Travala.Com Adds USDC Through Polygon, Travala First Ever Integration With Polygon Network

0

Travala has further increased its number of supported cryptocurrencies.

Travala.com, a leading online travel and accommodation firm that supports cryptocurrency payments said it added support for Circle’s stablecoin USDC through the Polygon network.

The company made this known today in a tweet. According to the announcement, Travala.com added support for USD Coin (USDC) following its integration with Polygon.

It is noteworthy that the development is the first time Travala.com will be integrating with Polygon.

“BIG NEWS: USDC is now LIVE on Travala.com through the Polygon network! This is our very first integration with Polygon, and we could not be more excited,” Travala.com said.

Following the partnership, users can now make payments with the leading stablecoin for over 3 million travel products globally.

USDC on polygon now joins the list of more than 80 crypto assets already supported by Travala.com. Aside from USDC, some of the supported cryptocurrencies include Bitcoin (BTC), Binance Coin, Tether (USDT), Dogecoin (DOGE), Cardano (ADA), Ripple (XRP), Monero (XMR), etc.

As reported by TheCryptoBasic, Travala.com added Shiba Inu (SHIB) late last year to its list of supported cryptocurrencies following widespread interest in the meme-based coin. The memecoin was listed on Travala.com after winning a token contest against Floki Inu (FLOKI).

Ripple Proponent Attorney Jeremy Hogan Slams Ben Armstrong for “Dropping” Lawsuit Against Atozy

Attorney Hogan also joins others to condemn BitBoy Crypto’s approach of “dropping” the defamation lawsuit against Atozy.

Cryptocurrency enthusiasts have continued to react to news of Ben Armstrong’s (BitBoy Crypto) refusal to proceed with the lawsuit slammed against famous YouTuber Erling Mengshoel Jr., known under the brand name Atozy.

Attorney Jeremy Hogan, a partner at Hogan & Hogan law firm, became the latest to comment on recent developments. Hogan said it is unusual for people to drop a lawsuit just like Armstrong did on the 16-minute long live video on his YouTube channel.

“You don’t usually just ‘drop’ a lawsuit,” Hogan noted in a tweet while suggesting ways BitBoy Crypto could have gone about the development.

According to Hogan, BitBoy should have first contacted Atozy, who may not be willing to go through a lengthy legal battle. The duo could have come together to issue a mutual statement about not intending to proceed with the lawsuit. That way, the complainant, BitBoy, would come out of the lawsuit and “look good.”

“You don’t usually just “drop” a lawsuit. You call the Defendant (who doesn’t want to go through two years of litigation even if they’re going to win) and say “let’s work this out” and you come up with a mutual statement that lets you get out and look good. This is..different.”

“This is NOT That,” attorney Hogan added.

Explaining further, attorney Hogan suggested that Armstrong could have at least negotiated with Atozy to get something that would help him “save face.”

Ripple CTO Also Reacted

Hogan’s comment comes less than 24 hours after Ripple’s CTO David Schwartz said Armstrong’s attorney misled him.

“And as I suspected, it seems Ben was misled by his lawyers who *definitely* should have known better. Yay for happy endings,” Schwartz said.

BitBoy Drops Defamation Lawsuit Against Atozy

Recall that BitBoy Crypto announced he would be dropping the defamation class action filed against Atozy. The YouTuber said he did not plan for the suit to be made public; however, he did not realize he had gotten so big that matters about him would find their way to public space. Based on the lawsuit’s publicity, he chose to drop it.

However, the announcement came after Atozy disclosed that he had raised $200,000 for legal fees from well-wishers and his followers. With BitBoy dropping the suit, Atozy said he would refund the money to donors.

Attorney Deaton Says SEC Should Go After Ripple “If They Can Prove The Case, But SEC Shouldn’t Harm XRP Investors”

0

Attorney John Deaton is still advocating for XRP holders and does not seem to have issues with the SEC going after Ripple.

John Deaton, the legal representative of 72,500 Ripple (XRP) holders in a class action lawsuit against the Securities and Exchange Commission, has once again put the SEC on blast in a recent interview with FOX Business.

Deaton, who has continuously slammed the SEC, said the agency had stretched the Howey test, which the Ripple lawsuit is based on, beyond recognition.

“What I’m saying is that in 76 years when you look at all the sec cases coming from the Howie case there’s never been a case where there’s been absolutely no privity between the purchaser and the buyer,” Deaton was quoted as saying.

Deaton: XRP Is Not A Security

According to Deaton, based on the Howey case cited by the SEC, the sales and service contract, as well as the scheme, was referred to as security and not the underlying asset – “the orange.”

In the case between Ripple and the SEC, Deaton asserted that XRP is not security following the Howey test interpretation. Deaton said he is not against the SEC’s quest to determine whether Ripple breached United States’ securities laws via its 2013 Initial Coin Offering (ICO).

“SEC, if you can prove the case against Ripple, go out, go at it right now, do your job.”

However, he is strongly against the SEC’s claim that XRP is security ten years after the ICO was conducted, after many people have purchased the asset class from various trading platforms, including Coinbase.

“When you say that a person who has never heard of Ripple or has no idea of who Brad Garlinghous is, purchased [XRP] on Coinbase, [and you start] claiming that that token ten years later is an unregistered security with Ripple, now you’ve stretched that Howie case beyond recognition,” Deaton said.

Deaton Charges SEC for Harming Investors

Deaton has been making a case for XRP investors who suffered significant losses following the charges slammed against Ripple by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Recall that U.S.-based exchanges were forced to de-list XRP after Ripple was charged, as they fear the SEC may come after them. This caused the price of XRP to suffer tremendous losses.

It can also be recalled that after the SEC charged Ripple, Deaton also filed a class action lawsuit against the agency for harming the investors it sought to protect.

Per Deaton, a total of 72,500 XRP investors from 141 countries have joined his class action against the SEC, with more people still willing to participate.

The SEC continued to see Deaton as a thorn in the agency’s flesh and tried to have the attorney thrown out of the lawsuit.

However, the SEC’s motion was denied, as the Judge in charge of the case believes Deaton still has a vital role to play in the summary judgment of the lawsuit.

Deaton Further said that the SEC chairman has time for those who manage his fortune but not for XRP holders.

“Seventy-two thousand five hundred people from over 142 countries worldwide have joined. These are the people that Gary Gensler swore to protect, and instead of talking to us and reaching out to us, he filed a motion. His sec lawyers found a motion to revoke our standing in the court, which means revoke our Amica status, and personally had me thrown off the court, but the judge ignored their silly uh request…Gary Gensler does have time for us, but he met with Vanguard seven times since being sec chair because Vanguard manages 90 percent of his $121 million fortune, so he can meet them but not us.”

Doge Founder Reportedly Rejects $14M Offer To Betray DOGE Community By Promoting Dogechain

0

Marcus Applauded for Rejecting a $14M Offer to Betray Dogecoin.

Billy Marcus, the co-founder of Dogecoin, has been commended by Twitter users for rejecting a $14 million offer to betray the DOGE community and promote the shady project dogechain.

“Billy was offered to get 10B DC from Dogechain to promote their project. That is, at the current price, 14 MILLION DOLLARS. @BillyM2k turning down this much money to avoid betraying your community is worthy of our deepest respect.”

The Twitter user, who goes by the username Vee, noted that Marcus did not accept the offer to betray the Dogecoin community for the money despite not being able “to buy a home for himself.”

However, Vee said it is rare to see any Dogecoin influencers emulate Marcus’ loyalty to the meme coin project. Vee added that Dogecoin influencers betray the community to anyone to make quick gains “to buy houses, cars, boats, etc.

Vee Added:

“But I had to remind people. While Dogecoin influencers are selling the community to anyone, buying houses, boats, cars, Rolexes… Billy, MORE VALUABLE than all of them COMBINED, is watching our backs while he can’t afford to buy a home for himself.”

Marcus’ Reaction

Commenting on the post, Marcus said it is hard to protect the DOGE community from anything because people have a mind of their own and are free to decide whatever they wish. He added that many people in the crypto space are focused on making money at any cost, including betraying the entire project.

Marcus said:

“to be fair, I personally don’t think we can protect “the community” from anything since people are free to make their own decisions, and the huge majority of people in crypto couldn’t care less about anything but making money all you’ll see are things repeat themselves forever.”

Furthermore, Marcus said most crypto investors are gamblers and will do anything for the money. These so-called gamblers will always defend their decisions, which makes it challenging to convince them to do otherwise.

“My only choice was that I didn’t feel right about encouraging people to do anything,” Marcus said.

Marcus: It’s Not My Place to Encourage People to Buy Dogecoin

Marcus also noted that he does not think he has to encourage people to adopt DOGE.

“[…] I don’t even think it’s my place to encourage people to buy dogecoin,” Marcus said.

For Marcus, it is appropriate for people to get a basic understanding of what they intend to do before they delve into it.

“I just think people should understand what they are doing at a basic level, and then they are free to make whatever decision they want, dumb or smart,” he added.

Marcus Committed to Protecting Doge Investors

While Marcus believes it is difficult to convince most influencers not to betray the community for cheap gains, he has always been committed to protecting the community from people perceived as bad actors.

Earlier this year, Marcus threatened to sue famous crypto YouTuber Matt Wallace for planning to abuse DOGE’s trademark for his gains.

Wallace wanted to launch a cryptocurrency dubbed Accept DOGE under the guise of promoting the widespread adoption of DOGE among top businesses. The development did not sit well with DOGE supporters and Marcus, who asked Wallace to change the token’s name or risk engaging in a legal battle with the Dogecoin team.

Wallace was forced to change the token’s name to Accept Cryptocurrency (ACEPT). Unfortunately, it did not take long before a rug pull was carried out on the project, and its value plunged to nearly zero.

Binance Starts Cardano Node Updates In Preparation For Vasil Hard Fork As Upgrade Edges Closer

Vasil hard fork edges closer as Binance starts node upgrades.

In a 13-tweet-long thread on Thursday, Input Output Global (IOG) reveals that the world’s largest crypto exchange Binance has started upgrading its Cardano nodes in anticipation of the Vasil hard fork.

“Binance has announced they are updating their Cardano Nodes; so we’re on the way… kudos as ever to the cardano exchange team for supporting this process.”

It is worth noting that the Vasil hard fork is one of the most important blockchain upgrades of 2022. The hard fork promises to improve Cardano’s security, scalability, and smart contract performance, allowing developers to build more efficient and secure decentralized applications (dApps) on the network.

Notably, the upgrade has faced several delays in the past. As IOG founder Charles Hoskinson revealed, the upgrade failed to launch at the end of July as developers discovered bugs in node 1.35.0 that resulted in 3 different versions of the script, which had to undergo extensive testing. Developers have since decided on node 1.35.3 as the final node version for the Cardano upgrade, and preparations for the upgrade look to be progressing accordingly.

As disclosed by IOG, no new bugs have been discovered, only nine minor bugs remain in the backlog, and there is currently nothing that is standing as a blocker to the hard fork. Notably, over 40% of block-producing stake pool operators (SPOs) are already running on node 1.35.3. It represents a 10% increase in 48 hours, as The Crypto Basic reported on August 23 that about 30% of block-producing SPOs were running on the latest node.

IOG reveals that the target for the team to launch the upgrade is 75%, adding that overall, 57% of the nodes on the Cardano mainnet are already running on node 1.35.3. Meanwhile, dApps have not been left out as the team reveals that 4 of the top 10 Cardano dApps by TVL are running extensive tests with node 1.35.3 on the testnet.

In recent weeks, Hoskinson has had to debunk claims that node 1.35.3 has not been properly tested and that the Cardano upgrade is being rushed. Decrying the bad press that Cardano has attracted, Hoskinson noted that some parts of the crypto community now believe that the upgrade will not launch this year which he says is bizarre considering that they are so close.

However, recent announcements indicate that the team is unfazed and on track to carry out the upgrade when all set metrics are met. Notably, earlier in the month, the team stated that getting things right was the top priority.

Sentiment Feed noted on August 16 that Cardano sentiment is at its most positive since April.

Union Bank Becomes First Philippines’ Bank to Offer Mobile Bitcoin (BTC) Trading Services

0

The offering is only available to a few customers, but a full rollout is planned to commence soon.

Following the massive interest in cryptocurrencies, traditional financial institutions, including banks, are joining the crypto bandwagon to retain customers.

According to a report by local news outlet Inquirer.Net, Union Bank of the Philippines has become the first bank in the country to offer cryptocurrency trading services to its clients.

More Details About the Offering

Customers of the Union Bank of the Philippines can access the service through the bank’s mobile application. Notably, Union Bank customers can buy and sell Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, directly from the app without needing any third-party wallet service.

The initiative will make buying and selling the top asset class easy and convenient for Filipinos. However, the offering will be rolled out to selected Union Bank customers for the time being. While some Union Bank customers can see the virtual asset feature on their mobile app, others may not yet have access to the functionality during the initial phase of launch. The idea is to test the new feature to identify whether any technical glitch can occur. The report added that a full rollout would occur if everything ran smoothly.

The launch is in compliance with the Central bankof the country the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP).

Union Bank to Fully Enter the Metaverse

Henry Aguda, Senior Executive Vice President Chief Technology at Union Bank, said:

“By launching this new feature, we are hitting two birds with one stone —future-proofing the Bank and satisfying the needs of customers who use cryptocurrencies.”

Interestingly, Aguda added that the offering would pave the way for the bank’s venture into the metaverse.

“This is one of the things we are working on as we clear our path towards the metaverse,” Aguda added.

It is noteworthy that Union Bank of the Philippines intends to delve deeper into the cryptocurrency industry by launching the country’s first-ever Metaverse Center of Excellence.

Union Bank first ventured into the Metaverse in April following its partnership with a non-fungible token (NFT) project, Ark of Dreams.

Meanwhile, the development is part of efforts made by the bank to develop customer-centric solutions powered by emerging technology.

The bank recently launched a new campaign dubbed Tech-Up Pilipinas, an initiative to promote digital literacy and financial inclusion throughout the country.

Cardano Ranks 26th In ‘Top Brand Intimacy 2022’ Report, Beating Nestle, BMW, Bitcoin and Others

Cardano’s Charles Hoskinson Reveals Desire To Take ADA To The Next Level As Cardano Is Ranked As Most Intimate Crypto Brand.

Cardano ranks first over Bitcoin and others in brand intimacy.

In a tweet on Friday in response to Cardano’s ranking by MBLM as the most intimate crypto brand, Cardano’s founder Charles Hoskinson expressed a desire to take the blockchain network to the next level with an American football reference as he tweeted, “Moving the chains.”

The latest brand intimacy rankings by MBLM reveal that Cardano ranks 26th out of over 600 global brands evaluated and 1st in the crypto industry with a quotient of 52.6.

“New entry Cardano is not only the highest ranked crypto brand but also the highest performing financial services brand in our study, ranking 26th overall,” MBLM writes in their report.

Top Brand Report 2
Top Brand Report

MBLM reveals that the report ranks over 600 brands based on the strength of their emotional connection with their customer base using artificial intelligence and big data. Notably, the 2022 report featured more brands than ever before, with the crypto industry featuring for the first time. In addition, MBLM notes that brands with high intimacy consistently outperform the Fortune 500 and stock markets, generating more revenue and profit annually and in the long run.

Notably, Bitcoin sits in the second spot in the crypto industry rankings and 30th overall, while Polkadot beats Ethereum to 3rd place with an overall ranking of 111.

ADA community members have expressed excitement at the news as the blockchain ranks above big-name brands like BMW. However, others took the opportunity to take a swipe at billionaire Mark Cuban who recently said that Dogecoin had more potential than Cardano.

It is worth noting that Cardano is a decentralized programmable blockchain like Ethereum that allows developers to build decentralized applications (dApps) for multiple use cases. While ADA, the network’s native token, continues to trade lower than its competition, it still maintains a strong following among those who believe in the team’s vision of careful innovation, which has been sometimes mocked as slow.

The Cardano network is currently on the brink of a significant upgrade called the Vasil hard fork, which promises to usher in a flurry of dApps with better scalability and smart contract performance.

Cardano is the 8th largest crypto project by market cap, trading at the $0.4718 price point, up 2.27% in the last 24 hours.

Publicity Stunt? Mike Alfred Announces Plans to Giveaway 10 Million Cardano (ADA) Worth $4.6M To One Random Person

0

The Bitcoin maxi’s ADA giveaway post has attracted the attention of many who still find it hard to believe.

In a recent tweet, famous altcoin critic and Bitcoin advocate Mike Alfred said that he wants to give away 10 million Cardano (ADA) coins to a random Twitter user.

According to Alfred, the 10 million ADA coins were bought in 2018. However, he “completely forgot about them,” only to find them recently during an audit of his total cryptocurrency holdings.

Since Alfred is known as a Bitcoin maxi and altcoin critic, he noted that he would not be keeping the recently discovered ADA but would give them out.

“Because I do not want to hold ADA, I will be giving all 10M of them away to one random person who likes or retweets this,” Alfred tweeted yesterday.

Mixed Reaction Trail Alfred’s Giveaway Post

The post has continued to attract lots of reactions from many cryptocurrency influencers. While some people think Alfred is serious about the tweet, others think he only put up the post for engagement purposes.

At the time of writing this line, the tweet has gotten a total of 12,952 likes and 5,433 retweets.

Twitter Users’ Concern

The 10 million ADA Alfred wants to give away to a random follower is worth a whopping $4.6 million at the current exchange rate.

Although Alfred has not dismissed the tweet as a joke, there is still a likelihood that the post is all a stunt. Alfred might intend to use the post to buttress his point about how badly he does not want to be associated with any other digital currency but Bitcoin.

Before the post, Alfred seized every opportunity to promote Bitcoin adoption in various tweets.

He has always maintained that Bitcoin is a superior cryptocurrency to the likes of Ethereum, Cardano, and Solana because the world’s largest crypto has had stable block issuance since its inception.

Based on this, it would not be a surprise if Alfred’s planned ADA giveaway tweet is just one of his many shades thrown at altcoins.
