Guaranteed

The Telegaon’s price prediction for Shiba Inu cannot be completely relied upon as several events may occur along the way that could see the price of the asset class fall below or above the forecast.

For instance, while Telegaon forecasted this year’s SHIB minimum price at $0.00003158, the cryptocurrency has fallen way below that due to a number of factors, including rising inflation and the crash of some cryptocurrency projects.

SHIB Down 90.6%

At the moment, SHIB is changing hands at $0.00000817, down 90.6% from its all-time high of $0.00008616.

In general, Telegaon considers Shiba Inu as a good investment vehicle given its past performance that has seen it surged 14443725.4% since its all time low (ATL).

Terra’s Do Kwon Goes On A Charm Offensive, Becomes A Motivational Speaker to Keep up Hopes of Investors

Terra’s Do Kwon Goes On A Charm Offensive, Tells Investors To Persevere Crypto Crash.

Do Kwon has turned into a motivational speaker to keep up the hopes of investors. A few weeks ago, the Terra ecosystem went down in a spiraling price crash that left investors with $40 billion in losses.

Terra 2.0 was launched and that followed a botched LUNA (Luna 2.0) airdrop. Luna 2.0 almost found a footing at around $19 before crashing as well. It’s now trading at just around $2.

Meanwhile, the Terra founder and controller of Terraform Labs, the developer team of the blockchain, has faced backlash after backlash over recent weeks. The Terra community seems to be losing trust in him and TFL. Now, Do Kwon has come up with a new plan to motivate Terra investors.

In a recent Twitter thread, he went on a charm offensive to calm down irritated investors.

Learning From Lessons

According to Kwon, investors should keep their faith intact regardless of whether crypto, especially Luna’s, price crashes or not. He went on to say that the troubles that have plagued Terra over the last month should be a lesson to future blockchain and industry builders to do better. In his view, the next generation of builders will be tasked with developing better systems that will be resistant to such vulnerabilities.

DeFi And Volatility Are Part Of The Game

In another statement meant to ease tensions after Luna 2.0 failed to deliver as expected, Do Kwon said that market volatility, especially in the DeFi market, keeps the industry alive and is the price that people have to pay to win against censorship and enjoy sovereignty. He went on to claim that liquidations shouldn’t be so scary as to render these beliefs unfunctional.

With this, Kwon seems to attempt to focus the community on governments and censorship as opposed to Terra. For one, millions of people lost their money when UST de-pegged and Luna crashed. Many were liquidated as well.

Kenyan Students Arrested For Using Bitcoin In Money Laundering

Kenyan Students Captured For Laundering Money In BTC.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kenya, a group of Kenyan students has been stealing the email of credit cards of people from other countries by using a technique called email phishing to buy Bitcoin with stolen cards.

After obtaining innocent people’s personal information through bogus emails, the students use the stolen credit card numbers to buy bitcoin, which they subsequently exchange for Kenyan shillings.

According to the report, Kenyatta University students Francis Maina Wambui Alias Nick, 26, and Zellic Alusa, 25, were both detained during the raid in the presence of two young girls. Both suspects go by the alias Nick.

During the arrest, the suspect’s belongings including five computers, four cellphones, two wifi devices, three hard drives, and a variety of SIM cards were found.

Although the crew targets credit cards belonging to persons residing in other countries, Kenyans have also suffered financial losses as a result of cybercrime connected to banking. In 2018, total losses were $295 million, which was an increase over 2017’s total of $210 million.

The District Attorney’s Office claims that the two college students will use the ill-gotten gains to support their extravagant way of life. According to the reports, the students also used the looted money to acquire houses and to engage in sexual activities

Following the search of an apartment in which the two individuals were doing their business, the DCI said that one of the papers that had been found was a leasehold agreement that had been signed on May 25 for a property located in Juja and valued at Sh 850,000 ($7,240).

A few days before the raid, the Kenya National Police Service launched a forensics lab to combat escalating cybercrime and cryptocurrency fraud. This is another move by Kenyan authorities to clamp down on hackers who appear unaffected by the 2018 Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act, which stipulates a 2-year prison sentence and a $2,000 fine for exploiting a payment network to launder money.
