Bitcoin Hash Ribbon Flashes Buy Signal, Which Previously Led to Two New ATHs

0

Ted, a well-known crypto key opinion leader (KOL), has identified a buy signal that could potentially drive Bitcoin to unprecedented prices.

The prominent market analyst shared that the Bitcoin Hash Ribbon has flashed a buy signal on the weekly timeframe. According to him, the largest cryptocurrency by market cap could surge to uncharted territory on account of the bullish indicator.

Notably, the assertion comes when Bitcoin has struggled to sustain an upward trajectory. The asset’s price action has been inconsistent in the past weeks, as sideways macroeconomic trends have clamped down on all bullish attempts by the premier asset.

Buy Signal Flashes on Bitcoin

Ted noted that the Bitcoin Hash Ribbon indicator has had a bullish impact on the asset’s price at every instance of emergence. For the uninitiated, the on-chain metric tracks the period of miner capitulation and recovery. When revenue from mining cannot cover miners’ operating costs, the capitulation phase, characterized by Bitcoin sell-offs to sustain mining activities, kicks in.

The recovery phase emerges at a converse scenario, shown in the movement of the 30-day and 60-day moving averages. As Ted identified, a buying opportunity occurs when the former crosses the latter, signaling that Bitcoin’s price might recover.

A New Bitcoin All-Time High?

Interestingly, the analyst pointed out that the hash ribbon buy signal has historically spurred appreciable upsides in Bitcoin’s price. An accompanying chart shows that the pioneering cryptocurrency saw new all-time highs the last two times the signal flashed on the weekly timeframe.

Buy Signal on Bitcoin Hash Ribbon Indicator

For perspective, the Bitcoin Hash Ribbon flashed a buy signal on the week of June 19, 2023, contributing to the asset’s surge past 2021’s high of $69,000 to $73,000 in March 2024. Another crossover occurred in the latter days of July 2024, with the asset rallying from that point to January 20’s all-time high of $109,312.

Interestingly, Ted identified that a similar signal flashed in mid-March, raising optimism about a price rebound. He stressed that a repeat of Bitcoin’s historical reaction to the moving averages crossover would ensure a 31% surge to its current all-time high and further parabolic expansion from there.

Nonetheless, Bitcoin must conquer the resistance level at $94,280 for this move. Citing the MVRV Extreme Deviation Pricing Band, market expert Ali Marinez identified the price mark and a new all-time high of $112,380 as two critical supply zones for Bitcoin.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin trades at $83,835, up less than 1% in the past 24 hours.

Solana Unlocks Worth $200M Expected on April 4: Here’s What it Means

0

On April 4, 2025, a massive unlocking event will be taking place for Solana (SOL), releasing over $200 million worth of tokens.

According to data from Akharm Intelligence, this will mark the biggest single-day unlock of staked SOL until 2028. The event involved four accounts that had initially staked their SOL in April 2021, and at current market prices, these accounts have experienced a 5.5x return on their investments.

The timing of this unlock is drawing attention, with many concerned about the potential for increased selling pressure on Solana, currently the sixth-largest crypto by market capitalization. The tokens released could flood the market, adding to an already tense atmosphere.

Breakdown of the Unlocks

The unlocking event will be substantial, with notable amounts of SOL being released into circulation. For instance, one account will see 991,079 SOL unlocked, worth around $27.32 million.

Meanwhile, another account will release 297,323 SOL tokens, valued at $7.43 million. Additionally, 74,330 SOL tokens worth $1.97 million, and 34,687 SOL tokens valued at $936,720, will be unlocked as well.

Solana Inflation

Recall, in January, artchick.eth, an anonymous crypto commentator, outlined the unlock schedule for Solana until 2028. At the time, Solana’s token inflation rate stood at 4.715%.

Over the course of the three months—from January to February—13.6 million SOL worth $1.5 billion, had to enter the circulating supply.

Still, at the time, the unlocks were anticipated to have negative consequences for the price of Solana, especially since much of this SOL was initially acquired at a lower price of $64 per token in the FTX auctions.

Key Solana Price Levels to Watch

Amid the ongoing token unlocks, technical analysts are still monitoring Solana’s price movements. According to Crypto Patel, SOL is currently trading at $114.35, sitting near a critical Fibonacci support zone between $100 and $115. Historically, this range has proven to be a strong level of support, providing an opportunity for early accumulation.

If this support fails to hold, the next significant level of support is in the $50 to $72 range, marked as Support 2. This range has triggered substantial rallies in the past, including a massive 2,100% increase in 2020-2021.

Analysts are now watching closely to see if SOL can maintain its position above $100, as a breakout above $186 could signal the beginning of another bullish phase.

XRP Decouples From NVIDIA as XRP Rebounds 6% to $2.10 While NVDA Dips 8%

The financial markets are witnessing an interesting divergence.

XRP, one of the leading crypto assets, posted a notable gain today, while NVIDIA (NVDA), the powerhouse of AI and chip technology, is nursing a 7.82% drop.

The contrasting moves have sparked discussions on whether crypto assets and traditional stocks are decoupling. Dom Kwok, a former Goldman Sachs banking analyst, highlighted this trend in a tweet. He referred to XRP and NVDA as two of the biggest “bellwethers” in their respective markets.

His observation suggests that while the broader stock market, particularly tech-related equities, faced downward pressure, crypto assets like XRP demonstrated resilience and upward momentum following the latest bloodbath.

Notably, XRP’s recent price movement came after yesterday’s bearish storm, which saw prices dip under $2 to $1.96. However, at press time, XRP has rebounded by 6.12%, nearing $2.10. Likewise, Bitcoin, which dropped to $81K, has recovered to above $83K at press time.

The Thursday crash in the crypto market followed the U.S. government’s recent tariff implementations, which sent the U.S. stock market tumbling.

Notably, Apple’s AAPL plummeted by 9.25% on Thursday, closing at $203.19. Amazon and Meta Platforms also saw significant drops, with shares falling 8.89%, while Nvidia’s stock plummeted by 7.8%, closing at $101.80.

While the crypto market mirrored this performance initially, a recovery is already underway, with XRP leading the charge.

Why is XRP Rising?

The turnaround in XRP may be attributed to a massive “buy-the-dip” campaign for investors who are looking to capitalize on XRP’s low prices. In addition, growing optimism surrounding a recent announcement by Coinbase may be contributing to this rebound.

Yesterday, Coinbase announced plans to list XRP futures contracts on April 21, 2025, after submitting a filing to the U.S. CFTC for approval. This move comes amid favorable legal developments for XRP, particularly following the SEC’s decision to drop its appeal in the Ripple case.

Coinbase will become the second U.S.-regulated platform to offer XRP futures after Bitnomial’s recent launch. The decision reflects a more positive regulatory atmosphere, partly due to new SEC leadership.

Coinbase’s XRP futures will be available on Coinbase Derivatives, offering traders a regulated, capital-efficient way to gain exposure to XRP. This follows a previous 2023 launch of XRP perpetual futures for non-U.S. customers.

SUI Surpasses Tron, Now 3rd Largest Blockchain by Daily Active Addresses

0

SUI has surpassed TRON to become the third-largest blockchain by daily active addresses, rising to 2.46 million users.

The broader crypto market continues to trend downward, and Sui (SUI) is among the tokens most impacted. As of today, the price of SUI stands at $2.17, reflecting a 9.73% drop in the last 24 hours.

Over the past week, the token has recorded a 19.97% decline. However, while price indicators show a downturn, network activity on the Sui blockchain presents a different narrative.

Sui Overtakes Tron in Active Address Rankings

According to recent blockchain activity data, Sui has risen to become the third-largest network by active addresses, surpassing Tron. Daily active addresses on Sui surged from 1.38 million to 2.46 million, marking an increase of 1.08 million users.

This shift has pushed Tron down to fourth place after its activity slightly decreased to 2.45 million from 2.77 million.

Meanwhile, Solana continues to lead in terms of daily active addresses, although it has experienced a significant decline. Solana’s active users dropped by 789,000, moving from 5.2 million to 4.4 million.

In the same period, BNB Chain rose from sixth to fifth place, climbing from 1.04 million to 1.49 million active addresses. Base, however, fell from fifth to seventh in the rankings as it lost traction.

Declining Metrics on Tron Network

Notably, address data from IntoTheBlock confirms the decreasing user activity on Tron. New addresses declined by 3.06%, indicating a slowdown in onboarding. Additionally, active addresses fell by 6.86%, which may suggest short-term network stabilization after recent growth.

At the same time, zero-balance addresses on Tron increased by 16.42%, reflecting high wallet churn.

Sui Still Hitting Milestones

Further data from Crypto Banter reveals that Sui surpassed 8 billion total transactions between May 2023 and January 2025. The platform also recorded over 2.9 billion transaction blocks during this period. This milestone ranked Sui among the most transacted networks globally in terms of volume.

In addition, Suiscan reports that total user accounts on Sui have exceeded 123 million as of early April 2025. Over 4.1 million new accounts joined the network this month, with 100,296,679 active. This reflects a high activity ratio of over 81%.

The chart provided by Suiscan shows a parabolic growth trend beginning in late 2024 and continuing into the first quarter of 2025.

Here is How Much $1,000 in Shiba Inu Would Have Turned Into If Invested When Vitalik Burned 410T SHIB

0

If an investor had procured $1,000 in Shiba Inu when Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin burned 410 trillion SHIB, his ROI would not have been very great.

Market commentators have often touted Shiba Inu as one of the best crypto assets to have invested in at its early stages. This is largely due to its promising return on investment (ROI) since launch, which transformed several investors into millionaires overnight.

Notably, data from CoinMarketCap indicates that Shiba Inu has an all-time ROI of 912,577%. For perspective, such an ROI would have transformed a $1,000 investment into $9.1 million. However, this favorable ROI depends on the timing of the investment, as not all earlier investments in Shiba Inu are currently favorable.

Vitalik Buterin’s Shiba Inu Burn

Here at The Crypto Basic, we recently assessed how much an investor would be sitting on had the person invested in Shiba Inu when Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin carried out his historic 410 trillion SHIB burn. Notably, this was one of the most significant moments in Shiba Inu history, with a Coinbase director suggesting it was the largest on-chain transaction in history.

For context, Buterin, who received half of the Shiba Inu supply from Shiba Inu founder Ryoshi following the token’s launch, transferred 410 trillion tokens currently worth nearly $5 billion to the dead address on May 16, 2021. According to him, he did not desire that much “power.” Buterin donated the leftover tokens to charities.

The burn made headlines within crypto circles and attracted investors to the Shiba Inu project at the time. However, our assessment confirms that if an investor had committed money to Shiba Inu shortly after this burn, they would not be witnessing the massive profit that earlier adopters saw.

Returns of $1,000 Invested in SHIB

Particularly, at the time of the burn, Shiba Inu changed hands around the $0.000016 mark despite a correction from an earlier upsurge. If a market participant had invested $1,000 into the asset at the time, the individual would have procured 62.5 million SHIB tokens.

Following massive price fluctuations over the past four years, Shiba Inu’s price has dropped since May 2021. With the current price of $0.00001219, the 62.5 million tokens would now be worth $761. This translates to a loss of around $239 or an ROI of -23.8%.

These negative returns are because Shiba Inu had already witnessed its historic run before the Vitalik Buterin burn. For context, the asset surged 50,513,413% from $0.000000000074 on Jan. 1, 2021, to a high of $0.00003738 on May 10, 2021, before facing a pullback. This run transformed $1,000 to $505 million in five months.

Notably, this evaluation confirms a disclosure from the team behind the community-driven burn platform Shibburn. They clarified in September 2023 that Shiba Inu’s 2020 to 2021 run was due to demand and not primarily Vitalik Buterin’s burn.

Deaton Recounts Coinbase’s XRP Journey: From Legal Clarity to Self-Certify Futures

0

Following Coinbase’s filing to self-certify XRP futures, Attorney John Deaton gave a recap highlighting the exchange’s engagement with XRP.

On April 3, Coinbase announced that its derivatives arm, Coinbase Derivatives, filed to launch self-certify XRP futures in the U.S.

The move, according to Coinbase, aims to give investors a more regulated and capital-efficient way to gain exposure to XRP, which it referred to as “one of the world’s most liquid assets.”

Coinbase Engagement with XRP

Consequently, Deaton recounted Coinbase’s engagement with XRP and how the exchange correctly analyzed that the coin was not a security.

XRP is Not a Security

According to Deaton, Coinbase’s team of experienced securities lawyers analyzed XRP using its internal digital asset framework and concluded that XRP was not a security.

In January 2019, the exchange informed the SEC of its findings to ensure its analysis corresponded with the commission’s view of XRP. This confirmation was necessary at the time because the exchange planned to list XRP.

Interestingly, the SEC did not dispute Coinbase’s findings because its internal enforcement lawyers had previously conducted a similar analysis. The commission published an XRP Howey Analysis Memo on June 13, 2018, but it never concluded that XRP was a security.

This publication was made a day before former SEC official William Hinman gave the controversial speech declaring Ethereum was no longer a security.

Coinbase Lists and Delists XRP

A month after Coinbase met with the SEC, the exchange listed XRP on February 26, 2019. Notably, it promoted XRP’s use, alongside USDC, for free international money transfers.

Less than two years later, the SEC sued Ripple and two of its executives, claiming XRP was a security. In the lawsuit, the commission alleged that all XRP transactions were securities, irrespective of how they were acquired or sold.

Following this stringent action, Coinbase and other U.S. exchanges delisted XRP to avoid potential sanctions from the SEC.

In defense, a group of over 75,000 XRP holders joined the case as amici curiae. Three thousand investors from this group submitted affidavits claiming they did not know about Ripple when they first purchased XRP.

According to Deaton, the ruling Judge, Analisa Torres, cited the affidavits and agreed with Ripple and Coinbase that XRP was not a security in itself. Shortly after the judge issued this decision in July 2023, Coinbase and other exchanges relisted XRP.

Self-Certify XRP Futures

Less than two years later, Coinbase has announced another support for XRP. This time, it plans to launch self-certify futures for the coin. If the CFTC approves the filing, contracts for the XRP futures will debut on Coinbase on April 21, 2025.

The move comes over a week after Ripple agreed to drop its cross-appeal, aligning with the SEC’s decision to drop the multi-year lawsuit.

Fidelity Solana ETF One Step Closer to Approval as US SEC Acknowledges Filing

0

The chances of a Fidelity Solana ETF have received a boost as the US SEC acknowledges receipt of the asset manager’s rule change application.

On Thursday, the US Securities and Exchange Commission acknowledged the filing for a spot Fidelity Solana ETF, pushing the approval process one step closer. The prominent asset manager became the latest to seek a regulatory nod to manage the Solana-based product after the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) filed for a rule change request with the SEC last week.

One Step Closer to Fidelity Solana ETF Launch

The quest for a Solana ETF has continued to see new candidates, with Fidelity joining the queue recently. The Cboe BZX Exchange submitted a 19b-4 application with the US SEC to list and trade the Fidelity Solana ETF on March 25, its second filing for the product.

Recall that the Chicago-based stock exchange filed a rule-change request for the Franklin Templeton Solana spot ETF three weeks ago. With Fidelity’s application, about seven prominent asset managers are now vying for approval for the Solana product.

Meanwhile, following the SEC’s acknowledgement of the Fidelity Solana ETF filing, the next possible step will be to publish it in the Federal Register. Notably, Fidelity has already registered the commodity-based fund with the CSC Delaware Trust Company under the name the Fidelity Solana Trust.

Upon publication in the Federal Register, the SEC will open a 21-day window for comments on the Fidelity Solana product. Furthermore, the regulator will either approve, deny, or postpone decision-making on the application within 45 and 90 days of publication.

Solana Continues Downward Spiral

Meanwhile, the development failed to boost Solana’s price, which continues to show weakness. The asset has corrected nearly 2% in the last 24 hours as bearishness from Donald Trump’s tariff hike continues to impact the crypto market.

SOL’s downward spiral is more profound in the weekly and monthly timeframes, retracting 7% and 6.4%, respectively. At the time of writing, the seventh-largest cryptocurrency by market cap trades at $116.61.

Here are Returns If You Invested $5,000 and $10,000 in Dogecoin When Elon Musk First Tweeted About DOGE

0

Investments of $5,000 and $10,000 in Dogecoin when Elon Musk first tweeted about it would have yielded staggering gains at the current market price.

Dogecoin, the largest meme coin by market cap, has had a long-standing bromance with Tesla founder Elon Musk. The world’s richest man has not hidden his admiration of the Shiba Inu mascot-themed meme coin, taking to X (formerly Twitter) several times to promote the token.

For context, Musk called himself the “Doge Father” in September at a public appearance, a testament to his love for the token. Recall that in April 2023, he changed X’s logo to the Doge meme, with the asset’s price surging 30%.

While this has aggrieved a faction of the Dogecoin community, Musk’s impact has generally been bullish for the prominent meme coin. Let’s look at Dogecoin’s price when the X owner first tweeted about it and how much a $5,000 and $10,000 investment would be worth at the current market price.

Dogecoin’s Price When Musk First Tweeted

The billionaire made his first Dogecoin comment on April 2, 2019, exactly six years from yesterday. In the viral tweet, Musk stated that DOGE might be his favorite cryptocurrency, noting the asset was “pretty cool.”

Notably. DOGE opened at $0.002552 on the day. Meanwhile, the comment contributed to a 16% rally that day, which extended to over 40% in the next three days.

Dogecoin continued its parabolic expansion from there, rallying a jaw-dropping 29,852% to its current all-time high of $0.7488 in May 2021. Meanwhile, the meme coin has retraced 78% from the high to its market price of $0.1641 today.

Returns on a $5,000 and $10,000 Investment When Musk First Tweeted

Despite the recent market downturn, Dogecoin is still up 6,330% from its price when Musk first adopted the meme coin. Such an impressive percentage rally would turn meager investments at the time to staggering gains in today’s market.

If a user bought $5,000 worth of the token at $0.002552, it would culminate in 1,960,784 DOGE. Meanwhile, the stash would have increased to $321,765 at its current market price, an incredible 6335% appreciation.

Moreover, a $10,000 investment at Dogecoin’s price of $0.002552 on April 2, 2019, would give a higher asset share and weightier returns. At the time, $10,000 would buy you 3,918,495 DOGE, worth $643,025 in today’s market.

Former Australian Stock Exchange CEO Dismisses $10,000 XRP Price Predictions as Unrealistic

The XRP community is pushing back against unrealistic price predictions that often circulate on social media.

Influential voices within the space are calling for more responsible discussions. They urge XRP influencers to move away from exaggerated forecasts and focus on real developments within the ecosystem.

A notable figure in the community, the individual behind the “All Things XRP” community-driven action, recently took to X to voice concerns over the rampant spread of speculative price targets. In a post addressed to XRP influencers, they emphasized the need for fact-based insights rather than clickbait-driven hype.

“We all want XRP to moon. However, saying XRP will rise to $100 or $10,000 overnight does not help anyone. They are all hype without truth, and community members are starting to see through it,” the post read. “People are frustrated, looking for leadership, not clickbait hype.”

Industry Experts Weigh In

Alex Caraco, a former CEO of an Australian stock market company, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the need for realistic expectations. He noted that exaggerated price predictions create false hope and mislead new investors. In his words:

“It’s sad to see incoming XRP buyers sold the story of $1,000 to $10,000 and that it’s going to happen tomorrow or next week.”

Furthermore, Caraco pointed out that the crypto market operates differently from traditional stock markets, making precise predictions difficult. He also acknowledged the potential of stablecoins and other well-supported crypto assets in the digital asset space.

A Call for Constructive Engagement

Panos Mekras, co-founder of Anodos Finance, also joined the discussion. He urged influencers and the broader community to focus on real developments within the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and decentralized finance (DeFi).

“It’s time for the community to stop focusing on meaningless predictions and nonsense riddles. The reality and actual developments are far more exciting and real,” Mekras said.

Notably, the call for responsible dialogue highlights a growing sentiment within the XRP community. While optimism is welcome, it must be in reality. Besides exaggerated price speculation, the community also struggles with internal misinformation.

Crypto Eri, a prominent community member, previously urged the XRP Army to tackle internal misinformation with the same effort they use to counter FUD from critics. One common misconception she warned against is the false claim of a connection between XRP and ISO 20022.

Eri has emphasized that XRP has no direct link to ISO 20022, a global messaging standard for financial institutions. Ripple’s early compliance with the standard does not mean XRP is tied to it. She believes clearing up such misconceptions could strengthen the XRP community and its credibility.

Coinbase to Finally Launch XRP Futures: Here’s the Listing Date

Coinbase has revealed its intention to list XRP futures contracts through its derivatives arm amid greater legal clarity for the asset.

The exchange announced on April 3 that it had submitted a filing to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to self-certify XRP futures. If approved, the contract will go live on April 21, 2025, nearly three weeks later.

Coinbase to List XRP Futures Amid Favorable Regulatory Atmosphere

With this move, Coinbase has now become the second U.S.-regulated platform to list XRP futures, following closely behind Bitnomial, which announced the launch of the first U.S. XRP futures two weeks ago.

These developments come amid a favorable change in the regulatory and institutional atmosphere surrounding XRP, which has long been a victim of legal uncertainties due to its involvement in the SEC’s case against Ripple.

Interestingly, the Coinbase announcement comes two weeks after Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse confirmed that the SEC has agreed to withdraw its appeal in the legal battle with the payments firm. The decision could mark the final chapter in the years-long lawsuit, removing any remaining legal baggage from XRP.

Notably, the change in regulatory tone is largely due to the new leadership in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Acting Chair Mark Uyeda has adopted a more constructive stance toward crypto, opting to drop several ongoing cases against industry players, including Coinbase.

This friendlier posture has set the groundwork for an increase in institutional involvement in the crypto derivatives market and greater confidence in U.S.-based digital asset products.

Coinbase’s Previous Dealings with XRP Futures

Coinbase’s upcoming XRP futures contracts seek to provide traders with a regulated and capital-efficient vehicle for gaining exposure to one of the most liquid cryptocurrencies, the company says.

The contracts will secure listing via Coinbase Derivatives, which has previously rolled out futures for assets like Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Litecoin (LTC).

Although Coinbase previously listed XRP perpetual futures on its international exchange in 2023, this offering was for its non-U.S. customers. At that time, the firm launched XRP perpetual futures alongside contracts for other major tokens like Solana (SOL), Dogecoin (DOGE), and Cardano (ADA), with up to 10x leverage.

However, XRP was absent from the regulated futures filed with the U.S. CFTC last year, a move that triggered frustration among XRP proponents. The latest announcement, which comes on the back of better regulatory clarity, now offers this product to customers in the U.S.

Essentially, in its bid to self-certify the product, Coinbase is leveraging its status as a designated contract market (DCM) to fast-track the listing, assuming no objections from the CFTC during the review window. The XRP announcement comes three weeks after Coinbase revealed a similar product for ADA.
