Blockchain Company Ripple Condemns Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine, Donates $1 Million to NGOs.

Famous blockchain company Ripple has announced a $1 million donation to humanitarian organizations in Ukraine committed to helping people affected by the ongoing war.

The donations will be shared explicitly between the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the World Central Kitchen.

“Ripple stands with Ukraine against the Russian invasion. Today, we’re donating $1M shared between @refugees and @WCKitchen to bolster their incredible efforts helping displaced people in Ukraine and neighboring countries,” the blockchain company said in an announcement today.

While the UN refugee agency will use the funds to cater to displaced people in Ukraine and neighboring countries, the World Kitchen organization, launched in 2010, will use its share of the donation to feed victims of the ongoing war.

Commenting on the move, Ripple CEO and founder Brad Garlinghouse publicly condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, saying the attack being carried out by Russian forces on Ukraine is “unprovoked, unjustified, and unacceptable to maintain some semblance of global order.”

He added that the donations made to humanitarian organizations by the company match its employees’ donations on a 2:1 scale.

While other crypto-related companies and enthusiasts have been donating large amounts of cryptocurrencies to support Ukraine, Ripple said it would develop a crypto-to-cash direct giving program to see these humanitarian organizations directly receive fiat.

Cryptocurrency Community Support for Ukraine

Recall that since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the global cryptocurrency community has thrown its weight behind Ukraine, providing financial assistance in the form of cryptocurrencies in a bid to alleviate the impact of the ongoing crisis in the country.

As per a report published by blockchain company Elliptic, cryptocurrency enthusiasts have so far donated over $40 million to different humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.

The large donations prompted the country to announce an airdrop of Peaceful World tokens (WORLD) allocated to donors.

However, the country canceled the airdrop initiative last minute, saying it would instead support its armed forces with non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Shiba Inu (SHIB) tokens are getting rare day by day.

SHIB community-led burning initiatives seem to charge, as recent data provided by Shibburn’s official Twitter handle reveals that about 213,640,225 (213M) SHIB tokens were taken out of circulation forever with ten transactions within the last 24 hours.

This means the burning rate increased whopping 1003.55% from the previous day when only 34,353,687 (34M) SHIB tokens were reported Burned by the same source.

Besides this burning in place, we’re seeing increasing demand for SHIB tokens. Even ETH whales are showing their hunger to accumulate as many SHIB tokens in their wallets as they can.

This all comes as the SHIB team brings their dream plans to reality in a rapid manner. Almost every day, a new company or exchange is seen coming in to join the SHIB ecosystem by accepting it either as a form of the payment method or either listing it for trading purposes or making any other partnership.

Recently, Vivid Money has listed the Shiba Inu token on its platform for trading purposes. At the same time, the SHIB community is waiting for LaborX’s massive announcement for the SHIB ecosystem scheduled this week and might become public in the coming one or two days. LaborX is a crypto-based freelance job platform that recently added support to SHIB as a payment method.

The two real-life scenarios that are helping big time in Shib’s reputations are the recent announcement that SHIB has now stepped into the fashion industry with ” John Richmond’s Italy-based brand. Shiba Inu’s bold step in real-life products by unveiling its first deep-rooted partnership with Welly’s, a new hyper-quality agile blockchain-based fast-food chain in Naples, Italy, opened in 2021.

For the past two days, Biggest Ethereum (ETH) Whales have shown their greed for Shiba Inu (SHIB) token following recent developments and robust partnerships in the ecosystem.

According to the recent data provided by WhaleStats, the Shiba Inu token has become the most traded and purchased token among 100 Ethereum whale wallets in the last 24 hours.

On average, around 494,038,620 (494M) SHIB tokens for $12,482 ($12.4M) have been purchased by the top 100 Ethereum Whale wallets.

Moreover, the top 100 ETH whale wallets are now holding $1,198 694,375 (1.1T) worth of SHIB, making it the third biggest token position by dollar value, following Ethereum (ETH) and FTX Token (FTT).

Besides all this, the two biggest Ethereum Whales have been reported to accumulate whopping 885.27 billion Shiba Inu tokens within the last 48 hours.

The ETH Whales became hungry after the Shib team recently unveiled that SHIB has now stepped into the fashion industry with ” John Richmond’s Italy-based brand.”

This massive partnership announcement was perfectly timed by the SHIB team and made public on February 28, 2022, which marks the final day of Italy’s fashion week and the first day of Paris Fashion Week.

Additionally, John Richmond recently released its Spring Summer Collection 2022 and will hold fashion shows across Italy, which will help Shiba Inu token gain massive exposure in no time.

SHIB and John Richmond will plan to conduct fashion shows in Milan, Italy, and 10,000 Richmond and Shiba Inu NFTs will be released through this partnership. In addition, the clothing line could also be available in collections in boutiques worldwide.

Dogecoin Founder Shibetoshi Nakamoto Announces the Launch of DOGE Wallet for iOS Users.

Dogecoin (DOGE) has announced the launch of a new mobile wallet for iOS devices. The Dogecoin mobile wallet, dubbed MyDoge Wallet, is a non-custodial social wallet designed for the secure storage and trading of DOGE cryptocurrency.

Shibetoshi Nakamoto, Dogecoin’s pseudonymous founder, announced today the groundbreaking launch of the cryptocurrency storage platform on Twitter, saying:

“A dedicated dogecoin wallet was just released for iOS – non-custodial and seems pretty easy to use!”

Features of MyDoge Wallet

According to details of the wallet on the Apple App Store, the app was designed as part of efforts to increase the number of daily DOGE transactions by building a community of Dogecoin enthusiasts, who will be allowed to have in-app communication with one another.

With the new Dogecoin wallet, users can buy, send, receive, and store DOGE. In addition, users will get to enjoy a secure and low fee while conducting transactions on the app, the Dogecoin team notes.

The app is expected to function effectively on both iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. However, the application, which has a file size of 49.1 MB, is designed to only run on devices that have iOS 12.0 or later versions, the Dogecoin team indicates.

Android Version Yet to be Released

As of this moment, the Dogecoin team is yet to announce an official release date for the Android version of the app.

However, Android users can store their DOGE coins using any of the available mobile wallets in the market, including Trust Wallet, Coinomi, Metamask, etc.

Wallet to Reignite Interest in DOGE

It is expected that the app will once again reignite Dogecoin enthusiasts’ interest in the cryptocurrency, which has been on a downtrend since it peaked at an all-time high of $0.73 in May 2021.

DOGE has since lost 82.8% of its value, with the cryptocurrency currently changing hands around $0.12, at the time of writing.

News of MyDoge wallet launch did not have any significant impact on DOGE’s value, as the cryptocurrency has continued trading between $0.12 and $0.13.

Brazil started to work on its Central bank Digital currency.

As reported by TheCryptoBasic on Feb 24th, Brazil introduced its first bill To Create Central Bank Digital Currency; before that, on Feb 22, Brazil’s Committee on Economic Affairs Took the First Measure Toward Regulating Crypto by approving a bill.

The Central Bank of Brazil (Banco Central do Brasil, BCB) announced 8 projects selected to help Brazil develop its central bank digital currency (CBDC) this Thursday.

The projects will be promoted through an innovation laboratory jointly managed by the bank. The lab, known as LIFT has selected 9 projects after receiving 47 different proposals from 43 companies.

Central Bank of Brazil advances in digital Real and selects Aave to join the ecosystem. To create the digital Real as a currency full of innovation resources, the Central Bank of Brazil opened a public notice on November 2021 to receive company proposals.

According to the Brazilian authority, the project received intense international support:

“The global interest in the Digital Real attracted Brazilian companies and companies from 7 other countries (Germany, United States, Israel, Mexico, Portugal, United Kingdom, and Sweden). The application projects for Digital Real were varied, covering the delivery versus payment (DvP), payment versus payment (PvP), internet of things (IoT), decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, and payment solutions when both payer and receiver are without internet access.”

Aave:

An open-source, non-custodial liquidity protocol whose CBDC project deals with forming a liquidity pool for offering loans.

The Aave protocol provides open-source, non-custodial liquidity where users can borrow cryptocurrencies and obtain decentralized funding. With this, it is clear that Real Digital will have some DeFi features, as had been announced by President Roberto Campos Neto.

The other eight chosen by the BCB took different proposals to Real digital were:

  • “Banco Santander Brasil – A major bank working on a delivery versus payment (DvP) project to tokenize ownership rights for vehicles and property
  • Febraban – Brazil’s banking federation, working on a DvP project
  • Giesecke + Devrient – A German payment security company whose proposal centers on dual offline payments (when both the entities sending and receiving the money are offline)
  • Itaú Unibanco (With B3 and R3) – A major Brazilian financial services company, working on a payment versus payment (PvP) project for international payments
  • Mercado Bitcoin (with Bitrust and CPqD)–  Latin America’s largest crypto exchange, working on a DvP project focused on crypto assets
  • TecBan (with Capitual)– An independent ATM network operator focused on open banking, which proposed an internet-of-things (IOT)-based logistics solution for e-commerce
  • VERT (with Digital Asset and Oliver Wyman)– a tokenization project for rural financing
  • Visa of Brazil, ConsenSys, and Microsoft – Looking at using a DeFi solution for financing small and medium-sized businesses.”

According to the Bank schedule, the implementation phase will start from March 28 to July 29, 2022.

SEC Lawsuit v. Ripple Reportedly Ends in Settlement, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse Gives Hint

0

Rumors started to emerge that SEC Lawsuit v. Ripple Ends in Settlement.

The hallmark case between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and popular blockchain company Ripple has reportedly been settled, sources familiar with the matter stated.

The lawsuit, which has lasted for more than a year, is rumored to have come to an end with the SEC and Ripple reaching an agreement on what the settlement would be. Per the source, all staff working on the case have been reassigned.

According to one of the sources that made the revelation, an official announcement is expected to be made in the coming week.

“Anyone else heard the rumor? Settled. All staff on the SEC v. Ripple case have been reassigned. A week until the news in public,” a Twitter user with the username @XRP_Production said.

Popular cryptocurrency YouTuber Ben Armstrong said he hopes the rumors are true, commenting on how factual the information is.

“I can 100% confirm that I am praying that this is true. It has been included in my nightly prayers since October 1,” Armstrong said.

SEC Says It would Lose Some Cases

Meanwhile, in a recent Fox Business interview, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said the SEC chairman, Gary Gensler, disclosed that the agency would lose some of its cases.

“He (SEC Commissioners) was interviewed yesterday and commented hey we are gonna lose some cases.”

While it is not clear whether Gensler is referring to the Ripple case, there is a tendency for his comments to be affiliated with the blockchain company.

Ripple CEO also said:

“I was meeting with Chairman Clayton, I met with SEC Commissioners, no one ever once said ‘XRP is a security.”

Recent Developments in the Lawsuit

As reported earlier, the SEC and Ripple were expected to participate in a mediation exercise that would see both parties reach a settlement.

While previous settlement discussions held months ago between the SEC and Ripple did not end well for both parties at the time, the new dialog is expected to yield positive results given the several developments that have occurred throughout the case.

Judge Sarah Netburn has been going through all relevant documents to the case in-camera, including some of the evidence like Hinman’s 2018 speech and Garlinghouse’s discussions with selected SEC representatives, as well as other documents the SEC objected to bringing forward to the court.

With several pieces of evidence believed to indicate that Ripple followed a careful approach to ensure it did not break any securities laws during the XRP offering, it was expected that the SEC would be convinced to enter into settlement talks with the blockchain company.

Ukraine Government Cancels WORLD Token Airdrop, Opts For Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) to Support Its Military

Ukraine Government Cancels WORLD Token Airdrop.

As the Russian invasion continues, the Ukrainian government has canceled its planned airdrop of WORLD tokens, with plans on the way to support its military with non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

The country said it intends to announce non-fungible tokens to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces shortly but presently has no schedules to issue NFTs.

Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine’s deputy prime minister and minister of digital transformation, made this known today on popular microblogging platform Twitter.

“After careful consideration, we decided to cancel the airdrop […] We will announce NFTs to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces soon. We DO NOT HAVE any plans to issue any fungible tokens,” Fedorov said in the tweet.

Ukraine to Reward Soldiers

Federov noted in a tweet that since the Russian invasion, there have been several volunteers who have joined the Ukrainian military, in a bid to fight back the aggression from Russian forces.

Following the massive support the Ukrainian military has received from many volunteers, the country believes it is best to reward the sacrifices of its gallant men and women on the war front.

At press time, Ukraine did not release further information about the upcoming projects, while efforts to get comments from the government have not yielded any result so far.

Ukraine Embraces Cryptocurrencies Amid War

Recall that the Ukrainian government has turned to cryptocurrencies since the beginning of the war. Federov has been on the front line of seeking funding through cryptocurrency donations from concerned individuals who wish to support Ukrainian forces to resist the Russian invasion.

Last week, Ukraine appealed to the world to send in donations in the form of Bitcoin, Ethereum (ETH), Dogecoin (DOGE), and other digital currencies.

Popular blockchain researcher Elliptic noted that the country has raised nearly $43 million from 67,000 donations since the campaign started.

The funds, according to Ukraine’s ministry of digital transformation, will not only be used to destroy many Russian soldiers but will also help in providing relief for victims of the war.

As part of its appreciation, Ukraine announced an airdrop program to reward donors who have been sending donations since the beginning of the war.

However, several reports noted that the airdrop of Peaceful World (WORLD) tokens is suspected to be fake, with Etherscan marking the address as a hoax.

“[…] This token is misleading to make people believe that it was sent from a well-known address, which is prone to fraud,” Wu Blockchain tweeted earlier today.

Data Shows Weak Hands Are Selling Bitcoin At A Loss

0

Short-term investors who bought bitcoin at $68,000 sold their coins at a loss.

Glassnode analytics company has published a report analyzing the real price distribution by unspent transaction outputs (UTXO) in the Bitcoin network which shows the distribution of coin supply at the price it last moved on-chain. This enables you to determine which investors sold their BTC at a profit and which ones are at a loss.

bitcoin small hands selling to whales

From May 10, 2021, to Aug 21, many traders bought bitcoins at prices ranging from $54,000 to $60,000. But when the massive market decline began, many rushed to get rid of the falling asset. The selling period lasted for 71 days. Glassnode analysts called this “bitcoin transfer from weak to strong hands” – that is, short-term investors were selling bitcoin to long-term ones.

In November 2021, the bitcoin price went above $60,000 again, making all-time high of $68,789. Since November last year, the bitcoin price has been gradually declining again; the short-term investors that bought BTC above 60K are selling to long-term investors in a more extended selling period that has lasted for 138 days.

Glassnode writes:

“This behavior shows us a market dominated by price-insensitive holders who are unwilling to sell their coins even if they are holding at a loss. But ordinary buyers were strongly washed out of the market; now their proportion is much less than it was in May-July 2021,”

Such analysis shows two things; first, long term BTC investors are not selling no matter how long the downtrend is, Second the Bitcoin market, after wiping out ordinary buyers, may rise again as this time the downtrend has remained for 138 days, while the Nov-Aug 21 downtrend was half as compared to the downtrend market is currently facing.

The report also indicates that despite the downtrend, Bitcoins are withdrawn from exchanges which is a bullish sign as it limits the significant sell-offs.

“Despite this very uncertain macro and geopolitical backdrop, the behavior of Bitcoin HODLers maintains a remarkably bullish conviction. Coins continue to be withdrawn from exchanges, are moving into increasingly illiquid wallets, and are maturing into increasingly senior age bands at a high rate. These look like Long-Term Holder coins in the making.”
