David Gokhshtein Says He’s Sticking With Shiba Inu As He Has Zero Interest in SHIB Killer “THE”

Gokhshtein backs Shiba Inu again.

Despite the growing adoption of the recently launched meme coin The Protocol (THE), some die-hard investors of other existing meme-based tokens are not planning to switch their preference for it.

David Gokhshtein, a prominent cryptocurrency influencer and the founder of Gokhshtein Media, is among those investors who are unwilling to delve into the newly launched memecoin.

In a recent tweet, Gokhshtein expressed his undying support for Shiba Inu (SHIB) by saying he would stick to the canine-themed cryptocurrency. Gokhshtein added that he has zero interest in the newly launched SHIB killer “THE.”

“I’m sticking with $SHIB — not interested in THE at all,” Gokhshtein said.

Gokhshtein Favors SHIB Ahead of Others

It is noteworthy that this is not the first time Gokhshtein publicly backs Shiba Inu. The cryptocurrency influencer has frequently visited Twitter to make favorable predictions for SHIB.

Earlier this month, Gokhshtein predicted a “parabolic rally” for Shiba Inu in the next bull run, a period that serves as a catalyst for massive rallies in cryptocurrencies.

Before making the prediction, Gokhshtein had expressed regret over not “going all in” on Shiba Inu while investing in meme-based cryptocurrency.

“When it came to meme tokens, I should have just [gone] all in on SHIB,” he said.

THE’s Sudden Launch

THE Protocol is the rave-of-the-moment meme coin launched based on a suggestion made by Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum. Buterin jokingly said a cryptocurrency dubbed “THE Protocol” should be created, which will be easy for influencers to promote the project. According to Buterin, influencers can promote the token by referencing statements mentioning “THE”.

It did not take long before unidentified persons took his suggestion seriously and decided to launch a token. The token mainly referred to as Shiba Inu killer, took a leaf from the playbook of Shiba Inu by gifting 100 million units of the cryptocurrency to Buterin. Thus, making him the largest token holder.

Since THE’s creation, the token’s value has spiked tremendously, up over 1,000% on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. At the time of writing, THE is down 5%, according to data from Coingecko. THE has been listed on top cryptocurrency exchanges, including MEXC Global and Bitget.

Over 147.59 Million Shiba Inu (SHIB) burned within the past week, 45.16 Million in the past 24 Hours, and 37.84 Million in one significant transaction.

SHIB burn rate dropped considerably over the last week. Shiba Inu Community collectively burned 147.59 million SHIB in the past seven days and 45.16 million SHIB in the past 24 hours.

Shibburn.com, the most trusted SHIB Burn tracking platform, recently reported that Shiba Inu Community destroyed a total of 147,590,806 (147.59M) SHIB through 48 separate transactions in seven days.

This figure is -62.71% down compared to the Burn Volume of the past week when 395,803,998 (395.80M) SHIB had been incinerated in 48 transactions.

Past 24 Hours:

Shibburn.com also shared the past 24-hour burn figure with the Community via a recent tweet. In a tweet, Shibburn.com stated that a total of 45,165,582 (45.16M) SHIB has been taken out of circulation forever by the Shiba Inu enthusiasts through six separate transactions in the past 24 hours.

The individual SHIB Burn Project, dubbed “SHIB Super Store,” burned a considerable amount of Shiba Inu in one significant transaction causing the SHIB Burn rate to spike 1493.75% over the last day.

SHIB Super Store organized its 24th weekly burn event on Sunday, October 24th, 2022. They sent a whopping 37,843,644 (37.84M) SHIB to the “inferno” addresses in one robust transaction using SHIB Burn Portal.

3.2B Terra Classic Burnt In A Week, 168M By 0.2% TAX, As Total LUNC Burns Surpass 22B

The number of Terra Classic (LUNC) burns continues to gain momentum.

Billions of Terra Classic tokens are burnt every week with the aid of Binance. According to data from LUNC Burn, 22.7 billion Terra Classic tokens have been burnt in total.

According to ‘LUNC BURN’ data, On Monday, 17th OCT, total LUNC burns were 19.5B, while on Sunday OCT 23rd, total burns reached 22.7B. So 3.2B LUNC were taken out of the circulating supply in the past week.

3,219,130,196 (3.21 billion) LUNC was incinerated in the past week; the burns comprise the LUNC charged from the 0.2% burn tax and the voluntary efforts made by exchanges to burn fees for Terra Classic spot and margin trading pairs. Binance has contributed tremendously to the LUNC burn program. The exchange burnt 2.5B LUNC last week and over 11 billion Terra Classic tokens in the three weeks since it started burning fees obtained via LUNC trading activities on the platform.

LUNC Burns Drop As Community Reduces Tax Burn to 0.2%

The huge amount of LUNC incinerated recently was boosted by the 1.2% tax implemented last month. However, the massive tax burn levied on LUNC on-chain transactions came with its problem. Since its 1.2% burn implementation, Terra Classic’s volume slumped heavily, prompting the community to reduce the tax burn parameters from 1.2% to 0.2%. The rationale behind the move is to boost LUNC trading volume again.

As reported by TheCryptoBasic, the community implemented the 0.2% tax burn proposal earlier this week. However, Terra Classic burns have slowed since the 0.2% tax burn proposal went live on October 29, 2022. According to stats, 168M LUNC have been burned by 0.2% tax alone till today since it went live on October 19.

SEC Proposes Two Redactions to Hinman’s Documents, Files Opposition to Ripple Summary Judgment Motion

SEC wants to redact the two drafts of Hinman’s speech.

Shortly after turning over the drafts of William Hinman’s 2018 controversial speech, the SEC submitted for in-camera review proposed redactions to two document drafts.

The development was shared by James K. Filan, a former U.S. federal prosecutor.

The securities regulators want to redact the documents because they contain discussions about pending matters of the agency.

“Pursuant to the Court’s July 12, 2022 order, the SEC respectfully submits for in-camera review proposed redactions to two drafts of Director Bill Hinman’s June 2018 speech that discuss pending determination before the commission,” an excerpt of the SEC motion read.

According to the SEC, the court ruled on April 11, 2022, that the agency could seek to leave to request redaction of communications by SEC staff discussing how the Hinman speech could affect other agencies’ affairs.

“The SEC is hereby submitting these two documents with its proposed redactions highlighted in yellow on page 6 of entry 29 and page 5 of entry 35 […] and therefore seeks to leave to make corresponding redactions to those two documents,” it concluded.

The proposed redactions have been submitted for in-camera review by Judge Sarah Netburn. Ripple is expected to comment on the SEC’s request in the coming days.

As reported, the SEC finally handed over the drafts of Hinman’s controversial 2018 speech to Ripple, as ordered by Judge Analisa Torres.

“Over 18 months and 6 court orders later, we finally have the Hinman docs (internal SEC emails and drafts of his infamous 2018 speech),” Stuart Alderoty, Ripple’s General Counsel said.

SEC Files Opposition to Ripple’s Summary Judgment Motion

Meanwhile, the Securities and Exchange Commission has also opposed Ripple’s summary judgment motion. The regulators asked the court to grant its summary judgment motion because of the evidence that proves Ripple conducted unregistered securities offerings in the U.S.

According to the SEC, Ripple’s analysis of the Howey test is an attempt by the blockchain company to construct its “own test from pre-1933 state law by taking out of context two words (“essential ingredients’ from the Howey opinion, and then purportedly showing that they pass their test.”

The SEC maintained that XRP is a security because most of Ripple’s XRP sales were made in exchange for money, adding that purchasers invested in a common enterprise with one another and Ripple.

Furthermore, the SEC claimed that Ripple led investors to expect profit from XRP based on its managerial efforts.

“Finally, the Individual Defendants’ arguments that certain of their XRP offers and sales were not ‘domestic’ also fails,” the SEC added.

Bitcoin Will Not Drop Another 50%, As Analyst Asserts BTC Bottom Is Close

CryptoQuant analyst says others comparing BTC’s current price action to November 2018 are wrong.

In a CryptoQuant Quicktake shared on Friday, CryptoQuant analyst Onchain Edge asserted that analysts comparing Bitcoin’s current price action to November 2018 are wrong.

“Many analysts believe that BTC, now at $19k, is similar to $BTC at $6k in November of 2018. They are wrong about this bear market,” the analyst writes.

According to the analyst, the market is already in a bear market and has experienced a drop similar to November 2018. As per the analysis, the November 2018 drop from $6k to $3k is very similar to the fall from $30k to $18k.

The former represents a 50% decline, while the latter represents a 41% drop. According to the analyst, if the market falls further, measuring a 50% drop from the $30k price point puts the potential price bottom at about $15k, representing the possibility of an 18% decline and not 50% from current prices.

Notably, as highlighted by Onchain Edge, this price is very similar to the delta price, where the price bottomed in the 2015 and 2018 bear markets. Furthermore, Onchain Edge’s analysis aligns with a study by CryptoQuant in September, as reported by The Crypto Basic.

Onchain Edge, in the comments, summarizes by saying that it is a good time to start accumulating Bitcoin on a dollar-cost-averaging (DCA) basis. According to the analyst, the bottom is close even if the price drops.

Meanwhile, CryptoQuant chief Ki Young Ju expressed similar sentiments in a tweet on Friday. The CryptoQuant CEO highlighted many more strong fundamentals to buy Bitcoin now compared to 2018. In the comments, Ki Young Ju said, “just buy Bitcoin.”

Bitcoin is trading at the $19,171.65 price point, posting marginal gains of about 0.80% in the last 24 hours.

Nik Bougalis, Director Of Engineering At Ripple, Says Goodbye To The Firm

0

Nik Bougalis is leaving Ripple.

In a Twitter thread on Friday, Nik Bougalis, Director of Engineering at Ripple and author of the XLS-20 amendment proposal, disclosed that he is leaving the company after a “fantastic” decade-long journey.

“My decade-long journey at @Ripple has been a fantastic (if exhausting and all-consuming) one,” Bougalis wrote. “I got to work on a project that I love, towards a goal I believe in. But that journey will be coming to an end in a few weeks.”

Bougalis, highlighting the difficulty of the decision, asserted that it was in his best interest. Notably, the engineer believes that the XRP Ledger (XRPL) will continue to run without him as it remains under the care of a talented and dedicated team. Furthermore, the engineer disclosed that he would not be joining any other crypto-related project or company.

Members Of The XRPL Team And XRP Community Respond

Unsurprisingly, the announcement from Bougalis has attracted a flurry of emotional responses from members of the XRPL team and the XRP community at large.

Lead XRPL developer Wietse Wind wished Bougalis all the best in his future adventures, attributing a bulk of his growth in the XRPL team to the teaching of Bougalis.

Meanwhile, Vice President of Strategy and Operations at Ripple, Emi Yoshikawa, touted the engineer as a “bedrock of the XRPL community.” The executive also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with him.

Notably, popular community member Chris Thompson jokingly asked if the community could not put the decision to a vote.

It is worth noting that, over the years, Bougalis has made several contributions to the XRPL and is the author of the XLS-20 amendment proposal that is set to usher in NFT nativity to the XRPL.

Ethereum Classic (ETC) Twitter Account Suspended, Cardano Founder Reacts

0

ETC Twitter account has been suspended.

Following the drama that ensued earlier this month over the changes made to the Twitter account of Ethereum Classic, Twitter has finally suspended the account.

The account, which had over 600,000 followers, was recently suspended, prompting a reaction from Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano.

Hoskinson drew the attention of members of the Cardano community to the development, saying: “This just crossed my desk a few minutes ago. Did the eth_classic Twitter handle seriously just get suspended?”

He noted that there is a possibility that Ethereum Classic could lose all 670,000 followers despite the “drama” that occurred.

Hoskinson’s Conflict With Ethereum Classic

Recall that earlier this month, Ethereum Classic’s Twitter account was changed to a new account for the popular Proof-of-Work (PoW) network Ergo (ERG). Bob Summerville, ETC Cooperative executive director, revealed what caused the changes.

According to Summerville, trouble started after Ethereum Classic Cooperative withdrew its support for Input Output Hong Kong’s 20% in-protocol treasury fee.

This angered the Cardano team, prompting Hoskinson to cede control of ETC’s Twitter account. A member of the ETC community confronted Hoskinson to ascertain if he would return the account to the Ethereum Classic team.

Responding to the user, Hoskinson said he owns the account, adding:

“Can’t get back the millions of dollars of development we spent nor the years of time supporting a blockchain that didn’t seem to want to do anything other than preserve a status quo. We’ll call it even.”

Robinhood Looking To List New Crypto, Can Terra Classic (LUNC) Make It?

0

Robinhood is set to list a new token.

In a tweet on Friday, popular crypto exchange Robinhood disclosed that it is looking to list a new token and has asked crypto Twitter for suggestions.

Naturally, the latest announcement has created a lot of buzz among several crypto communities looking to expose their tokens to new markets and capital. Robinhood has millions of users and is popular because it collects no commission on trading.

It is worth noting that the platform is very strict about the tokens it lists. So far, it offers trading for only 17 out of the thousands of cryptocurrencies.

Can LUNC Make it?

It bears mentioning that the Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) community is among those hoping to get their tokens listed on the platform. The community trying to build from the ashes of the ecosystem collapse in May currently boasts billions of dollars in daily trading volume and an online community presence.

Notably, the community has taken a leaf from the Shiba Inu playbook and has launched a petition to get the attention of Robinhood. It is worth noting that the former got listed after 500,000 persons signed the petition. However, the LUNC community has only managed about 6,900 signatures since the beginning of the month.

A listing by Robinhood would boost new investor confidence and current community burn initiatives to reduce the excess LUNC supply.

95% Ripple Employees Say It’s Great Place To Work As Ripple Is Hiring To Fill Over 150 Roles Despite Crypto Winter

0

Ripple continues to expand despite the deepening crypto winter and SEC case.

In a tweet on Friday, Ripple urged the public to consider joining its team and look through open positions on its website as it is looking to expand.

As highlighted by the company in its tweet, a FORTUNE survey in May found that 95% of staff thought it was a great place to work. Far greater than the average of 57% in the US. Notably, Ripple currently ranks 34th in FORTUNE’s list of 100 best medium places to work.

It is worth noting that a search through the company’s open positions reveals that there are about 156 available roles, with some roles that need filling in multiple regions, which could easily multiply the number of open positions.

It is worth noting that the blockchain-based Fintech company is looking to expand in a period when many others in the industry have been cutting back on staff. The trend comes as the crypto industry is feeling the squeeze as asset prices continue to plummet.

Notably, this, combined with a legal battle with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, does not appear to slow the firm down. Instead, Ripple is expanding its services to other regions.

As highlighted by Ripple chief Brad Garlinghouse in April, nothing changes should the company lose its legal battle with the US SEC. Garlinghouse asserted that the company is already operating with the mindset that it has lost the case. Consequently, 95% of its clients are outside of the US.

Notably, the case with the SEC is nearing its end, and Ripple looks like a strong contender to win it. Moreover, the company’s legal team has expressed even more confidence in their arguments as they have finally received the documents relating to the draft of the controversial William Hinman speech in 2018.

SpendTheBits Says Bitcoin Transactions on XRPL Take 5 Sec As It Declares Support for Ripple In SEC Lawsuit

0

Another third party has requested leave to file an amicus brief supporting Ripple.

SpendTheBits Requests to File Amicus Brief in Support of Ripple Against SEC.

SpendTheBit, an XRPL-based payment solution used for cheap and fast crypto transactions, is the latest third party to request to file an amicus curiae brief in the Ripple vs. SEC lawsuit.

The company noted that its brief differs from those filed by other amici, such as TapJets and I-Remit. While I-Remit and TapJets use XRP as a payment method via the On-Demand Liquidity solution, SpendTheBits is a private company that developed an application that uses XRP Ledger and XRP for transferring Bitcoin.

The payment solution noted that its amicus brief would provide the court with meaningful information about the case. The development comes after the court granted I-Remit and TapJets’ request for leave to file amicus briefs.

SpendTheBits’ Interest in the Case

Aside from using Ripple’s solution, SpendTheBits noted that its major interest in the lawsuit is to disprove the SEC’s claim that XRP investors cannot develop any use for the token without Ripple’s effort.

SpendTheBits described the claim as untrue because its payment solution was built on the Ripple blockchain without Ripple’s knowledge and consent.

Jay Kambo, the founder and CEO of SpendTheBits said he tapped Ripple to enable people to quickly transfer Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for peer-to-peer payments in five seconds.

“This application creates a utility for XRP without Ripple even knowing it exists. The underlying technology of XRP provides a vast amount of utility without the permission or knowledge of Ripple.

… Transferring Bitcoin on a bitcoin network can take anywhere from ten minutes to one hour, depending on the network traffic. WithSpendTheBits, it takes three to five seconds to complete the transaction on the XRPL.”

SpendTheBits noted that it initially planned to launch the payment solution in the United States. However, the lack of regulatory clarity in the U.S. and the ongoing lawsuit has halted that plan, SpendTheBits noted, adding:

“Clearly, SpendTheBits’ interests have been impacted by this lawsuit already, but without making a distinction between particular sales involving the individual defendants and XRP in the secondary market, the SEC is threatening the viability of SpendTheBits.”
