Expert Predicts XRP Price if Solana Reaches $1,000, Advises Patience

As June sets in with altcoins like XRP and Solana underperforming compared to Bitcoin, market analysts are painting a more optimistic picture.

In May, Bitcoin reached a new all-time high of $111,980, setting a historic milestone. Despite this, leading altcoins like Solana and XRP lagged behind Bitcoin’s momentum and failed to set new highs. Still, market watchers anticipate a potential altcoin season in June, during which top coins could perform significantly better.

Given the uncertainty surrounding altcoin performance, analysts urge patience, suggesting that long-term investors who remain steadfast could be rewarded.

Bitcoin Can Still Hit $200K

In a recent post on X, veteran trader “Crypto Fergani” shared his outlook for the potential peak prices of various coins, including Bitcoin. He projected that Bitcoin’s bullish momentum could drive its price to a peak of $200,000 per coin.

Recall that Bitcoin reached $111,980 on May 22, hitting a peak valuation of $2.22 trillion, a market cap that briefly allowed it to surpass both Google and Amazon in global rankings. However, Bitcoin has since corrected by 8% and has returned to the $103,000 level.

Still, industry observers like Fergani believe Bitcoin’s price could double from here and surpass $200,000.

Bitcoin’s potential rally to $200,000 would likely boost interest in the altcoin market, particularly among investors who now view BTC as too expensive.

As a result, Fergani projects that Ethereum, the leading altcoin, could reach $10,000 per coin. With its current price at $2,521, this would represent a 3x increase from current levels.

Where XRP Could Go After Solana Hits $1,000

Fergani expects even more impressive gains from Solana and XRP. He projects Solana could reach a peak of $1,000. With SOL currently trading at $154, reaching $1,000 would represent a 566% upside for current holders.

As for XRP, he forecasts a peak of $10, which would be a 370% gain from its current price of $2.13.

Among the major altcoins, XRP is the one that has not broken its all-time high for several cycles. However, popular opinion in the crypto community suggests that this cycle may finally end XRP’s nearly eight-year drought. Many believe a $10 price target is realistic, though some are predicting even bolder figures.

Other Expert Opinions on XRP’s Outlook This Cycle

For example, George Tung, founder of CryptosRUs, recently predicted that XRP could rise to $8–$10 by the end of 2025 as a conservative estimate.

He cites XRP’s strong fundamentals, resilience across multiple market cycles, and growing institutional interest, including several ETF filings, as key drivers.

Tung also compared XRP’s potential 4x gain to a projected 2x gain for Bitcoin and a 3x gain for Ethereum. Similarly, former skeptic Davinci Jeremie now acknowledges XRP’s institutional traction and sees a potential high of $24.

While uncertainty still surrounds these ambitious price predictions, Fergani advises investors to remain patient as these forecasts play out.

Analyst Identifies Final XRP Go-Go Signal for an Eventual Price Explosion

A renowned market technician and XRP permabull has identified what he believes is the final “go-go signal” that could lead to a price explosion.

This commentary came from EGRAG Crypto, a well-known market commentator within the community. Notably, his recent analysis comes as XRP has remained within a bearish range amid the broader market uncertainty. The asset has again slumped below the $2.2 level, now trading at $2.16.

Amid this downtrend, EGRAG remains optimistic. In his analysis, he confirmed that XRP remains in a strong position, identifying what needs to happen for the asset to record a bullish breakout.

XRP Slips into Mega Falling Wedge

The analyst noted that on the 4-hour chart, XRP has entered a “mega falling wedge.” Specifically, the pattern took shape after the November 2024 upsurge that saw XRP reclaim the $1, $2, and $3 psychological levels in one fell swoop across three consecutive months.

However, after claiming a seven-year peak of $3.4 in mid-January 2025, XRP observed a pullback, immediately slumping below $3. With the asset observing lower highs amid the correction that followed, the falling wedge took shape.

Since then, XRP has remained within this falling wedge, unable to secure an upsurge large enough to break above. It made several attempts to breach the falling wedge but faced resistance at the upper trendline.

XRP 4h Chart EGRAG Crypto
XRP 4h Chart | EGRAG Crypto

For instance, a rally to $3.02 in March met a roadblock at the trendline, leading to another pullback into the wedge. Another attempt came up last month when XRP soared to the $2.65 price level. In this region, the asset secured a breakout, but it was weak. As a result, a retest of the trendline led to another slump into the wedge.

EGRAG Identifies Five Targets, Including His “Go-Go Signal”

Now, with XRP trading below $2.2 and inside the wedge, EGRAG has pointed out five price levels it must conquer to flip bullish, with one of them being his “go-go signal.” The first level is the $2.3 price level, which XRP has failed to claim since May 29. The second level is the $2.35 mark, an important point for bullish continuation.

Meanwhile, EGRAG has identified the $2.36 price as the third price target. He suggests XRP would finally break out of the mega falling wedge pattern once it reclaims this level. From here, the next price target rests on the $2.45 mark, representing a two-week high.

Importantly, the analyst singled out the next target at $2.65 as the “go-go signal.” This indicates that once XRP reclaims this level, which it has traded below for nearly a month, it would represent the signal of an imminent breakout from the current bearish phase.

While EGRAG failed to present any price target in this analysis, it had in the past projected rallies to greater heights. In particular, the $27 target remains his consistent goal, which he believes XRP has the potential to claim during the ongoing bull run.

Here’s What 2,000 XRP Could Be Worth by the End of 2025

In a recent video, analyst Steph discussed what 2,000 XRP tokens could be worth by the end of the 2025 bull cycle.

According to him, XRP’s market dominance, after years of decline, has finally broken out of a long-term downtrend dating back to 2017.

Historically, XRP reached a market dominance of around 30% during the last powerful bull cycle. At the time of Steph’s recording, XRP held roughly 4% of the total crypto market share. Meanwhile, Bitcoin dominated at 62% and Ethereum at around 10%.

Steph suggests that if XRP can reclaim its previous dominance highs, it could significantly boost the token’s value and reward today’s investors. He leveraged various market assumptions for XRP to forecast the potential worth of 2,000 coins.

Scenario 1: Conservative Market Cap, Major XRP Upside

In the first scenario, Steph assumes the total crypto market cap remains stagnant at $3.48 trillion, which he describes as highly conservative. If XRP regains 30% market dominance, the token could see a 7.5x increase from its current level.

With a then-current price of $2.13 per XRP, this scenario implies a target price of $17.10 per token. That would bring the value of 2,000 XRP to $34,200. Compared to the current investment of around $4,650, that’s a potential return of 635%, even without any overall market cap growth.

However, the likelihood of this outcome remains speculative, as it assumes XRP alone experiences massive growth while other assets remain relatively flat.

Scenario 2: Market Cap Doubles, XRP Hits $34

Steph’s second scenario assumes a more optimistic market environment, where the total crypto market cap doubles to $6.96 trillion.

With the same 30% market dominance, XRP’s price would rise to $34.20. Under this projection, 2,000 XRP tokens could be worth $68,400, representing a gain of over 1,370% from current levels.

Steph emphasizes that this scenario is possible and probable, given growing institutional interest and broader crypto adoption trends. Notably, several institutions have disclosed plans to hold XRP as a treasury asset. Others have filed for ETF products involving XRP.

Technical Pattern Supports Bullish Outlook

Beyond market dominance, Steph highlighted a key technical formation on XRP’s monthly chart: a double bottom (W) pattern, with a confirmed breakout above the neckline and monthly closes above previous all-time highs.

The target price from this chart formation is approximately $30 per XRP, aligning closely with the target in Scenario 2.

“This is extremely bullish,” Steph noted, pointing out how the chart pattern supports both a market cap doubling and a return to historical dominance levels.

Despite the bullish outlook, Steph tempers expectations by noting there are no guarantees XRP will return to 30% dominance. Meanwhile, he noted even a rise to 15–20% could still deliver strong gains for investors.

Ripple CTO Says XRP Ledger Is More Than Just XRP

Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer, David Schwartz, has clarified that the XRP Ledger (XRPL) is evolving far beyond solely associated with XRP.

This clarification came in response to community discussions about the ledger’s broader purpose. Specifically, Schwartz highlighted XRPL’s growing support for a wide variety of digital assets beyond XRP.

Notably, the ledger already supports stablecoins and is moving toward enabling tokenized real-world assets, such as property or gold. According to Schwartz, plans are also in place to integrate loan functionalities.

These developments position XRPL as a multi-asset network capable of powering a diverse decentralized financial ecosystem. This flexibility is essential for XRPL’s built-in decentralized exchange (DEX), which requires multiple assets to function effectively. For context, a DEX based on a single token may not be able to offer deep liquidity or efficient trading paths.

XRP Still Holds a Native Advantage on the Ledger

Despite XRPL’s broader focus, XRP still retains a privileged role within the network. For one, it is the only asset that any account on the ledger can receive without needing trustline configurations.

XRP is also unique in that it has no counterparty. This means no one issues or backs it, making it native to the XRPL protocol.

Furthermore, when users initiate transactions across the network, XRPL’s pathfinding algorithm prioritizes XRP liquidity first. This makes XRP more likely to be used as a bridge asset during trades through a feature known as autobridging.

Additionally, XRP is the sole asset that can be used to pay transaction fees on the network, reinforcing its integral role in XRPL operations.

Uncertain Link Between XRPL Adoption and XRP Price

Meanwhile, Schwartz also raised an important open question: to what extent does XRPL’s utility and adoption translate into direct value for XRP?

He stressed that while the network’s growing capabilities could increase overall utility, the exact relationship between XRPL’s success and XRP’s market price remains unclear.

Essentially, it’s difficult to determine how much of XRP’s current valuation reflects the ledger’s utility, or whether increased usage of other assets on XRPL will significantly boost demand for XRP itself.

Notably, the CTO’s comments came in response to concerns from community member Ricky Tan, who sought clarity on whether to focus solely on XRP or consider the broader asset activity within XRPL.

This follows discussions about Ripple building a financial system centered on the XRP, XRPL, and its new RLUSD stablecoin.

Schwartz agrees that these components together form a financial system supporting Ripple’s broader goal of offering services like payments, investments, and loans, which banks and fintech firms traditionally handle.

Mike Alfred Predicts Bitcoin Price in Six Weeks, Tom Lee Reacts

Although Bitcoin has been in a holding pattern for longer than many had hoped, industry commentator Mike Alfred believes BTC may be on the cusp of a major price breakout.

Today, Bitcoin posted a 0.5% decline, trading at $104,800, with a weekly performance showing a 2.5% dip. However, in a recent post on X, Alfred revealed that his proprietary indicators are aligned and pointing toward a significant upward move.

Specifically, he is targeting a Bitcoin price between $121,000 and $166,000 as early as July 18. The disclosure was humorous, with Alfred jokingly urging community members to “keep this between us.”

As a result, the post garnered significant engagement from the crypto community.

Tom Lee Agrees

Even Fundstrat’s Chief Investment Officer, Tom Lee, responded with a cryptic but supportive message. Lee, known for his long-standing bullish stance on Bitcoin, indicated agreement with Alfred’s forecast. He has consistently maintained a price outlook of $250,000 for Bitcoin this season, teasing potential values as high as $3 million in the longer term.

$102K is Bitcoin “Floor”

Earlier, Alfred also shared that a contact at trading giant Jane Street indicated $102,000 as “the approved floor” for Bitcoin. This perspective suggests bulls may not permit prices to fall below that level.

Indeed, since Bitcoin peaked at nearly $112,000 in May, subsequent retracements have not breached the $102,000 mark. According to Alfred, discussions are ongoing within Jane Street about allowing Bitcoin’s next leg up to extend as high as $121,000 or even $146,000.

Overall, Alfred’s July 18 timeline spotlights the next six weeks as transformative for the market. Meanwhile, short-term volatility remains, and the risk of the forecast not materializing exists.

However, Alfred has said that in a few years, when Bitcoin hits $20 million per coin, it won’t matter whether one bought BTC at $102,000 or $106,000. According to him, investors should focus on owning one whole Bitcoin.

Could Bitcoin Repeat 2017’s Parabolic Run?

In a separate commentary, researcher Joe Burnett argued that today’s Bitcoin market mirrors the dramatic 2017 bull run, when BTC jumped over 5,600%.

Back then, altcoin speculation funneled capital into Bitcoin, positioning it as a gateway asset. Now, companies like Strategy and MetaPlanet are raising funds through equity sales to buy BTC, creating similar buying pressure.

Meanwhile, inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs and growing institutional demand are reinforcing this upward trend.

If these forces persist, Burnett suggests Bitcoin could be on the cusp of a similar 2017 price run. With BTC now at $104,000, some analysts see $500,000 as a potential peak due to these favorable factors.

Bitcoin Boasts 53.1% Expected 10-Year Return, Outshining Gold, and US Treasury

0

Bitcoin is poised for remarkable returns over the next decade, according to new analysis from André Dragosch, the European Head of Research at Bitwise.

This forecast, shared through a detailed chart, highlights Bitcoin’s potential to outperform all other major asset classes by a wide margin.

Despite Bitcoin’s recent price movements, which saw a 0.51% decline in the last 24 hours and a 3.34% drop over the past week, the cryptocurrency’s long-term prospects remain strong.

Traditional Assets Forecasted to Underperform

In contrast to Bitcoin’s promising outlook, traditional assets like gold and U.S. real estate are projected to see negative returns. For context, gold is expected to yield a -3.6% annual return over the next ten years. This forecast suggests a continued decline in its performance as an investment vehicle.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Case-Shiller Index, tracking residential real estate prices, is also projected to deliver a modest 1.9% return per year, pointing to a flat or declining trend in housing prices.

However, the S&P 500 index, representing the broader U.S. stock market, has a more moderately bullish outlook with a 3.3% annual return. This figure, while positive, falls far short of Bitcoin’s growth forecast. Also, U.S. Treasury bonds are expected to offer 4.5% annual returns.

Bitcoin Leads in Expected Returns

Interestingly, Bitcoin stands out with an expected return of 53.1% per year over the next decade. Unlike traditional assets, Bitcoin benefits from its relatively new position in the financial scene and its potential to disrupt existing systems.

Bitcoin Expected Returns Bitwise
Bitcoin Expected Returns | Bitwise

The growing interest in Bitcoin has been confirmed by several market analysts, who point to its strong fundamentals and expanding user base as key factors in its long-term success.

The analyst raises a critical question about the future of investment strategy, asking why anyone would choose traditional assets to build long-term wealth at this point.

Rising Adoption and Network Growth in the U.S.

Notably, survey data from the Nakamoto Project shows a shift in U.S. investment behavior, with 50 million Americans owning Bitcoin compared to 37 million holding gold. The U.S. leads globally in Bitcoin holdings, accounting for over 40% of the total supply.

Also, American firms dominate institutional Bitcoin ownership, making up nearly 95% of corporate holdings, while these firms fund 82% of Bitcoin development and attract 70% of venture capital. Since 2021, U.S. firms have mined over $42 billion in Bitcoin, investing $30 billion in domestic operations and creating thousands of jobs.

Surge in On-Chain Activity Signals Growing Interest

Also note that on May 29, 2025, Bitcoin saw the highest number of new wallet creations in six months, with over 550,000 added.

This surge in activity, combined with a rise in token circulation on June 2, 2025, reflects growing Bitcoin adoption and increasing market participation, despite a stable price near $105,000.

Analyst Finds Bitcoin Price Always Pumps After Golden Cross Pullbacks: Here’s His EOY Target

A notable analyst has suggested that Bitcoin price often observes massive upsurges shortly after a golden cross pullback.

Notably, Bitcoin price recently climbed to a new all-time high of $112,000, but the rally met resistance. The price pulled back, with BTC now trading at $104,372, a 2.73% drop over the past week.

Despite this dip, Chain Mind, a well-followed crypto analyst, believes this is nothing unusual. In fact, he expects a strong rebound, predicting that Bitcoin could reach $150,000 by the end of 2025.

Bitcoin Price Always Rallies After Golden Cross Pullback

In his recent analysis, Chain Mind pointed to the golden cross pattern, where the 50-day moving average crosses above the 200-day moving average. Notably, traders usually see this as a bullish sign. However, the analyst says Bitcoin often drops right after this signal before urging.

Bitcoin Golden Cross
Bitcoin Golden Cross

He called attention to a similar moment in late 2024 when Bitcoin fell 10% following a golden cross. However, after this pullback, it surged more than 60% over the next two months. Chain Mind sees the same setup unfolding now. For context, the Bitcoin price has already fallen 8% since its latest golden cross.

He believes this recent correction could lead to a major rally, just like before. For him, the key is patience. Essentially, the golden cross does not bring instant gains, but it often marks the beginning of a larger uptrend.

Here’s Why Bitcoin Price Action Still Looks Strong

Right now, the Bitcoin price action still looks strong over the long term. Specifically, it trades well above the 200-day moving average, which currently sits near $94,700.

As long as Bitcoin holds above this support line, Chain Mind says there is no reason to doubt the broader bullish trend. If support holds, he expects the next leg higher to begin soon, with $150,000 as a realistic target by the end of the year, aligning with Peter Brandt’s prediction.

Also, one major trend backing this view is the rise in Bitcoin dominance, now at its highest level in more than three years. Investors continue to move funds into Bitcoin while pulling money out of altcoins.

Bitcoin Dominance
Bitcoin Dominance

For instance, Ethereum (ETH) struggles to stay above $2,500, and many smaller crypto assets have hit fresh all-time lows. Chain Mind believes this is a sign that individual traders and large institutions prefer the safety and strength of Bitcoin during uncertain times.

He also pointed out that altcoins are not just lagging behind Bitcoin but also losing value even against the dollar. Many have broken through key support levels, which shows the market’s appetite for risk remains very low.

Whales Prefer Bitcoin During Uncertainty

This suggests that large investors are currently not rushing into speculative bets. Instead, they’re buying Bitcoin and avoiding the rest. This trend is evident in massive Bitcoin purchases by firms like Strategy and Metaplanet, as well as ETF inflows.

Chain Mind suggested that even though prices are choppy, long-term holders aren’t selling. On-chain data shows that a huge portion of Bitcoin supply remains untouched, which supports the view that the long-term trend still leans bullish.

Bitcoin Long-Term Holders
Bitcoin Long-Term Holders

To see altcoins bounce back, Chain Mind says two things need to happen. First, Bitcoin must hold above key support, and second, market sentiment must shift. Until that happens, money will likely stay with Bitcoin. He added that a real altcoin rally won’t start until pairs like ETH/BTC and SOL/BTC begin to rise.

XRP Qualifies as Utility Token Under MiCA, Bitcoin and Ethereum Excluded From MiCA Rules

0

Mary-Elizabeth McMunn, the Deputy Governor of Ireland’s Central Bank, suggests that Bitcoin and Ethereum fall outside the scope of MiCA.

McMunn made this announcement in a keynote speech at the National Fintech Summit in Dublin. According to McMunn, Bitcoin and Ethereum will not be subject to MiCA rules because neither of these assets has an identifiable issuer.

Although McMunn delivered the speech last month, popular crypto sleuth SMQKE highlighted this key point in an X post today.

“It is important for consumers to be aware that MiCA will not cover all crypto assets. This decision could affect some major cryptos, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, as they fall outside the regulation’s framework because they have no identifiable issuer,” McMunn remarked.

Bitcoin and Ethereum Exempt from MiCA

For context, the MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) regulation serves as a unified regulatory framework for the EU’s crypto industry. It provides clear rules for the issuance, custody, and trading of crypto assets within the region.

Recently, McMunn clarified that the MiCA regulation is designed to regulate tokens with identifiable issuers. This suggests that cryptocurrencies issued by specific companies fall under the scope of the MiCA framework. However, those without identifiable issuers will not be compliant under the regulatory purview of MiCA.

Specifically, McMunn mentioned Bitcoin and Ethereum as cryptos that would be excluded from MiCA regulations as they lack identifiable issuers.

Currently, neither Bitcoin nor Ethereum has a single company issuing new coins into the market. The two world’s largest cryptocurrencies by market cap are powered by open-source, decentralized blockchains.

While new Bitcoins are issued through mining based on the network’s proof-of-work algorithm, new Ethereum coins are created through a proof-of-stake validation.

XRP Qualifies as a Utility Token Under MiCA

Meanwhile, SMQKE emphasized that XRP will be regulated as a utility token under the MiCA framework. Tokens with utility classification under the MiCA framework are those designed to grant users access to goods and services offered by their issuers.

It is common knowledge that XRP has a broad utility, ranging from speculative trading to cross-border settlements. Notably, SMQKE backed this assertion with comments from Enoch Chng, an Associate Professor of Information Systems at the Singapore Management University.

The expert indicated that XRP serves as a utility coin, suggesting that it can be traded as a currency and also used to facilitate cross-border payments.

Unlike Bitcoin and Ethereum, XRP has an identifiable issuer–Ripple. The San Francisco-based company issues XRP into the market via its monthly escrow release. Earlier this month, the company locked 670 million XRP and later released 1 billion coins.

Here’s the Potential XRP Price If It Captures 40% of the Crypto Market

XRP price could soar to greater heights if XRP dominance surpasses its all-time high to reach the 40% region.

XRP, which was once the second dominant crypto asset by a large mile, has since relinquished its position. For context, from October 2014, two years after the XRP Ledger launched, XRP overtook Litecoin (LTC) to become the second-largest crypto asset.

XRP Historical Market Position CoinMarketCap

XRP Dominance Has Witnessed a Rollercoaster Ride

It mostly maintained this position until early 2016, when it began to battle Ethereum (ETH) for the spot. Meanwhile, data from TradingView indicates that XRP dominance soared from 2014 to 2015, rising from 0.35% in July 2014 to a peak of 20.69% by January 2015. This occurred as XRP became the second-largest crypto asset.

However, during the battle with Ethereum for the second spot, the XRP dominance saw gradual declines. Specifically, dominance collapsed to a low of 0.95% by March 2017, especially as XRP underperformed at the start of the 2017 bull run, pushing it lower the top 10 rankings.

Interestingly, XRP’s dominance recovered from March 2017 as XRP observed its historic run. Dominance soared to a new high of 31.33% amid the XRP rally to $3.8. This 31.33% marked the peak dominance for XRP, and since then, the metric saw intermittent declines until it hit 1.21% in early November 2024.

Current Market Position

Now, with the XRP price rebounding beyond the $0.5 on the back of the U.S. elections last November, XRP dominance soared to a four-year peak of 5.58% by January. Despite a drop alongside XRP’s price pullback to the $2 lows, dominance currently sits at 3.97%.

However, some XRP market commentators believe XRP dominance could soar beyond the 31.33% peak to reach a new all-time high of 40%. Before this can happen, XRP would need to capture a lot of the market share from Ethereum and Bitcoin.

For context, Bitcoin dominance currently sits at 64.15%, the largest for any single crypto asset. Meanwhile, Ethereum dominance stands at 9.71%, the second largest. At these dominance figures, Bitcoin has a market cap of $314.5 billion, while Bitcoin boasts a valuation of $2.08 trillion.

XRP Price if XRP Dominance Soars to 40%

With its 3.97% market dominance, XRP has a market cap of $128.51 billion. However, should it claim 40% dominance, its market cap would soar tremendously. Specifically, with the global crypto market boasting a market cap of $3.24 trillion, a 40% dominance would place XRP’s valuation at $1.296 trillion.

Meanwhile, XRP currently has a circulating supply of about 58.75 billion tokens. Considering this supply, a $1.296 trillion market cap translates to a price of $22.06 per XRP. Notably, market pundits like Oscar Ramos have projected that XRP could hit $22 with a $1 trillion market cap.

However, while an XRP rally to $22 is highly feasible, capturing 40% of the crypto market might be challenging. As a result, if XRP maintains its market dominance while the broader crypto market expands considerably, XRP could reach the $22 price without having to capture 40% of the market.

For context, for XRP to hold a $1.296 trillion market cap and a $22 price while at 3.97% dominance, the broader crypto market needs to expand to $32.65 trillion. Interestingly, a July 2023 Forbes report projected that crypto ETFs could inject $30 trillion in capital into the crypto market.

Ripple CEO Has Not Denied Circle Acquisition Talks: Here’s Why

A recent statement from Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has added some credibility to earlier reports that the company is seeking to acquire its rival, Circle.

During a fireside chat at the recently concluded XRP Las Vegas event, a panelist asked Garlinghouse to comment on the speculation surrounding a potential acquisition of Circle. The Ripple CEO humorously remarked that he “cannot pre-announce” any acquisition.

Denial of $20 Billion Offer, but Not the Acquisition

Addressing the rumored takeover of the USDC issuer, he refuted claims that Ripple offered up to $20 billion to rival Coinbase in a bid to acquire Circle. Specifically, Garlinghouse stated the company “definitely never” made a $20 billion offer to Circle.

However, the XRP community interpreted his remarks as a subtle confirmation that discussions about a potential acquisition may be ongoing. Rather than denying the existence of any talks, Garlinghouse only disputed the exaggerated figure circulating within the community.

Essentially, if there were no offer at all, Garlinghouse would likely have clarified that Ripple made no attempt to acquire Circle. Instead, he focused only on dismissing the inflated valuation rumor.

Earlier reports about a possible Ripple-Circle merger suggested that Ripple initially offered around $5 billion. However, those reports also claimed that Circle rejected the offer as too low and opted instead to pursue an IPO.

Notably, Circle aims to raise about $6 billion from its public offering, a figure 20% higher than Ripple’s alleged initial offer.

Following this, an unverified source claimed Ripple had increased its bid to $10 billion. Based on this speculation, commentators such as Mickle suggested that Circle may abandon its IPO plans, given the attractiveness of the revised offer.

Still, other commentators argue that the offer’s relevance depends on Circle’s long-term strategic goals. If factors beyond immediate financial gain drive the IPO, a sellout might not align with those objectives.

Ripple Broader Goals

Nonetheless, Garlinghouse’s comments seemed to pour cold water on the idea that Ripple had revised its offer upward. However, the lack of a clear denial continues to fuel speculation that private discussions about a potential Circle acquisition are ongoing.

This aligns with Ripple’s broader strategy of aggressive acquisitions to strengthen its position in the financial services market. As the company doubles down on M&A, it has deprioritized plans for its own IPO.

Ripple has already acquired several firms, including Metaco, Standard Custody, and, more recently, Hidden Road—its largest acquisition to date. Circle could be the next in line.

It’s worth noting that a Circle spokesperson reportedly dismissed the acquisition rumors, claiming the company is not for sale. However, the statement did not come from an official channel, and the spokesperson was unnamed, which undermines the credibility of the denial.

Update on Circle IPO

Meanwhile, Circle’s upcoming IPO is over 25 times oversubscribed, indicating overwhelming investor interest and potentially complicating Ripple’s acquisition ambitions. The USDC issuer initially aimed to raise $624 million by offering 24 million shares at $24–$26 each, suggesting a valuation of up to $6.71 billion.

Due to strong demand, Circle increased the offering to 32 million shares, boosting its projected valuation to around $7.2 billion.

Major investors such as ARK Invest and BlackRock are reportedly participating. The IPO is scheduled for June 5 on the NYSE under the ticker “CRCL.” The massive oversubscription suggests Circle may be undervalued at its current pricing and could perform strongly in the public market.
