European Union Crypto Regulation Sets 1000 EUR Privacy Threshold

European Crypto Regulation Set Privacy Limits At 1,000 EUR.

The long-awaited Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) bill has finally seen a successful conclusion to the negotiations that were taking place inside the EU’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee.

The MiCA will work toward the implementation of supervisory regulations, consumer protections, and environmental safeguards, as well as the establishment of laws governing how cryptocurrencies and digital assets should be handled.

The new legislative framework, which has been the subject of controversy from its start in 2020, addresses the transparency, disclosure, authorization, and oversight of service provider transactions and tries to establish a uniform approach throughout all 27 member states.

MiCA aspires to improve financial stability and investor safety in Europe by mandating that all bitcoin wallets complete KYC processes, among other regulations.

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) will be granted the authority to prohibit or limit crypto platforms if it is determined that they do not adequately safeguard investors or endanger market integrity or financial stability.

Transfers between cryptocurrency exchanges and un-hosted wallets owned by individuals will be required to be reported if the amount exceeds 1,000 euros. This is a contentious issue for cryptocurrency enthusiasts, as they frequently trade digital currencies in order to maintain their privacy.

As the Ukraine-Russia crisis rages, the new framework seeks to decrease anonymity in an effort to combat money laundering and sanctions evasion.

However, many EU nations had already implemented laws regulating various areas of the crypto sector prior to the introduction of MiCA. For example, Germany is one of the nations that has been the most aggressive in terms of the regulation of virtual currencies.

Companies that keep crypto assets or assist trade of crypto assets need to apply for special licenses under German banking legislation. This requirement was implemented with the help of the EU’s anti-money laundering regulation from 2022.

The German financial regulator BaFin said that its regulatory framework was mainly comparable to that of MiCA. However, to date, BaFin has only issued licenses to a total of four different FinTech companies and none to conventional banking institutions.

Input Output Global’s CTO Highlights the Significance of Input Endorsers to Cardano Network

Coutts has shared details of some of the amazing features of input endorsers.

Duncan Coutts, the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) at Input Output Global (IOG), the company responsible for conducting software development and research for Cardano, has highlighted the importance of Input Endorsers to the blockchain.

In an interview with City A.M. Darren Parkin, Coutts noted that the Input Endorser is an important update that will boost Cardano’s scaling this year.

According to Coutts, who just returned from paternity leave, input endorsers will boost Cardano’s speed by improving the network’s block propagation times, which allows transactions to be distributed into pre-constructed blocks.

The end result of input endorsers is to ensure consistency of block propagation times and high transaction rates.

“The way we’re going to achieve this is with improvements to Ouroboros, the proof-of-stake consensus protocol for Cardano,” Coutts said.

IOG Building New Ouroboros Software

The IOG Chief Technical Officer added that Cardano’s software development team is working on a new version of Ouroboros, allowing the IOG to use all the resources on the network’s server.

“Cardano’s servers have a lot of resources at the moment, but we aren’t able to make use of all of them. The reason for this comes down to the linear nature of the blockchain. You have to get a block from here to everywhere in time for the next block to be produced,” he added.

The new version of Ouroboros, dubbed Leios, will change Cardano’s block structure from having only one header and a single body to a header and multiple bodies, Coutts added.

Coutts noted that Ouroboros Leios will help in the production of ranking blocks that have between 10 and 20 smaller block bodies, adding:

“These are the pre-constructed blocks, which will be spread out over time with input endorsers, allowing the resources to be used more fully, the spread of blocks to happen faster, and for transaction rates to be higher.”

IOG Hype Input Endorsers

Notably, the IOG has teased the Cardano community that input endorsers will introduce exciting features to the blockchain once it goes live.

Last month, Charles Hoskinson, the CEO of IOG said: “Just got off a research call. I think everyone will be pleased about some genuinely amazing things coming together for Input Endorsers. We’ll have a video on it at Consensus on it.”

Input endorser is tipped to be the next upgrade the IOG will focus on after Vasil Hard Fork. The update is under development to meet future demands before the need for it arises.

Shiba Inu Team To Bring Fourth Ecosystem Token “TREAT”

Shiba Inu Team says they are bringing the fourth ecosystem coin but will not rush in launching “treat.”

Shiba Inu to Launch a Brand New ShibaSwap Reward Token “TREAT” To Replace “BONE” as Community Voted In Favor to Halt The Minting of BONE at 230 Million in the Latest Community Proposal.

Shiba Inu plans to launch a brand-new reward token, “TREAT” and is set to replace BONE as ShibaSwap Rewards.

The lead developer of the Shiba Inu, Shytoshi Kusama has recently released a new medium post as he had “a lot to say” to Shiba Inu Community. In the post, he covered the progress details of all the projects in the Shiba Inu ecosystem including SHIBARIUM-Layer-2 Solution, SHI, the stablecoin, Metaverse, and much more anticipated Shiba Collectible Card Game.

In addition, he also revealed the launch of a brand new reward token, “TREAT” as part of the Shiba Inu ecosystem development.

According to the medium blog post, Bone Shibaswap (BONE) will be replaced with a TREAT token and is destined to act as a ShibaSwap reward token.

The maximum supply of BONE is capped at 250 million. Recently Community proposes to halt the minting of BONE at 230 million and reserved the remaining 20 million BONE for validators and processes within Shibarium, then “What will be available for rewards for everyone else?” He replied to this question: “For this we have Treat.”

He further said that the brand new reward token will “not only serve this purpose, but will derive rewards for the Metaverse, and the blockchain version of the Shiba Collectible Card Game, as well as for helping to provide balance to SHI.”

Shytoshi calls the development of the TREAT token “a huge step” towards decentralization. He assured the community that the tokenomics of TREAT will not disappoint Shiba Inu holders. However, a limited supply of TREAT will be reserved for the most loyal Breed members that have been loyal to the Shiba Inu ecosystem and placed their efforts into building confidence in the project by protecting and growing the Shiba Inu ecosystem.

On the development of the TREAT token, the lead developer of SHIB mentioned that the development of the TREAT token is quietly been done as the development team “doesn’t want to rush another token into the ecosystem” and “its use case must be well defined and outlined.”

Voyager Digital Has Filed For Bankruptcy In New York

Crypto broker firm Voyager Digital is about to sink with billions of dollars of investor funds.

A few days ago, Voyager Digital, a crypto brokerage firm, halted trading, and all transactions on its platform – both deposits and withdrawals. This came after the crypto market went on a downward spirilla, forcing some companies to be liquidated. Today Voyager Digital is filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy in New York, a move that could see over 100,000 investors lose their funds. Voyger Would Be represented by Kirkland and Ellis LLP.

According to Investopedia: “Chapter 11 is a form of bankruptcy that involves a reorganization of a debtor’s business affairs, debts, and assets, and for that reason is known as “reorganization” bankruptcy. Chapter 11 is the most complex form of a bankruptcy proceeding. A Chapter 11 bankruptcy allows a company to stay in business and restructure its obligations.”

Assets Vs Liabilities

Apparently, the firm holds assets worth between $1 billion and $10 billion. Interestingly, it owes liabilities amounting to the same range. That’s according to a petition filed. In the petition, the firm seeks legal rights to go bankrupt, a position that could greatly disadvantage its creditors. Kirkland and Ellis LLP is the name of the legal firm representing the crypto broker in the petition – according to court documents.

No Operations

A few days ago, the crypto firm resulted to suspending all trading, a move that followed a default notice in which the firm explained to a large creditor, Three Arrows, that it was unable to repay its loans due to deteriorating market conditions.

Granted, Voyager and Three Arrows aren’t the only crypto-related firms to feel the pinch of the mega fall of crypto prices over the last month. Another company, named Celsius, also went down in liquidation.

Is The Market Doomed?

There has been a lot of talk about the current crypto winter lasting for months. Some even say it could last a few years before things can go back to normal. However, the crypto market is known for its extreme volatility, especially at a time when the world is about to enter a severe period of economic recession. It remains to be seen whether the crypto market will hold up as the alternative to fiat inflation.

Shiba Inu Lead Developer Says SHI Stablecoin Will Avoid Issues Found In Other Collapsed Stable Tokens Losing Billions

Shiba Inu’s top Developer Kusama Shytoshi does not want the SHI stablecoin to suffer the same fate as TerraUSD (UST).

Following the de-peg of Terra algorithmic stablecoin, TerraUSD (UST), Shytoshi Kusama, Shiba Inu’s lead developer, has noted that the project is exercising caution towards the development of its stablecoin, SHI.

The Shiba Inu team has chosen to tread carefully in the development of SHI in order to avoid a repeat of the Terra ecosystem collapse, which saw billions of dollars wiped off the market.

He said: “Needless to say, Shi is a concern after watching other stable tokens collapse and billions in dollars get wiped off the market completely.”

Kusama acknowledged that several SHI proposals have been submitted by developers, adding that these proposals are designed in ways that would avoid those issues inherent in failed stablecoins.

“[These group of developers have] submitted a version of Shi that seems to avoid the issues found in other moonshots, while allowing Shi to be used to counter and balance payments that need to be done without market fluctuations,” Kusama said.

According to the SHIB’s lead developer, the project’s upcoming stablecoin will be an experimental project just like every other Shiba Inu initiative that has gone live in the past.

SHI’s Development Nears Completion

The team behind Shiba Inu has continuously teased its community about SHI stablecoin. As announced by Kusama in May 2022, SHI alongside three other components of Ryoshi’s vision, including Shibarium, and SHIBFE, is still being developed and will be completed this year.

“I refuse to give any hard dates at this time, but I expect to see one or multiple of these technologies before the end of summer or very early fall,” Kusama noted in a blog post published in May.

Unlike most stablecoins that are pegged to the value of $1, SHI is an algorithmic stablecoin pegged to the value of 1c. The stablecoin will function on both Ethereum and layer-2 blockchain Shibarium.

“The end goal is that SHI (operating both on ETH and the Shibarium) becomes a global stable currency that plebs across all countries are able to use as both a store of value and method of payment,” Shiba Inu’s pseudonymous founder Ryoshi noted.

SHI Developers Tread Carefully After UST Collapse

Although SHI was close to officially launching, the collapse of Terra’s UST signaled to the Shiba Inu team that there is a need to tread carefully to avoid building a stablecoin that may crash like TerraUSD. Kusama assured members of the SHIBArmy that more detailed information about SHI will be released later this year.

One Of Crypto Biggest Exchange Finds New Ways Of Revenue, Applying Fees On Inactive Users

Users of Europe’s largest crypto exchange will now have to pay for inactivity.

According to a Bloomberg report, Europe’s largest crypto exchange and one of the world’s oldest, Bitstamp, has revealed that inactive users would be subject to a monthly fee.

“Keeping inactive accounts on the books is a cost, and in order for us to continue providing great services to all our customers, we made the hard decision to implement the inactivity fee,” the company said.

The new rule will come into effect from August, charging users with balances below €200 (approximately $204) who have not made a trade, withdrawn, deposited, or staked digital assets in the 12 months before a fee of €10 ( approximately $10.27) every month.

Consequently, the exchange encourages users to carry out any of these activities to avoid being charged.

Bitstamp’s latest rule comes as cryptocurrency trading activity, the primary income source for crypto exchanges, becomes increasingly strained as the bear market continues. According to leading US exchange Coinbase, trading volume is expected to drop even further.

As reported by The Crypto Basic, the exchange listed the popular doggy meme coin and the most searched crypto in 2021, Shiba Inu, earlier in the month. It is worth noting that this is also likely a move to bolster trading activity on the exchange due to the project’s large community following.

To cope with these challenges, competitor FTX has launched derivatives, stocks, and options trading to attract a broader user base. Notably, Bitstamp is not the only platform that charges users for inactivity. For example, stock and crypto trading platform EToro also charges an inactivity fee for users who do not log in to their accounts for 12 months.

Bitstamp is ranked as the 11th largest exchange in the world by CoinMarketCap, with a 24-hour volume of $174 million.

SHIB’s Lead Developer Cautions Former Internal Team Member For Spreading Malicious Information About Shiba Inu

0

Shytoshi Kusama has called out a former internal team member for circulating fake news about the project.

The lead developer of Shiba Inu who goes by the pseudonym Shytoshi Kusama, has lamented the actions of people dedicated to spreading malicious information about the project in effort to harm the SHIB ecosystem, including investors.

In a Medium blog post published today, Kusama noted that over the past six months, some internal key members who had access to Shiba Inu’s private information, key aspects, and tactics had left the SHIB ecosystem and joined other projects.

While Kusama expressed good wishes for almost all the internal team members who deserted Shiba Inu, he singled out one of them, referred to as Don Julio, for trying to wreak havoc on the SHIB ecosystem.

Kusama Cautions the Fudder

“I’ve spent too much time staring at Don Julio asking why fudders like you want to harm us […] What is your goal? Is it to harm the project? To harm people who have done nothing but try to make SHIB the best it can be? Is it to push the price down so you can buy the dip?,” Kusama noted in the Medium blog post.

He cautioned the former Shiba Inu team member to tread carefully as the entire cryptocurrency market deals with bigger issues – political and economic – which are way bigger than anyone in the crypto industry.

“Whatever your intention, please understand that there are forces at work here larger than me or you, and that you should tread carefully when attacking people for literally no reason at all,” Kusama added.

Kusama called on the fudder to look into his soul and discover his true nature because in the near future everyone will bear the consequences of their actions.

Shiba Inu Silenced Naysayers

This is not the first time Kusama is calling out fudders who are bent on circulating Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubts (FUDs) about Shiba Inu, in order to harm the project.

Kusama had previously called out fudders for saying the Shiba Inu team was not building its decentralized exchange as announced in early 2021.

However, Shiba Inu chose to match words with actions and rolled out the decentralized exchange a year ago, which introduced more utility into its ecosystem.

Fudders refused to rest still, as they called out the Shiba Inu team for lying about signing a partnership with Italian fashion brand John Richmond.

The partnership has advanced pretty well as John Richmond recently released some of the designs featuring the Shiba Inu mascot, a development that prompted Kusama to slam these naysayers.

Ripple Successfully Performed Rigorous NFT Testing, Readies To Launch Support On The XRPL

Ripple continues to surprise the world with its cutting-edge development efforts.

The company has announced another breakthrough in developing a high-efficiency NFT support system for the XRPL. The XRPL is Ripple’s flagship Hyperledger capable of handling multiple connections with various entities.

In a recent tweet, the company announced that the development of the new support system is now complete. This follows a proposal called the XLS-20, which recommended enabling native NFT support on the ledger.

Testing Results To Be Posted For Public Scrutiny

To prove its mettle, the company also announced plans to post the testing results for everyone to analyze. This puts Ripple among the top blockchain technology companies that have taken coding to higher heights. A detailed description of the testing methodologies and the test results can be accessed here. The descriptions include the testing environment, screenshots of the running code, and the different workloads involved in the testing (XRP payments, NFT offers, NFT minting, and a mix of payments and offers).

The test involved measuring the NFT throughput by creating one million accounts. Each of these accounts was tasked with minting 20 NFTs, bringing the total to 20 million NFTs minted. To measure the throughput offer for each NFT was created and then accepted, making two transactions in the process. The workload was found to be handled within 751 seconds.

Another test was conducted by mixing XRP payments with NFT offers and their acceptance. This made 4 transactions, 2 XRP payments, and a pair of transactions for offer and acceptance. The workload took 1,064 seconds.

While the good news introduces high-level scaling solutions to the XRPL, it remains to be seen how the system will actually upon full deployment. Still, the Ripple community appears happy to welcome NFT support on the system.

As mentioned, XRP will be the native currency for buying or selling NFTs on the RXPL, which could significantly boost the coin’s capacity and adoption. XRP has also been adopted on RippleNet, where various financial institutions can initiate fast and chap cross-border funds transfer with XRP as the base currency. Ripple has also been at the forefront in support of the creation of CBDCs in Europe.

Crypto Community Finds “Most Bullish Sign” In CNBC’s Jim Cramer Comment ‘Crypto Has No Value’

CNBC host Jim Cramer expects more pain in the crypto markets.

Mad Money TV host Jim Cramer on CNBC Squawk Box on Tuesday has taken a swipe at crypto, saying there is no real value in the markets; Cramer expects the current downturn to continue.

“Crypto does seem to be imploding. When it goes from $3 trillion to $1 trillion, why should it stop at $1 trillion? There’s no real value there,” said Cramer adding, “How many companies can Sam Bankman-Fried save?”

Cramer’s comments come from a problematic eight months for crypto markets that have seen Bitcoin drop over 70% from its highs, with almost $2 trillion wiped off the total market cap.

As the market struggles, so have various crypto companies, including exchanges, miners, and DeFi lenders. Several DeFi lending platforms have revealed insolvency concerns in just over a month, with several others believed to be secretly insolvent. FTX’s Sam Bankman-Fried, as reported on numerous occasions, played a significant role in trying to bail out a number of these firms.

Notably, the TV personality and former hedge fund manager also took a swipe at NFTs, calling them “awful assets.” NFTs have also taken a hit, with floor prices dropping with the value of coins like Ethereum and Solana.

Community Feedback

Meanwhile, it is worth noting that the crypto community has strongly criticized Cramer’s negative commentary.

Aside from being very inconsistent in his support or criticism of the asset class, Cramer has built a reputation for making significantly wrong calls in both the crypto and stock markets. Notably, in April, the Mad Money host had predicted a 40% upward move for Ethereum, calling himself a “believer” and the asset “terrific.” Instead, however, Ethereum has since declined by over 60%.

Moreover, in June last year, the analyst confessed to selling all his Bitcoin over fears of the Chinese crypto ban tanking the market. Bitcoin made a run-up to $69k months later.

Deaton, granted amici status to represent XRP investors in Ripple V SEC case, said it is a good sign when CNBC makes negative comments about crypto.

“I’m sorry, Jim Cramer, but I have to agree that your comment is the most bullish sign Crypto has had in weeks.”

Twitter user ‘Inverse Cramer ETF’ (@CramerTracker), who Tracks the stock and crypto recommendations of Jim Cramer so you can do the opposite, said:

“Jim when ETH was $3,000: “I LOVE IT, IT IS FANTASTIC”

Jim when ETH is $1,000: “THERE IS NO VALUE IN IT””

@LilMoonLambo said: “Jim Cramer, finally being bearish on crypto makes me feel like we’re about to start the biggest parabolic pump ever.”

@HBAcrypto said: “Jim Cramer says “crypto is imploding there’s no real value there” The bottom has been called *Pamp It*.”

Wall Street Silver says: “Crypto bottom is in.”

Notably, the crypto markets continue to move in a tight range. Bitcoin is hovering just above the $20k price point while Ethereum is just above the $1.1k price point, a 0.72% and 1.13% change in the last 24 hours, respectively. It is worth noting that mainstream media tagging the crypto markets dead have been good indicators of the bottom in the past.

Peter Brandt Says Bitcoin’s Chart Pattern Illustrates the Asset Is Set to Crash Further

The veteran futures trader has made yet another unfavorable prediction for Bitcoin.

Peter Brandt, a popular futures trader who has been outspoken about crypto price movements, has stated that there is a tendency that Bitcoin will soon continue its downward trend in the coming weeks.

The veteran futures trader shared a chart of Bitcoin’s price movement from April 2022 to date, which shows the top asset class moving in a Pennant pattern. According to the top trader chart, the BTC broke the previous pennant pattern downwards and fell from $33k to $20K.

“When it looks like a pennant and acts like a pennant it is often a pennant BTC,” Brandt tweeted.

A Pennant pattern is a chart trend seen when an asset moves in an upward or downward direction, which is usually followed by a brief consolidation before moving in its previous direction.

Bitcoin Previous Movement Similar to a Pennant

In the chart shared by Brandt, the movement of Bitcoin between April 2022 to date shows that the asset class experienced a large downward movement and few consolidations before continuing on its downward path.

Apparently, Bitcoin has entered the consolidation phase, with Brandt expecting the top cryptocurrency to continue its downward movement.

Brandt’s Unfavorable Bitcoin Price Prediction

This is not the first time Brandt is making unfavorable price predictions for Bitcoin. The veteran cryptocurrency trader, who still thinks Bitcoin is yet to find a floor price, predicted that the digital currency could fall below $13,000.

Bitcoin has been trading at around $19,000 since the beginning of the month. At the time of writing this line, Bitcoin is trading at $19,570 and it is down 1% in the last 24 hours.
