Are Bonk And Pepe’s Runs Over? Is This Meme The Next Big Coin?

0

Meme coins were the underdog tokens in 2024 but have surprised everyone in cryptoverse with their super growth. From soaring valuations to inspiring the US President to dabble with meme coins, meme-based assets remained in vogue for all the right reasons.

The year started with top altcoins like Pepe Coin ($PEPE) and Bonk ($BONK) exploding. As the performance fizzled out, a new name rose to shine, ChowWow ($CHOW).

Powered by the Solana blockchain, ChowWow is a play-to-earn crypto project where people have multiple opportunities to earn. Combining the benefits of staking and GameFi, ChowWow has cracked the code of market success and is one of 2025’s recommended presales.

Here’s why ChowWow is a good crypto to buy

ChowWow is not an ordinary meme coin as it offers users varied options to tap into the DeFi world. Inspired by a Chinese dog breed called Chow Chow, the project is a community-focused initiative.

The crypto project’s native token $CHOW paves the way for a myriad of opportunities, including competitions, airdrops, and staking opportunities. You can now get hold of the $CHOW token on presale. Crypto pundits expect tokens to sell fast as the 10-stage presale proceeds.

With ChowWow, crypto users get to play exciting games where they purchase in-game assets with the $CHOW token. Players can use these assets to improve their chances of winning and bagging attractive prizes. The native token can be staked in liquidity pools. Owners of the staked assets get the accruing interest every month.

What’s drawing a lot of users to $CHOW is the token’s deflationary model. By burning excess tokens and buybacks, the ChowWow team will keep the token supply limited. The mechanism would keep the token value stable and its returns safe from market volatility.

Considered one of the best altcoins of 2025, ChowWow is headed to an eventful innings with its ambitious roadmap. The ChowWow team has already decided on how it plans to use the 888,777,000 supply of $CHOW tokens.

The team will be setting aside half of the tokens for presale stages. The rest will be divided among uses like team rewards, staking, marketing, partnerships, maintaining liquidity pools, and airdrops.

Rising Whale interest boosts Pepe Coin’s chances

Based on a frog-themed character, Pepe Coin is among the highest-selling meme tokens of 2024. The $PEPE coin’s continued rise has changed the minds of many skeptics about the importance of meme coins.

In a recent development, $PEPE saw a surge in whale accumulation, which boosted its popularity considerably. According to a report, a whale purchased 200.4 billion $PEPE tokens valued at $3.72 million on Binance. Another investor withdrew $PEPE coins worth $5 million from the exchange. Experts suggest that development could push Pepe Coin’s price upward in the coming months.

Bonk marks Lunar New Year with 2-trillion burn proposal

The Bonk Coin is among experts’ picks for altcoins to watch out for this year. The Solana-backed meme coin is a dog-themed token and has been creating a lot of buzz recently. The $BONK token is used for transactional uses within the coin’s ecosystem.

The token is compatible with 11 blockchains, including Ethereum, Polygon, and Arbitrum. The meme coin has wooed many users with its interactive Telegram trading bot called BonkBot. The bot uplifts your trading experience with more speed and user-friendly features.

Bonk was recently in the news after it announced that it would be burning 2.025 trillion Bonk tokens to mark the Lunar New Year.

Conclusion

Despite being an emerging crypto, ChowWow has been giving tough competition to established names Bonk and Pepe. The two meme coins had dominated the market for quite some time until users lost interest.

According to analysts, there’s little chance of ChowWow repeating history because of its utility-oriented model. The token sports a pioneering security mechanism that undergoes regular audits.

Backed by Solana’s unique consensus algorithm, the $CHOW token gains an edge over popular coins by processing transactions faster and at more affordable prices.

Brandt Says It is Unlikely Bitcoin Hits $200K at the End of This Decade: Here’s Why

0

Bitcoin has been gaining momentum, but experienced trader Peter Brandt remains skeptical about its prospects.

His recent analysis suggested that Bitcoin might not surpass $200,000 before the end of this decade. He highlighted technical barriers that could prevent Bitcoin from reaching this high valuation, but stressed that the analysis was just a thought, not a trade, confirming his uncertainty.

At the time of Brandt’s report, Bitcoin trades for $96,789, observing a modest 0.17% gain on the day but a 2.85% decline over the past week.

Despite the current recovery effort, Brandt argues that Bitcoin must sustain a strong upward push to overcome crucial resistance levels. Notably, without this momentum, projections of Bitcoin exceeding $200K might be overly optimistic.

Bitcoin in a Critical Condition

The market veteran’s chart spotlighted Bitcoin’s price behavior dating back to 2012. Data from the chart shows that since then, Bitcoin has followed a red long-term ascending channel, featuring two key trendlines that act as resistance and support.

Additionally, the asset has experienced multiple parabolic surges, which have always ended in sharp corrections once the momentum fades and before the next cycle begins.

Bitcoin 1W Chart Peter Brandt
Bitcoin 1W Chart | Peter Brandt

Currently, Bitcoin seems to be forming another parabolic rise similar to past cycles. However, the chart suggests caution as Bitcoin approaches the upper channel resistance, which historically precedes downturns.

Bitcoin is currently facing resistance near a key level. The 8-week moving average stands at $97,633, a threshold Bitcoin has struggled to clear. If it continues to trade below this level, bearish pressure could mount.

In addition, the Average True Range (ATR) is recorded at 8,988, signifying elevated volatility. The Average Directional Index (ADX) is 40.75, confirming that Bitcoin is in a strong trend, although it does not specify the direction of the move.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin’s 20-period volume sum stands at 245,663, a figure that appears lower compared to previous breakout phases. For context, a significant surge in trading volume would be necessary to sustain a long-term uptrend.

Why Brandt Believes Bitcoin May Struggle to Hit $200K

Brandt believes that unless Bitcoin breaks through the upper boundary of its parabolic trajectory, it will likely remain below $200K by 2030.

He suggests that Bitcoin needs to achieve significant acceleration beyond resistance levels to sustain its rise. Without this, historical trends indicate the likelihood of extended consolidation or even downward movements.

Bitcoin is currently close to a critical resistance level between $100K and $120K. If it cannot breach this range, a reversal could push prices lower.

Meanwhile, on the downside, a potent support zone exists between $60K and $70K, which could act as a buffer if a correction occurs. In a more extreme scenario, Bitcoin could revisit the lower boundary of its long-term channel, ranging from $40K to $50K.

How Cardano Users Can Now Bridge Assets from ADA to Solana

0

It is now possible for people to move ADA, the native token of the Cardano network, to Solana.

On Thursday, February 13, Wanchain, the emerging crypto interoperability solution, unveiled that it has unlocked a new token route between Cardano and Solana. For now, however, this token route only allows the transfer of ADA from the Cardano network to the Solana network.

“ADA is now live on Solana via the Wanchain Bridge! The lines between these two top 10 blockchain players are fading – it’s time to swap jerseys!” Wanchain’s announcement read.

The interoperability solution first teased the move on Tuesday, February 11. It acknowledged that there was no love lost between the two networks, which it likened to football rivals.

“Solana users say that nobody uses Cardano. Cardano users say that Solana is only for memecoins. How about finally putting this rivalry aside and swapping jerseys?” Wanchain’s teaser read.

With the rollout of the feature, all users have to do is move ADA to the Solana network: launch the Wanchain bridge, connect their Cardano wallet, select the source chain as Cardano and source asset as ADA, then select the destination chain as Solana with ADA as the asset once again. The process cost 2.29 ADA, or about $1.85 at the time of writing.

Meanwhile, the project has also teased an upcoming feature to allow users to bridge SOL to Cardano, but it is unclear when this will launch.

Still, Wanchain has teased the launch of a new product on February 19, asserting that it will be “a massive upgrade” of one of its existing solutions.

Avenir Group Reports $599 Million Stake in BlackRock Bitcoin ETF

0

Prominent investment company Avenir has significantly increased its Bitcoin-related holdings, according to its latest 13F filing.

The firm reported owning $599 million worth of shares in BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) as of December 31. This reflects a substantial increase from the 614,195 shares it held in September, which were then valued at $22 million.

Additionally, Avenir disclosed a $4.2 million position in the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC), holding 52,544 shares.

The 13F filing details institutional investment holdings, outlining asset positions, their CUSIP numbers, and market valuations. Avenir’s reported increase in Bitcoin ETF exposure aligns with IBIT’s rapid growth, which has outpaced other exchange-traded funds in historical performance.

BlackRock Bitcoin ETF’s Record Growth

BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF has set a new record in the exchange-traded fund industry. Data indicate that IBIT has reached $56 billion in net assets under management.

Notably, the fund attained the $50 billion milestone in just 228 days, surpassing the previous fastest record of 1,329 days by a significant margin. Analysts highlight IBIT’s rapid ascent as a notable development in the crypto investment landscape, reflecting heightened institutional interest in Bitcoin exposure.

The strong performance of BlackRock’s Bitcoin spot product follows a broader trend of growing investor interest in regulated cryptocurrency investment vehicles. Avenir’s increased holdings underscore the firm’s strategic positioning within this market as Bitcoin ETFs continue gaining traction among institutional investors. Other btc news now.

Avenir Group’s Growth Initiatives

The increase in Avenir’s Bitcoin ETF investments coincides with key industry developments led by Avenir CRYPTO, the firm’s digital asset division. The company recently organized its flagship Future Boundless event in Singapore, bringing together top industry leaders.

Co-hosted with Deribit, Paradigm, and LTP, the event addressed market challenges such as trading inefficiencies and liquidity fragmentation in the crypto sector.

This gathering follows the launch of Avenir CRYPTO’s $500 million Crypto Partnership Program, announced in September. The initiative aims to support quantitative trading teams and enhance financial innovation.

Notably, the program allocates 200 million USDT, 3,000 Bitcoin, and 50,000 Ethereum to strengthen partnerships with top-performing firms worldwide.

Michael Saylor and Nayib Bukele Discuss Expanding Bitcoin Adoption in El Salvador

0

Michael Saylor, the co-founder of MicroStrategy, has met with El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele to discuss strategies for accelerating Bitcoin adoption both within the country and on a global scale.

Saylor shared details of their conversation in a tweet today. He highlighted that El Salvador has opportunities to further benefit from Bitcoin’s growth.

El Salvador became the first nation to make Bitcoin legal tender in 2021, a move that has since influenced other countries to consider similar strategies. The government has actively integrated Bitcoin into its economy, launching initiatives such as Bitcoin bonds and the development of Bitcoin City.

Saylor’s visit underscores the growing institutional interest in El Salvador’s Bitcoin experiment. MicroStrategy itself holds over 478,740 BTC, and Saylor has been a vocal proponent of Bitcoin as a long-term store of value.

Saylor’s Advocacy and El Salvador’s Bitcoin Example

Notably, in recent times, Saylor has taken his Bitcoin advocacy to major corporations like Microsoft and Amazon. While some of his efforts have been ignored, he remains determined to continue promoting the Bitcoin narrative.

His meeting with Bukele signals potential partnerships or new initiatives to integrate Bitcoin into the nation’s economy further.

Currently, El Salvador holds 6,077 Bitcoin, worth approximately $600 million. The country has remained committed to purchasing one Bitcoin every day since Bukele’s announcement in November 2022.

With Bitcoin experiencing renewed momentum in global markets, El Salvador’s continued commitment to adoption is setting the stage for further institutional involvement.

Recently, a European lawmaker called on European leaders to take a page from El Salvador’s playbook and adopt the Bitcoin strategy, which has proven promising. Indeed, countries like the U.S. are already making efforts to officially recognize Bitcoin as a reserve asset.

Crypto Community Reacts

Meanwhile, Saylor’s meeting with El Salvador’s president has sparked bullish sentiment within the crypto community. Some have humorously suggested that Saylor might advise Nayib Bukele to take all the IMF money and invest it in Bitcoin.

“Take all that IMF money and buy Bitcoin. Then take all your time to figure out how to borrow more money to buy more Bitcoin,” they joked—this in light of Saylor’s unwavering conviction in the cryptocurrency.

Telegram Crypto Wallet Announces Zero-Fee USDT Purchase Promo and Valentine’s Day Special Giveaway

0

The team behind Telegram’s built-in crypto wallet, Wallet, has launched new campaigns to drive the adoption of stablecoins, particularly Tether (USDT).

In an X post today, the team announced a zero-fee offer for the purchase of USDT via Telegram’s built-in crypto wallet. This offer is only available to users who purchase USDT using their bank cards.

The team described the initiative as the first of its kind, suggesting that no blockchain wallet offers zero-fee options for USDT purchases.

For context, Telegram added USDT support in March 2023, allowing users to send, receive, and buy the stablecoin using the Wallet bot.

Availability

Popular Chinese blockchain reporter Colin Wu disclosed that the offering is currently available in more than 60 countries across Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. Wu indicated that the move is part of efforts to reduce costs and drive stablecoin adoption in these regions.

It could also attract more people into the crypto space, as newcomers can purchase the world’s largest stablecoin without incurring any cost.

In addition, Wu noted that the initiative stems from a partnership between popular payment infrastructure Mercuryo and The Open Platform (TOP).

Wallet Launches 2 Valentine Giveaway Campaigns

Meanwhile, Telegram Wallet unveiled two special giveaway campaigns to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Round-Up Balance

The first event will see Telegram Wallet round-up users’ balances when they buy specific amounts of USDT today. Notably, a purchase of 14.02 USDT will be rounded up to a balance of 15 USDT. Similarly, 140.2 USDT and 1,402 USDT purchases will be rounded to 150 USDT and 1,500 USDT, respectively.

The first and second offers are limited to the first 1,402 users each, while the last offer is only available to 14 users. Eligible users will receive their bonuses in their Wallets on February 16.

Valentine’s Day Special Package

Telegram Wallet announced another giveaway, specifically for the Valentine’s Day celebration. In this event, users are required to share a picture of their Valentine’s Day celebration in the comment section of the announcement using the caption #LoveIsWallet.

The deadline for this submission is February 16, 2025. Afterward, the team will randomly select 14 users who will receive 100 USDT each in their Telegram Wallets. Winners will be announced on February 21, 2025, with rewards credited shortly after.

Top British Bank Barclays Reports $131M Exposure to BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF

0

UK-based multinational bank Barclays becomes the latest to gain exposure to Bitcoin after disclosing it owns shares of BlackRock’s IBIT.

Sources of the incessant inflows into the BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) are becoming profound with the latest institutional filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This is because another high-caliber financial firm has disclosed exposure to the fund.

Barclays Bank revealed in its 13F filing with the US SEC yesterday that it bought Bitcoin through the IBIT exchange-traded fund (ETF). Per the report, the large bank acquired 2,473,064 shares of the BlackRock fund, worth $131 million at the period in review.

Notably, the report reviewed the quarterly financial report of corporate institutions for Q4 2024.

Another Institute Gains Bitcoin Exposure

Meanwhile, Barclays joins the growing list of institutional investors buying Bitcoin. Although the bank does not directly hold the pioneering cryptocurrency, the ETF product gives it an alternative means of riding the Bitcoin market tides.

Barclays acquired the IBIT ETF between October and December, when Bitcoin became a national issue in the United States. Pro-crypto President Donald Trump declared himself a Bitcoin president, and his November win sparked massive buy-ins into the asset directly and through traditional investment tools.

The FOMO did not just get to Barclays alone; other institutions also accrued massive amounts of Bitcoin ETFs. For perspective, investment bank Goldman Sachs disclosed in its latest 13F filing that its exposure to Bitcoin ETFs has grown twice as large as in the third quarter of 2024.

Furthermore, JP Morgan also followed a similar route, increasing its indirect exposure to the pioneering cryptocurrency. The banking giant disclosed holding ETFs worth nearly $1 million as of December 31.

More to Come?

Despite the growing acquisitions, market watchers have insisted there are more grounds to cover, specifically on the adoption front. BlackRock, for instance, recently stated that Bitcoin’s adoption is still early.

The Bitcoin ETFs achieved a burgeoning feat in year one, becoming one of the most successful ETF launches in history. However, BlackRock’s head of digital assets, Robert Mitchnick, insisted that several institutions and wealth managers are yet to come around.

If inflows persist or accelerate, as most speculate, Bitcoin will continue its blossoming price performance. The asset surged over 120% last year, spurred by growing demand and other strong macroeconomics, and analysts expect more in the final years of the asset’s cyclical phase.

Moreover, Standard Chartered and Bernstein analysts predict a Bitcoin surge to $200,000 by year-end, while VanEck forecasted a conservative $180,000. In the meantime, the asset trades at $97,241, up 2% in the past day.

Cardano Founder Says Dino Coins ADA, Ethereum, XRP Will Be the Big Winners This Cycle

0

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has asserted that ADA, Ethereum, and XRP, sometimes referred to as dinosaur coins, will likely be the big winners in this current market cycle.

Hoskinson expressed this view in a Gokhstein Media podcast episode released on Thursday, February 13, where he discussed the state of the market and his outlook.

Speaking to show host David Gokhstein, he asserted that the bull market was far from over.

To bolster his view, the Cardano founder cited the ease with which the crypto market recovered from capital flight and liquidations on February 3, a previous bearish spell which resulted from tariffs announced by President Donald Trump.

For context, over 700,000 leveraged traders faced liquidation on the day, wiping out positions worth over $2 billion, more than the FTX and LUNA collapses.

Hoskinson argued that while it had taken the crypto markets roughly two years to recover from the latter, it took just two days to recover from the tariff shock.

“These are hot markets!” He asserted.

The Cardano founder attributed the market’s resilience to increased institutional participation, calling it the market’s first institution-led cycle. With institutions at the helm, he noted that he expects a flight to stability and reliability, aka blue chips or dinosaur coins like ADA, ETH, and XRP.

Indeed, there may have already been signs as these assets, besides ETH, experienced triple-digit percentage gains during the market’s Q4 2024 run. They are also seeing significant interest from exchange-traded fund issuers.

Still, Hoskinson contended that Bitcoin would be the biggest winner. Envisioning a future where the asset is held in the portfolios of several countries, the Cardano founder tipped it to eventually be worth at least $250,000.

When asked when the market run would resume, he argued it was likely to kick off in the next six to 12 months, citing regulations, specifically anticipated stablecoin regulations, as the likely catalyst.

He hopes that these regulations will allow the U.S. to move on to issues like token taxonomy and custody.

In the short term, however, he cautioned that market volatility was likely to continue.

Why XRP is Pumping Hard Today: Two Key Reasons

0

After several days of sideways movement, XRP and the broader crypto market are seeing fresh bullish sentiment.

However, XRP’s price action has particularly stood out as it is currently the best gainer among the top-ranking crypto assets. Specifically, today, XRP has advanced from $2.42 to an intraday high of $2.76, marking a 14% gain so far.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin and Ethereum are up only by 1% within this timeframe, while Solana has seen a 4% gain. Others like BNB and Tron are even trading in the red.

XRP outperfoming Bitcoin and Ethereum
Chart showing XRP outperforms Bitcoin and Ethereum | CoinMarketCap

Notably, XRP is performing better today following ongoing community excitement about two key regulatory developments.

Two Key Reasons for XRP Pump

The main event has been the SEC’s recognition of the NYSE’s 19b-4 filing for Grayscale XRP ETF. The regulator published its notice of acknowledgment on Thursday, and excitement has swept the XRP community as they weigh in on its significance.

Notably, the acknowledgment marks a significant milestone for XRP, as it opens the path to potential approval. Although the recognition of the XRP ETF filing does not mean approval, it merely confirms that the regulator has signaled it would entertain the proposal.

Previously, the SEC had rejected altcoin ETF applications, as seen in the initial Solana case. Public commentators have attributed the latest turnaround to the new officials managing the SEC’s affairs. Specifically, the SEC, under Acting Chair Mark Uyeda, has shown more openness to crypto-based initiatives.

Meanwhile, the second factor contributing to XRP’s price performance follows ongoing speculations that the SEC could be preparing to drop the Ripple lawsuit, bringing an ultimate end to the four-year legal battle. The XRP community sees the SEC’s acknowledgment of the XRP ETF as further signs that a settlement is on the horizon.

Previously, Bloomberg analysts gave the XRP ETF approval a 65% chance of success, citing that the regulator did not view XRP as a commodity and referencing the Ripple lawsuit. At the time, the SEC had not yet acknowledged the XRP ETF filing.

However, with the latest developments, the analysts have acknowledged that the odds of approval have improved.

Ripple Partnership News

On the partnership front, earlier this week, Ripple disclosed a new collaboration with the largest currency exchanger in Portugal. Many view this as further adoption of XRP, which improves market sentiment around it.

Additionally, last week, Japan’s SBI Remit expanded its international remittance service in partnership with SBI Shinsei Bank. Notably, Japan’s SBI Remit uses XRP for cross-border payments in certain corridors.

Here is Potential Dogecoin Price If DOGE Overtakes Solana and Ethereum in Market Cap

0

In a major rally where Dogecoin surges by 167% and 792%, it could surpass Solana and Ethereum in market cap.

Dogecoin took the crypto market by storm in the last quarter of 2024 when it engineered a 3X price gain in just two weeks. During this time, the performance of Solana and Ethereum paled in comparison.

Although Dogecoin has lost some of these gains, it still boasts a more impressive one-year performance than Solana (SOL) and Ethereum (ETH). In particular, with a floor price of $0.2532, Dogecoin is up by 211%, while SOL is up by 90%. Meanwhile, Ethereum’s position is much worse, seeing only 6.5% yearly growth.

With Dogecoin showing strong potential to stage more impressive price performance than SOL and ETH, this article explores the potential market value of DOGE in the hypothetical scenario where it overtakes Solana and Ethereum in market cap.

Dogecoin Price if It Overtakes Solana

As of today, Dogecoin ranks as the eighth-largest crypto asset by market cap, with a valuation of $37 billion. Meanwhile, Solana is three steps ahead, ranking as the fifth-largest crypto with a cap of $98 billion.

For Dogecoin to approach the level of Solana, its market cap must expand nearly threefold. Specifically, if Dogecoin attains a $100 billion market cap, considering its supply of 148 billion tokens, this would equate to a unit price of $0.6757 for DOGE.

With Dogecoin trading at $0.2532, attaining $0.6757 demands growth of 167%. Essentially, should Dogecoin see a rally of 167% while Solana fails to see a similar growth rate, it risks losing its market ranking to DOGE.

Dogecoin Price if It Overtakes Ethereum

Meanwhile, for Dogecoin to approach the level of Ethereum, the altcoin king, the meme coin has a more formidable journey ahead. Presently, Ethereum boasts a market cap of $320 billion with a unit price of $2,655.

Considering Dogecoin’s $37 billion cap, it would need nearly 10X growth to attain Ethereum’s current level. In particular, to surpass Ethereum with a market cap of $330 billion, Dogecoin’s market cap must grow by 792%.

This magnitude of growth would elevate Dogecoin’s unit price to $2.23. Notably, numerous analysts have estimated this price range and beyond as realistic expectations for Dogecoin this year.

In other words, in the hypothetical scenario where Dogecoin stages a massive 800% price surge and Ethereum maintains a largely stable position, the meme coin could overtake Ethereum as the second-largest crypto.

Meanwhile, Dogecoin could face resistance in its race to this lofty position from other well-performing crypto assets like XRP.
