Shiba Inu Team Predicts 1,000% SHIB Surge in 3 Days

0

Shiba Inu marketing lead Lucie shares an ambitious forecast for SHIB, projecting that SHIB’s price could soar tenfold within three days.

The Shiba Inu marketing lead shared the bullish vision yesterday via her X handle. In the May 8 tweet, she predicted that Shiba Inu’s price would increase by 1,000% within three days. Such exponential growth would potentially take Shiba Inu to a new all-time high.

Shiba Inu Price If It Increases By 1,000%

At the time Lucie made the projection yesterday, SHIB was changing hands around $0.00001346 per token, translating to a market cap of $7.93 billion.

A 1,000% growth within three days would potentially take Shiba Inu’s price to a new all-time high of $0.00014806 by May 11. Shiba Inu would have a valuation of $87.24 billion at this price, assuming its circulating supply remains constant.

Meanwhile, Lucie humorously stressed that she is confident about the prediction as she has already told her cat and her boss. If the prediction materializes, Lucie asserts that she would be emotionally unavailable for anything other than celebrating the milestone.

Previous Take on SHIB’s 1,000% Surge

This is not the first time that Lucie has teased a 1,000% uptick for Shiba Inu. Last year, the marketing lead emphasized that Shiba Inu was capable of soaring by 1,000% within a short period of 2 – 3 days, citing the cryptocurrency’s ‘well-established ecosystem’ as a potential catalyst.

At the time, she warned investors not to rely on her forecast as financial advice, emphasizing that it is only her personal view. However, she seemed confident that she had already informed her boss about it this time.

Shiba Inu’s Latest Performance

Since Lucie issued the bullish forecast, Shiba Inu has experienced substantial growth, driven by several macroeconomic factors, including a potential trade deal between the U.S. and the U.K., and the Federal Reserve maintaining an interest rate of 4.25%-4.5%.

Amid these developments, Bitcoin crossed the psychological mark of $100,000, reaching a daily high of $103,969. Overall, the broader crypto market cap also soared 5.6% to $3.23 trillion, with assets like Shiba Inu registering significant gains.

So far, Shiba Inu is up 9.58% over the past 24 hours. It is currently trading at $0.00001463, up 8.69% since Lucie issued the bullish forecast. Shiba Inu’s price has increased by 9.23% in the past week and 33.24% in the past month.

At the current price of $0.00001463, Shiba Inu is still 912% away from hitting Lucie’s projected target of $0.00014806.

Other Ambitious Predictions from Lucie

It is worth mentioning that the $0.00014806 target is conservative compared to other lofty predictions from the Shiba Inu marketing lead.

As previously reported, Lucie forecasted that Shiba Inu can clinch the highly ambitious $0.01 milestone. However, she indicated that the prediction will not happen overnight, encouraging investors to exercise patience.

Notably, she backed her $0.01 prediction in a separate comment, suggesting that it is likely that SHIB will reach the target in its lifetime. She also shared her interaction with ChatGPT, confirming that it is possible that SHIB will surpass the $0.01 target to ambitious milestones like $1.

Top American Fast-Food Chain Opens Bitcoin Payments to Over 100 Million Customers

0

American restaurant chain Steak ‘n Shake has disclosed plans to begin accepting Bitcoin payments across all of its U.S. locations.

The company announced the move in a tweet on Thursday. It positions itself as one of the first major fast food brands to integrate the world’s largest crypto into its retail payment system. The rollout comes after months of social media speculation and engagement, including from notable tech figures.

High-Volume Business Model Faces Crypto Integration

Steak ‘n Shake’s integration of Bitcoin will test the cryptocurrency’s functionality in such a high-volume setting. While digital asset payments have gained traction in the tech and e-commerce sectors, physical fast food locations present a different challenge due to high foot traffic and frequent small-ticket transactions.

The company hinted at this transition in March when it posted a question on social media platforms asking if it should accept Bitcoin. The post drew attention from multiple sectors, including engagement from former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.

After sparking online discussions in March with a public poll about Bitcoin acceptance, the company steadily built anticipation through targeted crypto-themed campaigns. The company also reinforced interest by incorporating Tesla-related promotions and cues tied to cryptocurrency.

This sustained engagement eventually culminated in Thursday’s official confirmation of its Bitcoin payment rollout.

With over 100 million customers, Steak ‘n Shake’s integration could become one of the largest-scale implementations of crypto payments in U.S. fast food to date.

Growing List of Crypto-Accepting Chains

Steak ‘n Shake is not the first fast food chain to explore crypto payments. Since 2022, Chipotle has offered support for nearly 100 cryptocurrencies through payment processor Flexa, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. This system facilitates in-store payments through digital wallets and QR code scanning, expanding customer flexibility.

Other national chains have also tested crypto integration. Starbucks, for instance, allowed users to reload their digital wallets using Bitcoin through the Bakkt app, a service that converts crypto into fiat before reaching the retailer.

Subway stands among the earliest adopters, having trialed Bitcoin payments at selected franchise locations as far back as 2013. Notably, numerous humanitarian services have also incorporated crypto payments. For Instance, in June 2024, The Crypto Basic reported that the British Red Cross began accepting Bitcoin donations.

Santiment: Bitcoin Adds Record 344K+ Wallets in a Day as Price Retests $104K

0

Bitcoin saw the addition of over 344,00 new wallets yesterday, May 8, signaling rising retail activity as price reached a nine-month peak.

Bitcoin recorded a sharp surge in price between May 6 and May 9, 2025, climbing from under $94,000 to touch $104,000. The move followed a brief consolidation phase seen from May 3 to May 5.

However, the recent price jump was not isolated. Data from Santiment, CoinGecko and SoSoValue reveals that wallet growth, user participation, and derivatives market dynamics significantly contributed to the acceleration.

Record-Breaking Wallet Growth

While Bitcoin price spiked through $103,000, a total of 344,620 new Bitcoin wallets were created, marking one of the highest single-day growths in wallet activity for 2025. The last time Bitcoin saw a comparable wallet increase was in April. This latest notable surge aligned directly with the start of the upward price movement.

Historically, rapid wallet creation often indicates new retail inflows, a trend typically associated with heightened investor interest during periods of positive market momentum. The latest spike in wallet growth builds on a trend that has persisted since May 4, when daily new wallets dropped below 272,000 as BTC price struggled.

The metric has continued to increase since then, reaching the latest peak. Additionally, related on-chain metrics revealed similar growth trends. New addresses rose by 8.13%, active addresses increased by 8.79%, and zero balance addresses turning active spiked 11.35% over the seven-day period.

These figures signal growing retail engagement, as previously inactive or new users began funding their wallets during the price rally.

Short Squeeze Drives Further Acceleration

In parallel, liquidation data from Bitcoin’s derivatives markets provided insight into the rally’s structure. Over a 24-hour span, $343.99 million in total positions were liquidated.

Of this figure, $320.96 million originated from short positions, significantly outweighing the $23.04 million in long liquidations. Within the past 12 hours, $184.90 million in short positions were closed, confirming intense market pressure against bearish positions.

These liquidations reflect a classic short squeeze—when rising prices force traders betting against the asset to exit, often by buying back into the market.

Bitcoin Surpasses Amazon in Market Cap

Additionally, amid the rally, Bitcoin’s market capitalization rose above Amazon’s, according to SoSoValue. With BTC reaching a $2.040 trillion market cap, it narrowly surpassed Amazon’s $2.039 trillion, positioning Bitcoin as the fifth-largest asset globally.

This development came during a period of intensified retail activity and derivatives-driven price movement. Bitcoin now follows NVIDIA, Apple, Microsoft, and Gold in total market value.

At the time of writing, BTC trades just above $102,000, marking a 4.1% gain over the past 24 hours, with a 6.4% increase for the week and 10.4% over 14 days.

Binance Founder Changpeng Zhao Says Bitcoin Is Easy If You Keep to This One Rule

0

With Bitcoin returning above $100,000, Binance’s Changpeng Zhao has outlined a golden rule that holders must adhere to in order to lock in good returns.

The flagship cryptocurrency reclaimed $100,000 on Thursday, extending its recent top form. Notably, the rally has induced ecstasy in the crypto community, replacing the fears and panic seen in the market a few weeks back when Bitcoin dumped below $80,000.

Changpeng Zhao, the co-founder of Binance, acknowledged this mood shift in a recent X post, advising enthusiasts on how to stay profitable in the crypto market. He stated that Bitcoin is easy if you “just don’t panic sell.”

Don’t Just Panic Sell: CZ

CZ’s tweet was particularly directed to those who could not withstand the market volatility in the past few months and chickened out of their holdings.

According to him, holding above the fears, doubts, and uncertainties (FUD) is crucial, as panicking in the face of adverse market conditions would ensure you sell at a loss.

Remarkably, the former Binance CEO remained exceptionally calm during Bitcoin’s price slump from its all-time high of $109,300 in January to $74,000 last month. He has often encouraged investors to remain calm and leverage the dips to buy more.

With Bitcoin regaining bullish momentum, CZ has reinstated the benefits of not panicking and just holding. To him, it is easier to make staggering returns on the pioneering cryptocurrency and the crypto market cap at large if you keep to this simple but golden rule.

Why People Don’t Hold: CZ

Meanwhile, in a parallel tweet on May 9, he further highlighted why holding is tedious for some people. In the piece, he emphasized that the lack of girth to HODL is due to investors not understanding blockchain technology and finance.

The prominent industry leader noted that buying Bitcoin based on recommendations without an in-depth knowledge of its underlying technology and future trajectory results in lower conviction to hold during downsides. To cure this, CZ recommended personal research and knowledge seeking.

Interestingly, CZ remains upbeat that the recent gains are meager in comparison to what lies ahead. Recall that he earlier predicted that Bitcoin would trade between $500,000 and $1 million this bull cycle.

In the meantime, Bitcoin has extended its grip above six figures, exchanging hands at $103,755 at the time of writing. Its market cap has also reclaimed $2 trillion, and the global crypto market valuation is well above $3.2 trillion.

Last Time This Happened, XRP Spiked to $3.29 — Here’s What It Is

XRP exchange flows have flipped positive after over two weeks of consistent net outflows, triggering bullish sentiments among analysts.

The latest turn of events comes on the back of a broader crypto market recovery push. For context, Bitcoin (BTC) spiked 6% yesterday, May 8, to finally recover the $100,000 mark, hitting a peak of $104,159 before stabilizing at $102,000.

Altcoins followed suit, with Ethereum (ETH) soaring 22%, its largest intraday gain since May 2021, to cross the $2,200 level. While XRP rallied 9.42% within the same timeframe, its gains fell short. However, some analysts have more reason to be bullish.

XRP Sees 17 Consecutive Days of Intraday Outflows

Particularly, XRP community commentator and software engineer Chad Steingraber recently confirmed that XRP’s exchange flows have flipped positive. This comes after over two weeks of consistent negative flows, as indicated by data from the analytics resource Coinglass.

For context, XRP exchange flows turned red on April 20 and continued until May 7, marking seventeen consecutive days of intraday outflows. Within this period, exchanges saw XRP outflows worth over $426 million.

Traditionally, these outflows are signs of positive market sentiments, as they could indicate that market participants are moving their XRP tokens out of exchanges. Notably, these investors often move their assets when they plan to store them in hot wallets for long-term HODLing.

However, Coinglass data suggests these outflows could also mean market participants are selling off their XRP tokens on exchanges for stablecoins or other assets. Steingraber’s commentary accounts for this secondary indicator, with the market commentator highlighting the trend as early as May 4.

At the time, outflows had hit their fourteenth consecutive day. Nonetheless, XRP maintained its footing above the $2.2 support, showing resilience. Steingraber pointed out then that the last time XRP saw fourteen consecutive intraday exchange outflows, its price spiked to the $3.3 peak shortly after.

XRP Spiked 60% Last Time It Saw a Major Outflow Streak

The Crypto Basic independently confirmed this claim. Specifically, XRP witnessed outflows from Dec. 18 to Dec. 31, 2024, marking fourteen straight days of negative flows. During this period, XRP price dropped, reaching a low of $2.05 by Dec. 31.

However, the asset recorded a price recovery on Jan. 1, 2025, coinciding with the first exchange inflow in two weeks. Following a period of price and flow fluctuations, XRP price eventually reached $3.29 on Jan. 18, a 60% rise from $2.05, eighteen days after the outflow streak ended.

Steingraber suggests this pattern could play out again. Notably, after the recent seventeen straight days of outflows, XRP saw intraday inflows worth $26.38 million yesterday, May 8, coinciding with the 9.42% price uptick that same day. This is similar to the pattern observed before the rally to $3.29.

Should the crypto asset follow the December 2024 to January 2025 trajectory, a comparative increase could see its price soar another 60% beyond the $3 mark, specifically round $3.7.

Investor Sentiment Recovering

Meanwhile, XRP investor sentiment appears to be recovering, especially in South Korea, which accounts for most of XRP’s trade volume. Recall that The Crypto Basic confirmed earlier that Korean traders on Upbit had sold nearly $500 million in net volume over four weeks.

Market analyst Dom, who highlighted this trend, recently revealed that traders on Upbit had now flipped bullish. In his latest update, Dom revealed that Upbit traders are now the largest XRP buyers, citing the XRP Spot Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD) metric. However, he noted that Binance was lagging.

Notably, Upbit traders had bought a net volume of nearly 10 million XRP in 24 hours. According to Dom, this trend across multiple exchanges represented the largest aggressive buying pressure in a week. At press time, XRP changes hands around $2.3, up 6.32% over the past 24 hours.

Eric Trump Applauds USD1’s Surge as Stablecoin Hits $2.1B Market Cap, Ranks 7th Globally

0

Eric Trump, son of U.S. President Donald Trump, has acknowledged the rapid growth of USD1, the stablecoin backed by World Liberty Financial (WLFI).

In just two months, the dollar-pegged digital asset has reached a $2.1 billion market cap, making it the seventh-largest stablecoin in circulation. The stablecoin’s trajectory has gained attention for its speed and scale, positioning it ahead of several longstanding players in the crypto space.

Commenting on the achievement, Eric expressed pride in USD1’s impressive ascent in a post on X.

USD1 Climbs Market Ranks in Weeks

Following its formal launch in early April, USD1 moved swiftly from an initial supply of $3.5 million to a supply exceeding $2 billion by April 30.

According to data from BscScan, the stablecoin experienced a series of large mints throughout the period, with individual transactions ranging between $50 million and $99 million. These inflows reflect notable backing and growing utility for the asset across the Binance Smart Chain.

The overall stablecoin market holds a valuation of $245 billion, with Tether’s USDT leading at $149.7 billion and USDC at $60 billion. However, USD1 has already surpassed PayPal USD at $871 million, Tether Gold at $818 million, and First Digital USD at $1.5 billion.

This ascent places USD1 in a competitive tier within a tightly watched segment of the digital currency ecosystem.

World Liberty Financial has previously outlined that USD1 maintains full asset backing, supported through a mix of short-duration U.S. Treasury instruments, liquid cash holdings, and U.S. dollar-based reserves.

As part of its operational rollout, the firm also plans to distribute a limited amount of USD1 directly to WLFI token holders.

Confirmed Role in $2 Billion Binance Deal

Meanwhile, USD1 was selected as the official transaction medium for a $2 billion investment by Abu Dhabi-based MGX into Binance. This institutional deal, first announced by Binance in March 2025, marks the exchange’s first major institutional placement.

The identity of the stablecoin used was initially undisclosed. However, during the Token2049 conference in Dubai, WLFI co-founder Zach Witkoff confirmed USD1’s role in the transaction.

The confirmation of USD1 as the chosen stablecoin adds operational relevance to its recent market growth. The deal also provides the asset with exposure in a high-profile investment, reinforcing its functionality within large-scale financial transactions on global platforms.

Celsius Founder Alex Mashinsky Receives 12-Year Sentence for Crypto Fraud

0

A US district court has sentenced Celsius founder and former CEO Alex Mashinsky to 12 years in prison for defrauding customers.

The Thursday ruling by US District Judge John Koeltl concluded that the 58-year-old crypto founder will spend the next 12 years of his life behind bars for his role in former crypto lender Celsius’ bankruptcy. Notably, Mashinsky received a reduced jail time from the 20 years that prosecutors proposed.

Mashinsky Receives Verdict for Crypto Fraud

For context, the former Celsius CEO pleaded guilty to one count of commodities and securities fraud each in December, avoiding a trial on his accusations. Prosecutors indicted him on seven charges, including two counts of wire fraud and manipulating the price of CEL, Celsius’ utility token.

After pleading guilty to defrauding customers and manipulating CEL price, his legal representative requested a mild one-year and one-day sentence. The lawyer based this argument on Mashinsky’s acceptance of responsibility for his crimes, arguing that a longer prison sentence would effectively amount to a life sentence

However, prosecutors pushed for two decades in prison, with some users affected by Celsius’ fallout recommending higher punishments. For perspective, over 200 victims sent statements to the Manhattan court requesting that Mashinsky be sentenced to life imprisonment, with many arguing that he has devastated lives.

Now, Judge Koeltl has sentenced the Celsius founder to 12 years’ imprisonment. Notably, the verdict was less than half of the 30-year maximum sentence for his crimes according to federal laws.

Bankrupt Celsius’ Inroad to Customer Repayment

The former crypto lender filed for bankruptcy in June 2022 after failing to process users’ withdrawals for weeks, citing “extreme market conditions” on the back of the Terra implosion a month before. Its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing revealed a $1.2 billion fund deficit and $4.7 billion debt to customers, indicating a lack of deposit insurance.

Meanwhile, the lender has ongoing efforts to recuperate funds and make customers partially whole in its restructuring proceedings. After much deliberation, Celsius agreed to repay customers over $3 billion and create a Bitcoin mining company owned by its creditors and managed by miner energy infrastructure firm Hut 8.

Meanwhile, Celsius started reimbursement in February 2024, repaying some users in cash and cryptocurrencies. At press time, the restructuring process is still ongoing.

SEC Officially Asks Court to End XRP Lawsuit as It Approves Settlement Terms with Ripple

0

The U.S. SEC and Ripple file a joint motion requesting an indicative ruling to enforce the parties’ settlement agreement.

In an unexpected turn of events, the parties filed a motion in a New York federal court yesterday, informing the court of their settlement.

SEC Approves Settlement with Ripple

The filing comes hours after the SEC officially announced a settlement with Ripple and two of its executives, Chris Larsen and Brad Garlinghouse.

The SEC’s commissioners expectedly approved the settlement terms, which require Ripple to pay a fine of $50 million instead of the initial $125 million order and also vacate the permanent injunction imposed on the company’s future XRP sales.

This approval has been pending for over a month. However, the SEC approved the decision yesterday following a closed-door meeting at the commission.

Parties Ask Judge Torres for Indicative Ruling

Following the approval, the parties jointly filed a settlement agreement letter in the New York federal court. In the filing, the SEC and Ripple asked Judge Analisa Torres for an indicative ruling.

This ruling would determine whether the judge, upon a future joint motion, would vacate the permanent injunction she imposed in her final judgment last year and release the $125 million held in escrow. Of this amount, the parties want $50 million allocated to the SEC, with the $75 million balance returned to Ripple.

Next Steps to Full Resolution

Meanwhile, famous defense lawyer James K. Filan highlighted the next steps in resolving the lawsuit.

Following the parties’ latest filing, the next steps will hinge on whether Judge Torres grants the indicative ruling to dismiss the injunction and release the fine held in escrow.

If granted, the SEC and Ripple will file a motion with the Second Circuit asking for a limited remand to have Judge Torres enforce these orders. Once approved, Judge Torres will have jurisdiction over the case for a limited time.

During this period, the SEC and Ripple will then submit a motion asking her to dissolve the permanent injunction and distribute the $125 million held in escrow based on the settlement agreement.

After Judge Torres enters those orders, the parties will return to the Second Circuit and ask the court to dismiss the appeal and cross-appeal. The timeline for the case’s full resolution remains uncertain.

Pro-XRP Lawyer Remains Optimistic

In the meantime, the XRP community is awaiting Judge Torres’ decision on whether she will grant the indicative ruling. Interestingly, famous pro-XRP lawyer John Deaton feels optimistic that the judge would grant the parties’ indicative ruling request, particularly lifting the injunction, given how sensible the agreement is.

“I don’t want to jinx anything, but the agreement below makes perfect sense, and it’s difficult to see it not going through,” Deaton remarked.

The lawsuit has been frozen in the Second Circuit as the parties work toward its resolution.

5 XRP Price Scenario: Analyst Says XRP Rally to $4.85 “Coming Very Soon”

A notable market analyst has suggested XRP is on the verge of a new all-time high, as he awaits multiple price pumps to greater heights.

EGRAG Crypto, which made this bullish projection in a recent analysis on X, cited historical data surrounding past XRP price rallies in different market cycles, which ranged from modest to explosive. According to him, the altcoin is currently looking to replicate these pumps.

For context, the latest commentary comes as an update to a previous analysis he made on XRP’s price action. Specifically, last September, while XRP still traded around the $0.5789 level, EGRAG argued that the asset had the potential to engineer massive pumps.

He leveraged past pumps as a guide, calling attention to five different rallies witnessed by XRP from August 2013 to April 2020. Interestingly, he ascribed color codes to each of these rallies for easy identification on the 1-month chart. The analyst suggested that XRP could repeat these pumps as the market matured.

Projected XRP Rallies to $3, $4.85, and $6.22

Notably, the first and lowest rally was a 932% pum,p which XRP observed from July to December 2014. During this period, the asset jumped from a low of $0.00281 to a high of $0.02803. EGRAG noted that if the same 932% pump occurred from the current cycle bottom of $0.2870, attained in June 2022, the XRP price could hit the $3 mark.

XRP 5 Color Scenario
XRP 5 Color Scenario | EGRAG Crypto

The analyst designated this pump with the White mark. Remarkably, XRP observed this run when it soared to the $3 region in January 2025. In his updated analysis, EGRAG confirmed that this pump has already materialized, and suggested that the next will involve the Yellow rally.

For context, the Yellow pump saw XRP soar 1,563% from its bottom in March 2020 to the peak of $1.96 in April 2021. EGRAG expects the asset to replicate this run, translating to a new price of $4.85 from the cycle bottom of $0.2870. According to the analyst, this is the next rally, which he suggests is “coming very soon.”

Meanwhile, following this push, EGRAG expects a more substantial pump designated with Red. This Red surge formed when XRP rallied 2,035% from its floor price in August 2013 to $0.0614 in December 2013. A similar uptrend would push the XRP price from this cycle’s bottom to a new ATH of $6.22. EGRAG says this is “coming soon.”

Possible Run to $7.68 and $27

However, the analyst believes XRP’s journey doesn’t end here. He also cited a 2,536% XRP rally from its July 2017 low to the $3.3 peak in January 2018. If XRP replicates this run, marked in Blue, from the current cycle bottom, its price would surge to $7.68. EGRAG believes this rally is “coming for sure.”

Lastly, he identified the most explosive run, designated in Green, and involved a 9,468% rise from January 2017 to $0.3988 in May 2017. To EGRAG, this would mark the ultimate XRP target, potentially pushing the asset to the $27 price from the cycle bottom of $0.2870. EGRAG says this uptrend is inevitable.

Interestingly, the analyst has always insisted that XRP could reach $27 as its ultimate target in several analyses. Most recently, he leveraged an inverted chart to predict a “gravitational fall” for XRP to $27. At press time, XRP trades for $2.3, requiring a 1,073% increase from the current price to $27.

Here’s the Real Extent of the Damage the SEC Lawsuit Had on XRP

The U.S. SEC’s lawsuit against Ripple caused much greater damage to XRP than the initial price collapse in early 2021, according to a community pundit.

As the extensive lawsuit between Ripple and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) moves closer to a resolution, market commentators have taken to discussing the deep scars of the nearly five-year tussle.

Notably, one of these commentators is the analyst behind the community-driven X account “All Things XRP,” who recently argued that the lawsuit did not just hinder XRP’s progress but also robbed it of necessary growth and reputation.

XRP Price Suffers Setback

For context, the SEC filed its lawsuit against Ripple in December 2020. In its claim, it alleged that the company’s sales of XRP constituted unregistered securities offerings. Expectedly, the charges quickly impacted the XRP price amid the market reaction.

Within days, XRP plummeted over 70%, plunging from $0.65 to $0.17 as major U.S. exchanges such as Coinbase and Kraken delisted the token and liquidity dried up. But according to All Things XRP, the true damage was not just the immediate price crash, but the prolonged suppression that followed.

From 2021 through 2023, XRP stagnated in a tight range between $0.30 and $0.50. This period coincided with one of the most explosive bull markets in crypto history, where assets like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana soared to new heights.

Years-Long Stagnation

On the other hand, XRP remained largely frozen. U.S. investors, wary of legal repercussions and limited by exchange restrictions, stayed away. As retail enthusiasm drove the broader market upward, XRP was on the sidelines, unable to benefit from the rally.

Importantly, there was a brief moment of optimism in July 2023 when Judge Analisa Torres ruled that XRP was not a security in and of itself. The market reacted swiftly, pushing the price from $0.42 to $0.9 overnight.

Yet the SEC’s decision to appeal the ruling reintroduced uncertainty. This halted any potential upward momentum. According to All Things XRP, this back-and-forth stifled growth, exhausted retail investors, and further dampened institutional interest.

When the SEC finally dropped the case in March 2025, XRP’s price saw a modest 10% jump to $2.49. While that might seem significant, it failed to spark any major rally. For many, the market had already moved on. Other projects had captured investor attention, and XRP’s return felt more like a muted relief than a long-awaited victory.

Further Impact of the SEC Lawsuit

The analyst contends that the real loss is actually in opportunity cost. While XRP’s technology is still sound, regulatory pressure from the lawsuit capped its potential gains. Notably, analysts believe XRP might have reached substantially higher valuations without the lawsuit.

Furthermore, All Things XRP suggested that the case eroded trust. Essentially, financial institutions hesitated, partnerships stalled, and XRP’s brand took a reputational hit that may take years to repair.

Regarding innovation, Ripple’s ambitions in cross-border payments were put on pause. Further, the legal battle consumed time and resources that the firm could have used to scale its technology and market presence. Meanwhile, competitors surged ahead, claiming market share and spotlight.

Update on the Case

Notably, the case is now on the cusp of resolution amid the new SEC leadership. Ripple agreed to a $50 million fine, down from the original $125 million, for past institutional sales. The company could receive a refund of the remaining $75 million will be refunded, but this is pending final court and SEC approval.

Also, both Ripple and the SEC have paused their respective appeals, and in April, a federal appellate court agreed to hold the matter in abeyance. With Trump-era leadership bringing in a more crypto-friendly SEC under Chair Paul Atkins, enforcement actions have eased. This signals an imminent close to the case.
