Holding 1,000 XRP Might Be Life-Changing, According to an Analyst—Here’s How and When

0

A prominent market pundit has suggested that investors holding just 1,000 XRP could be setting themselves up for life-changing gains in the future.

This recent disclosure came from Edoardo Farina, a vocal XRP community figure and founder of the trading group Alpha Lions Academy. Notably, this represents one of several commentaries the market pundit has made around the importance of holding a substantial amount of XRP.

XRP’s Price Struggles

Specifically, these commentaries aim to pinpoint the opportunity that comes with XRP’s current price struggles. For context, the altcoin’s price action has reflected the broader crypto market bearishness. Particularly, XRP collapsed 29% in February 2025, marking its largest monthly decline since June 2021.

The bearish atmosphere spilled into March despite the asset managing to trim the losses to just 2.56%. Now, April has introduced another spell, with XRP down 0.26% this month. If XRP secures another monthly decline in April, this would represent its first three consecutive monthly red candles since the 2022 near market.

XRP Investors Buying the Dip

However, while investor sentiment has dropped drastically, pundits like Edoardo Farina believe this period presents an opportunity to procure XRP at lower prices. This has been the motivation behind his recent comments, with the latest one suggesting the decision to procure just 1,000 XRP could be life-changing in years to come.

Interestingly, Farina is not the only person who sees this downtrend as a “buy-the-dip” opportunity. Data from Santiment confirms that most XRP investors, including retail and whale, have been accumulating more XRP tokens since the downtrend began in February.

For context, addresses with 1,000 to 100,000 XRP and those holding between 1 million to 100 million XRP had a cumulative balance of 21.23 billion XRP tokens as of Feb. 1 when the downturn began. Remarkably, these wallets now hold 22.86 billion XRP, indicating that they have procured 1.63 billion tokens worth over $3.2 billion within this period.

How Do 1,000 XRP Tokens Become Life-changing?

One of the major factors contributing to this accumulation culture is the optimism around a recovery for XRP. Notably, the asset’s resilience above the $2 mark, with a meager 0.3% gain this year despite the downturn, has bolstered confidence in its rebound potential.

However, before XRP could present the life-changing gains suggested by Farina, its price might need to more than “recover.” For context, if XRP rises to the $27 ultimate target championed by market analyst EGRAG, a 1,000 XRP investment, currently worth $2,000, would yield $27,000. While a $25,000 gain is noteworthy, it’s far from life-changing.

Notably, a rally to $100, which multiple pundits have suggested could take years or might not materialize at all, might be the necessary event to bring substantial returns. At the $100 mark, the 1,000 XRP tokens would be worth $100,000. However, analyst Versan Aljarrah believes $100 is not enough for XRP, suggesting a possible upsurge to six figures.

Nonetheless, even the $100 target remains elusive at press time, as it would require a monumental 4,900% gain from the current $2.08 price. Analysts at market resource Changelly expect XRP to reach this $100 price between 2034 and 2040. Interestingly, Telegaon also believes a rally to $100 could materialize between 2035 and 2040.

Oregon Sues Coinbase, Claims XRP Is a Security; XRP Army Reacts

0

Oregon’s Department of Justice is suing the leading crypto exchange Coinbase, alleging that it offers 31 cryptocurrencies, including XRP, as securities.

The Oregon Justice Department, led by Attorney General Dan Rayfield, filed the lawsuit recently, claiming that the San Francisco-based exchange violated its state financial laws by selling unregistered securities to its residents.

XRP Named as Securities

Days after Oregon filed the complaint, pro-crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett suggested that the state is questioning the securities status of 31 cryptocurrencies. According to Terrett, the Oregon AG labeled these tokens, including XRP and UNI, as crypto securities.

In a recent statement, Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal referred to the case as a ‘copycat’ of the SEC’s enforcement action against the exchange in 2023, which was dismissed with prejudice.

He noted that Oregon is not charting a new course but ‘picking up where former SEC Chair Gary Gensler left off.’

Oregon Names 30 More Tokens as Securities

Notably, Oregon alleges more tokens to be securities than the SEC identified in its enforcement action against the exchange in 2023. As previously reported, the SEC labeled 13 cryptocurrencies listed on Coinbase as securities, including MATIC, SOL, and ADA.

Meanwhile, the federal securities regulator did not mention XRP as a security because it was not listed on Coinbase at the time. Coinbase delisted XRP in early 2021 after the SEC charged Ripple with violating federal laws by selling the coin to U.S. residents.

However, the exchange re-listed XRP in July 2023, shortly after a New York federal court ruled that XRP in itself is not a security. In that ruling, the court affirmed that Ripple’s programmatic sales on digital exchanges were not investment contracts.

The Oregon lawsuit comes at a time when the crypto industry has been securing legal victories at the federal level. This is evident in the SEC’s agreement to drop its case against crypto-related entities, including Ripple and Coinbase.

The Oregon AG lawsuit suggests that the crypto industry is not free from regulatory hurdles at the state level.

XRP Proponents Remain Unshaken

Meanwhile, several XRP proponents have reacted to the news, most of whom feel unperturbed by XRP’s classification in Coinbase’s latest lawsuit.

Popular community figure Ashley Prosper emphasized that XRP is the only crypto asset with multiple layers of protection against the shifting views of different authorities.

Prosper emphasized that a court order already finds XRP as a non-security, referring to Judge Analisa Torres’ declaration that XRP is not a security. The commentator also argues that the ongoing settlement negotiations between Ripple and the SEC shield XRP.

In addition, the community figure highlighted XRP’s involvement in the U.S. crypto reserve initiative as another factor protecting the coin from shifts in regulatory policies.

Lastly, Prosper highlighted the upcoming congressional legislation for the crypto industry as another factor protecting XRP. The comment suggests that XRP enjoys multi-layer protection more than its peers.

XRP Price is Not the Truth but the Trap, Pundit Explains Why XRP is Down Despite Bullish Fundamentals

0

An XRP community commentator has attempted to make sense of XRP’s downward pressure despite massive bullish developments.

For context, in the face of multiple bullish developments surrounding XRP, the price has failed to react favorably. Particularly, XRP is still reflecting the direction of the broader crypto market. The market has come under bearish pressure due to macroeconomic uncertainties.

Amid this discouraging price action, a prominent community commentator presented an explanation. The pseudonymous pundit known as 589Bull argues that XRP’s downtrend is not an accident. Rather, he suggests it is part of a strategy to shake out early investors before full institutional adoption emerges.

“Price is Not the Truth but the Trap”

According to 589Bull, the issue is that retail investors focus on price when the price itself is misleading. He insists price is the trap, not the truth.

To explain this, the pundit suggested that XRP’s current market performance does not accurately reflect its value, not because it lacks fundamental strength, but because the true developments are happening behind the scenes and are not meant to benefit the public just yet.

He argued that while investors focus on red candles, the real foundation is setting up, as institutions introduce futures, assign international ISINs, welcome banks to distributed ledger technology (DLT) corridors, and quietly draft ETF filings.

He paints this move as a “game of perception,” where fear dominates public sentiment just as the real financial infrastructure is setting up. In his words, the narrative that XRP is failing is the “lie,” while the truth is that XRP is securing a large spot in the next-generation global financial system.

However, according to him, the on-ramp is not for everyday holders. As such, 589Bull warns that those who chase hype or flinch at volatility may miss out. Essentially, he suggested that the real trick is surviving the manipulation long enough to benefit when the truth emerges.

XRP Price Struggles at $2

Notably, this commentary comes as XRP battles through a concerning stretch of market performance. Despite what many describe as one of the most bullish environments in history, the token has failed to mount a meaningful recovery.

XRP collapsed nearly 32% across February and March 2025 and is already down 0.24% in April with just a week left. If the downtrend holds, it will mark XRP’s first three-month losing streak since the 2022 crypto bear market.

Currently trading at $2.08, XRP has held above the critical $2 support level, but many expected far more, given the flurry of positive developments surrounding the ecosystem.

Bullish XRP Fundamentals

Among those developments is the growing institutional interest in XRP-focused financial products. Asset management giants such as Franklin Templeton, Bitwise, and Canary Capital have made progress toward launching spot XRP ETFs in the United States.

Furthermore, the market recently welcomed a leveraged XRP ETF, which delivered a strong performance on its debut. This is a testament to growing confidence in XRP as an institutional-grade asset.

Meanwhile, Ripple has also made headlines with major corporate moves. Most notably, the firm recently acquired prime brokerage company Hidden Road in a $1.3 billion deal.

Additionally, the lawsuit between Ripple and the SEC appears to be approaching a conclusion. Specifically, both parties have agreed to drop their appeals.

Taken together, these events show growing maturity and adoption. However, they have not translated into upward momentum for XRP’s price. Nonetheless, for community commentators like 589Bull, that disconnect is not a flaw in the market; it’s the design.

Trader Says XRP “Screaming Higher,” Predicts Run to $14 on Bullish Fib Extension

0

Papa, a pseudonymous analyst, has insisted that XRP is currently “screaming higher,” predicting a rally to double digits on bullish Fibonacci extensions.

The market analyst’s commentary comes amid XRP’s current price struggles, as the altcoin grapples with bearish pressure around the $2 mark. For instance, after rising to a two-week peak of $2.24 on April 13, XRP faced intense selloffs that pushed its price back to a $2.04 low on Friday, April 18.

During this period, the asset dropped by more than 3%, observing four consecutive intraday losses for the first time since late March. However, despite the bearish situation, “Papa,” as he is often called, believes the XRP price is “screaming higher.”

XRP’s Historical Uptrend

In his latest analysis, the trader called attention to historical patterns that suggest the current position might be setting XRP up for a massive uptrend. Notably, he identified a symmetrical triangle pattern on a 44-day chart from the 2017/2018 bull run. For context, this was XRP’s most explosive period.

Specifically, after the asset engineered an initial 7,875% rally from $0.0055 in March 2017 to a peak of $0.3988 in May of that year, it witnessed a roadblock. This resulted in a pullback and subsequent consolidation, triggering the formation of a symmetrical triangle that persisted until December 2017.

Interestingly, following a breakout from this pattern, XRP witnessed another impressive run, soaring 1,762% from a low of $0.1777 to its all-time high of $3.31 in January 2018. This rally saw XRP reach multiple Fibonacci extension price targets, aligning with the 1.272, 1.618, 2.618, and 4.618 levels.

XRP 44D Chart Papa

XRP Looking to Replicate the 2017 Run

Now, following XRP’s impressive rally in the ongoing market cycle, Papa believes this pattern might be repeating. For context, XRP soared from $0.50 in November 2024 to a seven-year high of $3.39 in January 2025, marking a massive 578% uptick.

However, as observed in 2017, XRP has also witnessed a roadblock to the uptrend. The asset has collapsed 39% from the $3.39 peak, consolidating for three months. Nonetheless, instead of the symmetrical triangle from 2017, XRP is now witnessing a parallel channel amid the ongoing consolidation.

Still, Papa expects a breakout soon. He believes this breakout would replicate the 2017 run, potentially allowing XRP to claim the Fibonacci 1.272, 1.618, 2.618, and 4.618 extension levels. Notably, the parallel channel’s upper trendline aligns with the $3 mark, which represents XRP’s pivotal resistance level.

A breach above the price level would mark a breakout from the parallel channel, setting the stage for the much-needed upsurge. Papa’s price projections present a $14 mark for the ultimate Fibonacci 4.618 extension. Interestingly, this represents another 576% rise from the current level.

This is not the first time a market analyst has eyed the $14 price for XRP. Last November, Steph, a notable market commentator, urged investors to amass XRP before the price reaches $14. XRP traded for $0.5039 at the time. Meanwhile, in April 2024, JD identified $14 as XRP’s minimal target.

Digital Ascension Group MD Reveals Why He is Investing in XRP Only

0

Jake Claver, Managing Director of Digital Ascension Group and staunch XRP proponent, recently revealed why he is placing his investment focus solely on XRP.

In a post on X, the executive shared an infographic that indicates the reason behind his decision to only invest in XRP. Interestingly, his disclosure pointed to XRP’s prospective utility in acting as a bridge currency for high-value payments.

Specifically, the infographic, titled “Interledger: Enabling Interoperability Across Platforms 2020-2025,” presents XRP as the prospective central bridge connecting traditional financial networks to modern platforms.

Could XRP Serve as a Central Bridge?

It divides its layout into two main sections: the left side lists traditional financial networks such as Japan’s Zengin, the EU’s SEPA, ACH and Fedwire from the U.S., the UK’s FPS, and the High-Value Payment System (HVPS) from China.

Meanwhile, on the right, the infographic includes major platforms like Bloomberg and Fidelity in banking, SAP in treasury, and tech giants such as Apple, IBM, Tesla, PayPal, Amazon, Microsoft, and Google.

Interestingly, the protocols from the left connect to the major platforms on the right through a central hub labeled “XRP Ledger,” suggesting that XRP could facilitate transactions between them.

XRP Bridge Potential
XRP Bridge Potential

This depiction essentially claims that the Interledger Protocol, with XRP at its core, could create a unified payment system bridging traditional finance and modern digital platforms.

For instance, a payment initiated through Zengin in Japan could theoretically settle on Amazon’s platform in the US with XRP as the bridge, bypassing the delays and fees of conventional systems like SWIFT.

The infographic presents XRP as the important intermediary. With this, the asset would enable interoperability across borders and industries. This narrative is one of the major factors behind Claver’s investment focus on XRP as a major asset in global finance.

Concerns Raised

However, the graphic’s portrayal of XRP’s role within the Interledger Protocol has raised concerns. For one, the Interledger Protocol, developed to facilitate payments across different ledgers, operates as a blockchain-agnostic system, meaning it does not require XRP or any specific crypto asset.

The protocol uses connectors to route payments, allowing flexibility in currency conversions without mandating XRP as a bridge. While Ripple co-developed ILP in 2015, with then CTO Stefan Thomas contributing massively, the protocol has since evolved independently.

Further, Critics argue that the graphic exaggerates XRP’s role, with some labeling it as speculative. Major financial networks like SEPA or Fedwire have not publicly adopted the Interledger Protocol, and tech giants like Apple and Amazon show no signs of integrating XRP for payments.

Notably, XRP’s adoption has also been hampered by Ripple’s ongoing SEC lawsuit, initiated in 2020, which alleges the company sold XRP as an unregistered security. This legal battle has deterred institutional adoption, casting doubt on the feasibility of the infographic’s vision.

Claver Maintains Optimism in XRP

Despite these concerns, Claver has maintained certainty around his XRP investment. Notably, his strategy may hinge on Ripple’s proven technology and potential for growth if regulatory hurdles completely clear, especially considering that the SEC lawsuit is already near an end.

Also, Claver’s Digital Ascension Group, a family office that partners with Ripple’s Standard Custody & Trust, might be another factor determining his decision to only invest in XRP.

Responding to his disclosure, Michael Graziano, a crypto proponent, stressed that investors should regard this as Claver’s personal investment choice and not try to apply it to their strategy. Graziano indicated that he and investors are free to do things differently. In response, Claver agreed to this statement.

Strategy Adds 6,556 Bitcoin to Its Portfolio in Latest $555.8M Purchase

0

Strategy (formerly known as MicroStrategy) has added 6,556 Bitcoin (BTC) to its balance sheet, spending a total of $555.8 million for the new acquisition.

The purchase was funded by proceeds from the company’s two at-the-market (ATM) stock offerings. According to a regulatory filing, Strategy sold 1.76 million shares of its Class A common stock and over 91,000 shares of a preferred stock series, STRK, between April 14 and April 20. The common stock sale raised $547.7 million, while the preferred shares generated $7.8 million.

Total Bitcoin Holdings Now at 538,200 BTC

With this latest purchase, Strategy’s total Bitcoin holdings have increased to 538,200 BTC, acquired at an average price of $67,766 per coin.

The firm’s move to bolster its Bitcoin position follows a pattern of frequent buys since Michael Saylor, the company’s executive chairman, led the charge for significant Bitcoin purchases. The most recent purchase happened on April 14, when the firm bought 3,459 BTC, resuming its purchases after a 7-day stay.

Bitcoin Performance and Strategy’s Gains

Notably, the company’s Bitcoin holdings have yielded notable returns. For the quarter-to-date (QTD), Bitcoin has generated a 1% yield. Since the beginning of the year, Bitcoin has produced a 12.1% yield for Strategy, contributing to a significant $455 million gain from 5,209 BTC accumulated during the current quarter.

Furthermore, Bitcoin’s gains for the year-to-date (YTD) have reached $4.72 billion, a positive reflection of the asset’s performance so far in 2025.

Criticism Surrounds Strategy’s Bitcoin Strategy

Despite the positive performance, the company’s ongoing Bitcoin acquisition strategy has drawn criticism. Well-known crypto critic Peter Schiff warned that Strategy’s continued Bitcoin purchases could eventually lead to losses.

Schiff noted that as the company acquires more Bitcoin, its average purchase cost increases, especially if Bitcoin’s price declines. He pointed out that the company still has a “paper gain” of around 25% on its holdings but suggested that a further drop in Bitcoin’s value could result in the company’s average BTC purchase cost exceeding the market price.

If this occurs, Strategy could hold its Bitcoin position at a loss, as the market value of its holdings would be lower than the amount paid.

Banking Titans Standard Chartered and Deutsche Bank Explore Expanding Bitcoin and Crypto Operations to the US

0

Easing regulations for Bitcoin and crypto are attracting prominent banking giants back to the United States, with Standard Chartered and Deutsche Bank planning to make a foray.

A report from the Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the issue, has confirmed the recent development. According to the disclosure, the recent national adoption of the nascent industry is changing the earlier stance of prominent financial institutions.

For perspective, US President Donald Trump positioned himself as the “Bitcoin President,” promising to make America the crypto capital of the world. Since assuming power, he has taken those promises seriously, fostering the recent regulatory calm, which is now rekindling the interest of major banking giants.

Banks Double Down on Crypto in the US

Notably, the anonymous sources shared that London-headquartered Standard Chartered and Deutsche Bank, Germany’s largest bank, are planning a major move. Specifically, they plan to expand their crypto operation in the United States.

While the report did not explicitly detail how, when, or to what extent the plan has advanced, their interest in the US crypto market marks a shift from the early view. For perspective, regulations tightened in the United States, scaring off banks following unfortunate events like the FTX implosion and the Terra crash.

However, Trump stepped in and has been a change agent for the industry. With bills on crypto and stablecoin regulations, as well as a national strategic crypto reserve proposal gaining momentum, the barriers between banks and the digital asset industry are thinning out.

Crypto Firms Eye Banking Charters

Furthermore, crypto firms are also looking to explore the traditional financial market to the fullest, in what is a dense commingling. Per the familiar sources, digital asset firms like Circle, which is eyeing an IPO, and BitGo plan to apply for a banking charter. Coinbase and Paxos are also targeting a similar move.

Recall that Anchorage Digital is the only US-based crypto exchange with a banking charter. The firm received its license in 2021, following rigorous regulatory proceedings and incurring millions of dollars in costs.

While it has stricter regulations, the firm enjoys a full license to operate like a traditional bank. It recently became a custodian alongside Coinbase for the BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT).

Meanwhile, the recent developments highlight the changing regulatory scene in the United States as the industry continues to wear a new look following the 2022 crypto crash. Notably, at the heart of this transition are Trump and other crypto pioneers.

Bitcoin Open Interest Jumps by $3.1B to $30B: Here’s What This Means for the Ongoing Rebound

Bitcoin open interest rises by $3.1B in 24 hours, signaling increased leverage as the crypto asset surges to intra-month highs.

Bitcoin (BTC) has observed a notable price surge in recent hours, climbing to over $87,600 after hovering around $84,500 for the past day. This marks the highest price since April 2 and signals a return of upward momentum in the market.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin stands at $87,681, reflecting a 3.63% increase in the last 24 hours and a 3.65% gain over the past seven days. The surge coincides with a significant uptick in open interest and derivatives market activity.

Sharp Increase in Bitcoin Open Interest

According to data from CryptoQuant, Bitcoin’s recent price rally has been significantly supported by a rise in open interest, which surged by $3.1 billion over the last 24 hours. This sharp increase indicates that traders are leveraging their positions in anticipation of continued price growth.

Bitcoin Open Interest on All Exchanges
Bitcoin Open Interest on All Exchanges

Notably, Bitcoin’s open interest had seen a decline earlier this month, dropping from approximately $29.2 billion to around $24 billion between March 22 and April 10.

However, after April 10, open interest began to climb steadily, surpassing $30.4 billion by April 21. This marked the highest OI figure for Bitcoin since early February. The current rise in open interest aligns with Bitcoin’s price movement, showing a clear positive correlation between the two.

Open interest reflects the total value of outstanding contracts, and its surge suggests that traders are betting on continued price movement. A rise in Bitcoin open interest indicates that new capital is entering the market amid an increase in trading activity. However, it does not always signify bullish tendencies.

Notably, if OI rises while price drops, this could be bearish. However, now that Bitcoin open interest has spiked during a price uptrend, this trend is generally seen as bullish, as it signifies that more market participants are confident in Bitcoin’s ongoing recovery and are positioning themselves for potential upside.

Explosive Growth in Options Market

Also note Bitcoin’s options market has seen a massive surge in trading activity, with options volume increasing by 346.73%, reaching $3.57 billion. This rise in options volume suggests that traders are either hedging their positions or speculating on increased price volatility.

In addition, the options open interest has grown by 3.84%, now standing at $32.35 billion. This growth highlights that more traders are holding positions in Bitcoin options, indicating an overall bullish outlook for the asset.

The long/short ratio for the 24-hour period stands at 1.0644, meaning that slightly more accounts are holding long positions than short ones.

Long-Term Bitcoin Accumulation

Amid the market fluctuations, Bitcoin’s whale holdings have shown steady growth. Data from CryptoQuant reveals that whale holdings increased from 3.3865 million BTC on January 1 to 3.5085 million BTC by April 19, reflecting a continuous upward trend.

While the 30-day peak hit 3.53 million BTC, the percentage rise in these whales’ holdings in the last 30 days is 0.62%. This consistent accumulation by large holders supports the view of a potential long-term bull run.

Fundstrat’s Tom Lee Suggests Bitcoin Will Catch Up to Gold Now that Deleveraging Is Over

Tom Lee, managing partner at Fundstrat, expects Bitcoin to catch up to gold now that institutional deleveraging is complete.

Notably, Bitcoin has experienced a challenging year so far amid persistent macroeconomic headwinds and global uncertainty. However, Fundstrat’s Tom Lee is optimistic that the leading crypto will recover and even outpace gold, now that institutional deleveraging appears to be over.

Bitcoin Struggles While Gold Shines

Specifically, in recent months, Bitcoin has lagged behind gold. The asset saw a steep decline of 17.66% in February 2025, marking its worst monthly drop since the Terra ecosystem collapse in June 2022. This February crash preceded a further 2% dip in March. As of April 2025, Bitcoin is down 5.29% year-to-date.

Geopolitical developments have taken a toll on investor sentiment. Earlier in the year, retaliatory tariff announcements by President Donald Trump triggered a global stock market sell-off, which spilled over into the crypto market.

Although Trump later paused these tariffs for 90 days, the ongoing U.S.-China trade tensions continue to fuel market uncertainty and prompt Bitcoin selloffs.

Meanwhile, gold has been cementing its reputation as a safe haven. The precious metal has posted gains for three consecutive months this year and has surged by 9.39% in April alone. Year-to-date, gold has risen by a remarkable 30.28%, in stark contrast to Bitcoin’s 5.29% decline.

Tom Lee Believes Bitcoin Could Catch up

On CNBC’s Squawk Box, host Joe Kernen and Fundstrat Managing Partner Tom Lee discussed Bitcoin’s performance relative to gold.

Kernen highlighted a previous conversation, with Anthony Pompliano, in which Pompliano suggested that Bitcoin typically trails gold by a few months but eventually surges past it with stronger momentum 100 days later.

Lee acknowledged that Pompliano may have made that point and agreed with the broader idea that Bitcoin tends to rally after gold’s uptrend.

According to Lee, the sluggish start to the year for Bitcoin was due in large part to deleveraging by institutional investors, who were forced to liquidate positions, especially over weekends. Now that this wave of deleveraging has seemingly passed, Lee believes Bitcoin is positioned to close the gap with gold.

Lee also stressed Bitcoin’s long-term strength as a non-dollar asset, pointing to its previous high of over $110,000. He asserted that Bitcoin has ample room to grow and could catch up with gold as investor confidence returns.

Kernen raised concerns about ongoing market volatility and asked Lee whether recent peaks in the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX), particularly the spike seen on April 7th, signaled the peak of investor fear.

Lee responded that although uncertainty might persist due to economic risks and Fed policy debates, the worst of the fear appears to have passed. He added that a structural bottom might already be in place.

BTC Already Showing Signs of Recovery

At present, Bitcoin is showing signs of a rebound. The asset has climbed 6.54% so far in April and is hovering around the $88,000 mark, trading at $87,921. Analysts such as Cryptollica project further upside, predicting Bitcoin could hit a new all-time high near $155,000 following a breakout from a wedge formation.

Notably, while Bitcoin has underperformed gold in 2025 so far, it still boasts superior gains over a longer period. Since January 2024, Bitcoin has surged by 115%, significantly outperforming gold’s 57% rise during the same timeframe.

Should Bitcoin match gold’s 30% year-to-date gain, its price would soar to approximately $121,000, well above its current level. Given this context, Tom Lee’s bullish stance remains intact.

Last December, he correctly forecasted that Bitcoin would surpass $100,000 by the end of 2024. Last month, he reiterated expectations that the asset could exceed $150,000 this year.

Singapore Exchange Enters Crypto Derivatives Market with Bitcoin Futures Offering

The Singapore Exchange (SGX) has revealed plans to introduce Bitcoin perpetual futures before the end of 2025, targeting institutional and professional investors.

This marks SGX’s strategic move to expand its product suite amid growing global interest in crypto assets. It aligns with broader trends of traditional financial institutions integrating crypto products.

Notably, unlike traditional futures contracts, perpetual futures do not have an expiration date. This allows investors to trade continuously based on the direction of Bitcoin prices.

Bolstering Institutional Confidence in Bitcoin

Industry leaders believe SGX’s entry into crypto derivatives is a significant step in framing Bitcoin as a legitimate asset.

Darius Sit, founder of the crypto-asset trading firm QCP, noted that SGX’s Bitcoin product would serve as a strong signal to institutional investors. Specifically, he claimed it helps position Bitcoin not as a speculative asset but as one worthy of consideration as an investment-grade instrument.

Ong Chengyi, APAC head of policy at Chainalysis, echoed this sentiment. Chengyi described the move as a step toward firmly establishing Bitcoin as a legitimate investment asset suitable for inclusion in professional portfolios.

Shi Le, managing director at crypto trading firm Auros, pointed out that perpetual futures are popular in the crypto trading arena. However, SGX’s product introduces a regulated alternative. Given its familiar and accessible structure, this could appeal more to participants from traditional finance.

Moreover, the product could be a hedging tool for institutions, similar to how ETFs brought crypto into mainstream investing.

Furthermore, Chengyi highlighted that SGX’s Bitcoin perpetual futures offer a transparent avenue for institutional investors to enter the crypto market while mitigating counterparty risks.

According to Robert Krugman, Broadridge’s executive, the launch could also prompt exchanges worldwide to consider offering comparable products.

Notably, SGX will prioritize risk management and market integrity as it introduces this new product. Etelka Bogardi of Norton Rose Fulbright emphasized that the exchange must follow stringent procedures under Singapore’s Securities and Futures Act. These procedures include tools like leverage limits, margin requirements, standardized contracts, and clearing controls.

Looking Ahead

With major global financial institutions like Standard Chartered and Fidelity already active in crypto custody, SGX’s entry into perpetual futures may only be the beginning. The launch could catalyze further institutional interest and set the stage for broader crypto product innovation in regulated markets.

As QCP’s Darius Sit put it: “Hopefully, this is the first Bitcoin product of many to come.”
