Cardano’s Decentralized Lending Protocol Soars Nearly 55,000% in Total Value Locked (TVL) In One Month

0

One of Cardano’s decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms is having an impressive rally in the amount of Total Value Locked (TVL) on the platform in the past 30 days.

According to data on DefiLlama, the Total Value Locked on FluidTokens, a decentralized finance lending platform, has soared above 54,000% in the past month.

FluidTokens has recorded a growth of 54,638% in TVL, representing a total of $23,707. Aside from the monthly surge, FluidTokens also saw an increase of 16.42% in the last seven days, DefiLlama data shows.

FluidTokens’ Features

FluidTokens is a peer-to-peer lending protocol that allows borrowers to offer their Cardano-based non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as collateral to borrow ADA.

With FluidTokens, users can unlock the value of their NFTs by providing them as collateral for ADA loans. The lender will be required to go through the loan offerings on the FluidTokens marketplace and fund the loans considered acceptable.

The NFT that will be offered as collateral must be from an approved collection. Users will repay the borrowed cryptocurrency based on the agreement stated on the platform.

Cardano’s TVL Records Slight Spike

Meanwhile, the Total Value Locked across various decentralized applications on the Cardano network is also experiencing a slight increase in the past day.

In the last 24 hours, the TVL on Cardano’s DeFi platforms have also soared 1.66%. At the moment, Cardano has a TVL of $111.37 million across eight decentralized finance applications.

WingRiders is ranked as the largest DeFi protocol on Cardano in terms of Total Value Locked. Per data on DefiLlama, WingRiders has $44.86 million in TVL, representing a 43.87% market dominance.

Cardano Founder: More DEXes to Launch Soon

Since smart contract functionality was enabled on Cardano, only a handful of DeFi protocols have gone live on the network. DefiLlama currently tracks 12 decentralized protocols on the Cardano blockchain, with only eight active.

The fact that there are only a few DeFi protocols on Cardano also affected the network’s TVL, which previously soared above $300 million earlier this year.

However, Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, expressed confidence that the network’s TVL will soar when more decentralized applications go live after Vasil’s mainnet launch.

XRP Price Remains Stagnant Despite Major Victory Ripple Recorded Against the SEC

0

The value of XRP did not react positively to reports of Judge Netburn’s denial of SEC’s attorney-client claim over William Hinman’s internal document.

As reported by TheCryptoBasic yesterday, Ripple recorded a major victory against the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the ongoing lawsuit.

U.S. District Judge Sarah Netburn denied the SEC’s motion to protect internal documents related to the speech made by William Hinman, the former director of the agency’s Corporation Finance.

Hinman’s 2018 Speech

The Hinman document was used to draft the speech made by Hinman in 2018 when he declared that Ethereum (ETH) is not a security.

Ripple argued that there is a possibility that its native cryptocurrency was also discussed considering that it was in a head-to-head contest with ETH over which crypto would become the second-largest digital asset after Bitcoin at the time.

However, all efforts to have the SEC surrender the Hinman document have ended in futility. The agency had tried to use the law on different occasions to avoid handing over the Hinman documents to Ripple.

Yesterday’s victory marked the second time Judge Netburn will be ordering the SEC to surrender the Hinman documents to Ripple. Although the SEC is expected to file for reconsideration of the ruling, many legal experts following the lawsuit do not think the agency’s request will be granted.

Commenting on the likelihood that Judge Netburn will grant the SEC’s motion for reconsideration, attorney Jeremy Hogan, a Partner at Hogan & Hogan law firm, said:

XRP Not Impacted By Yesterday’s Victory

Despite the significance of yesterday’s victory, the price of XRP did not respond positively to the news. XRP remained stuck around $0.3 even though the court had denied the Securities and Exchange Commission’s request to protect Hinman’s document based on attorney-client privilege.

In the last seven days, XRP has traded between the prices of $0.3 and 0.35.

The ongoing Ripple v. SEC lawsuit has majorly affected XRP holders, who have seen the value of their investment in the cryptocurrency plummet massively.

Although Ripple was officially charged by the SEC in December 2020, XRP has already plunged tremendously since 2018 when the agency hinted that the blockchain company offered an unregistered securities offering.

In early 2018, XRP surged to an all-time high of $3.4. However, the cryptocurrency’s value has continued to dip from when Hinman declared ETH as a non-security to date.

XRP is down 90.8% from its all-time high of $3.4, as it is currently changing hands at $0.31. The coin sits as the seventh-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.

Many expected that yesterday’s development would have propelled the value of XRP to soar. However, the news did not have much impact on the coin’s price.

Mastercard Collaborates With Fasset To Promote Crypto In Indonesia

Fasset and Mastercard have partnered together to promote the use of cryptocurrencies in Indonesia

Mastercard, a global supplier of financial services, and Fasset, a provider of cryptocurrency gateways, have formed a partnership to co-develop digital solutions in an attempt to increase bitcoin acceptance in Indonesia.

The purpose of the cooperation is to broaden access to financial services and increase the number of possibilities available in the nation located in Southeast Asia.

Users are able to exchange digital assets such as bitcoin and tokens representing real-world assets using the platform Fasset, which was launched in 2019 and was based on the Ethereum blockchain. The majority of the company’s focus is on developing nations, and its headquarters are located in the United Kingdom.

Fasset is hoping that by collaborating with Mastercard, it will be able to give financial access and digital capabilities that would help bridge the digital divide.

The cryptocurrency company has announced that in addition to expanding its product offerings, it is also building training and educational platforms with the goal of bringing those who are underserved into the formal financial sector.

An executive at Fasset named Hendra Suryakusuma has said that the acceptance of cryptocurrencies in countries such as Indonesia would have a big influence on the larger crypto ecosystem because it will serve as a reference for other nations to seek advancement and the speed of economic expansion.

The most recent agreement comes after Fasset completed a series A investment round in April for US$22 million. Additionally, the company was granted three operating licenses by the Labuan Financial Services Authority of Malaysia one month ago, allowing it to begin business operations in the nation.

A poll found that Indonesians are the most likely people in the world to acquire cryptocurrency, with 41 percent of the population doing so. In the meanwhile, as of the year 2021, over 66 percent of the country’s 275 million inhabitants still did not have a bank account, giving it an ideal ground for international financial actors.

Tencent Closes NFT Platform Because of Government Policy

0

As a result of government regulation, Tencent has decided to shut down its NFT platform

According to Blue Whale Finance, Tencent News disbanded its NFT trading function not long after the Chinese government made it illegal for private businesses to conduct trades after a purchase.

One of Tencent’s NFT platforms was halted as of July 1, while the company’s other platform is now fighting for its life. According to a report in a regional newspaper, the process of scaling back for the same started in May of this year.

In the last week of May, Tencent reassigned key executives responsible for administering the NFT platform and fully eliminated the digital collectible segment from its Tencent News app by July’s first week.

Government legislation that prevents customers from reselling their NFTs in private transactions after purchase is being blamed for the slowdown in sales of Tencent’s digital collectible platform and its eventual shutdown. Because there is no secondary market for these digital treasures, there is no way to profit from them.

Tencent pledged earlier this month to put an end to the secondary market for digital collectibles. JD.com, Baidu, and Ant Group, among other Chinese IT heavyweights, have all pledged their support.

Chinese authorities have banned cryptocurrency sales, but NFT trading is still permitted. Companies in the nation have rebranded the assets as digital collectibles as a result of the negative connotation.

No matter how serious the government has been about cracking down on cryptocurrency trading and mining in China, dealers have always found a way around it.

For instance, China’s proportion of Bitcoin miners decreased from 60% to 0% when the government banned crypto mining last year.

In spite of the government’s severe controls, it seems that Chinese miners have discovered a method to climb back up to the second rank. Fivefold increase in the number of NFT platforms in only four months.

Cardano (ADA) Price Still Low Despite Enthusiasm Around Vasil Hard Fork, But Things Expected to Change Soon

0

The fuss around Vasil hard fork is still unable to propel Cardano (ADA) price for a surge.

There has been a lot of fuss around the upcoming Vasil hard fork. Members of the Cardano community are eagerly anticipating the launch of the upgrade, which is tipped to roll out significant improvements to the network.

With the Vasil hard fork, Cardano will offer cheaper and faster transactions, an improvement that will lure more developers to the network. Furthermore, Cardano’s scaling and smart contract functionality will be enhanced via the launch of Vasil.

Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, recently chose Vasil as his most defining moment of 2022, even though the update is yet to launch on Cardano’s mainnet.

“It’s always difficult to define one key moment but the Vasil hard fork is pretty significant,” Hoskinson said.

Although the upgrade was initially slated to launch last month, Cardano’s developer, Input Output Global (IOG), rescheduled Vasil’s mainnet launch to later this month.

According to the IOG team, the Vasil Hard Fork cannot afford to make the same mistake as other blockchains, with emphasis on the Terra incident.

Despite the delay of Vasil, the enthusiasm around the project has still not faded. As the end of July 2022, edges closer, Cardano enthusiasts are filled with excitement as they expect one of the most significant upgrades to the network.

ADA Remains Low Despite Buzz Around Vasil

However, the excitement around the Vasil upgrade is not being reflected in the price of Cardano’s native cryptocurrency, ADA.

Recall that ADA price skyrocketed a bit after the IOG announced the launch date of the Vasil mainnet launch. The rally was expected to continue as the date drew closer. However, this has not been the case, as the value of ADA has been relatively stagnant in the last seven days.

With Vasil close to going live later this month, ADA has maintained a low momentum, falling below $0.41 in the last 24 hours.

Although the value of ADA had soared to nearly $0.44 earlier today, the price movement of the cryptocurrency is still below expectation.

ADA Could Rally as Vasil Launch Date Edges Closer

Nevertheless, Vasil is still two weeks away from its scheduled mainnet launch, and anticipation is expected to build within this period. Thus, prompting the value of the cryptocurrency to soar in the coming days.

Anticipation will likely grow in the final week of July 2022 – the period when Vasil will launch on the Cardano mainnet. Hopefully, the value of ADA could soar above $0.5.

Brazil’s Lower House Delays Vote On Crypto Bill Till After Presidential Elections In October: Report

0

Brazil’s lower house will not consider the crypto bill till after the presidential elections.

The Brazilian Chamber of Deputies has decided to put the vote on the country’s crypto bill on the back burner, according to a CoinDesk report on Thursday.

According to the report, other legislative issues like a budget guidelines law and a proposed constitutional reform have taken priority. Consequently, the house will no longer consider the crypto bill next week.

It is worth noting that the bill, as reported by The Crypto Basic, first received approval from the Committee on Economic Affairs (CAE) in February. Notably, the bill also received approval in the Senate in April. The legislation so far focuses on tax exemptions for green miners, commensurate punishment for crypto crimes, and regulation of crypto transactions and companies.

According to CoinDesk’s report, the lower house has yet to agree on a final draft for the bill. However, the bill’s rapporteur in the lower house is said to have taken out two articles from the one approved by the Senate.

Notably, Both articles taken out by Netto apply to crypto exchanges. The first requires crypto exchanges not to commingle user funds and that of the exchange. The second requires that exchanges have an Employer Identification Number before they are allowed to pursue a license in the Latin American giant.

It is worth noting that Brazil has adopted the emerging market significantly, and lawmakers have maintained a positive attitude toward the industry. In March, the city of Rio De Janeiro revealed that it would start accepting property taxes in Bitcoin in 2023. In May, the country’s largest digital bank Nubank in partnership with Paxos, revealed that it was launching Bitcoin and Ethereum trading services for customers.

The country’s crypto bill is expected to usher in a new wave of adoption. It was expected to become law this year as it now only needs approval from the Chamber of Deputies and the President’s signature. Notably, it remains unclear what changes may occur should incumbent president Jair Bolsonaro be ousted.

Matic Leads Crypto Market Rally After US CPI Data Release

The crypto markets show some resilience in the face of record inflation.

The crypto markets on Thursday have staged what appears to be a relief rally, with Matic leading the way after US Consumer Price Index (CPI) data showed that inflation is at 41-year highs.

On Wednesday, the US Labor Department released the CPI data for June, showing that inflation year on year in June had risen by a whopping 9.1% beating the 8.8% estimate. Despite this data release, it is worth noting that the crypto markets have rallied, indicating that the data may have already been priced in.

On Wednesday, Wu Blockchain reported that a false US CPI data report claimed that inflation had risen to 10.2% in June, causing markets to fall.

As the market rallies, Bitcoin has again reclaimed the $20k price point, up 3.39% in the last 24 hours. Ethereum and BNB are up 5.33% and 3.75%, respectively.

However, Polygon’s Matic leads the way in terms of gains for the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market cap. It is currently up 18.34% in the last 24 hours and 24.02% in the last seven days, trading at the $0.6442 price point.

Notably, it is the second time in less than two weeks that Polygon is leading the markets in terms of recovery. On July 5, The Crypto Basic reported that Matic was leading the market rally following support from HTC mobile.

The latest spike is attributed to the inclusion of the network in Disney’s Accelerator program to build immersive experiences through augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

On-chain data analytics firm Santiment notes that the average Matic trader in the last 30 days is up 28%, the highest since last October. Consequently, Santiment warns that traders may opt to take profit on their positions.

While the crypto market cap remains below the $1 trillion mark, it has shown a 2.95% gain in the last 24 hours. The crypto market cap currently sits at $896.13 billion.

In the last eight months, cryptocurrency prices have tanked as investors remain risk-off due to the hawkish stance of central banks in the face of rising inflation. As a result, the crypto markets have become increasingly sensitive to US CPI data.

Celsius Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Tows The Same Path As Voyager

0

Celsius is bankrupt.

Embattled crypto lender Celsius and its subsidiaries on Wednesday filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the Southern District of New York, confirming suspicions from analysts.

The firm disclosed in its press release that the filing enables them to carry out a restructuring process to provide the best outcomes for stakeholders.

“Today’s filing follows the difficult but necessary decision by Celsius last month to pause withdrawals, swaps, and transfers on its platform to stabilize its business and protect its customers. Without a pause, the acceleration of withdrawals would have allowed certain customers—those who were first to act—to be paid in full while leaving others behind to wait for Celsius to harvest value from illiquid or longer-term asset deployment activities before they receive a recovery,” said the company’s board.

“We have a strong and experienced team in place to lead Celsius through this process. I am confident that when we look back at the history of Celsius, we will see this as a defining moment, where acting with resolve and confidence served the community and strengthened the future of the company,” added CEO Alex Mashinsky, asserting that this was the right decision for all involved.

In its filing, it is worth noting that the now bankrupt crypto lender makes a case for the company to continue operations during the restructuring process. The company says it currently has $167 million cash in hand and proposes to use it to continue operations, including employee payments and benefits.

However, the firm maintains that it is not seeking to reopen customer withdrawals.

It is worth noting that there have been weeks of widespread rumors and speculation that the crypto lender would file for bankruptcy. However, for weeks it appeared that the firm was doing everything to avoid this outcome, making over $1 billion in repayments to debtors. With Wednesday’s filing, Celsius has put any doubt to rest, dealing another blow to account holders.

Celsius Chapter 11 filing comes just over a week after fellow crypto lender Voyager filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in New York. Notably, as reported by The Crypto Basic, account holders with the firm are not likely to receive full repayments.

Celsius, on June 12, disclosed it was halting customer withdrawals owing to the unfavorable crypto market conditions. Notably, before revealing insolvency concerns, the firm had offered depositors returns as high as 17%.

Regulators in six states in the US are currently investigating the company, with Vermont joining in on Tuesday, expressing the belief that the lender is “deeply insolvent.” Celsius also faces a lawsuit from a former money manager who accuses the firm of fraud and market manipulation.

Crypto Is Gaining Incredible Amount of Popularity In Saudi Arabia

In Saudi Arabia, the use of cryptocurrency is seeing a meteoric rise in popularity

According to a KuCoin survey, as of May 2022, around 3 million Saudi Arabians, or 14 percent of the adult population aged 18 to 60, have become crypto investors who either presently hold cryptocurrencies or have traded in the previous six months.

Another 17% of individuals are crypto-curious and want to invest in cryptocurrencies in the next six months, according to the survey.

Saudi Arabia is a significant market for digital currencies due to its high level of penetration and acceptance, showcasing the potential for growth in the Middle East and North (MENA) area.

76 percent of Saudi Arabia’s crypto investors have less than a year of experience in crypto investing, which is sort of unusual.

A shift in investor mood occurred in the first quarter of 2022 when the bear market began to take hold. In Saudi Arabia, 42 percent of crypto investors want to better their families’ living standards with their investments. Over a quarter (28 percent) want to put the money back into the market.

In the second quarter of 2022, when the market turns negative, 42% of cryptocurrency investors will be using auto-trading solutions like trading bots. The crypto industry in Saudi Arabia is being opened up to new opportunities and services because of the country’s distinct culture and philosophy.

Crypto Regulation in Saudi Arabia

Although the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has not yet made any official legislation regarding cryptocurrencies available, the administration seems to have adopted a positive posture toward digital assets and blockchain technology.

A digital currency named Aber was jointly unveiled in 2019 by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) and the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (UAECB). The fiat currencies of the two nations will be used as backing for the cryptocurrency, which would be utilized for making payments across the border between the two countries.

COTI Partners Iagon to Integrate Cardano’s Official Stablecoin $Djed Into Its Cloud Computing Marketplace

0

COTI, a leading enterprise-grade fintech company based on the Cardano network, has announced a partnership with cloud computing platform Iagon.

According to a Medium blog post, the partnership will enable Iagon to integrate $Djed stablecoin to its upcoming marketplace for decentralized computing resources.

The $Djed stablecoin is considered an integral component of the entire trading process that will be conducted on the decentralized computing resources marketplace.

“This collaboration will result in implementing Djed as a storage exchange payment means on Iagon’s shared storage economy platform,” COTI noted in an announcement today.

Commenting on the development, Dr. Navjit Dhaliwal, Iagon’s CEO, acknowledged the integral role $Djed can play in the company’s ecosystem.

The stablecoin’s low volatility makes it a reliable currency that can be used for making down payments, Dr. Dhaliwal noted.

“Our partnership with COTI is essential to our platform. $Djed will play a key role in our ecosystem because its low volatility makes it a reliable currency, perfect for down payments.”

$Djed’s Importance to the Cardano Ecosystem

$Djed is Cardano’s official stablecoin based on an algorithmic design. The stablecoin uses smart contracts to ensure it is free from wide volatility, and it will provide an instrument for decentralized finance (DeFi).

Aside from being used as a tool for decentralized finance transactions, $Djed will ultimately become the coin that Cardano enthusiasts will use to pay transaction fees on the network.

COTI Fostering $Djed Integration Across Various Platforms

In September 2021, Charles Hoskinson, the CEO of Input Output Global (IOG), the company responsible for Cardano’s research and development, chose COTI as the official issuer of the $COTI stablecoin.

Since the announcement was made, COTI has partnered with various firms to bolster the adoption and utilization of the stablecoin across multiple platforms.

In November 2021, COTI announced a partnership with Cardano-based decentralized exchange SundaeSwap, to integrate $Djed into the trading platform.

“We’re pleased to be able to team up with COTI, the issuer of Djed, to help ensure that SundaeSwap DEX users will have a reliable, widely-accepted stablecoin at their disposal for future crypto transactions on the exchange,” Mateen Motavaf, Chief Executive Officer of SundaeSwap, said.

In a similar development, TheCryptoBasic reported earlier this year that COTI also partnered with AdaSwap, in a bid to explore ways that $Djed stablecoin can be added to AdaSwap DEX.
