Cryptocurrency Values Went Up on the Release of FED Minutes

0

Many commodities in the financial market have taken a tumble since the FED’s aggressive approach to hike interest rates. The approach started in early January, coinciding with one of the largest crypto market tumbles. Massive hikes affect market stability, which has thrown tradable instruments like crypto off their bullish runs.

However, with a slowdown in inflation in the USA–reports confirm that the largest economy in the world has reached peak inflation. But what causes inflation? Production costs, demand and fiscal policy are the factors that influence inflation. Central Banks for well developed economies and the Fedetal Reserve monitor inflation. The FED is looking to take a different approach in December and early 2023. Going forward, the reserve bank is looking at slower-paced hikes, breaking from the norm that has dominated the better part of 2022 since January.

Indeed, the news of the FED’s slow down and its impact on the crypto markets is not new to investors who spare time for a trading quiz—the quizzes are imperative in understanding the markets now and in the future. Bitcoin, for instance, witnessed about a 1 percent jump after the FOMC meeting, the quizzes show that this is significant in predicting the direction of the crypto markets in the future.

The FOMC meeting

Keen traders, especially those dealing in futures contracts, will welcome the news that in December, the interest rate hikes will not go beyond 50 base points. The proposals in the meeting have set a target of about 25 basis points in early 2023 when the impact of rate hikes in 2022 will have taken a stronghold of the markets.

Noteworthy, while future hikes might not go beyond 50 basis points as reported from the FOMC meeting, the resolve in the November meeting was an uptick of about 75 basis points to take effect in November. An uptick might not be good news now, but the hope of lower hikes might provide confidence in crypto and other commodities, pushing people to take positions in anticipation.

As the markets welcome the good news, it will take some time before the terminal rates fall again. Avenues like Goldman Sachs have predicted a peak of about 5 percent in the first quarter of 2023, meaning that it might take several months for the terminal rates to fall back—a situation that might be a dampener amidst the excitement of the just concluded FOMC meeting.

Markets Reaction to FOMC Meeting

Bitcoin jumped up at least one percent before retreating to below $16500 immediately after the news. The same movement extended to most crypto coins. Ethereum, for example, touched the 3 percent mark when the news came out of a slowdown in interest hikes somewhere in December and into the New Year.

Doge, also highly impacted by the increasing base points over the year, witnessed a 4.8 percent jump, pushing it to $0.08 in many exchanges. The movement of Doge traced that of the broader financial market, which reacted positively once the minutes of the FOMC meeting came out. Stocks and most tradable commodities received a boost when the news came out.

Beyond the crypto markets, the decision by the FED reserve to slow down in its attempt to reduce inflation affected the dollar. The dollar witnessed some losses against the Yen and the Euro for the first time in many months. Since January, investors have seen the dollar as the best bet to protect their assets since crypto, and a majority of other assets had a high-risk profile.

The effects of choosing the dollar as the haven to protect assets strengthened it against many other currencies. The dollar’s reaction when the FED made the announcement indicates things to come in 2023—other assets might rebound from their 2022 poor runs. Many assets under the risky banner will start to breathe if the interest and the terminal rates move in favorable positions.

How the FED Impacts the Crypto Markets

Cryptocurrency’s magnificent run in the last quarter of 2021 stopped when signs of inflation started showing. The move by central banks to increase base points further affected crypto to fall to over 50 percent of their peak value in 2021. Ultimately, the decision by the FED to slow down in affecting high-interest rates is a welcome move that will further boost the crypto markets.

How To Choose A Wallet For Your Crypto Portfolio?

0

A good wallet is important for your crypto portfolio for several reasons. First, it helps to keep your coins safe and secure. Second, a good wallet will allow you to easily and quickly access your coins when you need them. Third, a good wallet can help to increase the value of your portfolio by providing additional features and functionality.

If you select a wallet that is not good enough for your crypto trading, it can cause a number of disadvantages. First of all, it will be about the wrong management of crypto assets. Additionally, if the wallet is not compatible with the exchanges you use, it could limit your ability to trade or exchange your cryptocurrencies. Finally, using a poor-quality wallet could result in sub-par performance when trading, which can cost you money in the long run.

As it is very important to have a good crypto wallet when you are involved in this industry, down below we will share some great tips and strategies which can be very helpful during the selection of a wallet.

Things You Have To Know About Crypto Wallets

The main where we should start talking about wallets for your crypto portfolio is wallet types. Start from the top-popular ones which are called software wallets.  It works as a program that needs installation and creating a personal account. After getting the account you can make transactions similar to the mobile banks or others. The guaranteed safety system is one of the notable features of the wallet.

Additionally, it can be considered a good choice if you have a tight budget as it is cheap to use. If you still hesitate in the selection you can think about paper wallets which are pretty secure to try too. Paper wallets are very cheap and easy to set up, but they offer no protection from hackers or thieves since anyone who gets ahold of your paper wallet will have access to all of your funds.

Many of those who are involved in crypto trading use custodial wallets too. Cryptocurrency custodial wallets are third-party services that provide investors with a safe and secure way to store their digital assets. These wallets allow investors to keep their private keys offline, which helps to protect them from hacking attacks and other security threats. This guide on custodial wallets will give you detailed information about how it works but before that here are some main benefits you should expect:

  • Increased Security: By keeping your private keys offline, you can help to ensure that your digital assets are more secure. Custodial wallets also usually have multiple layers of security, such as two-factor authentication and biometric verification.
  • Convenience: Using a custodial wallet can be more convenient than managing your own private keys. For example, if you forget your private key or lose it, the custodian can help you recover access to your account. Additionally, some custodians offer additional features such as customer support and transaction monitoring.
  • Peace of Mind: Many cryptocurrency investors worry about losing access to their accounts or having their funds stolen by hackers. Their safety system is quite strong which guarantees you the protection of your assets as well as other types of data, saved on the wallet system.

Selection Of Crypto Wallet

Here we will suggest some main features to consider if you want to select the most appropriate wallet for your crypto portfolio. The main selection should be between hot and cold wallets. Hot wallets are connected to the internet and therefore more vulnerable to hacks, while cold wallets are offline and considered much safer. Types of assets and their diversity are also very important. If you plan on storing only digital currencies, then a software or online wallet may suffice.

However, if you also want to store other types of assets such as tokens or coins, then to give you some advice, there are a few key things to look for when choosing a cryptocurrency wallet. There are hardware wallets that would be ideal.

As we outlined, there are some types of wallets: paper, software, and online. Each of them can give you comfortable conditions for your crypto portfolio so selecting between them is up to your individual needs and resources. Each of them is good to store your assets even if they have different security systems.

To conclude, for an easy way out paper wallets are the most basic type of wallet. They are simple to use and also safe to try. Software wallets are more secure than paper wallets because they require a password to access them. However, they can still be vulnerable to hacking if your computer is infected with malware or if someone steals your private keys (which is why it’s important to have a backup).

XRP Holders Slam Peter Brandt For ‘Shilling’ Solana

0

Brandt has come under fire from the XRP community for his perceived promotion of the Solana network.

Veteran trader Peter Brandt has faced criticism from XRP holders in recent tweets for his perceived promotion of Solana.

The comments came in response to Brandt tagging Solana in tweets related to his ChartWizardsNFT launch yesterday and today.

Notably, many are surprised that the perceived crypto skeptic and NFT critic has opted to launch an NFT collection.

“I personally equate much of the NFT market with Beanie Babies and Pet Rocks,” tweeted Brandt as recently as May.

However, in October, the trader began to express more nuanced views on the asset class, again, to the surprise of many.

“Some NFT Projects will make it,” Brandt tweeted on October 13.

Notably, ChartWizardsNFT will be a token to grant holders access to a community of traders and mentorship from Brandt and his peers. Brandt, explaining his motivation in a YouTube video, noted that it was not just a “JPEG project” but an innovative way to create a budding community of traders. Per the video, Brandt says he was approached with the idea as early as March 2021.

The NFT project will launch on the Solana network, which explains the Solana tagging.

However, XRP holders have not taken too kindly to the perceived promotion of Solana, especially since Brandt has been such a strong critic of XRP. Anders (@X_Anderson) implied that it made no sense for Brandt to rebuke XRP and promote Solana.

Justin Windheim (@jwinheim) expressed similar sentiments and described the veteran trader as a “JOKE.”

It bears mentioning that the crypto community generally perceives Brandt as a crypto skeptic, especially regarding altcoins. But in the past, Brandt has been significantly critical of XRP. In July, he called it a scam token.

Considering Solana’s frequent outages and heavy links to Sam Bankman-Fried, who is currently facing fraud charges, it is not hard to see why XRP holders are upset.

Binance Moves Over 1.89 Trillion Shiba Inu

0

Over 1.89 Trillion SHIB was moved by Binance.

In the past 24 hours, Binance moved hefty Shiba Inu tokens to various external wallets and another exchange. Etherscan data shows that Binance moved a whopping 1,896,625,902,168 (1.89T) Shiba Inu tokens over the past 24 hours.

Transactions Details

According to data from Etherscan, a pseudonymous, deep-pocketed Shiba Inu investor, dubbed “marsbrothers.eth”, scooped a whopping 336,292,667,662 (336.29B) SHIB tokens worth $3.07M. The tokens were moved from one of the Binance-associated wallets, tagged “Binance 15”, on December 13 at 09:38 AM (UTC). Despite the massive volume of SHIB tokens moved, the transaction incurred a fee of $1.09. At press time, “marsbrothers.eth” holds 336.29B SHIB.

Eighteen hours ago, an unnamed Ethereum whale moved $704.5K worth of Shiba Inu tokens. Etherscan data shows that the anonymous whale added a staggering 77,000,250,000 (77B) SHIB from a Binance-associated wallet named “Binance 14” on December 13 at 12:38 PM (UTC). Four minutes later, the same anonymous Ethereum whale moved its entire SHIB holdings to San Francisco-based exchange Coinbase. When writing this line, the unnamed whale now holds 0 SHIB.

SHIB Transfer Within Binance

Interestingly, Etherscan recorded a massive transfer of 1 trillion Shiba Inu tokens from one Binance-associated wallet to another. On December 13, at 01:48 PM, one of the Binance-associated wallets, named Binance 28, moved 1T SHIB worth $9.15M to another Binance-linked wallet, Binance 14. In the hours leading up to press time, Binance 14 holds a total of 440,953,653,304 (440.95B).

In a similar transaction, Etherscan data shows that a Binance-linked wallet, Binance 14, transferred 333,333,327,752 (333.33B) SHIB, worth $3M, to another address owned by the exchange, Binance 15. . As of press time, Binance 15 holds a total of 234.12B SHIB.

Binance Move 150B To Crypto.com

Earlier today, Binance transferred nearly 150B Shiba Inu tokens to a Cryptocom-associated address. The transaction saw Binance 14 move a whopping 149,999,656,754 (149.99B) SHIB to the Crypto.com wallet, dubbed Crypto.com 5.

Cryptocom 5 holds a massive 20,225,562,012,800 (20.2T) SHIB tokens when writing.

Whale Interests in SHIB Spikes Amid Shibarium Expectations

It bears mentioning that the transfer of vast SHIB tokens comes as SHIB enthusiasts continue to anticipate the rollout of Shibarium, an Ethereum scaling solution. The rollout of Shibarium is expected to usher Shiba Inu to a whole new level, thus placing the canine-themed crypto among the top-ranking crypto projects.

It is not surprising to see whale interest in Shiba Inu grow recently. The official launch of Shibarium will likely fuel the price of SHIB, which has suffered heavily from the adverse incidents that have wreaked havoc on crypto, including Terra and FTX collapse.

SHIB is changing hands at around $0.00000916, up 5.12% in the past 24 hours, according to Coingecko data.

XRP Price To Move Above $0.40 As Positive CPI Numbers End Losing Streak

0

Following the auspicious U.S. CPI report, the asset surged to a 10-day high of $0.3961 despite a deficiency of essential updates on the Ripple and SEC case.

After suffering a streak of three losses which sieved from the weekend to Monday, XRP found some new strength, staging a comeback that has taken it to higher grounds in the past two sessions. The asset reached some significant heights yesterday amid the favorable U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, touching a high of $0.3961, notwithstanding the dearth of significant updates on the lawsuit between Ripple and the U.S. SEC.

The CPI data for the year through November came in yesterday, suggesting that consumer prices rose at a pace less than what was expected by the financial authorities, with an increase of 7.1% as opposed to the expected estimate of 7.3%. This marked the fifth consecutive decline in the CPI rate since the peak of 9.1% in June.

As earlier reported, the markets rallied on the speculations that the United States central bank, the Federal Reserve, will tone down on its interest rate hikes which have so far been aggressively aimed at combating the growing inflation. The S&P 500 rose by 0.73%, with the Nasdaq Composite seeing a 1.01% increase. Pundits expect a 50-basis point hike in interest rates from the Fed today.

XRP, in particular, saw a surge of 2.21% yesterday, closing the day at a value of $0.39535. The increase of 2.21% was preceded by a 1.44% rise on Monday, making it the second consecutive gaining session for the asset. XRP’s recent movements have been prevalent despite a lack of significant updates on the lawsuit between Ripple and the SEC.

XRP’s Price Analysis

Meanwhile, the momentum on XRP’s rally has cooled, but the asset has still managed to hold up well above the $0.39 position despite hanging on a delicate position. The broader crypto markets remain green, seemingly unaffected by the recently-engineered Binance FUD, which is gradually fading as the exchange has proven it can handle mass withdrawals.

If XRP can hold up above $0.3902 until support arrives from promising reports, its next step would be a reclamation of the $0.40 zone, as the first crucial resistance sits at $0.4020. Following the past two gaining sessions, a third consecutive gain for today could make this a reality if the asset can eclipse the Tuesday high of $0.3961.

Upon reclaiming $0.40, if the relief rally remains sustained, XRP could test the second resistance level at $0.4087, making its way to capturing the $0.41 zone. Taking over the second resistance would more likely than not translate to a recapture of $0.41, as the third significant resistance sits at $0.4272.

Currently trading at a value of $0.3901 as of press time, XRP is on the verge of losing the $0.39 position, which would drop the asset to the first crucial support zone at $0.3835. In the event of sustained pressure from the bears, XRP could be battered to the second crucial support at $0.3717, supposing it dips below $0.3750. Its third support sits at $0.3532.

Ripple Settlement

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson recently propagated rumors of a Ripple settlement by December 15; these rumors were summarily proven false. U.S. Congress candidate January Walker noted that a Ripple settlement would be a loss for Web3 and the world. Additionally, former Congress candidate David Gokhshtein has stated that a Ripple win is preferable to a settlement, as the latter might not provide regulatory clarity for the industry. A major significant update on the case could provide even more support for XRP’s recent rally.

Crypto Community Does Not Want A Ripple Settlement – Here’s Why

0

While a settlement could bring clarity to XRP, it still leaves the rest of the crypto market in regulatory uncertainty.

The crypto community in recent days has made it clear that it does not want a Ripple settlement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in light of recent rumors of an imminent settlement.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson in a surprise ask me anything (AMA) session on December 10, let slip that he heard a rumor that Ripple will settle with the SEC on December 15. As reported by The Crypto Basic, FOX Business reporter Eleanor Terrett has debunked these rumors citing sources close to the case.

Nonetheless, it has not stopped online discussions about the potential impacts of a settlement in the case between Ripple and the SEC. Notably, there is a consistent theme in the push against a Ripple settlement. Crypto community members believe that in the case of a settlement, the SEC would feel no obligation to provide regulatory clarity for the rest of the industry, even if it provides clarity for XRP.

It bears mentioning that Ripple chief Brad Garlinghouse had previously asserted that Ripple would not settle unless the SEC provided clarity for XRP.

Hoskinson, who triggered the speculations in his AMA, asserted that it “could have catastrophic implications for the industry.”

Former UTAH congressional candidate January Walker in a tweet on December 12, said that a settlement would be “a loss for the whole world & WEB3.” According to the pro-crypto politician, it could set a bad precedent for how world governments treat crypto as she called for “right legislation.”

Gokhstein media founder David Gokhstein asserted that settlement was the worst possible outcome. According to Gokhstein, the SEC is unlikely to provide regulatory clarity for the rest of the industry. “We need Ripple to win this case and not settle,” tweeted Gokhstein.

Some in the XRP community believe it is selfish of the crypto industry to use Ripple as a battering ram to achieve its goal of clear crypto regulations in the US, especially as they feel they previously received little support.

Shiba Inu Developments

In a recent development, as reported by The Crypto Basic, the leading Japanese crypto exchange, OKCoin Japan, confirmed that it will make SHIB available for trading purposes on the platform in February 2023.

Additionally, John Richmond, the famous Italy-based clothing brand and the official IRL partner of Shiba Inu, recently confirmed that they’re working on creating different versions of T-shirts with the JR logo and a SHIB theme. This step from the famous brand will get Shiba Inu more exposure all across the globe.

Recent images officially revealed by the SHIB metaverse show that team is building its metaverse on Unreal Engine 5.1.

Shib Burns

On the other hand, Shiba Inu Community is also committed to reducing the overall gigantic supply of Shiba Inu. As reported earlier by The Crypto Basic, the Community-led SHIB Burn initiatives destroyed a whopping 90,061,737 (90.06M) SHIB through 44 separate transactions in the past week alone.

Following the massive burn, the total Shiba Inu’s supply is reduced to 589,616,874,345,805 (589.61T) tokens with 562,661,218,538,966 (562.66T) SHIB in circulation and 26,955,655,806,838 (26.95T) SHIB staked on ShibaSwap DEX.

Ripple’s General Counsel Says SEC Is Focused on Recovering FTX Funds For Large Investors, Not “Consumers”

0

Alderoty faults SEC’s recently-filed charges against SBF.

Ripple’s general counsel Stuart Alderoty has commented on the recent charges filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against FTX’s founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), a day after his arrest.

SEC Officially Charges Bankman-Fried

Recall that the SEC officially filed charges against the former CEO of now-bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX. The Securities and Exchange Commission charged SBF with violating the anti-fraud provisions of the Securities Act of 1933 and the 1934 Securities Exchange Act.

Furthermore, the SEC seeks an injunction against future securities law violations by Bankman-Fried, prohibiting him from participating in the sale, purchase, offer, or issuance of securities to the public, except for his account.

The SEC alleged that SBF orchestrated a scheme that defrauded equity investors in FTX. According to the SEC’s charges, Bankman-Fried hid his diversion of customers’ funds to his crypto trading company Alameda Research while raising over $1.8 billion from equity investors.

SEC chair Gary Gensler said in a statement:

“We allege that Sam Bankman-Fried built a house of cards on a foundation of deception while telling investors that it was one of the safest buildings in crypto.”

Ripple’s General Counsel Reacts

In a recent tweet, Ripple’s general counsel Stuart Alderoty shed more light on the charges filed by the SEC against the former CEO of the former second-largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume.

Alderoty said the SEC’s complaint against Bankman-Fried is a plot by the agency to recover funds for “FTX’s sophisticated equity investors.” He noted that the regulatory body does not care about retail investors “who have been left holding the bag in bankruptcy court.”

“To be clear: The SEC’s tag-along complaint against SBF seeks to recover funds for FTX’s sophisticated equity investors, not the consumers,” Alderoty said.

Arturo Portilla, replying to Alderoty said: “In other words, the SEC is only seeking to recover the funds of those “sophisticated” investors who not only couldn’t bother to conduct serious due diligence on FTX but also helped SBF create the perception amongst retail users that FTX was a solid/legitimate enterprise.”

Alderoty Criticizes SEC’s Regulatory Approach

It bears mentioning that Ripple’s general counsel has been outspoken against the SEC’s regulatory approach in the crypto industry. Alderoty has previously accused the SEC of prioritizing protecting its turf at the expense of U.S. investors. For Alderoty, the SEC’s primary concern is becoming the cop on the beat for crypto, and the agency cares less about who gets hurt in the process.

Recall that month after the SEC charged Ripple for allegedly offering unregistered security offering, Alderoty described the lawsuit as a rug pull against investors, who recorded huge losses as a result of the lawsuit.

Meanwhile, TheCryptoBasic reported that U.S. authorities arrested SBF in the Bahamas at the request of the U.S. Department of Justice. The former CEO of FTX was charged with wire fraud, securities fraud conspiracy, and money laundering. Hours after his arrest, the SEC announced that it was preparing charges against Bankman-Fried separate from the ones leading to his arrest.

SBF’s Legal Woes Heighten

SBF’s legal troubles heightened yesterday after the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) filed charges against the founder of FTX. The CFTC alleged that Bankman-Fried violated the Commodity Exchange Act while accusing him of using customers’ funds for his expenditures.

“Contrary to [SBF’s] representations and without disclosure to FTX customers, Alameda and FTX commingled funds and freely used FTX customer funds as if they were their own, including as capital to deploy in their own trading and investment activities,” CFTC said in court records filed on December 13 in the Southern District of New York.

CZ: Things Have ‘Stabilized’, CryptoQuant Says ‘No Shady On-Chain Activities’ From Binance

0

Ki Young Ju believes Binance’s on-chain activity looks normal for now, even as CZ says things have stabilized.

In a tweet yesterday, CryptoQuant chief Ki Young Ju asserted that he could not see any alarming on-chain activity from Binance that could indicate that the exchange was in trouble.

According to the analyst, while the exchange saw its BTC reserves drop by 8% in 48 hours, the same reserves grew by 24% in November during the FTX bank run. In addition, Ki Young Ju implied that the Binance stablecoin reserves looked more “organic” than FTX, which tanked by 93% in the days leading up to the bank run.

The statement from the analyst comes after the leading crypto exchange saw a surge in withdrawals over the last two days. The exchange saw at least $1.9 billion in withdrawals yesterday, per an Aljazeera report.

As reported by The Crypto Basic, the crypto exchange recorded its largest 24 hours BTC outflow, with over 39k BTC worth over $700 million, leaving the exchange yesterday.

Panic ensued after Binance announced that it was temporarily halting USDC withdrawals, leading users to question the health of the crypto exchange. Notably, the suspension of withdrawals by centralized crypto platforms in recent months has usually indicated insolvency troubles. Moreover, it did not help that a Reuters report the day before had implied that the US Department of Justice was about to file criminal charges against the exchange and its executives.

Binance had assured users that it was simply carrying out a token swap which Changpeng Zhao explained required going through a New York bank that was closed at the time. However, after recent industry collapses, several users opted to withdraw their holdings as a precaution.

Things Have ‘Stabilized’ Says CZ

It bears mentioning that today, Binance chief Changpeng Zhao asserted in a tweet that things have stabilized, and the crypto exchange is now seeing inflows. According to the Binance chief, the crypto exchange had seen significantly higher outflows during LUNA and FTX collapses.

Yesterday, the crypto billionaire had described the surge in withdrawals as a “stress test” which would ultimately build investor confidence. “Business as usual for us,” CZ asserted.

In addition to his tweet today, the Binance chief left a hash code of a prediction that he plans to reveal in a couple of years if accurate. When he reveals it, users can use a hash code algorithm to verify the hash.
