EtherMail’s Privacy Wall: Redefining The Dynamics of Email Economics

0

Amidst a very uncertain global economic environment, one truth remains: you can’t kill email! In 2021, 320 billion emails were sent and received daily, and this number is expected to grow to 376 billion by 2025. Email is undoubtedly one of the most dominant and enduring forms of communication, used by the majority of the global population and every type of organization. It has stood the test of time, and is a reliable solution that will play a key role in helping Web2 companies transition into the Web3 ecosystem.

However, before email can provide the underlying architecture for a new era of Web3 communication, we must acknowledge and address email’s significant spam problem. Everyday, the average worker in the U.S receives 120 emails, with roughly 20% of these coming as unwanted spam that evades security filters to land in the users’ inbox. What if we could turn this source of frustration into a rewards mechanism? Imagine users could generate some value from reading those inbounds?

At EtherMail, we want to usher in a new advertising paradigm – one that prioritizes the privacy preferences of end users. We firmly believe the email inbox needs a personalized protective layer to incentivize readers to engage with marketing and newsletter inbounds. Primarily, we want to reward users for the attention and time they spend everyday sifting through unwanted marketing inbounds in their inbox. We want to create a mutually-beneficial ecosystem in which advertisers and email users have absolute clarity around what each side is getting from each other. Today, companies pay Meta (formerly Facebook) money to place targeted advertising in front of users. Shouldn’t they be paying end users to place ads in front of them? Over the years, the Web2 landscape has facilitated an advertising free for all, with the privacy of user data being undercut at every turn, and in many ways, turning the user into the product. We want to reverse this trend and pass the considerable advertising spend directly back to the user in the form of $EMT, our native utility token which will be launched as part of our future roadmap. This is exactly the type of vision for user autonomy and empowerment that is at the heart of the Web3 movement. Intuitively, by charging brands to place ads directly in front of users, this would encourage the placement of relevant content based on a user’s scope of interests.

The EtherMail Paywall solution will serve as a type of virtual toll configured by a Web3 user for their inbox, representing a new incentivization paradigm for emailing, bringing the traditional model into Web3. It will be a personalized protective layer to filter spam and incentivize readers for receiving inbound advertising emails. Users will have the ability to control their paywall based on a range of custom preferences and define what kind of content they are willing to read in exchange for $EMT.

Before we launch the Paywall, we are introducing the Privacy Wall – a first iteration of what will eventually be our Paywall. The Privacy Wall allows users to set their custom preferences around designated content sources, ie: who can send them emails. You can set the outreach preferences that work for you. For example, it could be limited to Web3 companies from your community, or any users from your community that belong to the same Web3 project, token holders of a particular project, or any Web3 email, from basically any EtherMail user. Alternatively, for Web2 you can opt for a ‘No contact’ setting, meaning that no domain outside of EtherMail can contact you. By choosing ‘High security domains’, outreach will only come from a list of domains that EtherMail considers highly secure. Finally, by selecting ‘All domains’, anyone can contact you from a Web2 domain.

We are also working on a subscriptions model, which will allow users to opt-in and grant consent to advertisers to target their inbox in exchange for $EMT. An example subscription could be defined by a set of parameters including a user’s range of interests, their region of residency, their demographic and more.

It has always cost users time and energy to read emails, and we believe they should be able to prioritize what is worth their time, instead of having this decision made for them. Users will be able to set their desired level of privacy, define who can reach out to them, and crucially, outline the terms of payment for emails read – truly a new paradigm for inbound email marketing.

DeFiChain’s Much Anticipated ‘Grand Central’ Hard Fork Goes Live

0

DeFiChain is a decentralized Proof-of-Stake blockchain created as a hard fork of the Bitcoin network to enable advanced DeFi applications. DeFiChain, the world’s leading blockchain on the Bitcoin network dedicated to bringing decentralized financial applications to everyone, has officially activated the much-anticipated Grand Central hard fork on its network at 01 AM EST on Thursday, December 8th on Block Height 2,479,000. The Grand Central hard fork is one of the biggest and most monumental updates for DeFiChain in 2022. It marks the rollout of four main features:

  • On-chain governance
  • Token consortium framework
  • Support for masternode parameter updates (owner, operator, reward address)
  • Pool commission and reward fixes

This hard fork addresses some of the long-awaited product debt and prepares the DeFiChain community for an accelerated growth in 2023.

U-Zyn Chua, Co-Founder of DeFiChain, said, “Grand Central marks a major step in DeFiChain’s governance structure since it is implementing on-chain governance. This makes the voting processes perfectly transparent, easier and strengthens the governance structure of DeFiChain. A major step for the whole ecosystem.”

On-chain governance

To make changes in the DeFiChain ecosystem, community members can submit three types of proposals to be voted on by masternode owners:

  1. Community development fund request proposal (also known as Community Fund Proposal; CFP)
  2. Vote of confidence (also known as DeFiChain Improvement Proposal; DFIP)
  3. Block reward reallocation proposal

Currently, the process of creating a proposal and voting is largely done off-chain. With On-Chain Governance (OCG), any proposal which requires voting by community can be conducted directly on the blockchain. It will strengthen DeFiChain’s governance structure and ensure that there is complete transparency in the entire voting process for the DeFiChain community.

The voting results will now be available real-time on a dashboard on defiscan.live, which makes tracking the results much easier. For masternode owners, they will be able to generate a script to vote for each proposal via the dashboard, reducing the effort required for voting. Overall, this would result in higher levels of participation in the voting of proposals.

DeFiChain Consortium

In DeFiChain, tokenized digital assets are meant to be backed 1:1 by the actual asset in its respective ecosystem (e.g. one dBTC being backed by one BTC). However, this backing is currently not enforceable via the blockchain. The DeFiChain Consortium will give a proper structure to the backing of dAssets to ensure that all digital assets are backed.

Members of the Consortium (e.g Cake DeFi) will have their own dedicated key for the minting and burning of tokenized digital assets. Each member is required to back any digital assets they mint, regardless of whether they are minting for themselves or on behalf of users of their platform.

The Consortium members will also be required to pledge two days worth of collateral, in DFI or DUSD, that will be locked up in a smart contract. It is required on top of the backing of the tokenized digital assets. This collateral will determine how many digital assets a member can mint each day.

This additional collateral is meant to deter members from engaging in activities that are contrary to the interests of the community, and to pay for damages in the event where a member over mints digital assets or is unable to provide backing for tokenized digital assets.

The formation of the Consortium will enhance the governance structure and transparency in the DeFiChain community. It also provides a mechanism for the community to monitor the backing of tokenized digital assets, which deters over minting.

Jim Cramer Hits XRP Again, Calls XRP A “Giant Con”

0

The CNBC Mad Money host has taken a swipe at Ripple’s native coin XRP at a time when investors anticipate a price rally from the ruling on the Ripple v SEC case.

Jim Cramer, American TV personality and host of CNBC’s Mad Money show, has reiterated his resentment towards cryptocurrencies, especially XRP, recently calling the asset a con alongside other crypto assets. Cramer’s comments come when investors want to welcome a relief rally from the asset with the Ripple v SEC case nearing its terminus.

“The whole thing seems bottomless… It’s just a giant con, … Solana, XRP, Dogecoin, those are all cons.”

“We put up XRP, Solana, and Dogecoin; those are all, I believe, cons. Why don’t we put up a bunch of stocks valued at the same size? I’m tired of the con,” Cramer remarked, referencing asset quotes displayed on the show as he was hosted on a CNBC Squawk Box episode today.

When asked what he would like to discuss on the show, Cramer began by referring to the FTX implosion and comments from Kevin O’Leary’s interview on a recent Squawk Box episode. According to Cramer, the FTX collapse has nothing to do with blockchain, which he believes is a terrific invention. He, however, claimed that most cryptocurrencies built on blockchain are con, including XRP.

He noted that blockchain technology is good and does not see anyone going against that. He addressed the XRP/USD quote displayed on the show, claiming that it does not deserve to be followed and that quotes of other assets should be put up in its place. ‘I just find that it’s a random group of things that we put up, and I question that,” Cramer added.

Jim Cramer is known within the wider crypto community as one of the most vocal crypto critics, seizing every opportunity to swipe at digital assets on his Mad Money program and other shows. The recent FTX implosion has made Cramer all the more outspoken regarding his animosity toward cryptocurrencies.

Last week, Cramer, who has been at the forefront of FTX criticism, called SBF “a total con artist.” On his Mad Money show Monday, Cramer advised all cryptocurrency investors to sell off their digital assets and abandon the space. He added that crypto assets such as XRP will likely fall further and go to $0.

Investors Anticipate an XRP Rally as the Ripple v SEC Case Nears its End.

XRP has remained flat in the past 24 hours after shedding almost 3% of its value in the past week. As reported on Tuesday, there remain growing uncertainties concerning the result of the legal tussle between Ripple and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. These uncertainties have contributed to a downward momentum for the asset.

Notwithstanding, investors are anticipating a price rally upon the lawsuit’s conclusion, with both parties having presented their arguments against each other’s claims. As a final ruling edges closer, most crypto community believes a Ripple victory is imminent. Should this occur, the asset could launch a price rally against the prevalent consolidation trend within the broader market as it threads a deco path.

Recently, accomplished attorney John Deaton asserted that the SEC is highly unlikely to emerge victorious in the case against Ripple, highlighting some factors that have prompted his conviction. Additionally, some proponents anticipate a settlement request from the SEC once it notices that the case is leaning towards a Ripple victory.

Meanwhile, XRP’s determination to conquer the $0.40 level has triggered a motion that has seen the asset gain by 1.6% in the past 24 hours. With a 0.34% gain in the past hour, XRP currently trades at $0.3882.

New Wallet Receives 2.8T Shiba Inu, Becomes 32nd Biggest Shib Holder

0

A brand new Shiba Inu Whale becomes the 32nd biggest SHIB holder after receiving a mammoth $26.29 Million worth of Shiba Inu to her portfolio in a single transaction.

Etherscan.io recently reported a transaction in which the unknown wallet sent a whopping 2,871,107,065,473 (2.87T) SHIB, worth $26,299,340 ($26.29M) to the newly created wallet in one robust transaction executed about half an hour ago from press time.

Nascent Whale Accumulated 2.87 Trillion in a Single Transaction
Nascent Whale Accumulated 2.87 Trillion in a Single Transaction

Details

The brand-new wallet is now ranked as the 32nd biggest holder of SHIB on Etherscan.io followed by the wallets of the world’s leading exchanges, Binance US and Gate.io.

Amidst the extensive consolidation phase the broader crypto market faces, Shiba Inu whales have remained active of late, with the network witnessing a recent transaction involving up to 2.8 trillion SHIB tokens. Both wallets involved in the transaction are unknown as of press time, but the recipient wallet had been inactive before the inflow.

As highlighted today by blockchain tracking and analytics platform Whale Alert, the recent whale transaction involved the transfer of 2,871,107,065,000 (2.8 trillion) SHIB worth $26.2 million between two unidentified wallets. Data from Etherscan reveals that the transaction occurred on December 8, 12:03 (UTC).

The transfer emptied the sending wallet, leaving it with $16.5 worth of Shiba Predator (QOM) tokens. Despite having remained active in the past months, the recent SHIB transaction was the first massive outflow from the wallet, suggesting an intent to empty and abandon it, but little is known of this at the time of reporting.

On the other hand, the recipient address is a newly-created wallet address, as indicated by its transaction history. The recent inflow is the first transaction the address has been involved in, data from Etherscan suggests. With a new balance of $26.2M, the wallet only holds the 2.8 trillion SHIB recently transferred into it. The address is now the 32nd largest SHIB holder, according to Etherscan.

Whales Have Begun Amassing SHIB

These whale transactions involving SHIB have picked up amid the recent market uncertainties. Some investors look to find a haven for their assets, with others either selling off out of panic or amassing more tokens as they seek to seize the buy-the-dip opportunity.

Notably, newly-created wallets have been stacking up billions of SHIB tokens of late, with this recent transaction representing one of the biggest accumulations. The Crypto Basic reported two whales amassed up to 420B SHIB ($3.94M) to their balances two days ago. This development occurred less than 24 hours after an earlier report revealed the accumulation of 555 billion SHIB by two newly-created mysterious wallets on December 5.

Recent SHIB Developments

This apparent accumulation trend occurs at a time when SHIB is regarded as undervalued amid the market slump, with several notable developments taking place within the Shiba Inu camp. The Shiba Inu team recently teased new surprises and giveaways for community members in a soon-to-be-launched event.

Furthermore, on December 6, top Japanese crypto exchange OKCoin Japan hinted at a SHIB listing following persistent calls from a SHIB proponent. Additionally, Virginia-based Exclusive Automotive Group partnered with BitPay to accept crypto payments, with Shiba Inu included as a payment option.

Today One of the top developers of SHIB named “Trophias” hinted at a potential launch of SHIB Wiki very soon. The Community believes the launch of SHIB Wiki might come up with Woofpaper V3, as mentioned earlier by the developers in one of the AMA Sessions conducted in March 2022. At that time, the developers stated: Woofpaper V3 is “in progress.”

However, the developers still refuse to give the exact release date, but as per the latest update by Trophias, SHIB Wiki seems to be very close to launch.

SHIB Trophias recently tweeted that V1 Design is completed, and the content finalization is underway. In addition, Trophias confirmed that the launch of Wiki will take place in phases “to help with the content flow.”

Deaton Explains Why The SEC Will Have Trouble Winning Against Ripple Executives

0

Deaton and Hogan believe the SEC has a tough nut to crack in its case against Larsen and Garlinghouse.

In a lengthy Twitter thread yesterday, Attorney John E Deaton explained why the US Securities and Exchange Commission is highly unlikely to win in its case against Ripple Executives Brad Garlinghouse and Chris Larsen.

The thread from the CryptoLaw founder who represents XRP holders as a friend of the court in the SEC case against Ripple came in response to a tweet by fellow lawyer Sasha Hodder. Notably, Hodder revealed that if the Ripple executives lose against the SEC, Larsen and Garlinghouse will owe the SEC $450 million and $150 million, respectively.

Deaton, in his thread, explained that for both executives to lose, the SEC has to prove that they were “reckless” not to know that XRP was a security. According to the lawyer, it had to be evident to the ordinary person that XRP was a security. However, outlining the facts, Deaton implies that it is a near-impossible task.

First, Deaton points out how XRP was classified in 2014 by the US Government Accountability Office and in 2015 by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network as a virtual currency. Additionally, he points out that Hinman’s speech in 2018, which the SEC recently said should serve as guidance, notes that Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other decentralized networks do not constitute securities.

Furthermore, he points out that the SEC’s 2019 digital asset framework says a crypto asset that holders can immediately use for payments is unlikely to satisfy Howey’s test and, as such, can not be classified as a security. Meanwhile, Deaton cites that seven years before the case, Larsen had presented to regulators, SEC included, showing how Ripple planned to revolutionize payments using XRP.

Considering all of these and several other facts listed, Deaton believes it is improbable that the SEC will be able to prove recklessness on the part of Larsen and Garlinghouse.

“I’ve written (meaning my law firm) and/or argued hundreds of summary judgment motions during the last 20 years, and I can confidently say Garlinghouse and Larsen have a better chance at summary judgment on Recklessness than the SEC does,” Deaton wrote.

Notably, Jeremy Hogan, another pro-Ripple attorney, expressed similar sentiments. According to Hogan, the SEC is more likely to win against Ripple than against Garlinghouse and Larsen.

It is worth noting that the SEC named Garlinghouse and Larsen in its complaint against Ripple in December 2020 for allegedly aiding and abetting the offer and the sale of an unregistered security. Notably, the lawsuit has now spanned over two years.

Despite the abundance of evidence highlighted by Deaton yesterday, in March, Judge Analisa Torres denied a motion from the Ripple executives to dismiss the case against them, as reported by The Crypto Basic.

Shiba Inu Metaverse Team Bringing New Surprises and Giveaway In Upcoming Event

0

The Shiba Inu (SHIB) metaverse team has modified its upcoming fireside chat agenda.

Less than 24 hours after announcing the Ryo Plaza Fireside chat scheduled for December 8, 2022, Shiba Inu’s metaverse team announced a change in the event’s agenda. According to the team, the event scheduled today at 8 PM (EST) on Discord will be a “special Holiday Fireside chat.”

The team behind Shiba Inu’s metaverse is inviting all SHIB enthusiasts to participate in the event to recap the efforts made toward SHIB: The Metaverse development.

@ShibTheMv, the official Twitter handle of Shiba Inu’s metaverse, noted that it would unveil some new surprises and give away a piece of virtual Silver Fur Land to one lucky participant of the Fireside chat. Shiba Inu’s metaverse attached a blurry image to the tweet, describing it as a sneak peek for the week.

The announcement comes less than 24 hours after @ShibTheMV invited SHIB holders to join the Ryo Plaza Fireside chat for a chance to win one free SHIB: The Metaverse Silver Fur Land to a lucky participant.  “Come chill with the Metaverse Team this Thursday at 5 pm PST / 8 pm EST for our Ryo Plaza community fireside chat! Maybe more? We will be giving away one free SHIB: The Metaverse Silver Fur Land to one lucky participant, so we hope to see you there!” @ShibTheMv tweeted.

It is worth noting that the team revealed in the introductory phase that Silver Fur has the largest allocation of land, with a total of 17,030 plots. A Silver Fur plot of land was sold for 0.2 ETH or its equivalent in SHIB tokens.

SHIB: The Metaverse Progress

Although @ShibTheMv did not reveal much about the surprise, there is a tendency that the team will share another concept artwork for a new digital location. The team has already shared several concepts of different SHIB: The Metaverse hubs. In September, TheCryptoBasic reported that the metaverse team shared the first concept of the Rocket Pond hub. It explained that the name was derived from the “rocket” slogan in crypto, which signifies that the value of an asset will increase.

The team also shared three concept artworks for another digital location in the metaverse, dubbed dunes. On October 25, @ShibTheMv revealed the first concept artwork for the Dunes hub. The team shared the second concept artwork for Dunes’ digital location three days later. Last month, SHIB: The Metaverse team also released the third concept artwork for Dunes.

‘Ripple Name Service’ Set To Launch On XRP Ledger

0

@rippledomains plans to launch a blockchain naming service on the XRP Ledger (XRPL).

rns.xrp (@rippledomains) is working on launching a blockchain naming service on the XRP Ledger, per a Medium blog post shared by rns.xrp on Twitter today.

The service will allow users to purchase unique blockchain domains linked to their wallet address, allowing for easier identification and management of transactions with less room for error as opposed to the complex format of the original wallet address. Consequently, users can use human-readable text with the .xrp top-level domain when it launches.

Per the blog post, the service dubbed Ripple Name Service will launch in Q1 2023. For proponents of blockchain naming services, the complexity of crypto wallet addresses is a barrier to crypto adoption. This is what rns.xrp says it hopes to solve with the Ripple Name Service. Notably, besides carrying out transactions with their domains, per the blog post, users will also be able to use it to host content.

It is worth noting that despite the Ripple Name Service project name, there is no known link between the project and the blockchain payments company.

rns.xrp has urged followers to expect regular updates on its progress. Currently, it enjoys the support of E-Smitty, an American music producer and XRP supporter.

The producer sharing the update disclosed that he had advised them to launch the service for other blockchains he supports in addition to the XRPL.

Blockchain naming services have become popular in the crypto space. Like other non-fungible crypto assets, users sometimes perceive them as status symbols. Arguably, the most popular name service is the Ethereum Name Service (ENS), which is used even by Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin.

However, despite the newfound popularity of name services on the blockchain, they are not without flaws. For example, Buterin and other privacy advocates have criticized them for creating an avenue to allow outsiders to track the finances of users who opt to use their real names.

Rep Maxine Waters Says “Lies Are Circulating CNBC That I Am Not Willing To Subpoena SBF”

Rep Maxine Waters Responds To Critics, Says A Subpoena For SBF Is ‘On The Table.’

Waters says the Financial Services Committee is willing to subpoena SBF, but the crypto community remains dissatisfied with the response.

Rep Maxine Waters, the chairperson of the US House Committee on Financial Services, has made an effort to debunk claims that she is unwilling to subpoena former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, tweeting today that “a subpoena is definitely on the table.”

It comes in response to criticism and reports of what many in the crypto community described as a “polite” request to SBF to appear before Congress on the 13th despite accusations of fraud and stealing 10 billion in customer funds. A request SBF turned down. Notably, Attorney Jeremy Hogan of Hogan & Hogan pointed out that it made no sense for the lawmaker to take to Twitter to make a polite request when it is within her power to subpoena the crypto founder.

“You, as the Chairwoman (or the Committee itself), can just subpoena him to testify,” tweeted Hogan at the time. “No need to ask nicely on Twitter. It’s House Rule XI clause 2(m). But I’m sure you already knew that.”

Today, Waters says reports claiming she is unwilling to subpoena the former FTX chief are false.

“Lies are circulating CNBC that I am not willing to subpoena SBF_FTX.”

It bears mentioning that Waters has said that the crypto founder has no excuse to miss the hearing despite declining her request, as reported by The Crypto Basic. Notably, despite refusing to appear before Congress, SBF has gone on several interviews in recent weeks following the FTX collapse.

The Crypto Community Remains Puzzled By The Lack Of A Strong Response From Congress

It is worth noting that the latest statement from the House Committee chair has done little to satisfy members of the crypto community who remain puzzled by the perceived “soft” treatment of the former FTX chief by Waters and the Financial Services Committee.

Autism Capital (@AutismCapital), a citizen journalism Twitter account, described Waters’ latest statements as backpedaling.

Meanwhile, financial adviser Douglas A. Boneparth questioned why it was so difficult for lawmakers and the media to take a hard stance on SBF and the FTX collapse.

“The people want our leaders and the media to take a hard stance on this,” Boneparth tweeted. “Why is that so hard?”

Meanwhile, a user in now-deleted tweets sought to draw attention to suspected links between SBF and the Congresswoman, highlighting Waters’ visit to the Bahamas around the time of FTX gaining approval in the island country. In addition, he highlighted the fact that Sid Williams, husband to Waters, was once an ambassador to the Bahamas.

With Congress yet to issue a subpoena, narratives like these deepen as pictures and videos of the Congresswoman and SBF spin heads on Twitter.

Top Shiba Inu Developer Hints At Entire Ecosystem Update Rather Than Just Shibarium

0

SHIB holders think the tweet is an update for Shibarium.

The SHIB community is eagerly anticipating the launch of Shiba Inu’s layer-2 (L2) network, dubbed Shibarium. The anticipation has prompted SHIB holders to believe all mysterious tweets from the development team are referring to Shibarium.

In a recent tweet, a top Shiba Inu developer, “Shiba Trophias” updated the community about the progress toward releasing an unnamed project.

“Trophias” noted in the tweet that “time is ticking” for the project’s official rollout.

According to the top developers, Shiba Inu has made significant progress toward the project’s launch, including completing the project’s version 1 design. He said the development team of Shiba Inu is currently “finalizing the content” for the anonymous project. He added that the team intends to launch the project in phases to aid “the content flow.”

Community Thinks it’s About Shibarium

The community’s anticipation for Shibarium made them believe that Trophias was referring to the upcoming L2 network. While Trophias did not indicate whether the update was for Shibarium, a Twitter user noted that the tweet was “the first time a SHIB team member has talked about shibarium’s real thing.”  Responding to the user, Trophias said the update could refer to the entire Shiba Inu ecosystem rather than just Shibarium.

In a similar development, Shiba Inu’s lead developer Shytoshi Kusama also shared a mysterious tweet last month, as the community thought he was referring to Shibarium.  “Initial design approved. Now I can double down. Let the debris show itself as the flow of kindness and truth washes over the world,” Kusama tweeted.

Shibarium’s Expectations

It is not surprising to see many SHIB holders think Trophias’ recent update was referring to Shibarium. The L2 network has been on the minds of SHIB holders as they expect its rollout to take Shiba Inu to greater heights and further help the cryptocurrency shred its meme coin title.

The community only knows that Shibarium’s update is around the corner. However, the team has refused to give an official date for the L2 network’s launch to avoid disappointing SHIB holders if the project does not go live as scheduled. Shibarium’s public testing was initially scheduled to launch in Q3 2022. However, it was pushed as a result of development delays. The development team has refused to give a specific date ever since.

Ripple Moves 50M XRP; Whales 160M+ Tokens As Price Slumps

0

A few hours following Ripple’s transfer of 50M XRP, over 110M tokens were moved by whales in under three hours.

XRP whales remain active in recent times, as a series of transactions saw the movement of over 160M XRP tokens in under 24 hours, with Ripple accounting for the transfer of 50M tokens. The other whale transactions in under three hours occurred a few hours after Ripple’s XRP transfer to an unidentified wallet.

Ripple’s Large XRP Transfer

As indexed by Whale Alert, exactly 50M XRP tokens valued at $19.2M were moved from the official multisig Ripple address to an unknown wallet yesterday. Data from the Bithomp explorer indicates that the transaction occurred on December 7, 21:21 (UTC).

Though unidentified as of press time, the recipient wallet has received millions of XRP from Ripple in a series of transactions considerably spaced out. The latest transfer from Ripple was the first inflow to the account in over three weeks, following another 100M XRP from Ripple on November 11.

Following each transfer from Ripple, the wallet offloads the XRP to other unknown wallets. So far, it has transferred out 10M XRP from the 50M received to another unidentified wallet, having a balance of 45.3M XRP at the time of reporting.

Other Whale Movements

Less than 3 hours after the large movement from Ripple, another whale movement involving up to 40M XRP tokens worth $15.3M occurred. The transaction on December 8, 00:08 (UTC) has been identified as an in-house flow within two wallets on the Latin American exchange Bitso. There has been a growing pattern of this sort of in-house whale movement of late.

Furthermore, the network witnessed the movement of 35M XRP ($13.5M) less than an hour later. The transaction involved the transfer of the 35M XRP tokens from an unknown wallet to the Luxembourg-based exchange Bitstamp. Bithomp reveals that the movement occurred on December 8, 01:03 (UTC).

There is limited information on the sender’s address at the reporting time. Still, Bithomp data discloses the outflow pattern to three different entities: Bitso, Independent Reserve, and Bitstamp. The transactions to these wallets are usually in millions of XRP. The wallet currently has a balance of 150 XRP as of press time.

The latest movements occurred six hours ago, as an in-house movement within Bitso was carried out on December 8, 1:15 (UTC), 12 minutes after the previous transaction. The movement saw the transfer of 35.6M XRP ($13.9M) between two Bitso wallets. Data reveals that the recipient wallet has only transacted with Bitso addresses in the past.

Single Whale Transferred Over 4 billion XRP Tokens Yesterday

These XRP whale movements have been gaining steam of late, with the recent ones being the latest in a long line. The Crypto Basic highlighted a massive whale movement yesterday, which saw a single anonymous whale transfer over 4 billion XRP tokens from Bittrex to several unidentified wallets. The massive outflow comes in the wake of the FTX implosion, which led to the loss of investor funds, leading to a test of investors’ confidence in exchanges.

Meanwhile, XRP has found some strength within the past 24 hours, as it appreciates by 3% when most of the broader market has been flat in the past day. The asset is trading at $0.3884 at the reporting time, down 3.13% in the past seven days.
