VeChain and OrionOne Ink Partnership to Foster Blockchain Adoption Among Logistics Companies.

VeChain has announced a partnership with OrionOne Inc to combine their technologies to foster the adoption of blockchain technologies among logistics companies.

Per a recent announcement, the integration of Vechain and OrionOne technologies will enable the latter to offer logistics companies the opportunity of utilizing blockchain in their businesses without investing in network infrastructure and digital currencies.

The supply chain industry is estimated to grow to $42 billion per year by 2027. Despite this speculation, the industry still has many challenges for creating unique opportunities for blockchain innovation.  Commenting on the development, Jason Rockwood, the United States arm of VeChain Inc., said:

“A key barrier to wide blockchain adoption is the application layer that connects infrastructure to specific business problems. OrionOne simplifies the data gathering mechanism and makes the value of blockchain tangible and easy to deploy. This in turn saves corporate clients time and money while staying current with the latest innovations in supply chain technology.”

OrionOne’s Offerings

Prior to the partnership, OrionOne already offered logistics companies the ability to organize and manage people, goods, and resources across the entire supply chain.

OrionOne’s services also entail providing an overview of a product’s movement to the market. OrionOne’s integration of VeChain’s tech to the platform will further enhance its services to logistics companies.

The press release stated that an updated version of OrionOne’s website with VeChain’s functionality would be rolled out by August 15, 2022.

Tommy Stephenson, CEO of OrionOne, took time out to heap praise on VeChain for its prowess in developing reliable blockchain and supply chain solutions.

“When it comes to blockchain and supply chain, there’s only one game in town, and that’s VeChain. No other entity can compete with their low-cost, rapid deployment, and ease of use,” Stephenson said, adding:

“We’re excited to integrate their blockchain into our products to bring VeChain to a wider network of clients.”

Growing Adoption of VeChain

VeChain’s solution has been widely adopted across various sectors, especially supply chain and logistics. In June, UFC, a mixed martial arts organization, announced it had selected VeChain to become its official blockchain partner.

Meanwhile, VeChain CEO Sunny Lu recently announced that the company wants to use its tech to change the world.

U.S Top Court Rejects Coinbase Request to Pause Lawsuits.

The United States High Court has denied cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase’s appeal to suspend litigations in two lawsuits launched by its account holders for misconduct over issues relating to scams.

Coinbase Request to Halt Ligations Denied

Coinbase had earlier this month submitted an application to Justice Elena Kagan to pause ligations and discovery, claiming that allowing the suits to move forward. At the same time, it seeks to pursue arbitration that would cause irreparable harm to the firm.

However, the court failed to grant Coinbase’s request to suspend the rulings, and Justice Kagen also refused to handle the case.

The leading American exchange is facing two separate lawsuits from its users, with Abraham Bielski seeking compensation for the $31,000 losses he incurred after unknowingly giving scammers who pretended to be working with PayPal access to his account.

Coinbase said it specifically warns its users against this type of scam in its user agreement which the plaintiff signed. However, Bielski stated that the company was not responsive to his efforts to contact it after the incident.

The crypto company argues that since Bielski signed the user agreement with a section containing a delegation clause compelling arbitration, the case should go through arbitration.

The judges, however, disagreed on the basis that it violates general contract principles and therefore cannot be enforced.

Coinbase Under SEC Probe Over Staking Programs

Coinbase has recently found itself in a series of troubles after its controversial first quarter (Q1) disclosures and filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The filing implied that custodial-held assets could be considered as part of the company’s property in a case of bankruptcy, and customers would be treated as “general unsecured creditors,” causing panic among users.

Last month, the Commission launched investigations against the exchange to understand whether it sold unregistered securities to American investors.

Coinbase has come up on the SEC radar again over its staking programs that allow users to earn passive income from locked cryptocurrencies, according to a Bloomberg report.

The company has received an investigative subpoena by the Commission to present documents and information relating to certain programs and operations, including existing and intended products on the platform.

As reported by The Crypto Basic that top law firms Bragar Eagel & Squire And Pomerantz LLP Filed Lawsuit Against Coinbase. Coinbase is also Facing SEC Investigations for Trading Tokens Deemed As Securities.

Dogecoin Shares Interesting JPEG: Is It An Upcoming Game, Metaverse, Or Just Another Meme??

Is Dogecoin planning to launch a game or metaverse project?

Timothy Stebbing, product lead at the Dogecoin Foundation, shared a new image on Twitter, which suggests that a new initiative might be around the corner for the meme-based cryptocurrency.

In a recent tweet, Stebbing shared an image of a dog in a metaverse background. Although he did not add any captions, enthusiasts of the project could not help but guess the rationale behind the tweet.

Dogecoin’s official Twitter handle also retweeted the image.

This further indicates that the project team could be planning a significant initiative’s rollout.

A Game or Metaverse?

There is a tendency for the image points to the fact that Dogecoin might be planning to launch a new game or a metaverse project.

Dogecoin’s main rival Shiba Inu has already made significant progress toward launching its game dubbed Shiba Eternity.

Shiba Inu recently disclosed that the game is now available for early testing in Vietnam. It is worth noting that Shiba Inu has also unveiled its metaverse project dubbed Shiberse. For Shiba Inu, the rollout of these projects is an important step toward shaking off the meme title. Following Shiba Inu’s focus on web 3.0 initiatives, the Dogecoin team could be under pressure to launch similar initiatives to bolster DOGE’s utility.

The possibility that the vision shared by the Dogecoin team could hint at the possible launch of a game or a metaverse project. Again, it is possible that no significant meaning is attached to the image, as it could be just another meme.

BabyDoge Launches First P2E Game on Decentraland.

BabyDoge, a popular meme token created by the Dogecoin community fans, has just launched its first Play-to-Earn (P2E) game on Petaverse, a pet division of Decentraland.

BabyDoge Unveils First-Ever P2E Games

In a Twitter post on Wednesday, BabyDoge disclosed that the community members have rolled out its first P2E game on Decentraland, one of the leading metaverse platforms in the industry.

Users can now play with their favorite BabyDoge non-fungible tokens (NFTs), earn free tokens, and unlock some cool NFTs at the first P2E Pet Park in the digital universe.

In addition to the mouth-watering benefits, holders of the BabyDogeNFTs can earn 250% boasted rewards in the games, and about 10,000 tokenized assets are available on the Ethereum blockchain.

The NFTs are designed from more than 200 possible pet traits, including eyes, mouth, headwear, and fur clothing.

Mark Cuban Sued In Class Action Lawsuit Over Role In Promoting Voyager Digital

Disgruntled Dallas Maverick fans and Voyager Digital investors sue Mark Cuban.

The Moskowitz Law Firm has filed a class action lawsuit with US District Court in Southern Florida, naming Billionaire Mark Cuban for his role in promoting the bankrupt Voyager Digital to Dallas Maverick fans.

The complaint alleges that Cuban and Voyager Digital CEO Stephen Ehrlich leveraged their years of investing experience to target inexperienced young people to invest their life savings into what they describe as a Ponzi Scheme. In addition, per the filing, Cuban and Voyager Digital allegedly misrepresented the platform multiple times as lacking fees and being cheaper than the competition to gain undue market advantage.

“The  Voyager  Defendants offer what they misleadingly claim to be ‘100% Commission-Free’ cryptocurrency trading services in order to unfairly obtain an edge over their competition, such as  Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken, or Binance, who openly disclose the commissions and fees they charge on cryptocurrency trades,” the complaint reads.

However, according to the filing, Voyager prices were set such that investors paid unreasonably high hidden fees without their knowledge.

In July, The Crypto Basic reported that Cuban had attracted some Dallas Maverick fans’ ire following the collapse of the crypto lender. Notably, the basketball franchise owned by Cuban had entered into a 5-year deal with Voyager Digital in October last year, promoting the platform to fans as a cheap and easy way to get involved in the emerging crypto market.

However, in July, the crypto firm ceased withdrawal services on its platforming, revealing insolvency concerns, consequently filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in New York days later.

The latest message from the firm less than a week ago reveals that the company will resume cash withdrawals today after a Judge approved the release of $270 million in cash deposits. Customers with cash deposits would be allowed to withdraw up to $100k within 24 hours.

Additionally, the company reveals that it is currently undergoing a restructuring process and pursuing a potential sale of the firm. Notably, it would start taking bids from August 26. However, it remains unclear how customers with crypto holdings will receive remuneration.

iOS users resident in Vietnam can now have access to early testing of Shiba Eternity.

Shytoshi Kusama, the lead developer of Shiba Inu, has disclosed that the long-anticipated SHIB game dubbed Shiba Eternity, is now available for early testing in Vietnam.

The pseudonymous lead developer revealed that iOS users resident in Vietnam could download the game on their smartphone devices. According to a tweet shared by Kusama, Vietnamese will only be exposed to limited features of the game, with plans on the way to roll out more features soon.

“Vietnam! The game Shiba Eternity is now available for testing in your country on iOS. Looking for Shiba Eternity. This is an early test and more features will be released in later builds. Happy experimenting,” Kusama said.

Shiba Eternity Might Roll Out in Indonesia Soon

Kusama did not state when Vietnamese using Android will have access to testing Shiba Eternity.

The development comes less than a month after Kusama teased Vietnamese residents about an upcoming special treat for supporters of SHIB based in the country.

Meanwhile, Kusama has also hinted that Indonesia might be the next country where Shiba Eternity will be rolled out.

Shiba Eternity

Shiba Eternity is the name of Shiba Inu collectible card game (SHIB CCG). The game has been under development for several months. Popular Australian game developer PlaySide Studios will be building the game.

Last month, Kusama revealed in a leaked Discord chat that the game would be super strategic.

Furthermore, Gossip Shib shared a video showing what the game would be like.

Ethereum Developers Successfully Launch The Merge On Final Testnet

Developers finalize Merge on Goerli.

In a tweet earlier today, Ethereum developer Marius van der Wijden revealed that developers had finalized the Merge on Goerli, Ethereum’s final test network (testnet). According to van der Wijden, the update appears to run smoothly despite some earlier hiccups due to some validators failing to upgrade their nodes or properly configure their setup.

“And we finalized on goerli. There was some confusion on the network because of two different terminal blocks and lots of non-updated nodes, so we didn’t finalize earlier. We’re still looking into whats happening, but so far it looks quite good,” the developer tweeted.

Notably, addressing some concerns in the comments, van der Wijden notes that the most significant issues faced on all three testnets so far have not been from the code itself but validators failing to update correctly. This is a positive as the developer notes that developers do not have to intervene in these instances, aside from contacting erring validators to configure their systems properly.

It is worth noting that lead developer Tim Beiko had first disclosed the timeline for the Goerli Merge at the end of July. The Goerli testnet, aside from being the final testnet in the Ethereum ecosystem, bears the most similarities with the existing Ethereum main network (mainnet). Consequently, the results of the Goerli Merge will provide key indicators of what to expect when the Merge finally goes live on the mainnet.

For the uninitiated, the Ethereum Merge is a long-anticipated Ethereum upgrade that will see the network migrate from the energy-intensive Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus mechanism to the less intensive Proof-of-Stake (PoS) mechanism. The transition will happen when developers successfully fuse the Ethereum mainnet to the PoS Beacon chain. Expected benefits include cheaper and faster transactions on the network.

The Merge is expected to take place on the mainnet in September, should all go according to plan. Ethereum is currently trading at the $1,884 price point, up 12% in the last 24 hours and 13% over the previous seven days.

Is the Metaverse a Hype or the Beginning of a New Age in Digital Interactions?

0

The metaverse; could it be the future of digital ecosystems? Much has been said about this relatively new concept but there is yet to be a consensus on its underlying potential. Some believe it could define tomorrow’s digital world while others think it is just another hyped technological experiment. Surprisingly, the metaverse is not as new as most people tout it, the concept was first introduced in Neal Stephenson’s 1992 science fiction novel, Snow Crash.

Now three decades down the line, it has become one of the most discussed topics in tech innovation. Big banks such as Citi and JP Morgan have recently predicted that the metaverse economy could hit over $10 trillion by 2030. That said, skeptics like Dan Olson (a well known content producer), are of a contrary opinion. The youtuber recently published a documentary dubbed ‘Line Goes Up’ where he outlines several problems with NFTs.

According to Olson, NFTs, which are essentially the building blocks of the metaverse, are pointless in their current state. He argues that most of the existing NFTs do not work as advertised. This nascent niche has also received a fair share of backlash from traditional finance moguls, including Warren Buffet and Peter Schiff. Both figures have always opined that crypto is a mere ‘speculation’ market that will likely follow the tulips bubble trend.

While some of these arguments might hold water, it is worth noting that crypto has long evolved from the days when ‘gambling’ was the main narrative. Innovations in Decentralized Finance (DeFi), Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and the metaverse have completely changed the game in recent years. For this article, we will stick to the metaverse; are the critics right or simply conservative in accepting new technologies?

“We believe the Metaverse is the next generation of the internet — combining the physical and digital world in a persistent and immersive manner — and not purely a Virtual Reality world. A device-agnostic Metaverse accessible via PCs, game consoles, and smartphones could result in a very large ecosystem.” read a report by CitiBank.

It Is Just the Start …

Like the early days of the internet, most of the ongoing development in the metaverse has been in the experimental stages. One can trace its beginnings back to when NFTs started gaining popularity in 2021. At the time, crypto natives were excited about this new form of ‘digital art’ which could be sold in decentralized markets such as Opensea and Rarity. More importantly, NFTs presented an opportunity for artists to record and authenticate their work on-chain.

Today, it is not just about NFT art, we have digital collectibles that can be used as in-game items, an ecosystem that has grown into billions of dollars. But perhaps the most fundamental intersection is between NFTs and the metaverse. In recent months, there has been a surge in upcoming digital worlds, with notable mentions such as Decentraland and The Sandbox taking an early lead.

Owning virtual land is longer an imagination; some investors are paying top dollar to acquire high end properties in Decentraland and The Sandbox. In one instance, a crypto collector forked out $450,000 for a plot next to Snoop Dogg’s property on The Sandbox. According to DApp Radar, metaverse land sales hit a record of $100 million in 2021, although the activity has since dropped due to macro uncertainties.

On the brighter side, the bear market has given rise to innovative solutions such as the one pioneered by Looking Glass Labs (LGL). This Web 3.0 platform specializes in the development of NFTs, metaverse environments and play-to-earn models, making it easier for both individuals and businesses to navigate the ecosystem.

As it stands, LGL’s leading brand House of Kibaa (HoK) has already released its flagship NFT collection ‘GenZeroes’, which sold out for a total of 6.2 million CAD. They also recently announced an NFT airdrop mint where a total of 9,000 rare card parks were distributed to existing Gen X and HoK Genesis NFT holders.

With the metaverse gradually coming of age, more stakeholders are taking a keen interest in the developments. The game has shifted from being a crypto-dominated market to a combination of retail and institutional users. For example, luxury brands such as Gucci, Adidas and Nike have all set up virtual shop in the metaverse. Meanwhile, the likes of Meta and Microsoft are making strategic moves to be part of the digital world.

“When we talk about the metaverse, we’re describing both a new platform and a new application type, similar to how we talked about the web and websites in the early ’90s,” noted Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella in a keynote address.

Closing Thoughts

We live in an interesting era, communication has shifted to digital platforms, especially after covid-19 struck in 2020. While some people may not like the idea, it is quite evident that the next phase of human interactions will mainly be conducted through digital ecosystems. To this end, we have seen applications such as Zoom and Google meets increase their market within a short period.

What if digital interactions could be made more real through Virtual and Augmented Reality? Well, the metaverse is doing exactly that. According to Mark Zuckerberg, digital worlds are the future of business operations and social ecosystems. The CEO of Meta also noted that the metaverse will not be built by one company but through a collaborative effort,

“The metaverse will not be created by one company. It will be built by creators and developers making new experiences and digital items that are interoperable and unlock a massively larger creative economy than the one constrained by today’s platforms and their policies.”

Ripple Labs Interested in Celsius Network’s Asset.

The blockchain company wants to first study the importance of Celsius’ assets to its business before taking a decision.

Silicon Valley tech company, Ripple Labs, has reportedly indicated an interest in potentially acquiring bankrupt crypto lender Celsius Network assets. Reuters reports that the development was revealed by a spokesperson of the company.

According to the spokesperson, Ripple wants to learn more about Celsius’ assets and see if they will be useful to its businesses. After completing the analysis, Ripple will decide whether to purchase the assets based on their significance to its operations.

“We are interested in learning about Celsius and its assets and whether any could be relevant to our business,” the anonymous spokesperson said.

The source did not say whether Ripple is interested in buying Celsius assets outright but noted that the company would study the relevance of the assets to its businesses.

Furthermore, the source further revealed to Reuters that Ripple is currently looking for mergers and acquisition (M&A) opportunities to bolster its operations.

“Ripple has continued to grow exponentially and is actively looking for M&A opportunities to strategically scale the company,” the company’s spokesperson told Reuters.

Goldman Sachs Leads the Way

While Ripple is yet to decide on purchasing Celsius’ assets outright, popular U.S. investment company Goldman Sachs is already taking key steps to becoming the most suitable buyer of the assets.

As reported by TheCryptoBasic, Goldman Sachs plans to raise $2 billion from investors to purchase Celsius’ assets at discounted prices.
